I'm watching One Born in a slightly different light tonight. Still fab though.

Agree funbun but emergency section so fast and frightening... cried throughout. Hormones are shot to bits.

Hello all, haven't posted for a while. Thanks to those who posted reassuring messages after I overdid it lifting ds1... have been fine since then so not worrying.

Was feeling quite chuffed at relatively mild ms but it hit me today... wasn't actually sick but felt nauseous most of the day and soooooo tired. Starting to dread getting the tube - northern line and pregnancy do not mix well!

fromheretomaternity · 16/03/2010 22:17

Ps how can you all bear to watch that programme?? I get the wobbles if I even flick onto it for a minute by mistake! Happy to stay in denial for now!

rollerbaby · 16/03/2010 22:18

ooh yes, also suffering northern line hell. am getting to work v late so it's not quite as bad that way.

MS has got better... I wonder if it's going to get worse again.

bunnygirl80 · 17/03/2010 01:45

fromheretomaternity I don't know why I watch OBEM - I try not to, but am still drawn to it with a weird fascination.

Hormones are definitely taking over as I cried multiple times throughout it.

loopy there was quite a lot of blood running down her legs afterwards...but then I have no idea how much gore is normal [burying head in sand for next 9 months emoticon]

I'm getting lots of cramping today - hopefully it's just the bean settling in and starting to grow. Starting to feel a bit sick at times as well, it seems to be alternating with wanting to eat anything I can get my hands on

rollerbaby · 17/03/2010 06:27

sounds about right. 2 breakfasts currently the norm. Yesterday salivated about thought of bacon sarnie all way to wok and then they ruined it with brown sauce! yuck.

feeling sick again this morning which is good.

Kyuri · 17/03/2010 07:06

Morning all.

Loved OBEM last night too. Although not sure if I will watch next week, looks like it is all about what can go wrong/prem-ies etc. Not sure if my anxiety levels could take it.

Off for scan this morning. Fingers crossed all is as it should be. Will report back.

Morning all

Good luck Kyuri for your scan today.

Loopy - I heard something completely different about how French measure pregnancy dates - more around they say pregnancy is 41 weeks long as that is the most usual length of a pregnancy (rather than over here everyone getting to 40 weeks and then being frustrated at going overdue). Who knows, but in a way I rather like either idea, a 38 week pregnancy is much better than 40 weeks, but 41 weeks would take that overdue madness away.

The morning queasiness kicked in this morning, thankfully it has died down at bit as it's my day with DDs today. Not sure I could handle two little monsters and my first day of ms together.

Kyuri · 17/03/2010 09:14

Just back from clinic and all went great. Saw foetus (i.e. blob inside a sac) complete with heartbeat Dates more or less confirmed, scan suggested 7+3 rather than +2 but close enough for me. Have now been discharged from fertility clinic and sent on merry way to see GP and get MW referral. Felt incredibly lucky to be attending the clinic for a pregnancy scan when I know most of the others there are still going through the horrible uncertainty of will we/won't we conceive. Today's reminder to count my blessings.

Am supposed to be working from home for the rest of the day so am going to strike while iron is hot and see my GP today too. Can't see me being able to focus on work very well...have urge to do some baking. Is that pseudo-nesting behaviour or just a ploy to munch on something yummy I wonder

Congrats to the newcomers, November is going to be a very busy month across the country!

lizardqueenie · 17/03/2010 09:25

Oh my god, first real burst of MS today, crikey! I was almost sick into the fridge (sorry if this is making you feel worse ladies but I have texted DH to tell him this morning and have yet to have a sympathy text back). Made worse by the fact there was a pack of mince in the fridge- just the thought of the uncooked meat- bleugh!

Kyuri ah bless glad your scan went well! I am 7+2 today and still waiting for news of my scan/ MW appointment

fromhere & honeymoo I am off of work at the moment but will be braving the northern line when I return! Once you are "out" about your pregnancy you can get one of these snazzy badges from London Underground www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/3665.aspx

I think i might go for wearing one once I get further on in pregnancy - even if it just stops people shoving you as much - a seat would be a fine thing!

Tillybea · 17/03/2010 10:04

Kyuri, that's fantastic news. A very precious bundle you've got there. Hope you get to see your GP today.

