HELLO!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scully · 04/08/2005 11:37

forgot to say sh, haven't seen a book like that for your dd, but my dd might also be interested in one, she's fascinated with how my tummy is growing and has learnt far too much from discovery health already!

sweetheart · 04/08/2005 16:06

WOW it's been quiet here today!!!

scully, I've just ordered a couple of books for dd.
Where do babies come from by Usborne and
Made with love by Kate Petty

I've also bid on a book on Ebay called The Body Book which is supposed to have a section on babies.

I'll have to let you know if they are any good. It's so hard to find something that lays out the facts and shows pictures rather than annoying stories of "mummy had a fat tummy, I went to say with nanny and mummy brought a baby home the next day" arrgghh My dd is totally patronised by these sort of things!!!!

Anyway, rant over!!!!

Whilst I was browsing I found a book called Where Willy Went - a story of a sperm!!! Didn't know they did books like that for kids!!!!!

ei23mummy · 04/08/2005 16:28

howdy!! hows the many bumps? mine seems smaller than what i expected at this stage! still cant fasten any of my pants tho!! it looks like its baggy tracky pants 4 me!! hehe
iv been watchin disc. health recently- is it normal 2 be freaked out by these progs? reminds me a bit of alien!!
as for the thing bout men... mine seems more interested in how many nights out he can have when the babs comes!!! p*head!!

starrynight · 04/08/2005 16:28

My dh is really excited, but impatient that he can't feel the baby kicking yet (he keeps rushing over when baby is kicking and he/she promptly stops! lol). He is also very keen to know about each mw appt & came to look round birth centre and ask them questions. He wants to go to antenatal classes but I can't bring myself to burden us on another teacher 1st time he didn't get into it as much but was a changed man after the birth (thank god or I might have brained him!)

Sh - I have a brill book called 'being born' by Sheila Kitzinger. It is photographs of babies at different stages in the womb - there are also photographs of a birth at the end. Its not so much words as pictures - though the words are very nice too. Its basically a story to be read to a child that is the story of them in your womb and 'being born'. lovely. Though it seems to be about £10 on amazon . Maybe ebay is a good bet.

starrynight · 04/08/2005 16:30

ei - don't watch discovery health!! Its quite american isn't it? All men scrubbed up, women with legs in stirrups and epidurals all round? Doesn't have to be like that! (in fact very rarely would you birth with legs in stirrups in this country and partner would only ever be scrubbed up for a caesarean birth!)

bonkerz · 04/08/2005 17:29

PHEW, Am glad to hear its not just my DH then!!
Am off out tonight for cinema and meal with DH! Maybe we can talk without arguing!

Same old story here! TIRED TIRED TIRED, so much so we are going to see a horror movie at 6.45 cos i wont be able to stay awake for the 9.45 showing!! How sad am i!

MINNIE1 · 05/08/2005 09:19

bonkerz,
Hope you got to see the end of the movie. I have the same problem with sleeping through movies, If we rent them i would have to watch the end the next day! Hope you had a nice meal.

How are you all today??

george32 · 05/08/2005 09:20

Morning everyone, welcome to ei23mummy. My first too so everything is a mystery to me!!

I think I might have felt the baby last night. I'm a bit confused as I didn't sleep well so I may well have been having wierd half asleep hallucinations (how nuts do I sound!! )

DQ, how did your scan go? I've had a bit of a catch up but didn't notice you posting. Hope all went OK & you are just busy.

Ei, I keep away from all baby / birthing programmes, they scare me awfully. I think I'm better off going into it blindly!

Anyone got any sunshine today?

Twiga · 05/08/2005 09:42

Hi everyone, hope you're all keeping well , just crashing in to say hi to Minnie1, got your message on the Aug thread and have replied to you there. Glad to hear all is well and how exciting to be at the bump stage! hve you done much mat clothes shopping yet?

scully · 05/08/2005 10:22

Was beginning to think I was smelly yesterday, like SH was last week! let me know what you think of those books SH, I had a look in Books Etc a while ago but didn't see anything I liked.
Not all on Discovery Health is American, there's an english doula show that has started recently, 'mum+one', that seems ok to watch and not at all clinical. I can't help myself though, the remote just seems to change over to these channels all by itself! Except of course when there's cricket, rugby or golf on.....

MINNIE1 · 05/08/2005 10:31

Things are quiet today!
Does anyone think its time for a new thread??

sweetheart · 05/08/2005 11:30

I do, I do - was just waiting for someone else to suggest it first coz it always seems to be me moaning about new thread

Scully - you don't smell sweetie - promise!!! I'll let you know how the books turn out. Hopefully they won't be dissapointing.

I'm working on a new business venture which is taking up most of my MN time which is why I've been absent the last couple of days - something we were chatting about got me thinking!!! I've had sleepless night I've got so many bloomin ideas wizzing round my head!!!!

Anyway, hope everyone is well - how are scans, appt etc coming??????

scully · 05/08/2005 12:25

Scan and hopefully a reflexologist appt (if she gets a cancellation) on Monday - looking forward to both!
Very interesting discussion in 'Childbirth' at the moment, about the pros and cons of vbac and caesarian, if need to make a decision about which way to go. Has helped me put together a long list of questions when I see the consultant on 31/8

ei23mummy · 05/08/2005 12:30

g'day everyone!! how are we all today??
looks like loads are havin trouble sleepin- jus like me!!! phew!! i thought i was goin a bit doolally!!

bonkerz · 05/08/2005 13:26

Had a great night out with Dh, we chatted and flirted and it was realy nice! I met Dh at cinema and he commented that i really look pregnant now and that i am starting to waddle!! Had a lovely meal at pizza hut but didnt finish it all which is annoying! Film was good tho, had a twist at the end which was great and Fred kicked quite alot which i loved!
Dh even massaged some cream into my belly last night which is the most hes touched my bump ever!!
Still 19 days to my scan and counting but i think a new thread is in order really!!

MINNIE1 · 05/08/2005 13:41
