Hellooooo? Anyone there? Night ZZZzzz.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bananastew · 18/05/2010 20:13

ooosabeauta Thanks! We'll worry about that if it happens!

babyshoes Ds1 was born on Aug 16th. I dressed him in babygrows and swaddled him at night & similar in the day (without the swaddle!). The general advice is 1 layer more than you're wearing. I think I tended to let him get too cold at night because he would often wake up until I put a blanket on as well, that was that fear of over heating! Poor baby was freezing!

comixminx · 18/05/2010 20:23

Fingers crossed for you at the vet, cinnamon - I'm sure it'll be fine but can understand it is not a nice thing to have to read & sign!

My DP calls the braxton hicks "Branston Pickle" so at that rate I'd end up as pickle!

MammyG · 18/05/2010 22:44

Yipee Its a Girl!!! Found out today. DH relented and decided he wanted to know and that he would hate if I knew and he didnt. Hid a pair of pink booties in his file.He couldnt believe it. We are delighted. It will be weird thinking pink - and must sort a name but at least DS1 will be happy too! Think DH is also delighted because of addes bonus that having a girl means this really is the last one!!

Turned out finished work in the nick of time - felt rotten all weekend and MW today said my BP is very low so that explains it. Have to travel a distance to see consultant so just taking it easy tomorrow to recover.

Doc mentioned my placenta is a little low but should come up as pregnancy progresses. He is keeping an eye on it - tho not seeing me again til end of july. Anyone any experience?

Also DS1 is set to be circumsised in early june. Medical issue. Anyone any ideas what I can expect? Dreading thought of anaesthesia.

Re buggies. I have the phil and teds e3 sport - its a double and I love it. If you are on your first but plan another fairly soon you can buy the buggy and the second seat later on when you need it. I use a maclaren for light use.

bellabelly · 19/05/2010 09:44

MammyG, so pleased for you - glad yur DH changed his mind about finding out!

sassy34264 · 19/05/2010 09:46

Hi everyone.

I only joined mumsnet yesterday, so not only am i new to here- i'm new to mumsnet. I'm due September 12th. Mine is a twin pregnancy. Because i've missed so much there are too many posts to read but i have read the first few and the last few. Is there anymore mums due in sept with twins?
Hope everyone is well and you don't mind me joining in?

weirdbird · 19/05/2010 12:05

Hi Sassy, more the merrier, I'm not expecting twins but my due date is also the 12th

sassy34264 · 19/05/2010 14:48

Thanks weirdbird.

Well, mine was actually calculated to be the 11th, but refused to let the mw put that- don't know why as such- just didn't want that to be my due date!
Is this your 1st? I have a 9 yr old dd. She will be 10 by the time they are born. I'm hoping she will be a big help.

weirdbird · 19/05/2010 16:27

This is my 3rd, my oldest DD is 8 and then DD2 is 3.

My DD1 was a huge help when I had DD2 she was 5 then, she now goes to her big sister for hugs when she doesn't get any sympathy from me!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/05/2010 17:07

Thanks comixminx everything has gone to plan and I will be picking him up in the next hour , was eating when I called! They have found he has an ear infection but its mild. At least its not mites or I would have had to treat all of my cats!

Glad everyone is so pleased with their scan results. Off to antenatal yoga tonight, be nice to stretch and relax

bellabelly · 19/05/2010 18:25

Hi Sassy, I'm expecting twin girls in September and I already have twin boys. I am envious of you having a 10-year old girl dd to help out - that'll be lovely! There was another poster a few weeks ago who was having twins but she hasn't been around for a while. Check out the mumsnet multiple births topic too - v friendly and can be v helpful.

cinnamon - so glad the op went well!

Stickhasgrownup · 19/05/2010 18:51

Hi Everyone,
Things seem to have gotten busy again on this thread!

Double buggy Qu -DS was 2.5 when I had my DD and I ended up getting a tandam buggy (one behind the other). I have the Graco Stadium Duo - Mainly because I could clip DD's Graco carseat into this buggy. (I actually found out you could clip a car seat in front and back, although they don't mention this, so if DS wanted a fully reclining seat DD could go in the front in her car seat).
Also had the Maclaren double but that was awful and I resold it.
Summer babies - I wouldn't worry too much... we rarely have really hot nights in this country. But you can always swaddle in a light weight sheet and only put a vest on DC.
bananastew - DC3 should be about 6 weeks when we go away... but I guess it'll be at least 4 weeks! I think it'll prob be easier to go then rather than when they are weaned and you have to worry about pureeing food or when they are on the move and into everything! At least thats what I am telling myself!
HIP Grant - I will phone my midwife in the morning and see if I can see her... I imagine if you've sent the form off they have to give you the grant... or maybe they don't... I think the fairest thing would be if they said now that they will stop it in a month or so!

sassy34264 · 19/05/2010 21:36

Weirdbird - I'm hoping my dd will (sometimes) entertain one while i bath, feed, change, burp etc the other. Doubtful though because we are moving in few weeks off a main road to a quiet area with lots of kids and don't think i'll see her for dust! Oh well.

bellabelly Congratulations. 2 sets of twins!!! I'm wondering how i'm going to cope with one set. I'm not sure i want this to be my last pregnancy though (crazy i know- ask me again in 3 months) and it has not escaped my notice that there seems to be an increased probability of it happening again.

