Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
foxyjbro99 · 28/03/2010 18:34

I would love somebody to say that to me!
So far all i've had is " how many weeks are you?" when i answer " is that all?? you're gonna be massive!" oh and " it must be a boy cos you're carrying all around !"
dh not helping either by informing me that I'm massive compared to everyone we know who is significantly more pregnant than me!!

babyshoes · 28/03/2010 20:51

Hi everyone, seems i was writing on an old thread! i had been away for a while and dubious about coming back as turns out i'm due 29th aug not 2nd sept but hey ho, was 2 weeks late with DS.
i'm jealous about the small bumps conversations, mine seems huge and i'm just 18 weeks today! Shopped at Top shop last week to get some nice clothes and was tempted into spending a lot of money on maternity spanx to try hold it in a bit more neatly!
Bananastew, don't listen to anyone else about YOUR decision on finding out the sex of YOUR child. And as for the wine, i love to have half a glass sitting there even if i never finish it. It's rose wine season now clocks have moved and i intend to carry a glass around in the sunshine even if it is just for comfort rather than actually consuming - might pretend i'm drunk just to get the reaction.....
Hey love2dance, figleaves do ok bras if you know your size already, i tried M&S last week and nearly killed myself out of depression looking at all the hideous old lady ones, why do peoople think you lose all sense of style once you become pregnant..?!

comixminx · 28/03/2010 21:15

Hi babyshoes - don't worry too much about the due date, there are some of us on here who have even earlier due dates... my excuse is that as a first baby mine's quite likely to be late!

comixminx · 29/03/2010 08:03

OK OK I know this is TMI, but am longing to know if this happens to others too! So, over the past few weeks, I've noticed that if I have an orgasm, my uterus contracts into a hard mass which can be felt by the hand for a bit until it relaxes. But this weekend it could also be seen as a visible lump too, somewhat off-centre! So please tell me, has anyone else had this too? I'm not worried per se - surely everyone has sex / has an orgasm during pregnancy and it's not disrecommended - but it was quite amusing and amazing simultaneously...

18 + 2

Love2Dance · 29/03/2010 13:59

That IS interesting. Can't say I have noticed it in my case. Are you sure it's the uterus (i.e. not a hernia or something)? But then, if a hernia you'd think it would stay "up". Maybe you just have very strong orgasmic contrations and this is giving the same effect as the Braxton Hicks to come later.

Hi guys

I know I am really late joining this thread, but didn't want to join and "tempt fate" until I had the 12 week scan and got the downs risk blood results... but here I am!
I am due on 29 September (confirmed by scan) and am 13+5 weeks...
This was a semi surprise baby (our first) in that we thought that 2010 would be a good year for trying to get pg, started sort of trying and... 2 weeks later, I was pregant!
Felt a little overwhelmed but then we saw a little wriggliing baby at the scan (a baby that was literally dancing around!)... I am now finally allowing myself to get excited and can't wait! All I have to do now is save like mad in order to have as much time off work as possible...!
I guess as I am due at the very end of Sept everyone else has had their scan etc?
I hope you don't mind me piggy-backing on this thread so late!

x

bananastew · 29/03/2010 16:10

Welcome legallyblond. There's always room for one more! Congratulations on the pregnancy, I'm pleased everythings going well for you! Hope you haven't had too many umpleasent symptoms!

I'm busy making an easter bonnet for ds! I'm useless at things like that! I think its the biggest down side to being a mummy! The pressure so he doesn't look stupid is horrible! Especially as I can't for the life of remember what colours make brown!

Bessie123 · 29/03/2010 16:14

Hello legallyblonde. I think I remember you from the September bus. Doc said I'm due on 25 Sept but my dates say 29th...

Love2Dance · 29/03/2010 16:19

Red &, er...green? I am impressed. Nursery haven't asked us to make anything as yet.

Welcome Legallyblond. Hope you're enjoying the pregnancy so far. It's a lovely time. If you're nickname is really linked to what you do I hope you have understanding employers and don't have to work too ridiculously hard.

OP posts:
legallyblond · 29/03/2010 16:40

Umm... yes, I am a lawyer, hence the name. I do usually have understanding employers (but they def work us too hard - I think that's par for the course in a London firm!) but they don't yet know that I'm pregnant... so we'll see! I'm telling them at 15 weeks exactly as I happen to have a formal review thing on that date with the head of department etc. I have only just started telling people outside of work (apart from family) as I only got the final "low risk" letter from the blood results plus scan on Friday, and I didn't want to tell people before that!

Are other people showing much yet? I have no "bump", just some extra "thickness" I think, but when I have told friends, they have said "oh, I did think your boobs were looking HUGE and/or your waist seemed to have explanded a little"!

I can't wait until I tell people at work so I can finally stop sucking my tummy in all day!!

Any Londeners here?? Got a weekend there this weekend. We're staying at the Park Plaza Riverbank. We're aiming to shop in the afternoon. Got a table booked at ASK at 5.30 Then going to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria. Is that all in walking distance?! Whats the best idea for parking round there?

As for the paint I tried red & green. It worked well enough. Thanks!

comixminx · 29/03/2010 20:34

Love2Dance - hope to goodness it's not a hernia! I'm sure it can't be, mind you.

bananastew · 29/03/2010 21:08

Londoners!!!

Love2Dance · 29/03/2010 21:53

Londoners? Wot? Me?

