Runningguerita I remember the 15-18 weeks stage as the one where nothing hasppens. You have has a first scan, booking in appt and doc appt. Then you wait for what seems weeks before any more appts. Plus you may of got over MS yet no movements and no bump.
Things will start to 'happen' soon enough and then you will fell pregnant again, trust me.

We are definitely getting movements now, usually late afternoon until I go to sleep so another nighttime baby for me I think.

for those who don't want to know the sex how about getting the scanner to write it in a card and post it to yourself as a birthday card(if you have a b'day whilst pregnant) or send it to a family member who is good at keeping secrets. If you get really anxious about it when heavily preggers they can't deny you then. I'm using my sis as she didn't find out with hers and she will keep it secret until I am desperate to know.

Anyone else suffering headaches? I'm getting them more or less everyday at the mo and am trying desperately not to keep taking paracetamol unl;ess it gets really bad! It's starting to get me down now x

Oh and happy sunny sunday to you all x

LB1981 · 18/04/2010 11:11

Jodeylea - me too on the headaches! I suspect it is the stress?!? If I'm not at work I have found that a little bit of yoga helps; although it is the last thing I feel like doing mid-headache. Sometimes I chuck a hot water bottle on my neck to relax it - that often works too... but usually I cave and take a pill. I don't think it is damaging to have the odd paracetamol; needless to say, headaches suck.
Debs75 I love the card idea! I think I will go for it - because it could be the perfect pick-me-up for a really low day in the future!! Many thanks xx

Hope you are all enjoying the weather!

LadyRabbit · 18/04/2010 13:02

Hey Runningguerita just so you don't feel alone, I'm 18 weeks today so around the same due date as you. Apart from my expanding tum (which is still small enough to fit my usual clothes) and feeling a bit more out of breath than usual when I go for a run, I now feel very un-pregnant. I went for a consultant appointment at around 16 weeks and was half expecting baby to have disappeared when I was scanned - baby was very definitely still there!!! I've not felt a flutter or a kick or anything either.

I'm trying to make the most of having some energy while it lasts. But yeah, I worry sometimes that baby will either have disappeared or I have imagined it all!!!

Jodeylea, LB1981 me too with the headaches. Never ever get them and I've had two in the last week. Not migraines or anything, but enough to give in and take a paracetamol.

Don't know where you all are, but down south the sun is out in all its glory, not a cloud in sight and I could actually get used to quiet skies for a bit longer. Hope you're all having a great weekend.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/04/2010 14:49

Hi all,

Sorry to hear you are worrying runningGuerita but I am sure you will feel your little on soon. I have been feeling mine daily from 17weeks but don't remember how frequently I did with DS, it's sad really you think it's so important you'll never forget!

I am still feeling nauseas at some point of most days and have been sick 3 times in the last week Was gone by 13 weeks with DS so I'm getting a bit fed up of it now.

Have had a hectic weekend shopping for DS 3rd birthday, cleaning the house (which I have neglected for a couple of weeks), catching up on coursework- all of which I'm hoping to finish before baby arrives and am now off to help DH painting!

Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine!

20+5 (Scan on Weds )

RunningGuerita · 19/04/2010 11:21

Thanks all for your words of encouragement.
I am definitely feeling pregnant, expanding bump, shrinking wardrobe and permanent headaches and exhaustion are all a feature of my life now! I guess I just would love to know that the bub is all good with a strong heartbeat etc. But the fact that my bump is expanding and my hormones raging I am sure are good signs.

JodyLea My scan date is on the 17 May (21 weeks). I am also suffering headaches and it isn't from lack of drinking water. I think it's interrupted sleep (I wake up at 3 or 4am every night) and again, bloody hormones!

Bessie123 · 19/04/2010 12:26

Have you seen the doc about your headaches? Midwives seem to ask if you have had any headaches as part of the health check during visits, I wonder if there is a reason - maybe something they can do to help them?

heather1980 · 20/04/2010 08:49

i too have had really bad headaches, i do normally suffer with migraines but they have been a lot better since having my DD 3.5 years ago. i used to be on some really strong drugs, but had to stop them due to pregnancy/breastfeeding.
i know that persistant headaches can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia later on in pregnancy though so will have to watch out for that. i hope i don't get it or it will put paid to my plans for a home birth.

talking of finding out the sex, we didn't with my other 2 children but am very tempted this time. my scan is next week so will have to decide then. it's my last baby and i already have a boy and a girl so i am in 2 minds about it all.

eggonlegs · 20/04/2010 12:01

Hi all,

hope you are all well. Been reading but not posting.

I loved the idea of writing the sex down on a piece of paper.

My husband really wanted to find out the sex and I was in two minds (wanted to but felt should be a surprise)and I knew that in the heat an excitement I would have said yes and maybe regretted it.

The scan was great and as people have said just so nice to see all the pics and baby growing well, but during the scan I definitely saw a willy so that gave the game away somewhat! We didn't ask at the time and then took the piece of paper that the sonographer had written on which we opened over a coffee - more to confirm what I'd seen in the end.

