Ski, I see!

Well, I've been scanning t'internet all day (not been able to watch the TV for fear switching it on triggers demands for Roary the Racing Car instead!) It would appear that initial estimates show 50% of roster cabin crew coming into work, and even better - loads who weren't rosted have come in as volunteers. They have enough cabin crew in today that they are even re-opening some of the cancelled flights, and they are standing down pilot volunteers as they have enough cabin crew. So boo-yah to the cabin crew union bosses! (Who incidently were so keen to add their support to the strike that all but 3 of them phoned in sick this morning So it looks as though I will have a job to go back to. Let's hope it is the same as the one I had before! Last time I went on maternity leave3 they all upped sticks and moved to Terminal 5. It was like starting out all over again!

Anyway - onto something much more fun. Horsey gals I did something irresponsible but necessary today - I jumped some logs in the woods. Big horse is advertised next week in Horse and Hound, and I didn't want him to go and never had my last jump on him, so best friend babysat me on a hack and then very kindly agreed not to berate me if it all went wrong. Although she couldn't see why it would! They were only little logs in the woods which we have jumped hundreds of times before. Big horse jumped them like a dick First of all, he was out with his girlfriend and didn't want to leave her side to do the jumps. Then he got himself ridiculously excited that we had jumped a few piles of twigs. Then, when best friend went to jump them he got all upset because he thought his girlfriend was running away. But I was very pleased to have had my last little jump - he's a good boy really. He's going to Tweseldown tomorrow with my helper girl, so he better hadn't be a dick there.

And now I am all tired again. I should be tidying the garage out, but I'm just going to sit here instead!

skihorse · 20/03/2010 16:36

Pfff I really wouldn't sweat jumping a few logs - it's not like you were clearing 5' against the clock! Sounds fun! Tbh I'm not sure how a few jumps is any more dangerous on your known horse than any other type of riding.

pandora69 · 20/03/2010 16:45

I jumped logs in the woods when I was pregnant with DD, but I waited till I was out hacking by myself to do it so there would be noone to tell me off. I realise now that it would be better to have someone there to call for help should I go splat, as OH would not have a clue where to start looking if big horse returned home by himself. Now I have DD I am actually a better rider than ever before and have until just before Christmas been very happy jumping 3'6" - 4' showjumps and would school round intermediate XC fences, but just don't have quite the gung-ho attitude while pregnant I had before I had DD. It sounds wet, I know, but you don't realise how much there is to loose until you've actually popped out your first one. After that you get all cautious.

Now look what you made me do Ski you made me go all gooey. Have a slap round the chops for that! Of course I have been extremely cautious during this pregnancy - I am just being cautious in how I go about my preggie jumping, and I was extremely cautious in skiing down the Aiguille Rouge in Jan!

CUNextTuesday · 20/03/2010 17:04

Alright banger? I thought I heard the alarm go off...

I had brahhhhn bits between ov and droid-day and I was cooking a bun. Not sure if that helps or it tips you over into menkulness, but you asked for experiences so there you fucking well go

Hope is the same for you. BTW you must do horses or dogs if you want to come in here, so if you haven't started I'd get on with that as a priority, before you buy any piss sticks...

Headbanger · 20/03/2010 18:08

Allo Cunty. It helps, thanks ever so! Spotting has stopped (I had a good rummage. Nice). But was deffo there.

Have calmed down a bit. No sense being a mentalist until I know for sure 'tis a little iced bun. I might ever so slightly have calculated the due date though

I fear living in a cramped bijou inner-city flat does not readily lend itself to either horses or dogs. But I am A Dog Person: have always been, shall always be. Frequently threaten to steal them from family members. Will that do?!

salander · 20/03/2010 18:12

happy actual birfday cunty -

here in respite from the rugby - scotland appear to be winning but i am by nature a pessimist (or scottish, as its also known) so cannae hack watching it as i still fear the worst.

bangthedrum awright! can't help in slightest with odd symptoms but have everyfink crossed for you anyway

pandy that sounds more hopeful re work - v glad you seem to still be employed!

CurlyCasperReturns · 20/03/2010 19:11

we won, we won, we won! A birthday gift methinks cunster.

banger My implantation temp dip was 5DPO - which lots of people say is too early for actual implantation. I then had spotting (browny red) approx 6/7 days before droid due. I actually thought droid had arrived so decided I was not diffed and went to have a fun weekend away, which involved both smoking and drinking. I had a further supposed implantation bleed (pink with small red flecks) after I knew I was diffed. So yes, it could be a sign. But unfortunately only time will tell. It does not help menkul symptoms spotters, but the consensus among most of use over here (I think) is that there was actually a distinct lack of perceived symptoms at the time, with anything that was/might have been a symptom only becoming clear later on. For me it was a complete lack of immune system.

