hello all! Gosh it is so busy in RL I am barely getting chance to breathe! We got up at 5.30 yesterday and were in walsall for 9am for ds1's judo competition. Exhausting day! I nearly passed out while shouting at the matside, think my BP is low again. I had a sore throat and earache as well. Today, its not so painful but I am straining to even talk (much to the DCs delight!!) I have just got in from the judo run for ds2, FIL is fetching ds1 from his judo lesson for me. DH is at college tonight. He has got an exam eek!! Plays and parties galore this week! I will be glad for the weekend, not having to get up and out the door by 8.30!

Memory, sorry to hear about your step grandad.

Hobnob, well its 50/50!

Lola thats lovely!

I only feel movements every now and again. Nothing awfully noticeable, but then I have been just sooooooooooo busy I don't think I would notice! Trying really hard to resist buying anything for the baby. Have had a look at prams and clothes, but resisted buying anything!! I usually buy something after my 12 weeks scan, but for some reason this time, I don't want to risk it.

OP posts:
memorylapse · 14/12/2009 21:13

Im sat here with my jaw dropped open

I post on a pregnancy forum because it had a specific group for sub chorionic haemotoma.
one of the posters claimed to be 26 weeks pregnant had posted scan pics etc, "named" her unborn baby, her "partner" was posting too...she posted saying she was being rushed to hospital after a car accident, then her partner was rushed to hospital..then she posted saying she was being rushed in for an emergency c section..etc..
anyway it turned out she was a troll..single, not pregnant and posting from her work place...

Den26 · 14/12/2009 21:16

Oh my god! thats horrendous! Who would do that???.....

Hollyoaks · 14/12/2009 21:32

Den - unfortunately lots of sickos do it. We went through an awful experience on facebook where a group of trolls started stealing pics of my nephew from a group on babyloss awareness. They were making sick comments and some were posting made up stories. Just horrible!

ML - better to be a troll than someone really in that situation I suppose, but what sort of sick mind must they have?

memorylapse · 14/12/2009 22:06

it turned out the scan pics she posted were on google..beggars belief...everyone on the site is quite shocked..turned out the whole time she had been posting as her partner as well..and she was posting from work when she claimed to be in hospital

on a lighter note..did any one watch out of my depth..cant stand amanda holden myself but was a good programme..although a little scary at the end

sweetkitty · 14/12/2009 22:19

Watched the Amanda Holden thing too and had a wee blub, how scary at the end? My babies have always come out screaming that must be so scary but so happy all was well, gorgeous big boy too. Don't want to go into too much and scare first timers but I am like the last woman before her epidural, screaming I cannot do it, even at number 3 , am secretly hoping I have one of those 5 minute baby pops out on the toilet labours last one was 1h 35m from "DP my waters have gone" to baby out, about 45 mins of contractions and didn't even push, she kind of expelled herself one contraction head, next one body, afterpains were the worst though, quite fancy an epidural for those.

ML - that's awful but quite common I think

Angelwithin - know what you mean about being so busy, crazy time of year, 3 parties here today, I spent the day running around, DD3 in tow. It was so icy though, walking and driving was a nightmare. Concert tomorrow, I will be glad when Christmas is finally here can put my feet up. Don't think about being pregnant unless someone mentions it or I bend over which is getting more difficult these days.

memorylapse · 14/12/2009 22:27

reminds me of dd2's birth..just over an hour from start to finish..when I started pushing..I wailed to the midwife.."I cant do this..Im going to be pushing for ages"..to which she replied//no you arent..the heads out...be quite happy to have another like that!

Im too rushing around..endless round of school plays etc..packing..moving house..we are doing christmas dinner too..must be mad

pigleychez · 14/12/2009 22:40

Everyone sounds very busy with Christmas plans

ML- It never cesses to amaze me the things people make up! What site was it on? My friend says on she was on for a while was full of attention seekers like that!

I too watched the Amanda Holden thing. I think she did really well as its obviously not an easy thing to learn in 5 weeks.
Was interesting seeing the birth though. DH spoke of the "plug" they used on DD and now I know what he means! Was scary how floppy and blue that baby was but so glad he was ok in the end. Bought back lots of horrid memorys of DD's birth and kinda wondering how I agreed to do it all over again!

Baby has kicking like crazy again today... Appears I have an active one!

schipo · 14/12/2009 23:23

ML that's just wierd - can't imagine what kind of madness makes people think that's a good use of their own or anyone else's time.

I watched the Amanda Holden thing, and couldn't help but wonder if the mother and baby wouldn't have found the whole thing much easier if they'd chosen not to have the cameras and Amanda around. But still interesting for us that she did. Fascinating new babies on screen. I was a bit surprised at how much lying on the back during birthing there was going on to be honest. Is that really what seems like the best thing to do with that sort of pain? I can't imagine being in so much pain I had to scream so can't imagine what would seem like the best thing to do. I thought it was all about squatting and birthing balls now?

Congrats on the scan Hobnob!

HeffaMerryChristmas · 15/12/2009 08:49

I missed the Amanda Holden thing, was it worth watching?