I have to say that knowing this time (we didn't with our first) has really been lovely and helped me envisage this baby as part of our family rather than 'it' which has been a real surprise and I don't regret finding out at all.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts!

Someone mentioned a while back about Bonds all in ones - I'm based in Oz at the moment so if you wanted me to send you some let me know.

Have a great day

Monstermuncher · 20/04/2010 12:56

Hi all,

Had my scan this morning and all is looking good. Baby is quite an acrobat and would not stay still long enough to be completely sure but looks as though we are having a boy and I can't stop grinning! Quite a few people are very shocked that we wanted to find out the sex beforehand but IMO there's enough uncertainty as it is just worrying that everything is ok and I like to be prepared (ok so I'm a control freak).

Hope everyone is well this week - good luck to everyone with scans coming up.

LB1981 · 20/04/2010 17:38

eggsonlegs Cheers for the Bonds Baby clothes offer... But I have managed to ebay myself into a baby-Bonds frenzy.. and have enough wondersuits, singlets and easysuits to see me through until I go home for a holiday in Dec 2010. Many thanks for the kind offer.
Hope Australia is treating you well and that you are there by choice and not stranded by ash cloud.

patito · 20/04/2010 19:53

Hi all

had 20 week scan, which included fetal heart scan and a my heart . Everything was good with baby (not finding out sex), but apparently showed up something on my scan that may be indicator of a low birth weight so I have to go back for scan at 25 weeks and see then. At moment Im not too worried, but am concerned that I might be denied home birth on this info. I ve decided to give a call to MW tomorrow morning and check out what it all means.

Otherwise feeling really good, little ones moving a lot and even saw my belly "pop up" the other night .

Hope alls well.

comixminx · 21/04/2010 08:07

Good stuff patito! Do you mean you saw a kick as well as felt it? Fantastic! I have felt a lot of flutters, but nothing as definite as a full-blown kick IYSWIM.

Looking forward to getting my Mat B1 cert on Friday at my midwife visit.

Love2Dance · 21/04/2010 12:36

Just checking in briefly.

So nice to read all the positive scan stories. Happy for you all. In the middle of some tricky work at the moment, but at least I am working at home and the sun is shining.

I am still in 2 minds about whether to find out the sex at the scan on Friday week. DH is leaning towards finding out, I am leaning away. Last time it was the other way round!

On a completely different note. For the first time I now understand why women have cosmetic surgery on their breasts. I am so enjoying having blooming boobs. They are now at 32DD and last time went up to 32E (although I was also happy with my little 32B's - pre-pregnancy). After I went back to pre-baby weight last time I thought they looked like they had deflated to flat, saggy Spaniel's ears. I would love a magic lift without having to shove a bag of saline or whatever inside. I don't mind small. I do mind saggy...

Hey ho, back to work.

18+7, or should that be 19 (duh)?

Jaysfourth · 21/04/2010 15:31

Hi all, is lovely that the sun is shining isn't it!

I have two DC at preschool all day on a Wed,(since Easter) so have spent some lovely time with DS its sooooo peaceful with one

Patio, it never ceases to amaze me, re movements. its only been in the past two weeks that i have felt some really strong kicks/moves...and then three nights ago i witnessed my first 'outside' movement. Since then it hasnt stopped! She even woke me up last night with her turning, wriggling and booting....i can go from not needing the loo to full blown i am going to pee myself, with one of her somersaults!!

Went to ASDA this morning and picked up a heap of baby girl clothes, you just cant believe how little they cost, its crazy, also managed a lovely mat dress, although i will wear it with leggings... it was a right bargin

Saw MW yesterday. As a result of me phoning to remind her i needed the Anti D at my 28 week appoint. Turned out the bloods i had taken at booking in, were void and i needed to have them redone........thanks for telling me someone..... seems like i am running the show here, on my own.
Anyway, everything else ok, no measuring yet, but they did have to redo bloods and it took four attempts before it came... i have a shocking bruise today as a lasting reminder of my visit!

glad to hear everyone is in a good place att he mo and scans are all looking good. Patio, thats a good attitude to have re babyies weight, things can change so much and at least you get to see your little one again in a few weeks time, hope all will be fine by then

Anyway, off to enjoy whats left of my time before kiddies come back

cinnamongreyhound · 21/04/2010 19:44

Hi all,

Glad everyone is getting good news! Good luck with your scan at 25 weeks Patito, I know nothing about low birth weight but at least they've picked it up now.

I had my scan today and all is well, all measurements perfect for dates. And we're having another boy

Jaysfourth · 21/04/2010 21:40

congrats Cinnamon, thats great news! your boys will be 'bestest' mates i am am sure

You mentioned before, if i can remember back then.... that you thought your Mum might be disappointed in another boy? Hope she wasn't and that she celebrated the good news with you?

