MammyG - that's so exciting seeing your LO sucking its thumb!! I can't wait for my scan - in 5 days time!!
Sorry to hear you're feeling crap though. Hope it turns out not to be as bad as you're anticipating.
I know what you mean about the dreams - I've had some fully bizarre ones! Including the old 'stepping on stage in a lead role and can't remember my lines' and a straaaaange one where i watched a stork carrying a baby dolphin in its mouth, trying to swallow it! Analyse THAT!

OH my gosh I am craving mint aeros. and anchovy paste on toast. YUM. I am just about managing to make myself eat some fruit and veg everyday, but really, all I want is chocolate and biscuits and toast with anchovy paste

I have been having a HORRIBLE pain in my sacrum, just above buttock, if I lie flat on a hard surface. I can hardly get up. Think it must be a nerve? Or a joint?

Anyway, hope everyone else is well and enjoying the sunshine!!

LB1981 · 24/04/2010 12:07

On the weird dream front - I had a fab one.

I dreamed I misplaced my new baby and repeatedly I would put the baby down and forget where. After thinking 'Stoppard/Mum/Mumsnet never warned me about this..' the baby called out: 'Mum - I am over here!' I was so proud that my baby could talk that I asked it if it knew who I was, 'Yeah' the baby offhandedly replied, ' You're my Mum.' The dream ended with my new baby doing a line dance in the local park.

Truly the best dream I have ever had...

MudandRoses · 24/04/2010 19:37

lol at LB1981...love the line-dancing baby. Apparently talking or 'wise' babies are a super-common dream archetype.

Hi all

just back from a two night stay in York. Mum offered to look after the kids, who was i to say no!!
Anyway, had a beautiful time, but my hips have started to play up had quite severe SPD in all previous pregnancies, this doesn't feel the same though, just wondering if its my pelvic girdle stability going? i feel like an 80 yr old hobbling woman, till i get moving, then its ok for a bit.

Still it was a lovely time

hope everyone is well xx

MudandRoses · 25/04/2010 21:03

Oooh, sorry to hear that Jaysfourth...

I've been having a horrid sharp pain in my side/lower abdomen (tendon I guess) when I walk any distance.

But other than that, no complaints.

3 days to my scan!! I. Can't. Wait.

ooosabeauta · 25/04/2010 21:59

Sorry to hear about your SPD Jaysfourth ad your pains MudandRoses. I was actually going to ask if anyone's having any abdominal pain. For the last week I've had stretching feelings in a kind of U-shape around the bottom of my tummy, and last night I woke up because it felt quite crampy. Over a month 'til I see a midwife so thought I'd ask here. I don't remember any of this with ds, but that might've been because it was overshadowed by the nausea with him. I feel a bit like I can't stand up fully straight because of the stretching. Is it normal?

On the subject of dreams (I'll take any chance to share ) I had a weird one on Friday night, where I went along for the 20week scan and they spent so long looking for anomolies that the sonographer said he didn't have time to check for gender. I left and went back later saying I was desperate to know, and he said, "well ok, but the only way we can do it now is to take the baby out and have a look". So they took the baby out, along with the placenta, weighed the baby and it was 17lbs , told me it was a boy and then said, "now can you put it back in yourself please?" Just thought I'd offload that...

Hope everyone is doing well

ooosabeauta · 25/04/2010 22:00

Oh, and 18+3.

Debs75 · 26/04/2010 13:57

Had my scan on Thursday, everything fine but little blighter was laid on its belly so couldn't tell the sex. Quite pleased really as want a surprise this final time.

21 weeks

cinnamongreyhound · 26/04/2010 14:11

Glad you had a good time Jaysfourth and sorry you are in pain. I have started to get back ache during the night which is waking me up, but I'm fine during the day so I should be grateful!

We have 3 boys names now which my husband has finally agreed on! His choice is Lewis and my two are Luke and Sam, just hope he looks like one of those when he arrives!

