ski

excellent, sign me up..........

CurlyCasperReturns · 19/03/2010 14:08

Exciting times iggy and sal! Hope you find buyers soon. Is a good time of year as I said earlier.

sal I have nowhere to move to yet. we're going to rent till I finish maternity leave, to keep costs down, then we'll make out move on a bigger, better house (hopefully in the country)once I'm earning my full salary again. It just seemed silly to add hundreds a month to our mortgage right when we'll have so much less money being earned.

Please cross your fingers for us for the 4-bed place in a lovely wee village that I'm currently trying to get a viewing of. They allow dogs and everyfink. Just hope the interior is ok and there isn't too much competition.

My doppler batteries died. But now I can feel her wriggling, I am not so fussed. Was very good to have from 10-20 weeks though. I'm actually quite looking forward to my 25week app when they will finally palpate my bump and listen to baby's heart. The joy of being classes "high risk" is all the additional AN appointments.

BTW - does everyone carry their maternity record with them at all times? Should I be doing do or is it too soon?

salander · 19/03/2010 14:14

casp hmmmm, you interest me with the renting chat - i am a bit stoopid when it comes to this stuff and hadn't really thought of that as an option - like it though. have similar plan to move to country but seems hard when will have no money for higher mortgage.

wee hoose in village sounds just loverly - i will keep evryfink crossed

casp/rots from whence did you purchase doppler thingmies? i is thinking they may help my menkulness

CurlyCasperReturns · 19/03/2010 14:19

sal see here

rollerbaby · 19/03/2010 14:23

Ah a lady after my own heart. I too am (ahem) working from home today Ski. I think it's totally fair enough that boys do dog duty...although I did take ickle hairy moo for a walk today, which also involved a detour round a friend's house for tea. Little monkey hasn't worked out about eating poo yet thank god, but he does like to sniff them by jove. Haven't come across any homeless peeps on clapham common as yet, but I'm sure he'd be straight over. He has to say hello to bloody everybody before we leave the bloody park. Even if they sit on his head or try to bite him (he has no concept of I don't like you, go away).

Sal you're a BALLERINA??????? How deeply impressed am I? Very. I danced from age 4 -15 then discovered boys, got boobs and spots. Given the shape I am now, I would have made a pretty shit ballerina, but I will obviously force all my children into the arts and be an overbearing mother who watches ALL ballet classes and criticises from the side. I got accepted into Arts Educational stage school age 11 (when I had no boobs or spots). Parents couldn't afford it, so ended up at the local convent, what irony. Anyway I like to think it was a lucky break and I probably would have ended up on Hollyoaks as a extra.

Carrots fear not, I only wanted this one to check heart beating strongly and everything ok (last time there was only a very feint beat as so early) so will now be adhering to the normal schedule don't worry.

Twitty also have a SIL's sister who is 3 months ahead of me. I am already predicting debates over who goes where this xmas.

Mr moo is upstairs sleeping off feeling "a little bit sick". I was totally unsympathetic - whinging arse.

salander · 19/03/2010 14:24

thanks v much curlywurly off to peruse.....

salander · 19/03/2010 14:27

honey yup tis really so. man i love my job. although v busy just now (well not right this moment obv, having cup of tea between rehearsals and about to go for physio) is just the best ever.

SkaterGrrrrl · 19/03/2010 14:39

Honey so pleased about the reasurance scan. It is the best feeling knowing the bump is A-Ok.

And Happy Birthday Cunty!

pandora69 · 19/03/2010 14:47

Rots It's lovely! Can I come and stay? After I've been to Norway, of course. Btw Your bro is definitely not my bro. Yes, they are both in Russia, but mine is a serial runner-away-from-girls-who-scare-him-with-talk-of-commitment. So far he has gone through a whole multinational cornucopia of leggy foreign lovelys who all seem to want babies immediately. (Do you see what working in an office for a day has done to my language )

Sal you can come and sit next to me - a pilot who can't fly and a ballerina who can't dance! What kind of woman is this thread attracting?!

Cunty Happpppy Birfday! Always nice to have your birthday not on a school night.

Ski doggy - just yuk! And no, you have one too many great big horses already. Besides, I is a natural beauty what doesn't need make up.

