It's amazing how much our MW care varies depending where we are.

Had my scan today - all is looking good and as far as they can tell it looks like we're having a boy!!

The freaky thing is this morning that my DD came into bed and put her hands on my belly and said very seriously "it's a boy baby Mummy I'm going to have a brother!" we hadn't told her we were having the scan today so it was a real hairs on the back of my neck moment and it looks like she's right!

ah Melly, glad scan went well and that's lovely about your dd! Have you told her about the scan? One of my twin boys (they are 2.8) keeps pointing at my tummy and saying TWO GIRLS! Mind you, he keeps claiming that HE is a girl so I don't have too much faith! We'll see if he's right in a couple of weeks at my 20 week scan.

is/has anyone got a tally going for boys and girls? by my reckoning (no numbers) i think the boys are out numbering the girls so far!

I'm feeling better about it today, after my funk yesterday...but still haven't quite got my head round being a M.O.B.

Still - it makes the beak-like profile we spied on the ultrasound pics slightly less worrying.

Hi Stickhasgrownup I am also a childminder, just wondering what sort of time you are taking off and if you were childminding when you had your other children?

I had all of a sudden got some kind of bump, although really I just look fat but in the space of a week the baby is much higher up and my trousers are very tight!

Had the dreams with last pregnancy but none so far this time but then I have totally lost my sex drive this time too, could by why.

cinnamongreyhound - I only started CM when ds was a year old. I was working when I had dd but when I told the parents of the boy I was minding that I was preg (after 12 week scan) they moved him the following week!!! I was then stuck as who wants to start with a pregnant childmider!! I started working again when dd was 5 months and took on a little girl who was only 2 days older than her so it was perfect!
This time I'm going for my full 9 months! I only work part time so the Maternity allowance of £500 a month is pretty much what I earn anyway so I'm going to make the most of it! My dd is starting school in septermber as are my 2 mindees so it all works out perfectly! Fingers crossed I find some new mindees to take on when my mat leave runs out though... but I think its worth the risk to get 9 months off .

I registered in 2007 but found I was pregnant with my son 1 month later so didn't start minding until he was 14months in the end. I work 7.30-6 5 days a week and have 7 children all part-time so I can't afford not to work for very long. I am only taking 2 weeks as I didn't want to loose all my customers and that is easy enough for them to get off work. I am absolutely terrified of how I will cope but I know another childminder who did it and she kept all of her children so had 4 under 5 most of the time. Would love 9 months off, keeping my fingers crossed for the lottery or some unknown inheritance before 31st August

Poor you! I may keep one of my school runs... but thats it.
Is 2 weeks the minimum that you have to take off? I'm secretly hoping that I won't have to go back as I think 3 of my own is quite enough... but again, will take a lottery win!
If you've got Cm friends, maybe they can help you out a bit.

Hello ladies, can I join your September club?
I am due 1st September with my first baby, and at 38 I was beginning to think it would never happen. Everything is going well so far, I've had my 20 week scan and despite feeling paranoid that something would be wrong, all was well and I am now enjoying my pregnancy.
Looking forward to sharing this experience.

Hello everyone,

I am feeling gutted with my OH today, he announced that he no longer wants the boys name we've had picked out for about the last 4 years. I feel ridiculously devasted by this as it has always just been my son's name should we ever have a son and I don't know how to let it go.
My OH is incredibly stubborn and I know he will not budge and anyway it's ruined now as I would know he didn't want it and would get blamed if it ever ended up being a popular name/bad nickname emerged etc etc

I cried and cried last night about it, part of my brain is saying stop being so daft and the other is just gutted and fuming.

Help me feel better about this, I need to let it go but I'm really not sure how to.

Ooooh Melly, I feel for you! Remember, September is a long time away - plenty of time for him to see sense change his mind. If it were me, I would pretend to listen to some of his other suggestions (you never know, you may even prefer them to your original choice) but keep letting him know that you stll love the original name and would prefer to keep that one. Try not to let it upset you for now and remember that it's very hard to argue with a woman who's just given birth!

Hello everyone, can I join you? I'm 19+0 today - due on 26 Sept. Was on an Oct thread, but my EDD brought back a week at my 12 week scan.

Wondered when everyone actually started showing properly? I still have moments when I think my bump looks like nothing more than my usual after-dinner belly! Had thought it would be a lot bigger by now, but it is my first so maybe that's why. Will be happier after next scan in 2 weeks' time, just to check buba is actually there still (!)