Just catching up with this thread and it's nice to hear about all the scans.

Mine's not until next week so no real news yet. I've had a letter to say that my iron levels are low but haven't really noticed any symptoms. Spatone, here I come!

bellabelly · 27/04/2010 11:37

Just catching up with the thread - love the weird dreams - they are so vivid, aren't they? I had one the other night where my cat was being chased up a tree by 2 tigers, felt really panicky because I thought the babies were being chased then when I saw it was "only" the cat, thought oh phew that's ok then!

Lots of stress and hassle at the mo aout moving house - looks like our vendors and our landlord are messing us around, am worried we are going to end up with nowhere to live if we can't get things sorted! Am aware that in my hormonal state, I may be getting too worked up about it all but there have been lots of tears and tantrums! Reckon DH thinks I'm losing it...

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up soon - must be lots of 20 week scans coming up in the next couple of weeks. Mine is on the 11th May which fels like AGES away...

PS Oosabeauta, I've had LOADS of stretching pains, made me feel quite faint at the weekend. Think my c-sect scar is getting stretched too which ain't helping. Had a cough and cold recently too and every time I coughed, my lower abdomen REALLY hurt. Think it's pretty normal but check with MW if worried.

Jaysfourth · 27/04/2010 17:48

shush - i had a very, ahem... 'intimate' dream about a friends husband last night - never even thought about him, well , ever tbh...not sure i can look friend ( or him ) in the eye again!!

weirdbird · 28/04/2010 10:26

He he Jaysforth I have had some of those, the images do eventually fade I promise!

I had entirely forgotten just how realistic and full on the pregnancy dreams can be, have a few full on corkers so far!

Anyone else in an area really short of midwives?

I see a midwife for the 2nd time this friday and I will be nearly 21 weeks by then, they had no dates for a booking in until I was 15 weeks...

afternoon all, have been for my scan today and everything is good and as it should be.
we are having a BOY!! we already have a DD and a DS so we weren't bothered what we are having. DD is a bit disappointed as she wanted a sister but i'm sure she'll come round to the idea.

heather1980 · 28/04/2010 13:56

oh and 21+1

Love2Dance · 28/04/2010 16:49

Hi Ladies.

My scan is Friday. Still in 2 minds about finding out the sex. Wierdbird I don't know if my area is short of midwives but I have seen the community one once (at 16 weeks). She told me she doesn't then need to see me until 28 weeks. I guess it's assumed hospital antenatal visits will cover the rest...A really strange feeling to be just left alone to get on with it.

Smiled at saucy dreams. I have had a few. And the leading man is never someone I fancy (save for my early pregnancy McNulty/Dominic West dream). Maybe I just need some sex. I just wish I wasn't so knackered. After a few quiet weeks work has been pretty full on and high pressured. Lots of deadlines and going here and there. Tomorrow it's Hudderdfield. Yikes! Don't think I'll get home until about 9.30 pm as it's about 3 hours from Kings Cross. Early night and hope I'll be ok, but the work tomorrow is likely to be pretty difficult and stressful.

Sigh...At least I can sleep on the train home (although in the pre-preg days it was a G&T of course!).

20 weeks.

Ea

cinnamongreyhound · 28/04/2010 18:37

Weirdbird I saw my midwife at 10 weeks for booking appointment and 14 weeks to give her a urine sample to check for unknown UTI's, which is apparently routine. I have just made an appointment for when I'm 24 weeks, but this is my second so could just be I get less. I have one at 28 weeks at hospital for Anti D, which I had with my first but can't remember for all of the rest! I don't know if it's a shortage of midwives or just the way it is.

I'm starting antenatal yoga tonight but I'm really tired and just want to go to bed early! I'm sure I'll enjoy it

Monstermuncher · 28/04/2010 18:42

Ah yes the rude dreams. Going into work is a nightmare at the moment, I have had wildly inappropriate dreams about most of the guys on my floor and I usually only remember this when they say good morning to me. At least I can put my subsequent blushing down to pregnancy hormones.