Anyway. Being all serious now. I'm just watching the news - what a fucking mess! Will I have a job to go back to or will the company have crumbled in little pieces, I wonder.

skihorse · 19/03/2010 14:53

pandora So... we're both off to poniez skool then?

honey I'm not billable right now so I'm trying to launch a wimmin's network for my country - however so far I have 4 other interested wimmins. Wtf? Now I know laydee engineers are like hen's teeth but c'mon. What would make you sign up? French rugby team naked? Poniez & candy-floss?

OP posts:
rollerbaby · 19/03/2010 18:25

Ski I is liking the sound of naked french (although not that fussy about the nationality to be honest) rugby team on poniez, eating candy floss. Now there's a La Chapelle photo shoot waiting to happen.

Laydee engineers are jolly useful. I can only imagine how good you must be at DIY. My husband struggles to tell a spanner apart from a screwdriver. I was discouraged from doing GCSE physics so need not say more.

rollerbaby · 19/03/2010 18:27

Cunty have you had a nice birfday? To celebrate I am making you rib eye steak with dauphinoise potatoes and broccoli and trifle for pudding.

CUNextTuesday · 19/03/2010 20:19

It's all very kind of you, but can we do it all again tomorrow? Because that's my actual birthday

So, in summary, I have steak and my fave spuds, Lidl cocktail mixes, champers and a big fat choc cake. Well that will just do nicely!

Cokie · 19/03/2010 20:28

Here cunty have two birthdays like the Queen.

CUNextTuesday · 19/03/2010 20:49

Like the Queen? I am the Queen! Queen of fucking everything me!

Cosmosis · 19/03/2010 21:18

Harpy biffday cuntylicios.

Here, have a cocktail wiv a sparkler in.

givecarrotsachance · 19/03/2010 22:26

Humph ski overpriced it may be but I can dream... Aktoolee lots of lurvely places over there at pretty good prices. But still need to find a way to earn a living.

Hmm, dancer who can't dance, pilot who can't fly and ethical baby clothes seller who can't sell baby clothes coz she keeps nicking them . Just been pre-washing my latest batch of nappies I've bought "just to try some new brands".

Talking about flying, I can't bloody fly either - no microlighting for me until I become un-semi-detached . Gliding was ok unless I couldn't fit into cockpit/have full movement of controls (which seemed fair) but nooooo ML has to have different rules .

VERY impressed that we have such a range of talent here. Ballet dancer eh. Corrr.

CUNextTuesday · 19/03/2010 23:45

@ 'semi-detached'

Does one have to wash baby clothes before one's wee'un wears them?

skihorse · 20/03/2010 02:58

cunty We're supposed to as they're full of chemicals to make them look shiny & new, said chemicals will make Rasta's skin fall off. Put them on a boil wash 5 times and they'll be good as er... new.

OP posts:
pandora69 · 20/03/2010 07:54

Rots, we are allowed to fly in the second trimester, it's just that my boss grounds preggo women and then it's too much faff to get them all re-checked out (in a new bigger uniform) and passengers get scared in case the mad hormonal woman at the controls has a funny turn. They don't realise I don't have to be pregnant to have funny turns I can't remember how far along you are, but if it's more than 27 weeks - forget it. Oh, just realised you are talking about microlights too - in that case definitely forget it! You'd overbalance it Mad, mad things!

cunty I was ignorant of all this pre-baby washing last time round and have always put them on DD straight out of the packet, and she is fine - her skin has not dropped off yet. I was too busy trying to make sure (quite literally) that we had a roof over our head in time for DD's arrival last time. I didn't even HAVE a washing machine! All this crap is sent to make us paranoid.

Ski so what's the cryptic hint about poniez skool all about then? Did I miss something? Are you going to be teaching them, or will they be teaching you?

givecarrotsachance · 20/03/2010 09:21

LOL pandora, I feel you're not totally supportive of the ML thing . Well, me neither but I insist you try gliding. You'll love it, and obv find it really easy as the controls are just the same other than there's no engine LOL. Landing is a bit cruder too, as a) you land on your belly and b) the airbrakes are somewhat basic . But the good thing is you get to wear a parachute .

cunty conventional cotton clothing comes complete with a coating of formaldehyde for various reasons. If you don't go organic, look for the Oeko-Tex standard which although is conventional cotton (usually - it may ALSO be organic but would say so if it was) it is presented without harmful chemicals on the material.

