neenz · 28/02/2010 15:16

Elusive, thanks, I have seen those before, I just wonder how easy it is to get the kids strapped in to the middle seats and how safe it is too. Also, I think you have to leave the infant carrier in the car, which is not so convenient really.

I might take another look though actually, cos the boot space we have in our Honda Accord estate is fab and we'd be getting a lot less boot space in an MPV. Thanks for the link, I am definitely going to have another look (you are so right about it being cheaper than a new car!!)

CazEM · 28/02/2010 16:19

We're having one of those gushy days today! Totally in love with baby and have been to mothercare and bought a few little bits; baby towels, the gloegg room themometer and a baby record book which I've just spent the last hour filling in the bits I can so far!

vix206 · 28/02/2010 18:18

We've got a Fiat 500, not the most convenient as its only a 3-door but I wouldn't give our little 500 up - love her too much I checked though and the Britax carseat we have been bought works so that will be fine.

CherryPie3 · 28/02/2010 20:13

All this talk of cars has quite overwhelmed me!!!

We have a Fiat Grande Punto - luckily 5 door but will it fit 2 booster seats and a baby seat? I don't know - dh has repeatedly (and adamantly) said no to a new car (he also drives a fiat grande punto). We'll manage tho I'm sure.

Sooooo tired...

Hope you're all well ladies

OP posts:
neenz · 28/02/2010 21:13

Cherry, are the booster seats the 4yrs+ ones? They might fit with a baby seat, but it might not! It is notoriously difficult to get three car seats across the back of any car .

You might need a multimac too! I have been looking into it and the infant carrier does appear to come out - you just pull a lever and it comes free. I have applied to have a fitting session, someone comes to your house to give you a free demo! Unfortunately our Honda is not on the fitting list so not sure it will fit, but fingers crossed, I would love it not to have to get a new car.

Caz, that's great! Sounds like you had fun.

Vix, I don't envy you with a 3dr car but you'll manage.

neenz · 28/02/2010 21:21

I've heard back from multimac (already) and they say it does fit my Honda . I am beyond excited . They are going to come to my house to give me a demo. I really hope it does the trick!

ElusiveMoose · 01/03/2010 08:11

Morning all. Sounds like great news on the multimac, Neenz. Will potentially save you lots of money.

Feeling slightly grumpy this morning as I've woken up with a cold - horrid sore throat and sore ears. Plus I've got a really busy week this week, including a curry night with the NCT girls tomorrow night, so I hope I'm feeling a bit better for that.

Just won a maternity swimsuit on ebay. Quite a bargain (10 quid for a JoJo one), but I hope it fits ok . Never bought clothes for myself on ebay before.

CherryPie3 · 01/03/2010 09:28

Morning Girls

Neenz yeah they are the 4+ ones - am keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe will be able to talk dh into replacing his car (mines a contract hire car) with a renault megane or something - he had one before and it was brilliant until someone rear-ended it and wrote it off!! . Gonna wait til we've got the baby seat/carrier and test it out in the car. Got a feeling there's gonne be scraped knuckles from trying to fasten seatbelts! Gonna have a look into the multimac - just a bit at the price. Not sure that it would be worth it really cos we're still gonna need a bigger boot space, could put £1000 towards a new car and solve both problems.

Elusive Great bargain Hope you feel better soon tho chick, having a cold is rotten!! xx

sayanything · 01/03/2010 09:48

Good morning everyone. Elusive, hope you feel better soon. Nothing much to report here - spent the weekend at home with an ill DH - except the glorious return of morning sickness. Oh yes girls, it's back, at 16+6! Bleurgh.

Alicetheinvisible · 01/03/2010 10:28

Morning

I used to have a metro when i was pg with DD, and sold it (can you believe someone bought it!) and got a mercedes A class which is lovely to drive and has a very upright boot so quite roomy. Very easy to get baby in and out too because the seats are high up (waist height on me)

Neenz very excited for you wrt the multimac. I saw them mentioned on MN before, but had never seen a pic before, they really are fab.

Still getting strong stretching pains, but have the obstetrician appointment tomorrow, so can get that checked out. Will also be able to talk through elective vs VBAC options

pamplem0usse · 01/03/2010 10:34

Oh no Elusive, sorry about the cold. It's a beautiful day in Londontown so maybe if the weather extends to where you are it will help cheer you up?
So I bought my ridiculously expensive cotbed (they had 50£ off, what was I to do?!) which I'm kind of excited about but also a bit freaked out I might have jinxed things. Silly I know!
Hope everyone has a good day, I'm in the windowless void that is the British Library for most of the day!

Sxx

p.s. loving the supportiveness of this thread, especially after the acid-tongued tirades the site seems to have been subjected to in the press recently!

growingbump2 · 01/03/2010 10:46

Morning all!
Its a beautiful sunny day today, just very cold! DS has been up with nosebleeds for 3 nights am knackered now, never mind only 4 days till DH back for weekend. DS has suddenly developed a fear of the bath even though he has always been a water baby and we have not had any water dramas, am going to try and prise him in today with some sort of child bribery. Cherryie and elusive loving the bargains - am definatly not very organised for this bump I know it sounds strange but it just doesn't seem real this time, mabye just because I've been so busy not sure!

