its so annoying when dp doesnt agree with the names you like, I love Grace but its dps mums name and she wont have it lol. think the problem is with 24 weeks still to go it could all change.

tsc dp says he doesnt want to know what we are having now but to be honest I still do and as we had decided we would from the start we are sticking to the plan or I will ask the doc to write it down for me and dp doesnt have to know

my aunts friends grandson is called sonny, when her granddaughter was due she kept trying to talk them into calling her cher, they didnt of course they called her kered which is her dads name backwards definately original

stac14 · 30/01/2010 09:46

Morning all, how are you? So much for a long lie, dp had to go into work and ds is playing football. I must have been a bitch in a former life. Spent all night tossing and turning the woke up at 6.30am lol x. Is anyone else struggling with sleep patterns? XxX

kittykat77 · 30/01/2010 12:09

Stac my DH is at work today too. Had a friend over this morning with her DD and between the kids they have managed to make the house a complete tip! Guess I will be tidying up for the rest of the afternoon...!

On the names - think we have sort of agreed on a girls name, but we can't agree on boys. I really like Sebastian, but DH hates it with a passion. Says it is too posh!

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/01/2010 13:49

stac my sleep is disturbed every single night without fail anywhere between the hours of 2 and 7 because I need to go to the toilet. Its really starting to annoy me and its only going to get worse!

We like Evie for a girl and Dylan for a boy and they seem to be the ones we agree on so will prob stick with those

stac14 · 30/01/2010 13:56

I like both of those names dh21 my cousins wee boy is called dylan he is adorable. The baby upstairs has a terrible cold and I kept waking up with her crying wonder if my body is trying to prepare me for sleepless nights lol

kitty DP is home now and away to do housework, I have a thumping sore head again probably lack of sleep. I like the fact you can shorten Sebastian to Seb, would DH not go for that as a compromise? I have a cheek to ask that DP wants to stick to the names we have at the moment even though people were telling him Peyton is common sounding ah who knows lol

Hows everyone today? xx

WinterMadness · 30/01/2010 14:14

Very pleased! Just had the 'Lois' conversation with hubby...and he LIKES it! Yaaay! I was convinced he'd veto it. That's made my day

Spirael · 30/01/2010 15:48

Sebastian is on my list, kittykat. I love the name! Maybe it does sound a little posh, but I think I prefer it that way. DH likes the name, though he prefers Seb as a shortening while I like Bast. But we can both tolerate either.

We also have Caspian on the list and wild card addition Leonardo (Leo/Leon) too. Recently DH has been talking about how Leonardo has really grown on him, so I'm guessing it's moving up in the rating! We both have mixed European heritage, but nothing specifically Italian. Not sure whether or not that's a problem.

For girls, our list consists of Kimberley, Tabitha, Elizabeth, Juliette, Caroline or Madeleine. Girls names seem a lot easier for us to agree on than boys! It's taken months for us to find three boys names we can both tolerate and I reckon they lean towards the unusual.

All the names that have been brought up so far are lovely. There was a little girl in the hairdressers the other day called Lois, and she was cute as a button! First Lois I've ever come across though, so it doesn't seem particularly common.

kapars · 30/01/2010 17:27

Hey ladies,
I've come over from the other thread but haven't been on for ages. I see Stac, Buckler, Jbro, Viksam and Blackcurrents are on here too.
Glad you are all well and hello to all the ladies on this thread.
My stats are kapars, July 9th, 36, #1
I'm feeling really great now after getting through the fog of first few months.
Started back at yoga which has done wonders for my backache.
See everyone is excitedly picking names.
I'm looking forward to scan on Feb 20 - though I am vey excited to find out the sex but my husband doesn't want to know!! Oh dear - I think he is coming around to my way of thinking though. Anyone else had this? I am rubbish with surprises but he prefers a surprise.

WinterMadness · 30/01/2010 18:03

Welcome kapars

Have to say dh and I both agree that there's something special about not knowing what you're having so I'm lucky he thinks the same I do. Just have to have more names shortlisted! My friend got told she was having a boy though and had a girl so it kind of makes me think what's the point of finding out anyway as they sometimes get it wrong!