I think Park Plaza Riverside is just south of the river (over Vauxhall Bridge). Apollo Victoria is north of the river very close to Victoria Train Station. The main road to walk to get from one to the other is Vauxhall Bridge Road. I reckon it's about 3/4 of a mile. 15 mins at a decent pace. Longer if you're in heels or it's chucking down. Lots of buses go along VB Rd though. If late at night, I would probably cab it.

As for parking, London tends to be a bit of a nightmare. I recall that not far from the Plaza there are some residential streets behind the main road that we parked in once when going to a club, but watch out for when the "residents only" parking restrictions stop and start (some stop at 1.30 pm Saturdays, others go to 6.30 pm or even midnight).

Your hotel should be able to give you info about local, safe parking.

bananastew · 30/03/2010 08:06

Thanks L2D We'll risk walking it if its only 3/4 mile! We're country folk! Not used to getting buses or cabs! What a terrible admission!!!

bellabelly · 30/03/2010 08:56

The tube station near your hotel (Vauxhall) is on the Victoria line so if you are going back to the hotel to freshen up etc before theatre in the evening, you'd be miles better getting the tube - northbound victoria line to Victoria station, rather than walking. Think it's only 2 stops on the tube so would be v quick and no changes to worry about.

Monstermuncher · 30/03/2010 09:06

Hello ladies, I hope everyone is well. Nothing much to report here apart from the fact that it is snowing! The icy pavements a few weeks back terrified me, esp as I did take a tumble so I am hoping that this bad weather passes quickly :-(

bellabelly · 30/03/2010 09:11

Oh my goodness monster - snow?! Are you in Scotland? Know what you mean about icy pavements, take care.

Monstermuncher · 30/03/2010 09:24

Thanks Bellabelly. I'm in Glasgow. I think the safest option is just to stay indoors and scoff easter eggs

Love2Dance · 30/03/2010 11:16

BRRrrr. Feeling for you Monstermuncher. Not as cold down here but miserable and grey. I have yearning for a very spicey Thai Tom Yam soup...probably because I'm in middle of horrible cold. Roll on proper spring eh?

lifeas3plus1 · 30/03/2010 11:31

Hi all, Only just found this thread so thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm pregnant with Dc2 and due 17th September. Been great this time, no sickness or exhaustion. Don't have a bump AT ALL yet though which is strange as with Ds (11months) I had people saying "Not long now" at just 16weeks pregnant.

My hormones are all over the place though.

My Dp works away during the week so it gets kinda lonely.

Anyway hope to get chatting soon.

Jaysfourth · 30/03/2010 13:54

Hi all

welcome lifeas3plus1, my hormones all over the place too at the moment. Thought i had got over all the crying at everything, and feeling down in the dumps one minute and up the next, bu this time round for me it just seems to be a rollercoaster!

welocme legallyblonde also, i went throught the 'thickness' stage , have now managed to progress onto the alomost a bump! good luck with your review

Monster - i cant believe you have snow, like lovetodance, its cold, grey and miserable here, but thankfully no snow..when will it brighten up so i can take my brood to the park without them moaning its 'cold, i want to go home'

Banana - have a great time away, its a great show, 'Wicked' Makes me chuckle though when i think about my experience there, i was still B/F DS and in the interval i had to go to the loo's and 'release' some milk as i was going to explode!! i felt bad as i couldnt keep it and ended up flushing it down the loo what a waste.. but i had to do it, it was that or spray the row in front of me!!!!

comixminx - i know what you mean, I cant say i can visibly see a 'lump' but that could be down to the comfort layer i have over my stomach! It def feels like it 'contracts ' much more

Arctic - Rigby and Peller provide bras for the Queen dont they? I would love to go to their shop and be measured up and get a few bras!

Hi to everyone else nothing much to report here, seems like the waiting game again, i have my 20 weeks scan next Friday, so am counting the days till then. Hoping all will be ok, and that she is growing well!

Right off to watch Dora ( yay......)

oh btw - i tend to have a glass or two of Rose during the week time....i have done with all my pregnancies and not been detrimental at all!

19wks

Love2Dance · 30/03/2010 16:32

Jaysfourth I'm really glad someone else takes a sensible view about what to eat and drink. Someone else mentioned it too, but I'm sorry I can't remember who. I have had an occasional drink. Round Christmas before I knew I was pregnant I was scoffing Stilton, Brie and Camembert. I eat prawns (ok, cook from frozen from the supermarket), but I would buy from the fishmonger too and eat a prawn sandwich from a trusted shop like M&S or Pret.

One of you asked about Mozarella (I think after I was moaning about a narrow menu choice at a work dinner). Moz is ok because it's pasturised. Mould ripened cheeses like Brie, blue cheeses and unpasturised cheeses are not ok. Did you know the latter includes most Parmesan that you buy? Well, that's one I'm taking no notice of. Only have it in small amounts grated on to pasta anyway.

Hi bananastew - my husband used to manage the restaurant at riverbank park plaza and i can vouch for it if you fancy eating there one night.
As for driving, i wouldn't as it's always a pain to park it's only a 10 min walk if that to the tube which goes straight into town (2 stops from Vauxhall) and then about 15 mins in a cab back later on which shouldn't cost more than £12 if that as you're very close. Don't forget to get an oyster card tho or you'll be stung on paying single tube fairs!
i can't remember who was asking about bras but i went into mamas and papas at lunch time and they've got some lovely bras and not expensive (and if you buy 3 at the moment you get 20% off)! worth going too as i had my bra size totally wrong!
welcome lifeas3plus1 and legallyblond, am very jealous of your non-bump as i look about 6 months! might be the giant dairymilk i ate at the weekend .