Painful, stilton-esque breasts? - nada (well not at the very start anyway, bloody hideous now)
sickness? - nada here, and later for the others
metallic taste? - nada
Glowing skin? - yeah right, still waiting.

Happy menkulling m'dear, and I hope you have won a baybee

CurlyCasperReturns · 20/03/2010 19:17

P.S oh yes, dog kidnapping tendencies will do it head!

PPS previous perfect home has been replaced by even nicer perfect home, for just £20 more a month. Gah, the stress! I'm playing the differ card the best I can - nobody wants to see a pregnant woman on the streets do they?

rollerbaby · 20/03/2010 19:18

Headcase I'm with Curly - the month it happened to me, was the one month I had basically written it off. Despite that decided to piss on sticks bored one night after drinking half a bouteille of wine. Hmm. That was the last one - I wish I'd appreciated it a bit more.

So the answer is, nope, no idea and will keep my eyes crossed for you.

Am very fed up of feeling like pants today. Watched Young Victoria and bawled. Now watching Titanic. Cue more wailing I guarantee it.

CurlyCasperReturns · 20/03/2010 19:19

Time to get virtually inebriated.

Posting muchly now before friend arrives, England match begins and roast is served. Perfick.

Headbanger · 20/03/2010 19:30

THANKS PESHes. Is all most illuminating. I suppose on the one hand I'm juggling that whole gut instinct biz (in this case, my periods are like clockwork, and this is 7 days too early for the droid; plus, my tits hurt) with the bald facts of the matter (viz., had I not been checking like a menkulist it's quite possible I wouldn't have noticed the spotting anyway, so maybe this happens every month without me knowing!).

Casper Oh godDAMNit I was looking forward to that elusive radiant glow

Honeymoo I shall return to your post whenever my symptom spotting gets truly insane (witness last cycle, when I convinced myself I could actually feel implantation. It turned out to be merely the effects of an unusually strong jalfrezi on my waste disposal unit )

Slainte to all!

rollerbaby · 20/03/2010 22:00

I do not advise pregnant dog lovers to watch the film Marley and Me. I can't see for crying so much all the way through.

skihorse · 21/03/2010 06:33

banger The day/s I conceived we were moving house, under a lot of stress - I didn't eat anything which didn't come out of a drive-thru/petrol station or 500ml bottle with a Coca-Cola trademark stmped on the side and I got through about 60 ciggies. Once we'd actually done with the moving we didn't touch each other for over a week as we were so traumatised - I certainly didn't think it'd be our month.

In retrospect I had a stonking pain one day (1 week before testing) in my left hand side when I was riding, I put it down to wearing a pair of breeches several sizes too small. I also had an orgasm when jailbait just touched my nipple and I got a shooting pain in my fanjo when running the bath one night. But unfortunately no neon signs, animals gathering at my feet, stilton boobs or any of the rest of it. There were symptoms of course - but as I'd 2WOOFL'd with the best of them who knows? I ended up testing a day or two late - nerves of steel. The night before I tested I got cramps and felt so stupid and angry with myself that I went to bed in tears, when waking at 6am and realising that I wasn't covered I blood I POAS. The line came up before I'd finished my wee and the rest as they say is history.

I am now 22+3, very healthy, very active little boy despite mother's junk-food/ciggies diet at the beginning and my parma ham/greek yoghurt(who knew)/blue cheese/etc. diet since. In fact blue cheese was a craving in the first few weeks.

skihorse · 21/03/2010 06:36

honeymoo I turned on the TV yesterday morning to find "The Black Stallion". Totally inappropriate viewing for children and differs.

cunty Didn't we do well?

banger Ought to mention, I also got my progesterone spot on my chin which made me think it was game over. I didn't temp or piss on OV sticks or any of that other white witch malarky.

pandora I think riding out with someone else is good for peace of mind, although in honesty, how many times have you fallen in your life so badly you've needed to call an ambulance but your dialling fingers wouldn't work? Glad you had fun, it sounds great! At 14 weeks or so I had a massive long gallop up a long, windy track and lost a stirrup - hurrah!

OP posts:
Headbanger · 21/03/2010 08:02

Thanks ever so, you bunch. Ski I feel less like I should be burned at the stake for my beer & Silk Cut t'other night...

