doodley that is shocking! Surely if you live in domestic premises you shouldn't be paying business rates? That's just plain wrong. We always shop around and check out moneysavingexpert.com and moneysupermarket.com to get the best deal. In fact, if you go through moneysavingexpert.com they have a link that gets you cashback for switching energy companies.

Check out this link.

Yay had the scan and all is well - I really was worried they'd see nowt but a big doughnut in there but there it was, clear as day cartwheeling and wriggling with a lovely strong heartbeat. That was the most magical experience of my life, amazing. A bit further along than I thought at 12 + 5

Good luck bigmuther xx

xx

neenz · 04/02/2010 15:27

Fab news LCR! I had my scan yesterday and I was 12+5 too It is my second pregnancy and it still felt very magical.

Doodley, that is outrageous, there is no way they should need a deposit - and business rates? You should report them to OFGEN - call consumer direct on 08454 04 05 06. Bailiffs indeed! You don't owe them anything! That is ridiculous that they can send a bailiff round

mrsZaC · 04/02/2010 15:29

shocking doodley you should report them to ofgem!

LCRLCR congrats on your scan can't wait till my scan... only 2.5 wks to go now.

Had the hugest bigest salad for lunch, a whole cucumber, red onion and feta with mint TASTY! not quite a melted cheese delight but it was still gooooood

Doodleydoo · 04/02/2010 15:39

Hi Guys, thanks so much for that, what I have done is call Scottish Power back (yes them!) and told them it is ridiculous and that they also took our meter reading wrong as I don't believe it can go backwards! Anyway they have said that they will now stop the bailiffs, that they will charge us the domestic rate for the period we have been living in the property but that I have to prove that we are paying council tax as a domestic property. Spoke to the council and our council sends seperate bills for council tax and then business rates so still off the wall if you ask me BUT think its sorted if we send it to them. I think I am now well within my right to not open the door to the bailiff again. All unbelievable and for a couple who are MEGA cautious with money was a little bit of a shock! I think a lot of companies are trying their luck though at the mo as my mum had a bailiff on the door for non payment of a porn film (she is nearly 70 ffs!). Interesting really as they were on holiday at the time......... so I think I rest my case but I do feel better now!

Have done a bit of searching around and hopefully will have come up with a better deal on the leccy, sadly we can't get the best deals as we don't have mains gas so can't do a combined one - this also knocks british gas out! But we have found another company and although we are "tied" in it is a £10 get out charge if we find a better deal elsewhere - although as everything was based on the business rates...........oh well sod it!

Am thinking of food now, my ms has diminished to the point of only when I am really hungry....thank the lord! Off to forage for something scrummy to eat now, am jealous of your lunches!

neenz · 04/02/2010 15:42

So do you live on business premises then Doodley? Why are they all quoting you business rates - that's so weird!

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 16:11

LCRLCR and Neenz Huge congrats on the scans - so reassuring, and like you've both said - such a lovely magic experience.

Doodley What a palava!! So glad you got it sorted, not exactly what you need when you're growing a baby!!

I'm really ready for my tea now, deciding what to have. The choices I have are:-
*Jacket potatoe with chilli and cheese
*Spaghetti bolognese
*Homemade lasagne

Which one?

Eitherway I'll be cooking it but I know I have the ingredients in for any of those meals

Personally I'd go for lasagne, but admittedly more of a hassle to make. I LOVE lasagne. Made a veggie one at the weekend for the ILs - mushroom and pesto lasagne with oodles of bechamel and cheese - yum yum yum, I could have scoffed the whole thing myself.

DH is out tonight, which means PIZZA!!!! Only a frozen jobby, not the full blown takeaway, but still a pizza... Pizza Express Sloppy Giuseppe with coleslaw on the side (naughty, naughty).

Alicetheinvisible · 04/02/2010 17:23

Evening

I have a bit of a thing for flaky pastry at the moment. Greggs do a sausage, bean and cheese bake that is soooooooo good

I love lasagne but it is quite labour intensive to make.

Have got my Nuchal scan tomorrow afternoon

ElusiveMoose · 04/02/2010 17:50

Curse you, Alice, you've just given me a craving for a Greggs sausage roll. I don't think I've had one for about four years - I used to have them as a naughty snack sometimes when I was coming back late at night from work. It was that combination of the fat that soaks through the bag in about 2 seconds, and the shiny pink 'meat' that's clearly never been anywhere near a pig. Heaven.

Good luck for tomorrow .

Chulita · 04/02/2010 17:55

I love lasagne but DH doesn't...grr! My dad even said in front of my mum that mine tasted better than hers Heheheh, bet he had some making up to do after that!

Alicetheinvisible · 04/02/2010 18:02

Sorry moose

I have got a bit precious about my lasagne. I used to just get a jar of red sauce and a jar of white sauce and chuck cheese on, but now make my own cheese sauce, and make a rich bolognese for the 'red' bit bit sad really.

Chulita · 04/02/2010 18:05

alice I make all mine too, can't see the point of buying sauces since it's so quick to make. Not sad at all, healthy more like

jennycomelately · 04/02/2010 18:08

Hi ladies, 11+2 here and have been feeling dreadful the last few days so have stayed off the computer. Booked a nuchal scan for next Thursday so kind of looking forward to that, DH has promised to come which is apparently a Big Deal (a whole 2 hours or so away from his desk!).

Cheese pasties - have been craving all cheese and potato things, ended up with just salty chips for dinner yesterday cos the chip shop didn't have cheese pasties (only get takeaway occasionally so was very disappointed)

Homebirth - have had 4 homebirths and am sort of considering not having one this time! Don't know why, my last one was supposed to be homebirth nirvana with an independent midwife and heated birthpool and it was just a bit meh for some reason, sure I'll come to my senses nearer the time though. Would help if I had a clue where we're going to be living by August...

Oh and we've run out of heating oil. Great. Supposed to be moving house soon and now we have to top up the tank - how annoying is that?!

Hope everyone well, will try and keep up with thread a bit better.

Alicetheinvisible · 04/02/2010 18:09

Do you really find it quick? Mine takes me the best part of an hour of actually cooking, then in the oven for 40mins. It can get expensive if you use the jars though, especially when tinned tomatoes are only about 40p
