Good Luck today with your scan MrsZac.
Lovely pictures Star
Sending you some lemon drizzle cake trough cyberspace to cheer up chulita

Must be honest hot cross buns are not my fav, but toasted teacakes all way hit the spot.Had home made pineapple upside down pudding with custard last night still drooling now.Been extra good today and had 1 banana and a big bowl of melon chunks and grapes.
Brought some plain white badygrows and vests this morning from asda, don,t thing you can go to wrong by having lots of baby grows for the first few weeks as it,s not all ways that easy to keep up with the washing.Very tempted to buy a few more thing from there as well they have a baby event at the moment seen a sterilizer at a very good price.

growingbump2 · 27/01/2010 12:39

Hi everyone, I would like to jump on board with the rest of you, have been reading the threads since getting BFP but too scared to post until today. Just had home visit from midwife and got all the books and stuff so it is starting to feel real now!

Kaylo - I must admit to reading your posts the most often, we were on the same May thread and I mc just after you so very pleased to see both of us getting close to the second trimester!

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 12:53

Cakey at you getting the handbag to match

Alice totally with you that maternity are waaaaaay overpriced. I find george @ Asda to be fairly reasonable. I have splurged on jeans from Next tho

Chulita You most definitely have my sympathy with a teething little one - how are you both doing? The Loola is a lovely looking baby transportation mobile - I reckon you should secretly 'lose' the old. Sell it on eBay

Aussie Are we really on the most active thread list? Where can I see [nosey emoticon]

Growingbump Welcome!!! Theres a lot to be said for the fertility boost following m/c isn't there? Do you remember Spirael? She's due 25th July - she m/c just before me.

BigMuther The Asda baby event is brill!!! I bought a Closer to Nature steriliser from there for £10!!! I snapped it up, baby bath was £5, and CTN bottles x6 £10!!!! I bought the cheapy baby popper vests cos I think they were like £1.50 for 3? Too much of a bargain to justify getting more expensive ones.

Star Do you like this one You can add carrycots so it's a pram and the seats can be rear of forward facing.

OP posts:
mrsZaC · 27/01/2010 13:06

Lovin the pram chat... I think I'm gunna go for the maxicosi cabriofix as was mentioned is a which best buy and has excellent safety write-up. I belive you can buy adapters so it fits onto most travel systems (hopefully mamas and papas!)

Thanks bigmuther trying not to think about it too much... although clock-watching something cronic.

We just had a valuation done one our flat @ £135,000!! absoulte rubbish since we bought it only 3 years ago brand new for £155,000 and that was without all the money on flooring! grrrrr hopefully they are wrong, or no house for us

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 13:16

MrsZaC at the valuation!! We've got ours on Friday and not looking forward to it one bit!!!

What time is your scan honey?

ElusiveMoose · 27/01/2010 13:31

Baby will be using DS's old pushchair, which is a Mothercare Trenton Deluxe here. I and he absolutely love it (he still uses it for long walks sometimes, because it's quite comfy and good on rough-ish terrain, though he can barely squeeze into it now). It has a lovely soft carrycot included, which we used to put him down for naps when we were at other people's houses, and a car seat that clicks onto the pushchair and into an Isofix base unit in the car (I think you have to buy the base unit separately). And very easy to fold with one hand. Only downside is that it's quite bulky (in shops, car boots etc) and quite heavy to carry - not good if you need to take it up and down lots of steps. But because it's not very 'trendy' it's very good value - under £300 for everything apart from the Isofix.

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 13:41

Moose I had a very similar one for dd and ds, but it was Graco? Looks identical though - well the Graco was was navy blue. I found it brilliant as well, just wanted a new one the individual handles this time around.

mrsZaC · 27/01/2010 13:42

I know kaylo we're gutted, getting home report done tomorrow, if the valuation is correct there is no way we can sell just now damit, saw a house we really like aswell.

scan 5pm [nervous face]

Missus84 · 27/01/2010 13:47

I have no idea about a pram - think we might just use a sling for the first few months and then get a pushchair. We have a tiny flat up two sets of narrow stairs, so ideally need something small and lightweight that folds easily! I'd also prefer something that's rear-facing though.

Any of you more experienced pram users have any suggestions?

ElusiveMoose · 27/01/2010 13:57

Missus84, I don't know much about different prams (though you can get plenty that are both rear and front facing, which is nice when the baby's a bit older and wants to see where it's going), but slings are brilliant. I used our BabyBjorn for months with DS, and I swear it was lugging him up hill and down dale in the sling that lost me most of my baby weight. Plus it was pretty much the only thing that stopped him screaming .

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 14:00

MrsZaC I'm so for you. It's worse when you've seen a lovely house as well. I can totally sympathise cos a week ago I saw a 3bed house thats bigger than our 3bed terraced house - dh said no way!! I can see his point tho, we'd prob never sell ours in time to snap that one up but was still gutted. And at dh for not wanting to try.

I finish work at 5 so won't be able to immediately come one and check but will try and patch my buggered old laptop up - I wanna know how you get on. Got confidence in your little bean tho

OP posts:
neenz · 27/01/2010 14:14

There's quite a few more twin prams around now than when I was looking, not much choice then. I love my mountain buggy but they don't face you when they are in the pushchair bit. I don't mind that so much though. It is very durable, it really has been ragged around and is as good today as when I first bought it.

If I was buying a single pram, I'd make sure it had a big basket - invaluable for putting all your crap!

I know, isn't the housing market poo I totally blame DH aswell for being so sensible sensible doesn't come into it when you fall in love with a house.

I'll try to post on my iphone as soon as I know anything, cuz of course it WILL be good news

neenz · 27/01/2010 14:22

Missus, there are quite a few lightweight umbrella-fold prams you can use from birth. Like this one.

Missus84 · 27/01/2010 14:29

Thanks neenz, I'm just not very keen on them facing away from you when they're so little!

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 14:41

Yep, housing market totally pants at the moment - and apparently we're out of the recession Where exactly?
With regards to falling in love with a house, I strongly stand by my decision that decisions made on a whim are often the best ones ever made. Have 'whimsically' decided that part exchange is the way forward for us No chain, no hassle! And a shiny new house. The house I have now is like the house that Jack built nothing's finished.

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 14:43

Missus I think the m&p switch is meant to be pretty good. As far as I know its rear and forward facing and theres a pram position too

OP posts:
Missus84 · 27/01/2010 14:52

Thanks Kaylo I'll look into it.

My mum is desperate to take me pram shopping already

KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 15:00

Bless her, she's just giddy and excited!

OP posts:
KayloHalo · 27/01/2010 15:06

Missus It's not the switch I was thinking of, it was this the skoot.

Sorry!

OP posts:
neenz · 27/01/2010 15:46

Missus, I know what you mean about them facing away from you, but I think all the umbrella folds are like that. The skoot will not fold down really small, it folds flat but would be bulky for carrying. I would definitely go for umbrella fold if getting up stairs is an issue. It's not so bad when they face away from you but it's a shame you have to make the choice. Also if storage inside the flat is an issue, an umbrella fold would be better.

Sling for the first few months sounds like a good idea!

bouncingblueberries · 27/01/2010 15:56

We had a Quinny Buzz for ds and although it was great for big long walks, it is soooooo heavy for getting in and out of the boot of the car. And punctures were a right pain in the butt. Felt lovely and sturdy though and felt like ds was nicely protected and cushioned in it.

This baby will be a sling baby for as much as possible (used sling with ds until he was almost 3) then I'll buy a new maclaren. ds hated the buggy though and was so much happier in the sling.