What with various new joiners and people finding out sexes, and the list receding far far upstream, we're massively out of date. Here's the list again - I've added new people as far as I can, bolded, and tried to get their details - but couldn't do the sexes as well, sorry.

On other threads I've seen people specifically say SURPRISE where they have not chosen to know the sex so I've put that down on my entry too.

Hi everyone

Had such a tiring day - went to london for a 4th birthday party then took DS to the Butterfly Jungle at the Natural History Museum - so amazing, massive butterflies flying all around you, they even land on you! It's beautiful! But so hot I nearly fainted.
Then dashed back to Brighton on the train to get back in time for my last driving lesson before my test tomorrow - dropped DS at a friend's - had my two hour final lesson - got back and fed/bathed/bedded DS - and then got a message saying the test was cancelled!! The DSA said they'll give me the next available slot - but that might not be til JUNE!
I am half relieved, half gutted, now i'll have to pay for lessons for another x-number of weeks . GRRRR!

Anyway, realise that was in no way pregnancy related, but hey ho! Hope everyone's well.

Welcome all new ladies. Sazziej I got preg with first at 38 and had him at 39 so can really relate to how you feel. Enjoy the journey!

Hey MellyMooks, hope you're not too upset by names issue. DH and I had a bit of a disagreement too. I really wanted one name (but also liked his choice - I think it's important that you like DH's choices too). The compromise was, we called DS by the name DH preferred and used my preference as the second name, but I said: "as long as you don't mind me calling him by his second name". Sucker fell for it (just kidding). We call DS both but he is generally known by his second name. Is a compromise where both names get used a possibility? Or could you wait until he's born to see what suits him best before coming to a firm decision?

Oh, btw, almost forgot, had my scan last Fri. All going well. Measured 19+5 instead of the 20+2 I was but all was fine. We decided at the last minute not to find out, though the sonographer said she could see which it was!

I have a feeling it might be a girl. Just a hunch. but would be happy with a boy too.

Had knackering journey last Thurs back from Huddersfield & Leeds. I planned a snooze, but a woman I know vaguely through work got on and we yakked all the way to London. She has 3 dc so was great to talk kiddies as well as work. Tip: Anyone looking for BPA free bottles (whether to express or because you don't plan to bf)? MAM are recommended. Thank you Love2Dance -I'll also be 39 by the time 'wriggler' arrives, I'm certainly enjoying it so far... have been busy getting organised over the last few weeks, have ordered pram, cot, and nursery furniture... have bought some disposable nappies... I'm planning on using washable nappies but we're going to the Baby Show at the NEC, Birmingham at the end of the month, so waiting to see what we find there before committing to a particular brand. Any recommendations gratefully received!

Melly - I picked a girls name that I loved for DS1 and had thru pregnancy of DS2. But when I was 7 mths pregnant my cousin had a little girl and called her my chosen name! I was gutted. Bawled uncontrollably - felt like my little girl was just robbed away from me. DH looked at me like I was daft as a brush and wrote it off to hormones. He really didnt get it until I explained that this was already my baby. I had names picked for boy and girl from week 4. They already had identities etc to me. they werent just some distant will be or something happening later on in the year. I still cant find a girls name that sits as well with me. You have a while to get around DH but maybe just explaining that it is a little different for us etc and see if there is a compromise

Good day today, Had bad week last week - no energy at all. Am still waiting for my second trimester pick me up! All go at the moment too tho. Might be finishing up friday a week - still not sure what to make of it? Had shocking week last week bar friday and wanted to run out the gap (if i had the energy to run!) And know I have to put my health and the baby first but am feeling so guilty!!! Its mad - With each baby I have had I also got another artic lorry of guilt! mother guilt, back to work guilt, tired and cranky guilt, good enough daughter guilt and so on.

Have added the sex of my baby to the list.
My husband is a nightmare with choosing names so we haven't settled on anything yet, but I totally understand where Mellymooks and MammyG are coming from!

Went shopping with my mum Saturday as she wanted to buy bits for the baby, my son, stepson and me! We had a lovely day and the boys were happy with their bits
Spent the rest of the weekend painting my son's room as it's still as it was when he was born and my stepson's moving in with him so the baby can have his own room and not disturb either of them. Think the fumes are fine stickhasgrownup, I did have the windows open and was freezing a lot of the time just in case!

Thanks for your kind comments on the name stuff. mammmyG you described exactly how I've been feeling about the name - it has always been my little boy name - I can see hima nd everything!! Don't think DP is going to budge though but I might get it as a 2nd name. Been trying to search for something else that feels right but haven't stumbled on anything yet! Plenty of time yet I suppose.
