MammyG I hope you're feeling ok. FWIW I think you have done the right thing, no question. You'll have less stress (hopefully) which might help with the other stuff too.

Just a quick nip in for me. I haven't had time to read or post. Dealing with quite tricky, complicated work stuff. Thought what I'm doing at the moment would last a week but I now know it will go on for another week, including daily tube commute with trolley full of lever arch files! I will be so glad when it's over. A bit cross as I can take today (Sat) off but will have to do preparation work tomorrow.

Cheered up by baby kicking and darling DS (asked me where will the baby come out yesterday!).

Re Bugaboo: they ARE heavy and take up boot space, but I loved mine (Cameleon). Great for walks in park and off road, but there's lots of other good stuff out there too. I agree that by the time they're about 2 the McLaren (or equivalent) is what gets used more (and better for flying too).

I just fell out the back door whilst holding ds. My ankle buckled & down I went. I dropped ds from about knee height & also twisted my ankle. I was more conscious about what to to with ds as I was going down than about being pregnant. It happened so fast I can't really remember how I landed. I ended up on my side. Ds was ok, just shocked. My knees fine, my ankles aching but so is the top of my bump! Should I get checked out? I thought I was fine at 1st but am now worrying that I might have hurt the baby!! Help!

bananastew oh dear,my neighbour was telling me only this morning that when she was 8 months pregnant she fell down a flight of stairs from top to bottom, she went to get checked to reassure herself and all was fine. I am certainly not an expert but would say go and get yourself checked , it will stop you worrying!

Are you ok bananastew? You poor thing, bet it was a shock for you. Babies are v well cushioned in their sacs but I'd probably getchecked out just because I am a worrier. Hope all ok.

bananastew - If you are worried get it checked out, your peace of mind is worth it!

On the other post about your cot & wardrobe, a good place to lost is netmums as they have regional sites, have just sold some bits on my area and there is no charge for listing them so is far the cheapest option!

We found out due to purely practical reasons of having to move who sleeps where around and that is far easier to sort out while pg than with a newborn...

I too would suggest netmums for selling bit things and furnature. Also take a look if you want to buy anything!
Bananastew - i hope that all is ok.. I'm really clumsy and have fallen over a few times while preg and alls been well. Also wrote off my car when preg with ds1 and he popped out fine!
I'm begining to think it might be nice to know what I;m having... but too late now. Its just that choosing a name seems impossible as I haven't really got a girls or boys name that I love yet. I also can't see the birth being anymore amazing by not knowing this time... may all be too much!!!

Hi everyone, you all seem to have been hjaving scans since I was last on, glad everything is fine with you all.

MammyG Glad you have made a decision with work, you sounded so upset about the whole situation before, at least now you can have some rest.

Have just bought a new pram for baby and DC3 to share. It is a First Wheels twin. It should cost around £600 but I got it 2nd hand for £100. it has 2 seats and 1 carrycot and the seats are independent and can face either way. I really wanted to get an ICandy Pear but I figured I'm saving from £400 to £600 so I can afford a single pushchair when DC3 is too big for it.
Best friend is giving us her swinging crib and all DC3's baby clothes back when her DD has outgrown them so we don't need to get too much. Apart from a first stage car seat and bedroom furniture when we move we are pretty much done.

I am 25 weeks today!

Hi all! I'm fine. I borrowed a friends doppler in the end cos I knew I was ok, just needed to prove it!

Anyone who has experience of two children with a 2year age gap, what did you do buggywise? I'm getting a sling and buggy board but don't know whether to get a double buggy too! what are other people doing??

Debs75 - snap! I've just bought a secondhand First Wheels City Twin (for £150 - so you did a bit better than I did) because I really still want my ds to be able to face me sometimes, and really want the newborn to be facing obviously... but, I went to a shop the day after I won it on Ebay to have a proper look, and the saleswoman said that there's no way my ds will fit into a First Wheels. Apparently they're only meant to carry a child up to 15kg (about 33lbs or something), which seems a bit unreasonable as I thought they were advertised as being suitable for babies and toddlers. Anyway, am going to check him in it when I've collected it, but then probably sell it on again. Back to square one...

bananastew I've been considering using the buggy and a sling and then the buggy with a board, but my reservation is that occasionally in the afternoon if we're out my ds will want a nap (he sleeps better in a moving buggy than elsewhere), and in the winter a buggyboard might be a bit cold. What do you think you'll do?

oosabeauta Thats a good point! Hadn't thought of that! Although, if you're selling your first wheels city twin can I buy it!? Thats the only 1 I like but can't find 1!!! don't really want to pay full price cos i won't use it for that long!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all! Hope you're all getting a bit more warmth where you are - it seems sunnier and warmer here, at any rate.

