Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sazziej · 21/05/2010 07:30

sassy34264 I also have a midwives appt today, my second one also , first one was booking in appt at 10 weeks.

I think it depends where you are, but this is normal in my area (Lancs), they are every three weeks from now on, then go to every two weeks nearer the end of pg.

Good luck for your appt.

25+2.

sassy34264 · 21/05/2010 10:03

sazziej I'm lancs too. Had to cancel my appointment because i have seen every hour last night from 1pm onwards with my dd throwing up. Most upset that I couldn't go cos it has not exactly been a straightforward pregnancy so far and my anxiety levels are not good. But there was nothing I could do. Got a new appointment for next friday now.

Hope yours went well.

Debs75 · 21/05/2010 13:29

Am having real trouble finding some maternity jeans. Unfortunately my last pair have been thrown out but they were real comfy with a stretchy band which went over your bump. All I can find in mothercare are ones with the band all the way and underneath the bump or ones where it is just the pocket which stretches.
Has anyone found any comfy ones which go up to an 18, or some nice cool trousers.

bellabelly · 21/05/2010 13:38

Debs75 - I got some nice Red Herring ones (thanks to this thread in fact - someone said there was a Debenhams discount if you ordered online.) Mine are size 18and they come up quite big - I'm wearing a belt with mine at the mo. stretchy band goes right over your tum, v comfy! Will try to find a link...

bellabelly · 21/05/2010 13:40

-link It's saying out of stock for 18 online at teh mo but if you have a Debenhams near you, might be worth looking out for them.

sassy34264 · 21/05/2010 13:53

debs75

I got some from peacocks that have the blue stretchy material on. They have size 18. Asda also do maternity jeans.

sassy34264 · 21/05/2010 13:55

forgot to say new look have a good range of maternity, including some linen pants which i'm definately getting now the weather is warmer.

Dixiebell · 21/05/2010 13:56

sassy - I too have had no other MW appointment since booking in at 8 weeks. Found it quite surprising, but guess all okay if scans went well.

I got a pair of Mamas & Papas mat jeans with the elasticated band which goes under the bump. Were 30% off too. Quite comfy for holding up bump, but they are quite tight everywhere else (more of a skinny style) and I really want some looser more comfy ones. TopShop have some lovely skinnies, but can't find any looser styles. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Dixiebell · 21/05/2010 13:58

Oh, and we are really struggling for boy names which aren't in the top 100 list...anyone with good suggestions? Have tons of lovely girl names, but not much use now! Or anyone have a recommended baby name book?

dixiebell

Have you tried just googling names? There are loads of websites with all sorts of headings. Popular, biblical, unusual, irish, etc. I like biblical names. Jacob and Nathaniel are my favourites. It is hard to pick something that isn't in the top 20. My favourite girls names are Isobel and Evie and they are in the top 10! But i've liked Isobel for over 10 years- it's what i wanted my dd to be called but i was vetoed, so i'm not being put off by the popularity.

mellymooks · 21/05/2010 14:35

Hi folks,

I got some lovely maternity jeans from Matalan and another from dorothy perkins. Matalan ones are so comfy and come in long and cropped.

Debs75 · 21/05/2010 15:08

Cheers everyone will go look on Monday after I have my GTT. I will be child free so can take my time for once.

SkaterGrrrrl · 21/05/2010 16:51

Next to Lovely maternity jeans. We have lots of boys names and no girls names!

Welcome sassy and sweet tea!

sassy34264 · 21/05/2010 17:47

Thanks skatergrrrl

LB1981 · 22/05/2010 10:53

Debs75 The jeans from Topshop are awesome I have the ones with the full elasticated to band they have saved my life!