I tested this morning and got a "NOT PREGNANT YOU DAFT CAAAAAAAAAH" message, but there is of course a possibility that this is owing to my period not being due for 7 days

I dislike this descent into the crazy so I'm going to not think about it. No more spotting, though I do have super sensitive nipples ... but fing is, I keep imagining Ben Goldacre sitting me down and explaining that I'm running a flawed experiment and probably get this biz mid-cycle every month and never think to look for it.

Sheeeeee-it. Imma put the kettle on. Thanks once again fellas. Hope I get to hang out with y'all soon, only legitimately

Ponymum · 21/03/2010 09:25

Ponymum is ill. Vomiting and runny bum beyond description. I am weak, dizzy and aching all over. What is wrong with me?

Was feeling queasy since about Thursday, managed to somehow keep it together for a big important meeting on Friday afternoon, then on the way home... I puked on the side of the road. My sincere apologies to the good citizens of Leeds. No, it was not a drunken slag who made that mess outside your house, it was a fat pregnant woman in a business suit. This is a nasty illness. I really hope it's not hurting the baby.

bangy I realise that menkul pissing on sticks is in the BESH tradition, but I'm with ski. The month I got my BFP I was very disciplined and waited until the aktool day before testing. (Of course I then went through 2 days of confusion as I had used the cheapo ebay tests and really couldn't be sure until Mr Clear Blue told me so...)

ski How did I miss The Black Stallion? It was my favourite book when I was nine.

skihorse · 21/03/2010 09:36

ponymum Do you want your nappy changed? Btw, did you see carrots post about getting you to Newcastle for the B/PESH meet? Have you been to the doctor at all?

Black Stallion was on Dutch TV. In between porn and cheese & tulip programmes obv.

OP posts:
Ponymum · 21/03/2010 10:18

ski You jest, but 'tis cruel. In my delirieum on Friday I said to MrP that I really thought I needed some sort of nappy rig as I appeared to have no control in that department. Thankfully I have somehow survived without major accident.

Have not been to doctor as I am not even the sickest one in this house, the poor foal has had to take priority. MrP took her off to hospital yesterday for her screaming, writhing, inability to breathe and sleep at night. On top of the chest infection it appears she has... asthma. We have been worried about this for a while but it's a bit tough at 18 mths old. She has been brilliant learning how to use the inhaler though, bless her. MrP is also sick but was so worried about the foal he forgot to get meds for his own chest infection while at the hospital.

It's times like this I wish we had some family close by. We are so sleep-deprived and have no resources left. We lay in bed last night and freaked out over how on earth we are going to cope with another baby. I'm sure everything will look better when we're well again.

rots Thanks for the offer and will get in touch shortly.

CUNextTuesday · 21/03/2010 11:35

Why are people taking my name in vain?? curly I don't have a scrap of celtic blood in me and I'm not sure why ski thinks I've done well... what have I done? I know I've not been drunk so I should by rights remember

pone hope this is a 24/48hr thing. What a miserable set of events for you all

skihorse · 21/03/2010 12:12

cunty, I did of course mean curly. Sorry... I'm sure you did well at something though. Tell us all about your fabulous birthday then!

pony That sounds miserable, I'm sorry. I too worry about how we'll cope with no family around but I suppose we'll just have to man up and get on with it. If it's any consolation Julian had me barfing again this morning - and again I weed a bit. This pregnancy stuff is just non-stop glamour.

CUNextTuesday · 21/03/2010 12:22

I feel a bit barfy today too , lots of burps.

Aw birthday was good - got a new Fossil watch and a microwaveable teddy bear for me and Rastus's lie downs to open and then getting Ragdale Hall preggo treatments when I go with my chum just after Easter. Looking forward to that BIG TIME.

Lots of visitors during the day and a posh meal last night. Had champagne cocktail, and a pasta dish with blue cheese sauce. In my defence though I had a lovely baggy long top on which made me look Not Pregnant, so Iwas allowed all those things. Stopped short of having the foie gras pate for starters, so can pride myself on that

CurlyCasperReturns · 21/03/2010 13:48

sorry cunty must have got things confuddled. I thought you were half Scottish. Think I also read sal's message about the match as being from you. Can I blame preggo brain? Glad you had a good birthday in the end.

And sorry to pony about the illness. Hope you feel better very, very soon.

CUNextTuesday · 21/03/2010 13:51

curly no, proper Lancashire through and through

I have mash for brains myself - have you noticed how the grasp on this thread is slipping away from some of us? Ascribing comments to wrong people, forgetting each others names, losing track of convos - lol we're a right preggo shower we are
