Night night everyone! Was asleep by 8pm yesterday, today might be similar. Off to snuggle in bed and crochet wonky things to palm off as gifts
Fingers crossed no dodgy dreams for anyone tonight!

bouncingblueberries · 03/02/2010 19:56

chulita despite being experienced enough to "know better" (ie. I've given birth once already and still have an accurate memory of the event), I'm now convinced I will breathe this baby out in a serene fashion thanks to my yoga classes! I will relax into each contraction and the baby will simply glide out like a well greased slippy thing

I'm delusional, I know

But seriously, I am going to give this yoga/active birthing thing a good go this time round. I was neither mentally or physically prepared last time round, but I'm determined to be more prepared this time.

Not that my last birth experience was bad, but ds did get stuck at the very end, which I'm sure had a lot to do with lying flat on my back instead of crouching, which is how I wanted to be. Hey ho.

Sweet Dreams girls!

liahgen66 · 03/02/2010 21:14

hi ladies,

Glad to see evryone is well.

I'm sure she won't mind me posting this but starshaker is in A and E and would probably welcome some hugs and warm MN wishes

here

Keep up the good work ladies. x

cakeywakey · 03/02/2010 21:53

Poor Starshaker am hoping that all will be well for her.

DibbyDab and others - do try not to worry about the horror/overstated stories. Childbirth isn't a barrel of laughs, but you just need to focus on the end result. There can be benefits too. I was high as a kite on gas and air - they took it off me at one point I was so off my face.

I had a tough time but would have done it all again the next day to have the amazing experience of meeting my DD for the first time again.

And you'll never have a better cup of tea or slice of toast than the ones you get after you're out of the delivery room!

Aussieng · 03/02/2010 21:55

Hi Liahgen good to "see" you - hope you are well and thanks for the link.

I'm locked out of my house Dh is at work so I've spent the evening in the conservatory (lock is broken) where fortunately I have a yoga mat and an electric fire and a bookcase. Just remembered that I also have a laptop so thought I'd log on and see how you are all doing. Hopefully DH will be home soon. I'm toasty but getting a little uncomfortable!

starshaker · 03/02/2010 22:58

Thank you ladies for you thoughts. Im out and no blood clot which is good. They think the pain is gall stones (yay) and the breathlessness is just cos of the extra strain of 2 babies. I just need to let them know if the pain comes back. Was itching to get out cos i hate hospitals especially when i forgot my phone charger lol

vitapulchra · 03/02/2010 23:38

Glad to hear you're all right, starshaker, and that your scan went well, doodlydoo. That's very good news! I'm surprising myself by being much more rational than previously and keep thinking I have no real reason to think anything other than that all is well.

I haven't found this thread about horrible things you "wish you had known" (but probably really didn't want to know) before giving birth, but I just wanted to reassure you first timers that the dramatic stories always get the most attention. Those of us who are lucky enough to give birth in a more or less straightforward manner just don't have exciting stories. For me, each one gets shorter: DS1, 7 hours contracting, 1.5 pushing; DD1, 1.5 hrs contracting, 20 min. pushing; DS2, 50 min contracting, 8 min. pushing. No drugs, and with the latter two, no tears. I'm quite certain that should no problems develop, DC4 will gracefully tumble out in mere minutes, donning a halo and a mischievous wink.

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 08:22

Good Morning

How is everyone today?

Glad to hear you're well Star!! How worrying for you!

Nothing to report here, other than feeling a little better - thank goodness!!

Morning!
Glad you're ok star
Just to say, I have a friend who had 4 children, and said she only had 4 because she found labour so easy! Best to be relaxed about it, our babies are all coming out one way or another and they are so beautiful (in a kind of scrunched up gremlin way) when they do!
I'm having a rest from ms at the moment which is so lovely! Seem to be doubly exhausted at the minute, absolutely shattered by 7pm. Hope I get an energy boost soon.
Happy Thursday everyone

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 10:27

Happy Thursday Chulita

Your friend is really lucky with 4 easy labours!!! I guess I'm lucky that I've had 2 easy labours although with my first I was petrified!! But it was also funny (apparently...) because I kept falling asleep between contractions I woke up to push and went back to sleep for a couple of minutes. Well it was 3am....and I'd been up all day/night!!

Student MW who delivered dd thought it was brilliant!!

Morning!

My morning sickness seems to be back with a vengeance! Started yesterday early afternoon and I was so ill I decided I had to get something to eat at the train station. For some bizarre reason, a cheese and onion pasty had me salivating. So wolfed that down on the train home only to spend the rest of the evening feeling bloated and disgusting. Was too embarrassed to admit to dh what I'd eaten so just ate some melon and pleaded morning sickness to get out of eating the wonderful, healthy nutrious dinner he had lovingly prepared.

Bleurgh.

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 11:34

Awwww, Blueberries hope you feel better soon. Must something about reaching 15weeks - I had the same at the weekend.
Cheese and Onion pasty sounds delish!! Then again, anything cheesy seems to set my taste buds off lately - cheesy quavers or wotsits, cheese sandwiches, cheese on chips, cheese on chilli/jacket potato.

Awwww, I'm sooooo hungry!!!!

Doodleydoo · 04/02/2010 11:55

Morning ladies, Star good news about gall stones vs blood clot - annoying but less annoying iyswim!