I've just telephoned for my appts. I do need to see the GP first, but can't get an appt until next Weds - a whole week to wait!!! And then I've got to wait to be referred to the mw. I'm hoping it won't take to long as I want a Nuchal scan due to my age. Might have to jolly things along a bit.

Another symptom has already raised it's head. My nose is on bloodhound mode. Anything perfumy is really strong and so are onions. But I've just spilled some shower exfolliant on my clothes and it smells of...bacon!!

PrivetDancer · 17/03/2010 10:06

pleased it went well Kyuri

I'm going to book myself a private scan for about 8 weeks (ie about 3 weeks time) I think. I can't wait til 12 weeks!

I have to brave the tube on mondays and thursdays too - my nose is in overdrive at the moment, I think I could smell every single person's aftershave on monday. Thankfully no MS for me yet (I didn't get any last time really so hoping for that again!)

funbun · 17/03/2010 10:13

Lovely news kyuri, amazing that your bean has a heartbeat.

Agree that OBEM looks a bit tearful next week. Had forgotten that tears = pregnant. Was watching Crufts on Sunday Eve and was crying thoroughout. DH thinks its hilarious but he had a tear at end too - soppy bugger!

Finding it hard not to spill beans. Nearly said something to childminder this morning as her daughter is trying for a VBAC in next couple of weeks and i said something like how i want to try too - then had to mumble something about 'if I ever get pregnant again'. Hate having to deny pregnancy but just want to keep it to me and DH for now.

Kyuri · 17/03/2010 10:21

Tillybea your post just made me laugh...and crave a bacon sandwich!

Haven't had any nasal symptoms at all, still just feeling nauseous most of the day and worse if stomach is empty but haven't yet been physically sick. "Morning" sickness so does not do it justice does it?! My DH is being remarkably sympathetic even though it must be getting old at this stage. It really does help to have a moan though

Pidgin · 17/03/2010 11:07

Wow, this thread is moving very quickly! Have been very busy at work the past few days so not able to keep up, but great to see so many people on here and interesting to hear news about scans, etc.

Is anyone else having hunger issues? I am hungry pretty much all the time. Managing two breakfasts plus an afternoon snack as well as normal meals ... I guess I'd rather be hungry than sick but I weighed myself the other day and realised have put on quite a bit of weight already... not a problem in itself but don't want to gain at this rate throughout the pregnancy! Plus I always thought I would have one of those active pregnancies but I am also knackered all the time and can't face the gym ... I'm asleep by 9.30 every night and could happily have an afternoon nap too...

Sorry, I guess it's obvious I just came on here for a moan! Feel better now, thank you!

IssyStark · 17/03/2010 12:00

Hi everyone!

Just joining the thread as I'm due on 21/11 which is exactly the same due date I had with my first (now 3) but he finally came along on 7th December

Hopefully this one will go the course, it's my eighth pregnancy and we've only got 1 kid. The rest were all missed miscarriages apart from one v. early m/c and a termination at 12w for anencelphaly (I'm now v. pro-scans as I don't know how we would have explained to our son that mummy wasn't coming home with a baby because the baby only had half a head and died at birth).

But I'm feeling really positive about this one. I'm under the care of the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic at the PAH (yes, the same place as One Born Every Minute), and have my first scan at 7w. I'm already on 5mg folic acid and low-dose aspirin and in a belt and braces approach, they'll put me on progesterone after the scan. Anyone else here on progesterone supplements? I've heard they make MS worse, any truth in that?

Other than that, so far few symptoms except tiredness, needing to pee all the time and my usual pregnancy symptom of looser bowels I await the appearance of MS in a couple of weeks with a mixture of dread and joy!

Hi everyone,

Sorry to rain on your parade but just got back from the EPU who have confirmed the fact that I have had a mc so I will remove myself from the list. Wishing you all successful pgs and hoping I'll be joining a Dec/Jan antenatal club.

IssyStark · 17/03/2010 15:42

playing I'm so sorry to hear your news.

I've been through it myself too many times. Here's hoping your next cycle with be the one! It can happen, the garklet was conceived the cycle after my second MC and he's a hail and heart 3yo.

Take care of yourself.
