I mean lasagne's slow and laborious but the sauces are quick. It just adds up to a long time, you're right. I usually have a bit of tomato sauce in the freezer so that makes it slightly quicker and I seem to whip up cheese sauce every other day for DD at the mo so I've got that down to a fine art

Alicetheinvisible · 04/02/2010 18:19

Before i fell pg this time i was getting quite good at bulk cooking, but with the ms and exhaustion i have hardly done any cooking since

We had a proper meal for lunch, so i am going to do DD some toast, yoghurt and banana for dinner, and DH and i will have chicken breasts topped with leeks and wensleydale (waitrose ready to cook) new potatoes and cabbage or broccoli.

I may need a bag of crisps to keep me going til then though as he won't be home til 7.30/8ish

PlantHasABabyBean · 04/02/2010 19:09

Hey everyone

Just popping on quickly to let you know the scan went well. We have a very wriggly healthy little bean

Will try to catch up later on the thread, off to cook dinner.

girlsyearapart · 04/02/2010 21:09

My dinner was really boring so I'm having some chips now to make up for it.,.

starshaker · 04/02/2010 21:54

I really wanna eat but nothing takes my fancy. Tried fruit, crisps and chocolate but nothing id hitting the spot

KayloHalo · 05/02/2010 08:05

Well after careful thoughts yesterday about what to have for tea, got home and dh was there with a plate of mashed potato, lincolnshire sausage, gravy and yorkshire pudding.

Not spaghetti but soooooo yummy!! And not a slice of cheese in sight

Good news about your scan Plant and good luck for yours today Alice

THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY!!!!

kaylo - how lovely is your DH? Mine only has to cook on Saturdays and we both often forget so I end up doing it again...I'd love him to surprise me with a meal
And it's Friday at last! For the last 3 nights I've dreamt it was the weekend and I missed it and finally it's almost here, hooray! [monkey on a bicycle emoticon]

KayloHalo · 05/02/2010 08:18

ugh I hate the weekend.

DH works late thurs fri and sat with bits in the day too. He is going to be working all day saturday too this weekend.

All my friends are spending time with their own Dh's/getting their DH to have the kids. Even the swings are full of dads.

No playgroups or anything to take the dds to. Much prefer the week!

bigmuther65 · 05/02/2010 09:19

Have to go to the EPU today at 12.00 midwife could not find heartbeat on the Doppler yesterday really feel this is the end have bad cramps bleeding, and my symptoms especially the sickness have all but disappeared.Feel so shocked can,t stop crying as when i went on Monday everything was fine it has happened so quick. Will try and let you all know how i go on later, and hoppfully it will be good news.

Dibbydab · 05/02/2010 09:19

Great to hear about the scan Plant.

Ended up with a small plate of chips with lots of salt and vinegar last night. My range of foods that I feel like eating is so limited at the moment, though I have put on about 4lb now. Toasted hot cross buns with proper butter are really doing it for me at the moment!

Ordered a pair of maternity jeans off eBay yesterday - not the over the bump ones, the ones with the elastic in the side - tried squeezing into my size 10 boyfriend fit jeans last night - twas not a pretty sight,so I'm giving in to the inevitable!

Good luck with your scan this afternoon Alice, please try and post a piccy - would love to see other 12 week pics.

Hope everthing goes ok for you bigmother I will be thinking of you.

Kaylo that dinner sounds delish..one of my favourite meals! Also craving the chips as well now, especially with melted cheese.

I am getting very hungry now, had a massive plate of salad for dinner last night, had colslaw, beetroot, boiled egg, salad bits and chicken the lot, it was soo good I might have it again tonight

LCRLCR · 05/02/2010 12:20

Oh bigmuther please let us know your news, I am so nervous for you and really am sending you positive vibes. Having seen my little cartwheeling plum yesterday, I am terrfied to think it could still be taken away from us. Lots of love xxx

liahgen66 · 05/02/2010 13:10

bigmuther I am saying a little prayer for you. Hope you don't mind. xx

LCRLCR · 05/02/2010 14:10

Maternity pay - I've just had a bit of a reality check from our HR Dept. Is this generous / the norm? I don't wish to sound greedy but I was dreaming of a full year at home with baby but doesn't really look possible now.....

1 - 18 weeks full basic pay (inclusive of 18 weeks SMP)
19 - 39 weeks SMP at approx £123 per week
40 - 52 no pay

ElusiveMoose · 05/02/2010 14:24

LCR that's not too bad. Statutory minimum is 6 weeks at 90% of pay, then 33 weeks at SMP, then nothing for the rest. So you're basically being given an extra 3 months at full play on top of the minimum. But whether or not that's enough for you to stay at home is obviously down to your particular circumstances.

Bigmuther fingers crossed for you today. xx

ElusiveMoose · 05/02/2010 14:29

I mean full pay . Though full play sounds fun, doesn't it?

KayloHalo · 05/02/2010 14:33

LCR You get more than I do. I get 6 weeks at 90% my normal rate

then wks 6-39 at normal SMP. 39+ no pay.

I'm furious!!! We get such a poor maternity package, one of the worst ever!!!! It's just so basic.

I'd say your's is quite generous.

OP posts:
LCRLCR · 05/02/2010 14:43

I'm clearly naive wow how are Mums expected to manage on £123 a week plus pay mortgages / bills as well as feed and clothe Mum and baby? I'm having a great big wake up call here!

ElusiveMoose · 05/02/2010 14:46

Don't want to turn this into a political debate, but remember that before Labour came to power, women only got about 21 weeks of leave in total, and SMP was about £50 week. And fathers got nothing at all. Please bear in mind when casting your votes this summer .
