PS you're probably right about the clients!

CUNextTuesday · 19/03/2010 08:16

Isn't Norway a bit of a long commute ski?

skihorse · 19/03/2010 08:23

pandora Just for you I'm wearing a sweaty thong and low-rise jeans! Yep, back- breaking work and I'm not exactly some lanky git anyway! I do seem to have a bit of wanderlust as this is my seventh country I think. I would love to live in Scotland - at some point, but not right now.

cunty I would live there innit - by the seaside and become an eco-mum and then at weekends drive my gaz-guzzling 4X4 up to the mountains for skiing and hooray-henrying - you yourself know that all snow sports enthusiasts are old Etonions! Norway has some truly tremendous skiing which is well kept secret. Plus, we've been back over a year already and jailbait is still carrying around Krone in his pocket. Mind you, he's got an Edinburgh bus ticket and about 6 months worth of shopping lists - you never know eh?

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 19/03/2010 08:30

Well it sounds just lovely and I'm thrilled that you've invited us all to stay for the ski season, that is SO generous. I'm sure jailbiat and Hom will get on just fine with their manyl tales of derring-do, and also I have some UAE dirhams left over from a conference I spoke at, if he wants to compare left over currency.

skihorse · 19/03/2010 08:36

cunty But do you keep it in your purse? Just in case you run out of sterling and you feel like a bit of a barter with the checkout person in Tesco? That, right there, is the difference between me and women. Oh, you, jailbait and hom would go off and leave me and take the piss out of me for have two planks. I know your sort.

Btw, if you're planning to stay for more than a week you might want to sell the baybee... very expensive to eat in Norway. But you've got to weigh it up yourself - baybee vs. ski season.

CUNextTuesday · 19/03/2010 08:47

It is in my purse along with 70 Euro from the January before last and if I'm not much mistaaaaaaaken..... yep! 230 Swedish Kroner!

CurlyCasperReturns · 19/03/2010 10:31

cold pizza at 10am. Nom Nom NOM!

Anyone else feel like they need a bra for their bump? My SPD belt does the job a bit, but it doesn't half hurt when I walk at speed. Poor dog isn't very keen at ambling along with fattie

Hoppy bumfluff for tomorrow cuntarse! Anything nice planned?

CUNextTuesday · 19/03/2010 10:37

No.

No presents to open, nowehere to go. Hom ripping out bathroom so doesn't want to waste a precious weekend day by going out, but is taking me out for posh dinner later when I will definitely be having a glass of champagne. Sister coming round at 11am but has declined to bring the dog so there is an excuse for a waddle into Richmond Park for fresh air, and apparently has to 'rush back to sort out her garden' - she didn't specify further.

So it's basically a day on my jackie jones punctuated by a brew with my sister (the one that said in response to my telling her about mc - 'Oh well, you know, these things happen for a reason). I'll be staring out of the window forlornly like a kid who has to do his violin practice staring at his mates playing out

Happy days.

SkaterGrrrrl · 19/03/2010 11:20

Mini thread-only AIBU: It is wrong of me to want to start cancelling plans with people?

We've been invited to the first barbeque of the year on Sat. It will mean 90 minute train journey each way plus its forecast to rain. Everyone will be drinking and I just dont have the energy (for the train journey more than anything).

I have a 90 minute train journey this afternoon to my mum's SuperStylingGynae which will take me ages to get home from; and another gruesome train journey on Sunday to a friend's baby shower also at the other end of town (cannot back out as I missed her hen do).

More trains to the other end of London for a BBQ in the rain makes me want to cry just thinking about it.

SilverSky · 19/03/2010 11:23

Happy friday gals. I am officially in double figures! 10weeks yesterday and no real sick feeling. But have small pain in right hand side of tum. Prob growing pains.

Talking of growing. Husband thinks I am showing and I was an emotional wreck last night crying cos my norks are so big and now my tum is racing to catch up with it! Husband laughed at my menkulness!

givecarrotsachance · 19/03/2010 11:58

cunty happy birfday xxxx

skater not at all. This time is yours. Do what you want to do, and that's all you should do.

pandy ar you sure you're not mistaking him for my brother? Mine's travelled since leaving uni (he's now 34) and as you may know, is marrying a Russian girl in Crimea in May which we're travelling to (skater now THAT'S a journey AND with small boy in tow so you are COMPLETELY unreasonable - no, I'm kidding). I also was knackered last night. Fell asleep on the sofa at 8.30 and went to bed at 10.30, whereupon a very small boy decided to keep me awake by kicking me in turns on my cervix, bladder and belly. I lay in bed at half past one listening to YOB snoring and feeling like I was bruising from the inside, and had to very carefully change my mindset from WAAAAAAHHHHHHH to a chorus from a hymn from the Spiritualist church which I chant to myself in such times:

"Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done,
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done."

