Snowtiger, I'm impressed! I think I've managed about twice in the last eight and a half months . I think DH is desperately hoping I don't end up with an episiotomy and stiches this time.
I have heard that the Strep B test can be a little unreliable as some days you would test positive, but other days you wouldn't. Not quite sure how that can work. But I understand that if you're recorded as positive, you get a lot more monitoring and antibiotics during labour. However I don't know for sure - I just remember asking midwife about it in my last pregnancy.
Neeko, hope you've managed some sleep.

Snowtiger · 18/03/2010 14:36

Definitely feel like I've done my 'duty' then, Bettymum. DH has nothing to complain about!

PrincessTweetz · 18/03/2010 17:28

Neeko...hope you feel better after your sleep x
I love the question straight after childbirth you get asked.....about contraception!!! I have the biggest form of contraception for about 6 months after birth...no entry!!!!
(I'll be the one who gets pregnant within 2 months this time now I've said that lol ) It was the question that always made me smile after having dd1.....seriously if I was that scared to have a poop after giving birth, how could I possibly even contemplate the other??!! Sorry if I've just brought the thread down in disgust xx

Dwayne - The urine test at booking in time, is that when you actually go into hospital rather than the booking in appointment at 12 weeks. Sorry for being dense!

Is anyone else finding their braxton hicks are increasing in frequency and intensity? Mine have been literally taking my breath away today.

It has dawned on me that I am totally unprepared for labour and a bit clueless. With ds I knew from quite early on that I was having a c-section and as this one had been breech up until last week I assumed it would be another csection. I have been researching this week and realise that I know very little. Thinking of getting a hypno-birthing cd but worried I have left it all a bit late. Friend was talking to me about raspberry leaf tea and arnica yesterday and it feels like a whole new language to me as I didn't have a need to look into any of this stuff before.

My to do list tomorrow - Pack bag and write birthing plan! I have been in total denial about having this baby, I keep telling myself that I have months and yet I am 37 weeks on Sunday!

nicnacinoonoo · 19/03/2010 08:07

i feel like i am quite unprepared for breast feeding. im not sure if i was told more last time, but this time i feel like i know nothing.

my braxton hicks are very intense now as well they really take my breath away. get them in bed at night mostly.

getting really sick of the amount of times i have to get up in the night for a wee too, im almost considering putting a bucket next to the bed its annoying me that much ha

those that were saying a while ago about having skin tags, do they go away on their own or do you have to see someone about them? sorry if im being really thick never got anything like that last time and thought id got away with it this time too but just found one

dh has been very good about the not having sex much this time round and hasnt even been asking for it. must remember how much i went off it last time, and also i had some bleeding after sex at about 28 weeks last time and had to go into hospital (and stay over on christmas eve!) and was advised not to have anymore sex for the rest of the pregnancy so think we were both a bit worried about that happening again this time.

i still need to pack my hospital bag, keep putting it off for some reason. think that will be this weekends job.

Relieved to hear that I'm not the only one with strong, uncomfortable BH. They were getting really quite sore last night when I was doing DD's bedtime, I was starting to get a bit worried, specially since DH was out at a long meeting - but then she was sick everywhere, including all down my trousers, and by the time I'd sorted all that out they'd gone!
Poor thing was sick again this morning, this time in DH's best shoes .
Hello to Wizbit's mum as well .

nicnacinoonoo · 19/03/2010 10:13

ok hospital bag list, im probably leaving something really important out so would love people to add to it:

babygrows
vests
scratch mitts
hats
nappies
cotton wool
bibs
blanket/shawl
nipple cream
pj's
slippers
feeding bra
knickers
sanitary pads
snacks
present for my ds

im not going to take clothes in as i can leave in the clothes and shoes i go in in. im having a cs so will probably be in for 2 and a half to 3 days.

can anyone think of anything else?

ReneRusso · 19/03/2010 11:01

Thanks nicnac, you've inspired me to get my act together as well and pack my hospital bag (or at least think about it).
How about a dressing gown? Some antibacterial wipes (in case the bathrooms are grim), some personal wipes or flannels (in case you don't fancy a bath with csection wound dressing etc). Obviously a sponge bag with toothbrush, cleanser etc. Camera?

flybynight · 19/03/2010 11:49

Bettymum and PrincessTweetz, are you putting together a hospital bag? I know I should in case I have to transfer in to hospital, but, as with so many things at the moment, I just can't be bothered. Today is my last day of trading on my little e-shop business, I have orders to process, and I just want to crawl into bed instead.

nicnacinoonoo · 19/03/2010 12:21

oh yes sponge bag and camera how can i forget those ha. i will have my handbag too obviously with purse and phone etc in

OP posts:
tostaky · 19/03/2010 13:03

and breast pads?