Spirael · 30/01/2010 21:05

DH and I are planning on finding out the gender at the next scan, on the 4th March. Assuming of course that LO is playing nicely this time! They couldn't get all the measurements last time because LO was too busy squirming and avoiding the wand.

We're probably not going to make the gender common knowledge amongst friends and family however, partially because of the fact that they may well get it wrong. I'd hate for anyone to get all excited over the mistaken gender or buy us incorrect gender specific stuff ahead of time. The other reason is it's a nice secret for DH and I to keep to ourselves.

Ooh, your scan is on my birthday, kapars! Surprising to see a scan on a Saturday, I think my local NHS facilities completely shut down at weekends. Anyway, I'm spending that day in London going to The Baby Show. Should be fun!

Had a good day today, got a load of decorating stuff ready to do the nursery and also used some of the vouchers in the Bounty/Emma's Diary packs to get lots of cheap/free nappies and such from Asda. Also picked up a Philips microwave steriliser, which is normally at least £25, for £10 from Asda too! If anyone needs one, might be worth grabbing. I think the sale lasts for another week.

Wonderstuff · 30/01/2010 21:36

Hi all.

I'm having a rubbish evening - I threw up my dinner, haven't been sick in ages and really thought that was behind me. Was really shattered this afternoon, couldn't do a thing, had to have a nap. Now dh has gone out for the evening and dd was a nightmare to get to bed, for some reason she will go down for dh but not for me, she finally crashed out on my lap at just gone 9. I've just finished a mini magnum in an attempt to cheer myself up, might have to go and get another one. I'm worn out with this pregnancy. [blowing rasberry emoticon] Bloody cat won't leave me alone either.

kkfairybrains · 31/01/2010 01:23

welcome kapars !
i love everyones name choices! so funny to hear of someone else thinking of sonny because i'v never heard of anyone else! great minds think alike tsc! my grandads name sonny too so makes it extra special!
we'r not going to find out the sex. i'd love to know cos i'm just so curious and would love to be able to start imagining what he or she will look like and stuff but think it'l be worth the wait for the excitement and surprise at the end! so excited thinking about things today!
on an extra good note i feel FANTASTIC today! was busy all day with work and never felt sick, tired, headaches!!!!!!! nothing! long may it last! was getting a bit sick of listening to myself complaing!
good on your dp stac for helping with the house when your not feeling good

stac14 · 31/01/2010 17:15

Emster30 · 31/01/2010 17:32

Hello all! Feeling sorry for myself today as my wisdom tooth has flared up big time and have been in lots of pain. Paracetamol helps a bit but I knew ibuprofen would be better. NHS direct and a chemist both said only a doctor/midwife could recommend I took it in pregnancy, but after a fair bit of online research I decided to trust my own judgement, took one, and have felt much better since then. I'll try not to take any more but I'll see how it goes. As far as I can see it isn't really recommended in the first trimester, and certainly not in the third, but seems OK in the second.

kapars · 31/01/2010 19:29

Spirael - actually got the scan date wrong it's the 18 Feb!
I think it is a nice idea to keep the sex a secret as something to share as a couple. And yes of course they can get it wrong..
Emster - OW that sounds painful. Hope you feel better.
Stac I'm great thanks...so much better than the first trimester..feel like a new woman! Definitely getting a hormone high instead of a low at the moment. How about you?

stac14 · 31/01/2010 20:20

kapars think i'm the same, was 16wks yesterday and tum seems to have rounded over night lol

emster sounds painful hun, i'm at the dentist this week for my check up, hope i dont need anything lol

wonder are you feeling any better?

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2010 20:23

Hi everyone, Im now 16 weeks I have ballooned over the past week or so, people have noticed a bump and it does get alot larger by the eve but even first thing in the morning there is still a bump there which is great

I dont know if ive felt it move yet, everytime I think I have I keep thinking its too early but it does seem to be dancing on my bladder as I need the toilet every 5 mins. Im sure Ill know when I feel def movements.