I personally would pre-wash conventional clothing but LC had bad eczema so it affected his skin. Most babies can be put straight into just-bought normal clothes, as pandy says. It's not scare-mongering, I disagree there, but more that some babies are more prone to reacting than others and you quickly find which is which. We have bad skin problems in our family - if you don't you're prob ok.

Can I also recommend washing in soap nuts rather than regular stuff (and if you use regular stuff always use non bio). Soap nuts aren't good for adult clothing where the sweat is stronger and more fatty, and needs a stronger detergent to break it down. But they're great for kiddie and baby clothes as they wash out sick, poo and mud which is all you need, and leave the clothes without an additional layer of smelly chemicals. It's interesting how you may not notice the washing powder scent until you don't get it and clothes just smell all fresh and cottony and lovely.

ALWAYS wash your nappies in non bio, NEVER bio or colour care, or you can use soap nuts (but you will prob need the detergent). Never, ever use fabric softener. If you need to soften them over time, put a dash of white vinegar (the white malt kind, not white wine) in the fabric softener part of your machine. You do need to pre-wash nappies about 3 times (with no detergent, just water) before use. Don't bother drying in between. This gets them nice and absorbant.

horse girls Very sad to read in H&H that Karen Dixon's horse Get Smart was put down He was 30, but it's one of those moments where another classic, outstanding horse is lost to history

CUNextTuesday · 20/03/2010 10:36

Soap nuts? Sounds like an insult I'd hurl at Hom . Well you live and learn. Non-bio soap nutz... any idea where on god's green earth I may find such a thing?

Ref washing - so anything that I haven't bought from you I should wash? In soap nutz loving soap nutz... I have on & off eczema myself and wouldn't wish it on Rastus, bless his aggravating little diaphragm-kicking feet.

Am starting with low level cramping mither. Please don't tell me this is me and BH being bezzie mates for the next 3 months? I'm not sure my fuse is long enough....

CurlyCasperReturns · 20/03/2010 11:45

Morning all, and happy actual birthday to cunty

Just found the perfect house in the perfect village. Just hope we "win" it in the rental battle. Fingers crossed. Seeing a few more today and tomorrow, but this place has my heart for now.

Super Saturday rugby fans! Though I'm having a good friend to stay tonight so not sure how much I'll see. Hey ho, it's not like Scotland is going to win the tournament.

Headbanger · 20/03/2010 12:10

Hello? Hello?

BESH Headbanger here! Greetings and fish-slaps all round!

Um, may a BESH ask a gussetty sort of question?

Ahem. Here goes. I am 6 DPO and due in 8 days. Yesterday I kept thinking, by Jove I have pissed myself! But hadn't. And now I am getting spotting. Weird, brown spotting. And - avert eyes if you're squeamish - I had a bit of a poke around, and the spotting has kind of bits in. Almost like the bit that comes off when you have a blister. Feeling sick yet, PESHes?!

Anyway. I never have bleeding between cycles so in my menkul state I am thinking IMPLANTATION BLEED! Does it ring any bells with you lot? And has anyone got a hairdryer for my moist nethergarments?

skihorse · 20/03/2010 15:08

Ewwww banger's weed herself. I have no experience in such matters, early implantation I mean - the weeing is something I am learning about.

Happy birthday cunty! Would you like a gin cocktail or a herbal tea? Perhaps an ibuprofen to give your little person something to think about?

pandora Noooo... nothing cryptic - I simply meant that if you're to join the great unwashed and I choose to do so then we could go to Writtle (or the like) and do horse courses.

curly That all sounds very promising! I hope you win it.

I've been in to town and bought a feeding pillow to wrap around myself when sleeping which I hope will help. My bump is growing by the day now - no mistake. I stalked a lady with a maxi-cosi in the supermarket and no, I'm not proud - but because I'm now showing I don't look like a scary-babysnatcher. I hope.

I barfed again this morning - cheers Jules.

carrots I just didn't think it was all that & a bag of chips. I've seen nicer places and nicer prices and that place wasn't even in an amazing location. You simply must visit my chateau in Tuscany one year.