Went to see the GP this morning for a regular check-up - and for the form for the health in pregnancy grant, too. If you're at or coming up to 25 weeks, don't forget to claim for this (assuming it doesn't get cut of course)! There's been a lot of discussions of benefits / the state of the economy on MN recently I know, but until / unless it is cut I think it's right to claim for the benefit that is due me.

Actually perhaps I'll spend some of it on maternity clothes - my tops that were previously just fine are now having difficulties in fitting over my expanding tum!

The GP was also able to tell me that the baby's head is downwards, which is great to hear.

Haven´´t posted in ages. Glad to hear alls well with everyone.

Saw MW again last week and agreed Id have 3rd scan late term around 32 weeks to check babies growth. I could have gone earlier, but then she said even if they found out the blood flow was restricted theres nothing to be done about it. I figured better not know and save myself the stress and check things out towards the end. I have good size bumb and plenty of movement, so all other signs of normal growth are good.

Hi everyone, I disappeared for a while, no real reason apart from laziness .
I can't believe how big the list is now, that's a lot of babies... I'm now 25+2 and baby is moving a lot. Found out it's a girl and DS is over the moon as he didn't want a brother, i on the other hand was suprisingly shocked, don't know where it came from as thought i didn't care what i had. Thankfully i'm over it and now and looking at tiny pink socks a lot.
A question for you all, has anyone had a baby in summer before? DS was born when it was cold so swaddling/dressing at night etc was a no brainer but if we get the summer they are saying i'm wondering how you dress/wrap them at night, there's a risk of over heating but i'd hate the poor thing to be cold. For some reason it's the only thing i'm concerned about (along with DS intent on letting her share his food)!

Hi all, had scan this morning and we're having a boy! V.surprised as somehow had imagined a girl all along, and both of us only have sisters, don't really get boys! Have absolutely NO boy names, so gonna get the thinking cap on!

Looks like we might be moving in 2 weeks' time - fingers crossed! It's all happening...

Helloooooo! Had 20 weeks scan, all fine DH found out sex but I didn't!

Gutted that I've heard they are axing the HIP Grant from monday couldn't they have held on for 4 more weeks!

Glad everyone's scans going well. Comixminx - when I had my scan last week she couldn't get a great view of twin 1 to start with so had to go back 30 mins later for a second look. Twin 1 had shifted from breech to head down in the meantime. They are basically somersaulting around at this early stage so don't worry too much about what position the gp/mw says your baby is in until much later on!

I heard they were announcing cuts on Monday and it would be something that was going. I pray they can't cut it immediately We never qualify for anything and this wasn't around when I had DS.

Bella - I did ask the GP about whether it would still move around now and he said it was pretty unlikely - apparently it was head-down at the last MW appt too. I'm a few weeks further along than you so presumably that might make a difference too.

The news says that the budget won't be until June 22nd - how many of the cuts will come in then and how many before then? I'm never quite sure about that stuff, but isn't there a delay between announcements and action?

Well I do hope so! Just 4 more weeks

Don't reckon the cuts on Monday will go into that much detail - will just say how much each govt dept will need to find, not necessarily how they're gonna find it (I'm a civil servant, so got first hand experience of what's going on here!).

I haven't heard anything about them cutting that grant either - hope not - but they are definitely planning to get rid of HIPs (home information packs) - same acronym, perhaps confusion there?

Just in reply to bananastew from earlier (and to say congrats to others on good scans!), yes, if my ds can't use it I'd be more than happy to sell it on to you, but we are out in the sticks... My MIL picked it up for us in Kent and I'm not sure when we'll get it from her because she only visits about twice a year, if that, and so I'll have to sort out when to go and pick it up I reckon. We got ours on Ebay and they do seem to come up a lot on there, but never in my area for some reason!

Re. HIP grants - noooo! I always miss whatever grant or perk or golden hello is going, so I was a bit excited about this one. I'm hoping that they can't get rid of it that quickly - am seeing midwife on 10th June so fingers crossed for us all that it'll still be there for a couple of months more!