I have done the baby bag, just need to do mine now...
Had a scan on wednesday and baby is 3.3kg, in good position and he has some hair too!! (DS1 is still bold at 16 months old!)
Had my consultant appt today for VBAC i can use the birth pool, but have to be monitored closely.
Will discuss a sweep at 41+1 and they should let me go overdue by 10 days roughly, maybe a bit more if cervix is ripe.
so not too bad...

I havent had any BH though... bit worried...

Bettymum · 19/03/2010 13:03

Hi flybynight yes I've had a bag packed for about three weeks now! I didn't bother last time since I thought I'd be staying at home, but of course I didn't, so had to try and pack a bag at 2 in the morning with a TENS machine attached to me, in between contractions and puking. Not a good plan. So this time I'm being super prepared.
Good luck with your last day of trading, you can relax after today! My last day at work today, looking forward to no more commuting for a while.
nicnac everyone always suggests flipflops for the hospital loos/bathrooms.

stinkypinky · 19/03/2010 13:23

Nicnac - skin tags will shrink a bit post delivery, but if you get preggers again, they may grow so big you cannot have them removed until after baby is born - I have a right testicle (well, not quite that big, but flipping uncomfy as catches in pants) I would recommend discussing with doc - they can usually be nipped off in GP surgery - mine will need hospital intervention, and a stitch or two.

Re sex: feeling horny as hell, but am married to an ARSE, and also have another chest infection, so am finding breathing a challenge. Lots of happy dreams about Wolverine though!

DD back at nursery today (Thank God!) so having a rest.

Hospital bag??? Mmm should really do that some time. Have bought items, but are hidden/lost around house at present.

MOIST TOILET WIPES
ARNICA - for CS esp
PEPPERMINT TEA - for CS

Am taking my crocs as will do in shower plus as slippers and to go there and home in (big fan of crocs)

Zeeky · 19/03/2010 13:23

Nicnac - maybe a pillow, as hospitals can be stingy with their pillows (esp if you are in for a few days). A towel for you for when you have a bath/shower after the birth.

stinkypinky · 19/03/2010 13:26

Definitely pillow, with easy identifiable cover so nobody nicks it.

thedollshouse · 19/03/2010 13:30

nic you may find a nightshirt more comfortable than pjs, especially with a cs wound.

Neeko · 19/03/2010 13:35

lip balm and moisturiser as hospitals are very drying.

Pox still rife here but got a few hours sleep last night. Have a very sore back today Hoping baby stays put for a few more days.

Neeko · 19/03/2010 13:38

Meant to say thatnks to everyone for their sleep thoughts and wizbit where the heck do you find the time?

stinkypinky · 19/03/2010 13:40

Very impressed by WISBIT!

Snowtiger · 19/03/2010 14:17

Astonished by Wisbit! I don't think DH and I have EVER averaged 2 to 4 times a week, or at least not since we first got together! Blimey.

Re hospital bag, make sure your towel is dark in colour Nicnac as you'll bleed on it, and I'd recommend proper maternity pads rather than sanitary pads (not sure if that's what you meant) as the latter don't always cope with the amount of blood.

I'm also taking in snacks (cereal bars, mainly), and some herbal / homeopathic stuff like arnica, calendula cream and rescue rememdy. Also milton wipes in case things are grubby, and a little plastic cup to take to the loo - things sting like HELL when you wee after giving birth but if you pour warm water over your foof when you widdle it doesn't sting so much.

Raspberry leaf tablets have just arrived in the post so am taking them, and starting my reflexology / pressure point massage today to try and get things going as I'm 37 weeks this weekend.

I thought stuff was happening last night as I had constant BH, sharp pains and backache but no such luck. Probably just as well as DH was out last night and in meetings all day today, and my parents are at the Cheltenham festival!! Quite a long way from north Essex, should they need to come and get DS! Hopefully little one will get his act together tomorrow and we can get it all over and done with this weekend. That'd be LOVELY!!

Boodstress · 19/03/2010 14:50

Am definitly NOT telling DH about Wisbit's regularity. At the moment he is being really understanding.

Lookiong into ways of getting the baby into head down position (its head is in my ribs and apparently there is a chinese method of burning something near your toe?? Anyone have a clue what I am talking about. I have decided to be really optimistic and assume everything is going to be fine and I will go into labour naturally and my body will know what to do

Good luck to all those feeling twinges..SO exciting

Snowtiger · 19/03/2010 14:56

Bood I think you mean moxibustion - don't think it's very easy to get hold of though, and you need to burn it near a particular acupuncture / accupressure point so you'd need a professional to help you do it I think.

Have a look at this link here which has lots of methods for turning a breech baby as well as using Moxibustion. Hope it works!!

Boodstress · 19/03/2010 16:04

Thanks a mil Snowtiger - I was going to find practitioner around here, I can't even see my toes let alone perform some ancient chinese art on them. DH used hopi ear candles on me once when my ears were blocked and we burnt the duvet .

Going to look at those options now, the cat pose (hands and feet with bum in the air) isn't easy with SPD I know from attempts last night.