We will soon have to start up a 'tally' of girls v boys. In my second antenatal group (in RL) all 14 of us had boys, apparently that was quite a phenomenon!!

cinnamongreyhound · 22/04/2010 07:54

She was disappointed for me Jaysfourth but said she doesn't really mind! Hopefully one day my brother will give her a grandaughter and she can buy lots of pink things

comixminx · 22/04/2010 09:21

Tell you what's weird, though I suppose I ought to just take it as it comes & be grateful - some days I feel much more pregnant than others. Yesterday I felt heavy and slow, today I feel sprightly, physically less heavy, and faster. But have still got a decided bump so not to worry! Isn't it weird though.

Another different milestone - yesterday morning I had a sore nipple, and noticed a (very) small amount of leaking going on. Cor! Already?

21 + 5

Love2Dance · 22/04/2010 11:29

Ready to express yet comixminx? Watch out if it stays sore, though. You don't want problems this stage.

Does anyone get sent the Toast catalogue? I don't shop there (too expensive and a bit wishy washy) but once bought a swimming cossie in the sale so they keep sending it to me. I totally want that lifestyle in their catalogue! They do have nice cossies and sandal though...

Sartorial question: is anyone going to dare to wear a bikini this summer? I should point out that I am not a skinny (pear-shaped so smaller up top, big bum and thighs and rugby player calves!). I wouldn't wear one to a public pool (prefer all in one for swimming comfort) but if on holiday on a beach or by a pool with a sarong to cover up for cafe trips etc. I kinda think, why the hell shouldn't I? From a quick look at threads on other sites it seems some (not only but mainly blokes- probably the same type who don't like b-feeding in public) find this distressing to the eye.

OK, so whale woman isn't the same as itsy bitsy Bardot type, but (after repressing the self-consciousness and with appropriate sun cream) you get so hot in later stages of pregnancy and isn't it nice to let it all hang out?

I think I might post this on "Style & Beauty" and take a straw MN poll. Now, back to work.

Hi

I live right next to the beach and am finishing work end of June so will be down there everyday relaxing rock pooling with DS1 . Im def going in bikini, Ill buy bigger sized one closer to summer (dont really want to fork out 50 quid on mat Bikini for using 2 mths). Dont be bothered about what other people think, the types that object are usually all beer belly with speedos.

Probably take kaftan but for covering up out of sun, Im a bit concerned that the skin being streched and thinner it´´ll burn easier.

Spoke with MW today and she reassured me more re: low birth weight. She said its quite normal at this stage for heart to make extra effort but just need to check that its gone for week 25. Something to do with in later pregnancy the placenta allows more blood to get through and therefore should be less work on heart.

Love2Dance · 22/04/2010 22:34

Glad to hear that Patito. A good well informed MW is a real asset.
LOL at beer belly with Speedos. That's what I'll look like if I wear goggles.

Have just finished a marathon piece of work so off to watch (recorded) TV debate then off to bed.

Hello everyone,
so much to catch up on!

Been feeling great up until wed then felt really tired ad dizzy and ended up throwing up all my dinner
Crawled into work yesterday but felt shit and they sent me home, am resting today.
I'm thinking maybe my iron levels are dropping and that's why I'm getting so dizzy, (happened around same time in first pregnancy) my lovely MIL is looking after my daughter and has gone out to get me spatone.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I'm getting lots of wriggles and kicks now but nothing visual yet. Looking forward to the 20 wk scan next week, think we might get the scanner to write down sex and put in envelope for us. I'm still torn as to whether I want to know, but my man really wants to know, I'm sure he'll win in the end

19 weeks

comixminx · 23/04/2010 10:30

Oh dear Mellymooks! Sorry you have been unwell. Hopefully it is as you say and if you up your iron levels you will then feel better.

Had my first case of uninvited / unwanted belly patting by someone this morning! She's a mother herself too, you'd think she'd have got cross with people doing that to her. Ah well.

MammyG · 23/04/2010 22:07

Hi all. Took ages to catch up! glad everyones scans are going well. I had another scan on tues and my little bean was sucking its thumb! Was turned the wrong way for doc to figure out sex. Am back again at 22 weeks so will see then.
Turns out there is nothing they can do about the gallbladder issue. MW told me symptoms will get worse as the baby gets bigger. She had that knowing look but didnt say anything that has freaked me out a little. think I am in for major discomfort. To top it off the doc said he wouldnt give me a presciption for anti spasmodics as they are not 'strong enough' and I would be better calling doctor and getting injections when attacks get bad. Both stressed that the baby will be fine. which is a comfort at least but find myself worrying about what I may be in for! To top it off my boss is now talking about me finishing up at 22 weeks. Its too hard to get replacements for odd days etc so would be easier if they could get a full time sub. Not sure how I feel about it.
Also found sugar in urine at last visit. Im just under the threshold for gestational diabetes but must be tested every couple of weeks now for a while. I am unusually thirsty and peeing for ireland at the moment. Anyone any advice/experience?

Anyway - thank crunchy its Friday because I am beyond exhausted. Cant wait to crawl into bed. Hope tonights dreams are less scary than last nights tho. This full on living colour dream experience is tiring in itself!!
