HELLO!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scully · 27/07/2005 09:09

I did yoga last time, found it a nice way to relax for an hour and have some 'me' time. Didn't get much else from it though, but I had a caesarian so wasn't much use for me for the birth!
Still didn't remember to do the tp thing last night, too tired and harrassed by dd and dh most evenings I think!

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 09:26

Morning all

DQ, It's funny how you picture people isn't it!!! I'm definalty not tiny, infact I'm starting to resemble a canal bardge!!!! I've also got a bit of a waddle going on Dh thinks I look like a Weeble!!!!

We probably have all ended up with the same bits from Next - we'll just have to ensure we are never all in the same place wearing the same thing

Minnie - I agree with your dh that you need a new car. We had a 2 door when dd was a baby and it nearly killed my back lugging her in and out. 4 doors is a definate must when you have a baby.
If you want a small car could you look at Fiesta's or my personal fav a Focus. We also looked a Peaugeots when we brought our new car - they came a close 2nd. You don't have to get a big car for it to be 4 doors!!!!

Well, not much planned here for the day, apart from sitting on my arse for 8 hours solid!!! Oh, except I am gonna pop to the gym for 1/2 hour later!!!!

scully · 27/07/2005 09:37

4 dr car a must Minnie, we bought a toyota corolla when I was 7mths pregnant last time still have it now, it's been great. found it had the largest boot of any of the hatchbacks. might not bother everyone but I wanted a boot big enough so the pram wasn't always buried under shopping etc and things didn't always need to be stacked. something to think about depending on which pram you buy. will be sad to sell it but I think we will need to buy something a bit bigger, with 2 children, still thinking about it though as no spare cash right now

scully · 27/07/2005 11:23

It's not just you who can kill threads SH

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 11:31

I'm so pleased - you must smell too scully!!!!!

scully · 27/07/2005 11:51

Grin Grin Grin

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 11:56

I was trying to find something earlier - I though it might be interresting if we could get a map of the UK and flag the area where each of us lives. That way we could see who we're near to and stuff.

Do you know the sort of thing I mean, like the police have when there doing an investigation!!!!!

I couldn't manage to find anything - anyone got any ideas??? Or is it just one of my crap "I'm really bored" type things!!!!!!

goldenoldie · 27/07/2005 12:00

9 squares for me.

No pregnancy yoga, but did do it before I got pregnant and enjoyed it. But only did it cause it was close to work and I could do it in my lunch hour.

Just changed car too - have gone from a medium big Volvo to a big Volvo - V70. Will need all that extra boot space to get a double buggy in.

scully · 27/07/2005 12:23

Does sound like you're bored SH! But would be interesting to see where everyone is from. I've been bored enough to actually do some filing this morning. Thinking of going to Next at lunchtime to see if I like any of their sale stuff. Went to H&M and Mothercare yesterday but didn't see anything special. Shall have to continue to shop on Ebay I think!

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 12:37

scully - whic Next are you going to?? Your near me aren't you!?!?!?

Guildford has a good range of stuff if your in that area.

starrynight · 27/07/2005 12:41

Hi there all. I am also having to do the 'new car' thing as 6 people don't go into a 5 seater! Looking at a galaxy at the mo. Problem is we are stony broke so it'll have to go on a credit card (which we just extended mortgage to clear )

Isn't it funny how you get used to the bump - I keep looking down convinced I don't look pg at all!

I have to take back a black top to Next - it is ridiculous but would look lovely if you don't have to wear a bra (is that poss at a size 14 and being pg???). Who designs these things?

i don't know how you lot are coping at work - I have to have a nap in the day or I feel like i'm dying. And i'm sleeping for about 10 hrs a night - its incredible how much you need to sleep isn't it.

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 12:49

starry, can you find somewhere that's doing 0% finance. I always buy car on 0% - I really hate paying interest on anything!!!!