Chulita · 31/01/2010 20:52

dh me too! Everytime I stand up I have to pee...getting old already I know I've definitely felt it move and I'm only 15 weeks but my abs are totally non-existent after DD (eg. when I have bad wind you can see the air moving through my guts as a lump on my skin, it's totally vile!)

Wonderstuff · 31/01/2010 21:24

Emster hope you are feeling better soon. I haven't been to the dentist for over a year, really must get an appointment booked. Might wait until I get my exemption cert though, have a feeling I need a bit done, mindyou couldn't find an NHS dentist last pregnancy.

I threw up again this morning and generally felt really really washed out, but seem to be doing a bit better this evening. I have just been booking up travel for the year ahead, booked train tickets to Edinburgh for Easter, last saw my mate when she was pregnant, her son was one just after Christmas, so am well overdue a visit. Got tickets to Bristol for a hen do at the tail end of Feb, but messed that one up because when I selected return next day it actually booked me on a train a month later, didn't realise until after I'd paid - have emailed hoping they will cancel the non-refundable ticket. Then I booked a ferry to France for Sept, which was weird because babs is obviously going to be on that trip - I had to enter a name and gender for it - so babes is down as going to France under the name Miss Baby Robinson - I'm hoping that will be OK and I won't have to pay a huge fee to get it changed Also will have to get a passport quite quickly, hope it isn't late making an appearance!

stac14 · 31/01/2010 21:47

wonder you have been busy lol how strange having to book for lo before its born.

dh21 i'm sure i have felt movement, i was 16weeks yesterday and tum seems to have appeared overnight lol,

chulita i havent had abs for years disappeared when ds was born, but if i'm honest even slim i didnt havd abs, never been good at exercising lol

OP posts:
Emster30 · 31/01/2010 22:07

I'm going to be on the phone to the dentist begging for an appointment first thing - unfortunately I see him privately so don't benefit from the free treatment, not that I've got my exemption form yet. I have been on the NHS waiting list at the practice for at least two years - might try making a fuss!

I haven't felt anything I can definitely say is movement (15 weeks today) but I have been trying to tell the difference between digestion and baby movements. I know people tend to feel it earlier in subsequent pregnancies; I'm sure second time round I would be able to feel it for sure by now.

Chulita · 01/02/2010 10:33

I got to hear Finlet's heartbeat this morning and got a 20 wk scan date for 10th of March so all's good here. Also had 2 people move in, one next door and one 2 doors down and they're both 38 wks! How crazy...

WinterMadness · 01/02/2010 11:33

Feeling very sorry for myself today - been suffering with diarrhoea and vomitting since about 10pm last night. Thank God hubby's been able to work from home this morning to help me out with ds. Although he still 'doesn't do nappies' it's been a massive help! He's going in shortly then we're home alone

kittykat77 · 01/02/2010 12:32

oh no winter. That sounds like a nightmare. Hope you feel better soon.

I haven't really felt any 'proper' moving yet. Have the odd twinge where I think it could be, but then not totally sure! Have midwife appointment tomorrow, so hopefully will be able to hear it. Keep wondering if I am still pregnant this week, as I feel so much better than I did - and don't really have any bad symptoms at the moment!

Wonder we are trying to think about plans for later in the year - it's DH's 40th in Nov, and we are talking about what to do for that - but I keep thinking that I have no idea how hard it will be with the current 2 plus a baby - don't know if I will be able to face doing anything too much - think we may see how things are when the baby arrives and then decide!

stac14 · 01/02/2010 12:36

aww winter hope your ok hun, theres nothing worse than that

Thats great chulita about finlet, how many weeks are you?

Went for my midwife appointment, done all the usual checks and everything seems fine, they think they may have increased my thyroxine a bit quickly so back for bloods in 3 weeks, also got my afp(??) bloods done so just have to wait to see if we are high or low risk, somehow I now feel nervous. Asked about the doppler, couldnt help myself but mw said they prefer to wait till after 18weeks as they dont want to worry you unneccessarily if they cant find it. She also explained that they cant always offer a scan to put your mind at rest so I will need to wait till my appointment on 22nd Feb, but pretty sure I felt lo move so not too worried.

How is everyone today?