Debs75 · 20/05/2010 10:19

Ooosabeauta DD is currently 25lbs and she fits pretty well in the First Wheels. I figured for £100 even if it only lasts her 6 months at least it will get them over Winter and baby will be cosy in the carrycot part. I don't think I will fit a cosytoes in with DD but she doesn't like them anyway.
It is weird as lots of prams and buggies say up to 3/4 then say upto 15kilos.

What is the HIP grant? Is it the £190 that all mums get for healthy eating? Igo back to the MW in June and am due to fill out the healthy eating form. Typical if that is the one Tories are taking away

sazziej · 20/05/2010 10:32

Yes Debs75 - HIP grant is the Health in Pregnancy Grant - I have a midwife appt tomorrow so I'm going to get my form signed and sent off asap - fingers crossed .

25+1.

SweetTea · 20/05/2010 11:10

Hi there!

Can i join the club!?

I'm due on 24th Sept with no 2. All going fine so far, scans and tests all looking good.

Not liking the fact that i'm getting bigger quicker second time around!!

comixminx · 20/05/2010 14:11

The policy-by-policy detail has been published now and there's no mention of cutting the health in pregnancy grant, though there is mention of cutting the home information packs (same acronym) so it may be that people are worring unnecessarily about this being cut. Fingers crossed!

25 + 5, form already sent off, hoping for the best

sassy34264 · 20/05/2010 14:42

Hi sweetea.

You can tell how big your are by the questions asked.

Instead of saying- 'when you due?'
You start getting - 'How long have you got left' (As though it must be a matter of weeks.)

I'm not 6 months for another 2 weeks!!!

People who know it's twins have also said 'Are you sure there's only 2 in there?'

I bloody hope so!!!!!!

ooosabeauta · 20/05/2010 15:02

Yes Debs75 - that's what I was hoping for, just to get through the winter and then buggyboarding/twoo seating might be do-able. Ds is 33lbs now (get out clause - he's tall, not spherical ) and never seems to be slowing down although I keep expecting him to, so I don't really know how he'll be, but I'm hoping the width of him is more important than the height, as he's already a bit bunched up in his so-called 'up to age 4' Cameleon. I blame my dh - I'm only 5'3"!

Hi SweetTea - I'm due on 23rd with no 2! Glad everything's going well

Sounds like good news about the HIP grant then. Phew, thanks comixminx.

bellabelly · 20/05/2010 15:12

Haha Sassy - yes when I tell people not due until end of Sept, they look like this . I've ballooned in the last month - made my DH measure me round my bump last night and am proud owner of a 50-inch waist already...

sassy34264 · 20/05/2010 15:36

Thanks bella - now i know mine is 45!!!!! ha. I hadn't thought to measure it before, just been going off the scales; 24 weeks and 30lbs gained. Gulp. I only gained 24lbs with my dd in the full 9 months. Umph.

:0

weirdbird · 20/05/2010 22:57

Gosh your brave weighing yourself, I am going with the ignorance is bliss method, I just gain weight when I am pregnant, my thighs get bigger, my arse gets bigger I am resigned by now (being no.3) that nothing I do or don't do is going to make any difference so I might as well just go with it!

Am away with the girls for the weekend and am going to be struggling to not look while they all drink cocktails and I watch....

Am trying to look on the positive side of no children for 48hrs for the last time in probably well over a year to come!

comixminx · 20/05/2010 23:13

Ha hah! never thought of measuring myself. Turns out that round the bump it's a mere 38" currently. But you two are having twins, aren't you?

25 + 5

Debs75 · 20/05/2010 23:16

Thank god it was the home HIP not the maternity one, have already spent it

Am hoping for not too much weight gain this time. I lost weight with DD1 put on loads with DS1 then with DD2 lost the grand total of 47lbs!
Have noticed I am starting to get big this week, my jeans are feeling uncomfortable so I am buying maternity jeans tomorrow. Baby is kicking me loads and I find I can't sit down for too long as when I stand up I get shooting pains up my sides.

24+3

sassy34264 · 20/05/2010 23:28

Can't really compare this pregnancy with my last one as there is a 10 year age difference and i am lighter now (even having gained 30lbs) than i was before i even got pregnant with 1st child.

I haven't grown anywhere except up front. From the back i look exactly the same. (believe me i keep checking!) It looks like i have put a globe up my top.

Deb 75- I need to go and buy my 2nd lot of maternity clothes soon, cos the ones i had to buy at 8 weeks!!!!!! are filled to capacity. Luckily there is still room to grow in my size 14 (i am usually 10/12) full brief knickers from tesco. God they are comfy.

sassy34264 · 20/05/2010 23:34

comixminx yes we are having twins.

Got my 2nd midwife appointment in the morning. Had my booking in appointment at 8 weeks and now this-don't think that's very good when i am 24 weeks tomorrow. Is that normal? I have had the 2 scans in between at the hospital though. (12 weeks and 18 weeks)

Night all.