I have just met my lovely personal trainer - have decided that after doing no excercise with my dd that I need to be in peak condition for birth and post natally (and it will hopefully reduce my risk of pre-eclampsia and gd) but I can't find a local gym with a creche so have opted for some home training - same price as the gym so made sense to me and I don't have to travel!
Anyway am concentrating on my back, upper body and knees because of the relaxin later on and because I am useless at cardio have been advised to do lots of walks!

Anyway all very exciting and I believe worth every penny as if I have to have a cs again then I will be in good physical condition to make recovery easier AND if I am lucky enought to do it the other way then it can only help!

I am rather hoping that giving birth will be a bit like doing a poo (sorry!!!!) although as I never "progressed" last time they have told me they don't know if I will go into labour or can go into labour oh well, pelvic floor all the way and hoping for a baby that just spits itself out whilst I am coughing!

(For all firstimers - I was so so worried about birth and I don't think that helped anything frankly, I am so much more chilled out now. I know there will be pain BUT I also know there are drugs that counteract the pain if you want them, also wish I had moved around during labour but was too lazy which didn't help.... but even after a long labour, failure to progress, emcs am going back for more - hooray! so it genuinely can't be all bad!)

Dibbydab · 04/02/2010 12:11

Afternoon girls,

Feeling a lot better today about childbirth - August is a looooong way off, and I'm going to enjoy my pregancy and not think about the birth until nearer the time - no point stressing over what you can't do anything about.

Looking into ante natal yoga (I'm really not very bendy!), hypnobirthing techniques, NHS classes and NCT classes.

NCT want £174 for a 2 day course, not really sure about it tbh (and DH is very "why do we need that when NHS is free?"), all I really want it for is to try and meet up with other mums to be - I've got no friends with pre-school children so don't want to feel really isolated when on my maternity leave.

mmmmmm cheese and onion pasty. Curses to you BBB I was so determined to have a healthy day today!

neenz · 04/02/2010 12:34

I have been craving cheese and onion pasties, too!

I didn't do NCT cos there wasn't a class nearby. I did the NHS ones which were great for meeting people (very local), made a couple of good friends there, and for info. Looking back I have no regrets that I didn't do NCT - I read lots of books instead and felt they gave me better preparation. Others I know who did NCT found that the people just ended up competing with each other after the babies were born as to whose baby was doing what first! I suppose its pure luck as to who's in your class.

I have met lots of mums at local playgroups and I think that's a good way to meet people. I didn't know anyone either really before I had the twins! And also I have found that when people go back to work you really lose touch as either you are working, they are working etc etc!

bigmuther65 · 04/02/2010 12:39

Hi all having bleeding again since last night of to the midwife this afternoon to see if she can listen in with the doppler. If not it is a trip to the EPU again.
Hope you feel better soon Star

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 12:46

I didn't do NCT classes either - just the NHS ones, actually I didn't even hear about them until I was on the May 2010 ante-natal boards.

No regrets tho - the NHS classes were great fun and I'm still in touch with a few of the other mums. And there was no competing to speak of Just a lot of 1st time mums who were totally bricking it and looking for reassurance.
I want to do them again this year but dh says no way. I'm inclined to agree with him actually, I just about remember how to change a nappy etc. But they were fun....

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 12:48

Oh BigMuther This really hasn't been an easy pregnancy for you has it? Hope all goes well with MW/EPU xx

mrsZaC · 04/02/2010 13:02

morning ladies,

Glad your ok star, hope your feeling better soon. Sorry to hear about your bleeding bigmuther hope your ok.

Not much to report from me, heart palpitations driving me nuts!!! having to really concentrate on my breathing to try to control them but least I'm not puking like some of you guys so I guess I can cope

I have to confess I'm not really too worried about the birth, probably because I'm not really thinking about it too much at the moment, I know it's going to be hard but I also know I'll get through it and have a super prize at the end so that's good enough for me

bouncingblueberries · 04/02/2010 13:58

kaylo cheese on chips...drool!

mrsZaC · 04/02/2010 14:01

I'm feeling the cheesy love mmm cheese

OP posts:
NichyNoo · 04/02/2010 14:22

Mmmmhh...cheese!!! Am loving cheese at the moment

Doodleydoo · 04/02/2010 14:37

Stop with the cheese ladies, am so wanting some now with a big gherkin (oh yes I am a typical pregnant woman!!!)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed off, we moved house and had a demand for £400 from the electricity company as a security deposit I thought unusual but hey ho. So we phoned them and they told us that the relevant people weren't in and so they couldn't take the money so we phoned again and the same thing happened (a week apart). we phoned again to ask them if we were on the right rate as we had a letter saying we were on a business rate so phoned them again and they said that that was the best rate and that they didn't supply us domestically. Huge bill came in, we phoned around and said we were moving, today about 30 mins ago a BAILIFF came to the front door and frankly I felt very threatened. Am going to shout at the power company for threatening a pregnant woman and for refusing to deal with us when we requested. Am fuming

Anyway enough about that not really the right forum but am so angry and needed a vent.

bigmuther I really hope that all goes well this afternoon.

Chulita · 04/02/2010 14:49

doodley - that's horrendous! security deposit?? what a load of cock, what company is it? We've changed a few times cos we move with DH's work and we like British Gas but we always start off with some other rogues company. That's horrible! Hope you get something sorted
bigmuther hope everything sorts itself out for you [hugs]