CherryPie3 · 01/03/2010 11:18

oooh Pample Did you go for the Orchard one then? Twas very loverly
Dh likes the Alpine Demerara one that I picked but he prefers the Savannah cotbed - so we'll prob go for that one I think cos it's only £125 at the moment. I loves me a good bargain!

Alice A metro I remember my dad used to have one years and years ago and we used to fit 2 adults and 5 kids in there (before the legal requirement of carseats of course )

Sayanything Hope the sickness aint too bad!! It does get better - honest!!

Lovely and sunny here in West Yorkshire too I wanna go play outside

OP posts:
pamplem0usse · 01/03/2010 11:28

Cherry I did indeed go for the Orchard one. Naughty, oh well I've done some good research on where I can get cheap basics so I keep trying to convince myself it's OK!!!!

CherryPie3 · 01/03/2010 11:33

Of course it's ok You love it, and we all know how difficult it is to please a pregnant woman (as poor dh knows....)

OP posts:
pamplem0usse · 01/03/2010 11:49

Oh my word, on another note, is anyone else getting really irritated by virusy people???!! I know it's not their fault but on my commute and now at 'work' I seem to constantly end up near people coughing and spluttering.... urg. Seem to be much more annoyed than usual about this though!!!

Chulita · 01/03/2010 11:55

Hello everyone! DD and I went to a singsong group this morning and she spent the whole time running around in the middle of the circle so hopefully that's her flat out now til about 2. There's a bit of flooding down here just because there's a high tide cos of the moon and we're at the end of the rivers so all the rain has reached here and even little streams are huge! Lovely to see all the swans paddling about though

Has anyone else got horrendously dry and itchy skin? Mine's is seriously pissing me off and no matter what I moisturise with, so far nothing's worked. Any suggestions?

CherryPie3 · 01/03/2010 12:34

Hi Chulita I have the dry skin you speak of, but it's not itchy. It's on my face under my eyes so I've been using Johnsons Baby Lotion to ease it - not working tho

Pample YUK to the germy people who dare to come within 10 feet of you!! I'm the same, I drive to work but when I get here there are coughy spluttery people everywhere!!

OP posts:
Aussieng · 01/03/2010 12:40

Hi Chulita - I had a really itchy tummy, breasts and upper legs for quite a few weeks and nothing worked (in fact most made it worse). I left well alone for a few days (no bath oil or shower gel or anything) and since then I have been using Neal's yard's Mothers balm on those areas (I was given a mother to be orgainic gift set and it is lovely). It can apparently also be used to prepare nipples for bf.

Hope everyone is well. Trying to decide whether I can face 5 full days at work this week or whether to take another day as holiday.

20 weeks tomorrow. Half way there. Yikes!!!

Alicetheinvisible · 01/03/2010 12:40

I have got terrible dry skin on my face, and i am putting Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter on it at night (it is as thick as vaseline) and simple moisteriser during the day which is stopping it getting out of hand, but not cured it.

Chulita · 01/03/2010 12:55

Maybe I'll have a root around and find something organic and overpriced lovely to wipe all over myself. I'd pay £20 a pot if it stopped the itching!

girlsyearapart · 01/03/2010 13:15

another itchy one here- it's driving me crazy..

neenz the voyager we looked at was a manual- can't get my head around an automatic even though everyone keeps saying that they're easier.

We also went to a singing group this morning and then to the swings hurray for the good weather at long last

Have my 2yo niece here today too and luckily I have got all three to go to bed to have a nap.

Hoping that someone will be in tonight so I can go to aerobics...

babyducky · 01/03/2010 13:51

hi everyone,

Ive had dry skin too, I've been using body shop cocoa butter body butter, its lovely.

Great bargains cherry

weehector · 01/03/2010 13:55

itchy ladies Can recommend Aveeno or Doublebase (which you ask the pharmacist for - comes in a huge container for about £6). I too have rapidly drying out skin and this is what I used when I took Roaccutane, the acne wonder drug that dries out your skin, a few years ago.

Curiously, I have the same slightly pumped up and glowing skin that I had when I was on Roaccutane as well..I'm so happy there is at least one tick in the +ve aspects of pregancy column although it goes nowhere to compensating for what this pregnancy has done to my previously 32J boobs.

Amazingly gorgeous day in Hectorland - the sun is glinting off the river and there's a perfect blanket of snow over Arran. Time for a walk to get rid of yesterday's afternoon tea cake fest.

ElusiveMoose · 01/03/2010 14:05

Hello again. Well, the weather has definitely cheered me up in spite of my cold. It's absolutely beautiful here. Need to spend most of the day inside/at the shops unfortunately, but will try to get some gardening done tomorrow. And at least I've been able to fling all the windows open - hurrah!

girlsyearapart, have you tried test-driving an automatic? Reason I ask is that I was always really dismissive of them (I love driving and hated the thought of not being in 'control' of the car), but when we hired a car in Canada the only option was an automatic, and I have to admit it was fab. I still drive a manual, but I certainly wouldn't be too upset at the thought of having an automatic. Might be worth a try if that's the only thing stopping you getting a particular car??