Makes you see some people in a whole new light IYSWIM (wink)

coppertop · 28/04/2010 19:15

I'm strangely envious of you all having saucy dreams. Why don't I get any of those?

So far I've had two MW appointments (10wks and 18wks) and have another one at 22wks. I've also got my Anti-D appointment in July. I think I'm probably having extra appointments as a precaution though. Technically I'm supposed to be under the care of the consultant but the MW wants to keep me away from the hospital as much as possible. She's great.

MudandRoses · 28/04/2010 21:04

Hi All

Had my scan today. Having (to my and DS's shock) a boy. DS (4) had his heart set on a sister, no idea why. He was very disappointed and proceeded to lie upside down on the chair scowling at the ultrasound screen for the rest of the session.
What I didn't realise was that, subconsciously, I guess I'd kind of set my heart on a girl, too. Even had a name picked out. Really didn't expect to feel sad and now I feel daft and ungrateful, I should be pleased he's healthy.

Anyway I know I will feel better tomorrow. it's just annoying as DP left tonight for 10 days working overseas, so I'm dreading the next few days.

But on a lighter note, I've been having them saucy dreams too - and even 'come' in my sleep 2 or 3 times!!!
I daren't tell DP as I've been a bit off-sex and think he might be rather jealous
Sorry if that's TMI!!

comixminx · 28/04/2010 21:10

I've had saucy dreams but earlier in the pg, not very recently - but the dreams are often still pretty vivid which is cool. Not that I'm always sleeping quite as well as when not pg though...

I've had three MW appointments I think - one at 8 or 10 weeks, one at 16ish, and one after the 20 week scan. She says that after a certain point (can't remember quite how many weeks - maybe 30 or so) she'll up it to every two weeks cos I'm 39. Oxfordshire is pretty good I must say - people are also saying it's good for its support for home births, and there's a lot of info about reusable nappies and suchlike too.

Hello Everyone - with regards MW appointments, are you all not seeing them around about 21 weeks to get your MatB1 so you can apply for mat leave if this is relevant for you?
I have an appointment that week solely for that reason.

I've got my 20 week scan tomorrow, I'm very excited and after much deliberation we're going to find out the sex if the baby is in the right position (prob won't be now I've decided to!)

Hello,
have only just discovered Mumsnet so has taken me a while to catch up.
Am due on 29th September 2010 so will be after most of you. So far haven't had many symptoms, managed to avoid morning sickness. Do fall asleep a lot at inappropriate times though.
Seems like ages until my next scan and mw apointment, but feeling ok.
Oh yes this is my 1st

18 wks

comixminx · 29/04/2010 07:54

RE mellymooks - you can get the MatB1 cert from your GP instead if MWs are in short supply where you are. My MW says that GPs are not always very keen on filling in the forms, but they should be able to do that.

Stickhasgrownup · 29/04/2010 16:02

Hi all,
Thought I'd quickly check in as its been a while.
It seems like there are alot of boys on their way!!! Word of warning the little girl I childmind was identified as a boy at the 22 week scan... so maybe not so many boys will actually appear!

I had my scan a week ago now and dh and I decided not to find out the sex. I already have a ds and a dd, and have previously found out both times... so am now experiencing not knowing! Finding clothing choices a bit limited though... am desperate to get a little outfit for the baby but most things are boys or girls.

I'm still on my anti sickness med and even then am still occationally sick... had stopped altogther by 20 weeks with previous pregancies.

I've had 4 MW appointments so far.

  1. about 9 weeks to choose hospitals
  2. at 12 weeks for bloods and booking in.
  3. at 16 weeks for urine and doppler
  4. at 21 weeks for matb1
My next is at 28 weeks although was offered one at 25 to get grant form... but falls in half term so thought I may as well wait until 28 week appointment anyway.

Dream wise - still vivid at times and only sexual when I really need a wee and haven't woken up!

22 weeks