While the last time I went to that church was about 8 years ago this chorus just sticks in my mind in a simultaneous "oh ye Gods that's sooooo corny and trite and just far too fluffy and yuck and eeewwwww" and "it's true, I should".

So there I was, laying in bed, singing this in my head and it does make me think things differently. From "Ow" and "Shurrup" to "I have a lovely husband who is alive and well (with the proof clear to hear) and a sweet baby who is strong and growing (with the proof clear to feel). I was still awake, but happier about it!

Problem was, every now and then another thought slipped in with the god element of it - bloody gods making women have to carry their babies next to their bladders - clearly a bloke...

Anyway.

cas fantastic news! I really hope it goes smoothly for you. We have a viewing Sunday and Tuesday so I hope some of that luck rubs off on us!

pandy I thought you looked very slim in the photo and was a bit TBH.

pony given that I will be driving up the A1 to see ski, do you want to consider me picking you up and taking you? Obv you may not be up to it at the time but I would be very happy to if you'd like to. Last time we discussed your location you were a bit off the beaten so given how far it is anyway it may be best if you can get over to the A1, but if not I can work around it. Contact me direct through my contacts page on my website if you prefer so we can talk specifics. Think about it anyway.

Who mentioned OBEM? I totally agreed re ponylaydee. Shame it went wrong for her but baby and she seemed ok at the end. I felt so sorry for her BF being left in the corridor like that. Really upset YOB too. Other lady was great though - excellent midwife who stayed with her and she just got on with it and did just fine. That's how it should be. Nice to see a good, positive birth story again.

givecarrotsachance · 19/03/2010 12:01

silver congrats! I was showing at 7 weeks but it was entirely farts

cas yes, I'm going to buy a belly support thing. Dog walking most uncomfortable.

rollerbaby · 19/03/2010 12:03

Good new Silver! Can't wait to get there and lose the permanent hangover feeling.

No Skater it is an entirely new set of rules now. Frankly any engagements past 6pm are only considered if I can have a serious nap beforehand. So basically our weekday evenings go something like this: Moo gets home. Moo whinges for 30 minutes about feeling sick/hungry/tube journey/tired. Mr Moo tries to cook (bless him) but sometimes fails and orders takeaway. Moo hogs Mr Moo's laptop whilst also watching OBEM or similar. Mr Moo gets the right fking hump and stomps upstairs. Moo has bath, goes to bed and leaves Mr Moo to deal with puppy.

So I think you are perfectly rational. Can you drive and leave early? At least you can get away before everyone gets twatted. And also BBQ in March? WTF???

So today had 2nd reassurance scan. Whoooppeee. Am menkul I know especially as last one only 2.5 weeks ago. Was brilliant and heard heartbeat, saw our little cm long bean and dr said that my gestional sack was "perfectly round and smooth" . I have now promised Mr moo no more scans until 12 weeks.

And it's Friday!

rollerbaby · 19/03/2010 12:04

Also Skater I wimped out of SIL birthday last night but called ahead and bought them a severely large jug of cocktails to relieve my guilt.

CurlyCasperReturns · 19/03/2010 12:17

Bollocks cunty. Hope he makes it up to you later. Jeez, it's not like you're carrying his unborn child or anything... . Mind you, at least you can hold it against him and demand a proper boozy, indulgent weekend (sans Rastus) next year.

Thanks rotty and good luck to you - it's getting into that better time of year for all things property...

Congrats to 10-week silver and YANBYU to skates. You are allowed to not be arse. Thems is the rulez.

scanobsessed - glad to hear it went well. Looks like you are cultivating a film star already

iggypiggy · 19/03/2010 12:23

cuntalina Happy Birfday!!!!!!!! Bollocks to dearth of presents etc. Hope this is rectified...

glad you had another good scan moomoo is nice to have the pics innit...

skates YANBU - I am flaky at the best of times re: evening plans, so cancel away i say!

v. pleasing for your offer gasps our house has just had board put up outside

oh yeah - and ski you am right - less essays in those subjects! you gotta do what you want to do - I reckon!

I have no news - except I have been out 3 nights in a row and am feeling bit tired today...

skihorse · 19/03/2010 12:23

Will get back to you all later but honeymoo - jailbait just said "I know that man's life!".

OP posts:
rollerbaby · 19/03/2010 12:32

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUNTY!!! Make the most of your day watching crap telly and eating biscuits won't you.

Curly good name for me. In fact you could put a fair few words in front of the 'obsessed' bit.

iggy 3 nights out? you are my hero . I can't actually imagine going to a pub or similar... the smell of wine makes me want to yakk.