Just trying to muster the enthusiasum to go to the gym - someone tell me to shift my fat backside!!! It's only half and hour for goodness sake!!!!

scully · 27/07/2005 12:52

Would love to be going to the Guildford store, but I work in the city, so if I can be bothered I'll go to the Bond St street, as I think that's the closest one that sells maternity.
God, no bra, absolutely not! I have a couple of those stretchy tops with the built in bra and even under those I feel like I need to wear one!

starrynight · 27/07/2005 12:54

SH its a 0% cc - we are cc tarts!

scully · 27/07/2005 12:59

dumb question, but can you put a car purcase on a cc? we couldn't, when we bought ours 3 yrs ago, money had to come from a debit, not credit, account......
that's not a bad idea, if we can........my dh wants a jeep (cherokee shape, not wrangler) but as it's me who will be driving it most of the time, I'm not so sure....

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 13:04

ahh good thinking starry

scully - as far as I remember you can put it on cc but they card company normally charges a fee - I think it's about 2.5%

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 15:16

I'm bored!!!!!!!

scully · 27/07/2005 15:23

Well got to Bond St. Nothing in Dorothy Perkins, but found 3 shirts in Next - will try them on tonight to see if I like them. 2 were half price, 1 was cheaper than that, so good prices at least. Somehow also found myself in the Disney Store
Bought dd 2 presents I'm going to put away for Xmas, prices were too good to leave them in the store!

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 15:28

scully - a woman after my own heart. I had to resist temptation to buy some baby boy things in the sale the other day.

I think I'll pop in there on the last couple of days and see if there are any bits left over that have been marked down to stupidly low prices

I really should start thinking about Xmas gifts.

starrynight · 27/07/2005 15:31

SH do you already know its a boy? I can't wait to find out!

We bought a people carrier last year and they didn't accept CC - a shame because we may have had some protection. We were ripped off, the garage moved just after we bought it and we sold it for £900 to a mechanic - 3.5K gone down the drain. I'm really nervous now about buying a car....

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 15:38

Had my scan last week and were told it's an 85% chance it's a boy.

Will hopefully have it confirmed in October when I go back for my next scan.

Horrible news about your car - we brought our's direct from Ford and they take cc's. I guess with smaller garages it's at their discression.

scully · 27/07/2005 15:39

Starry, that's awful, sometimes it's worth buying from a bigger place although you can be charged more, for the protection you generally get. SH, I forgot to mention that I want to go back to Next tomorrow, didn't have nearly enough time to hunt through their children's clothes! I have 10 presents to send back to Australia, as well as ones for dh, dd and 3 children of friends, so I seem to always be looking for things that postable!

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 15:45

I'd agree about going to somwhere larger and more reputable when buying a car. We brought so many crap cars in the past that although they seem more expensive it's just false economy to buy a crap car. You end up spending way more in the long run.

scully - look at you, you shopping queen!!! I'd stick with vouchers or something boring if you've got to post stuff - but then you are obviously much nicer than me

We have so many people to buy for at Xmas, it usually costs us about £1000!!!!! I'm trying to cut it by at least half this year.

scully · 27/07/2005 15:54

Not by choice SH, I don't really even like shopping! January and July are the 2 times a year when I have a good look around the shops, just hate paying full price
yep, vouchers are great, although it's getting more difficult to think of different stores to buy from. Mainly buy things to post for my younger nieces and nephews (I have 6 in total) as it's nice for them to have something to open. The older ones get vouchers now......

sweetheart · 27/07/2005 16:04

yes, I think it's nice for younger ones to have something special to open - trouble is trying to find something.

I love watching kidies open stuff at christmas - trouble is they all seem to get so much now. I don't even know what we're going to buy dd this year - the wow factor seems to have gone out of everything.

I really do think I am addicted to shopping - dh and I have been trying to budget ourselves recently and I've actually noticed withdrawal symptoms from shopping. It's part of the reason I've gone back to the gym - to stop myself browsing round the shops at lunch time.