LB1981 · 22/05/2010 11:06

Dixiebell Keepng in mind we may have totally different taste - here is my list (I'm due for a lil lady so won't be needing the boys list just yet...
Dominic, Conor, Jacob, Rory, Alistair, Alexander, Thomas, Max and Hugh (Hugo)

Note sure if they're in the top 100... but remember the top 100 will be different in each borough/village/town/social circle... so if you want to avoid common names hang about the local high street. We were set for calling our girl Matilda 'till my sister told me it is the most popular name amongst her friends in Melbourne (where we'll probably/possibly eventually end up..)

Best of luck! This name game is definitely one of the funner aspects of pregnancy**! YIPPEE!

** As opposed to a brain that has thrown in the towel and gone on vacation/morning sickness/mood swings/maternity wear/bra shopping etc. etc.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2010 21:20

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine at the moment! I love the talk of names, so many I like so few DH likes I made a list of 15 names and he said two were OK so no decision there!

I am suffering with a horrible cold as is DS, he has got spots again- had them 3 times in 3 weeks a few months ago and was told they look like chicken pox but aren't because of the frequency so must be viral rash, there are a lot more this time so I will wait and see what they look like in the morning.

On the plus side, went to see the Gruffalo with DS, best friend and her daughter and then to pizza hut. Would have been nice to be enjoying the sunshine but had a lovely day, plus won a nursing chair on Ebay which DH is picking up on his way home from work Monday so I am very excited!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2010 21:20

whoops, 25+4

MammyG · 22/05/2010 21:32

Welcome sweet tea and sassy
Had a perfect day today! Bear hunting in the morning, lovely lunch and afternoon of kiddies in the village all playing in the paddling pool. We didnt realise it was going on so my two joined in in their undies!! Was lovely - they had such a great time. Amazing the difference a bit of sun makes. And today only had one dizzy spell. Best day all week!

Love the chat on names. We cannot settle on a girls name. Eliza maybe but just doesnt sit properly with me like boys names did. Lucy, Ella, Lila, DH likes Penny.
Have always found it so easy to pick a boys name and each time it was just right from the beginning. Why cant I find a girls name to do the same!
Our boys name was Quinn BTW

Here to another sunny day!

Bessie123 · 24/05/2010 12:08

Such lovely sunshine outside.

Maternity jeans - I bought a pair of the red herring ones. If you haven't put weight on all over go down a size, mine keep falling down when I wear them. They are also really badly made, the jersey round the belly has split on both sides even though it is too big. Zara do great maternity jeans when you can find them, I love my old pair and wear them all the time.

We have managed to choose a name for the baby, it's a miracle.

Bessie123 · 24/05/2010 12:10

oh, 22+2

Debs75 · 24/05/2010 15:48

Had my GTT this morning. Went really well, I didn't faint this time so am hoping this is a good sign.
Have turned away from jeans and found some leggings and will get some long tops to cover my huge bum. My Dorothy Perkins maternity trousers are linen and they itch like mad whyen I get too hot.

25 weeks

comixminx · 24/05/2010 17:29

Long tops are where it's at for me, along with a belt to make sure that my trousers don't fall down - am not doing up the button or most of the zip, and just pushing it under the bump...

26 + 2, very cool!

bananastew · 24/05/2010 19:16

I'm going for dresses this time although "maternity" ones seem to be in short supply but a lot of none maternity ones have a fair bit of growing room!

Have you all seen that they're cutting child trust funds?! all babies born after 1st August will only got £50! then next year cutting it all together!

Names are still causing problems here! DH seems to dislike every single name I come up with. Looks like we'll have a boy named Tilly!!!

sassy34264 · 24/05/2010 20:46

What is GTT?

I have not put anything on anywhere except for my bump. (lucky this time, it went everywhere last time) Practically everyone of my size 12 maternity clothes that i bought around 10 weeks (i had a bump then)is straining at the buttons or riding up! What am i supposed to do? Buy 14 then 16? I'm gonna look ridiculous!!!! It will fit me around the bump but will look like i've shrunk or stolen someone's clothes from the back. Why can't they have maternity clothes in a size but just increase the bump fitting? ARGH.