Ski ha ha. Mr moo feels better than he is not alone. But real progress has been made this week. My utter patheticness has provided the catalyst for Mr Moo to buy me my very own laptop. Yipppeeee. I'm of course insisting on top of the range mac book like him. ;) Of course now we can just communicate via email which will hopefully mean we will argue less.

salander · 19/03/2010 13:08

moomoo you have just described my life! sure mrsalander would agree with mrmoo and jailbail also - he cannae do anything right at the mo, bless him

by the way i am also scan obsessed - it has been a whole 2 weeks since my last one, and is 2 looooong weeks to my booking scan 6th april - AIBU to want another one in the meantime????!?!??!?!!? please someone talk some sense into me

cunty happy birfday!

caspa/iggs we haz also just put hoose on the market but haz nowhere to move to should it by some miracle sell

skates you are def NBU, - BBQ in march??? its still fricking cold up ere so can't see that being a joy tbh.

ski hmmmmmmmmm - def choose subject you have minimal writing stuff in, not sure how well essays and small baby mix although know loads of folk do it - i would never cope but i am a bit shit at the written stuff. hence the career as a ballet dancer.

performances start in about 3 weeks. think this will be the last things i dance in this year as not sure much career for fat ballerina

givecarrotsachance · 19/03/2010 13:15

sal and scan obsessed girls: remember that scans work by exciting the atoms in the baby, and often babies don't like it (they cringe away from the scan). So, on the basis that you know all is well and from what you've seen you know you've a 95% chance of a successful pregnancy (up from about 66% without seeing the heartbeat), hold off if you can.

But if you do choose to scan, there's no good evidence to show there's a problem so the chances are, it's going to be fine.

Two sides to the argument, but, there you go.

Just read this and want to find out if I can donate milk to a neo-natal unit nearby - how awful to get the baby through the worst of being prem to have them attacked by bad milk

salander · 19/03/2010 13:18

carrotta - thanks v much for words of sanity . i know you're right, still feel thoroughly preggers (ie like total crap with massive boobs) so no real reason anything is wrong. i do honestly occasionally have some rational thought processed but more often than not they go ott the windae.

have calmed down now.

givecarrotsachance · 19/03/2010 13:42

sal good

From cas's recommendation I bought an angel monitor thing. It is a doppler (so still ultrasound) but I used it every now and then after MS stopped and before movement started. Those few weeks are scaaary.

ski and horsey lot, what do you think?

Not sure about the "bookings for 2009" though

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 19/03/2010 13:54

cunty happy b'day! Have some jelly and ice-cream, to be washed down with a mixture of coke and fanta! Now three cheers for the birthday girl! Ip Ip Ourra - is the amusing cheer around these parts. Hope the day looks up a bit for ya - I always find it totally tragic if I don't have a lovely day with everyone spoiling me on my birthday. I am sensing a touch of that tragedy from you.

I can empathise on the scan obsession sal and Moo - I am really counting the days to Tuesday for mine. The recent light spotting has upset me a bit, despite the kind and sweet reassurance from the differs around here. Still getting a little beige, but no pain.

Off to a big family party on Saturday. The baptism of the firstborn of lovely SIL - the same SIL that is about 10 days ahead of me with baby number 2 and who has already told everyone, causing the beshes to brand her "a thunder-stealing bitch"- which still makes me snigger! I am happy for her though. But we are definitely going to keep it quiet for another while! Can't be dealing with too many questions yet

skihorse · 19/03/2010 13:58

cunty I really do hope you have a lovely, lovely birthday. How about cream tea at Hampton Court Palace? Or go and throw some bread at the deer in the park?

Skater I have turned down most invitations which involve me being off my sofa at 8pm. Sorry, but as someone else mentioned - the rules have changed. Also, there's no way I'd put myself 90 minutes from home knowing I'd be tired. I drove home the other night after a work thing - only a couple of hours later than normal and I was nearly falling asleep at the wheel. I don't give a toss if others think I'm dull.

pandora I have seen your boy on facebook and he really is rather wonderful. I swapped my hamster for a make-up set and I'm rather wondering if you'd do the same? I'll get you some MAC or something.

honey Jailbait is usually on dog duty but weekends and the ocassional week night I go with him for a stroll. I'm working from home (ahem) today so after I'd dropped him off at work I took them out. Little dog had a moment and I saw she was eating something... which was turning her tongue brown. I refer you all to our last thread. There was a man sleeping on a bench so rather than wake him up I headed another direction - UP hill, yes, get me - once again, little dog disappeared but when I called she came running from his direction. Through the trees I saw him collect his posessions and stumble off. That's a rough break, first you find yourself homeless and sleeping on a park bench, then you're woken up by little dog snogging your face, then you realise little dog has been eating poo.

sal/iggy I actually found essays really easy - but I totally agree with I think it was iggy who said it needs to be something I'm passionate about. At the same time there's this sense that I ought to study something with a "goal" - but surely academia for academia's sake is also good? Please to win lottery?

sal That's very glamorous and exciting... you do realise though that if the Royal Ballet no longer wishes to have you at the forefront of the stage I believe there are specialist internet sites for that kind of thing in your kind of "way".

rots Overpriced.