SK - my friend recently had a (second) labour where she woke up saying 'ooh, contractions might be starting' and gave birth 20 minutes later on the loo . My second stage with DD was very fast - the trainee MW was saying 'I can see the head' and the older MW was saying 'no, no, that's just the walls contracting, I'll show you.........oh my gosh, she's out'

ML - what a horrible troll . I don't know what people get out of it

Pigley - glad your DH's nan is doing well, that must be a relief.

Hollyoaks · 15/12/2009 08:53

I watched Amanda Holden too, I was shocked by how much she was screaming in front of the cameras. I don't remember getting to the point where I had lost control, but agree with others, it probably would have helped if they'd suggested she stand up, I know the movement helped me.

The ventouse was quite scary to see as had that with dd, though I was impressed with myself when I saw how much she was still pushing. I was convinced the dr just pulled and I didn't do that much work. Good practise for this one, which I'm convinced will be born in two pushes after a 2 hour labour.

memorylapse · 15/12/2009 11:51

Pigley..the site was called babyandbump..

must admit the floppy baby brought back scary memories for me and DH as when DS2 was delivered he looked just the same..and had to be resusitated..it turned out he had mucous in his passageways which meant his relexes to breathe just didnt kick in..

zarha · 15/12/2009 11:56

Hi all

I've been lurking for quite a while and enjoying your posts. Had a bit of a rollercoaster year and a miscarriage in the summer so was a bit paranoid about leaping in with both feet to join the discussions. Now 17 weeks + so feeling a bit more confident.

I was hoping someone might have some tips to stave off the yucky "morning" sickness. Have been throwing up morning and evening for weeks and tried everything I can think of (ginger, lemon, travel sickness bands, eating regulary, endless supply of hula hoops) but doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Doctor wants to give me drugs but not sure about that...

Any tips would be gratefully received!

itshappenedagain · 15/12/2009 13:21

Hello all!

glad to hear that some have already had ther 20 week scan and are finding out the sex...well if possible- congrats hobnob.

i have mine 2 weeks tomorrow so will be and extra christmas pressie and will finally be able to announce it to the rest of the world on new years eve.

when will you all be starting to get bits together for the baby/babies? cant remember when i started with Ds, but think that the sales could be a good place to start, especially as i have asked for vouchers for christmas...i was planning to get a microwave but may be more tempted to spend them in the baby department.

im really looking forward to christmas, we go to my mums and all i have to do now is finish the blitz of the house and pack the bags, have all Ds bits wrapped and just have to buy the biggers bow in the world to put on his bike. we ahve a carol concert tonight and went to the christingle servce at the weekend, and my Ds was a shepard in the tablo ( apauling spelling!!)

hope all are well soon we will be on a thread counting down babbies born in 2010

memorylapse · 15/12/2009 13:37

welcome Zarha

Im 20 weeks today..and have my anomoly scan a week tomorrow..very nervous about it as it could make or break christmas.
going for a private scan on friday where Im hoping to find out the sex

HeffaMerryChristmas · 15/12/2009 14:51

Welcome to the thread Zarha Sorry you're still feeling sick I haven't found a cure for it yet I'm afraid but I hope it gets better for you soon.

Itshappenedagain - my scan is 2 weeks tomorrow as well, I can't wait!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 15/12/2009 15:43

Hi guys, new thread! God, I've been away a while Well no news is good news here, all is fine. Feeling the baby kick from time to time and getting stronger, it doesn't move as much as ds did, but then ds never stops moving, ever!

Just got my scan date through for 30th dec, so should find out the sex in 2009 at least! Got a consultants appointment tomorrow so he can call me fat twelve different ways and try to convince me I'm having a 14lb monster again.

Memorylapse, there was a very similar troll on mumsnet a year or two ago who pretended to have a premature baby - I can't remember the exact details but I think she said she went into labour after domestic violence? The baby was supposed to be in an a scbu, and the whole sorry saga just went on and on with hundreds of MNetters offering their support and help, even money - anyway she was finally rumbled for the same reason, posting pics of a premature baby off google. God knows what they get out of it, sickos.

memorylapse · 15/12/2009 17:12

James..I remember hearing about that..think it was during my sabbatical from MN..there are some very sick people out there

mollybob · 15/12/2009 17:18

on another site I use a woman posted a whole story about her triplet pregnancy, their premature birth - all sorts of pictures and it wasn't until her perfect husband died in a car accident that she was rumbled. Loads of the pictures were found online eventually. Very strange behaviour.

myfirstbump · 15/12/2009 17:41

Zarha, I've been lurking for about a week too!! I sympathise with the sicky - although I haven't actually been sick, I've been feeling green 24/7 since about 8 weeks, am 17+2 now...if you find a cure tell me!

I'm getting so excited now seeing everyone's news. Got my 20 week scan in the new year and DH and don't want to find out what it is, although I've been wavering on that lately and now I really want to know!

Does anyone believe in the 'mothers just know' instinct?? I haven't got the foggiest about what flavour is growing in there...

sweetkitty · 15/12/2009 20:36

Welcome myfirstbump and zarha my instincts are for a girl but since I have only had girls maybe it's just me being me.

Chances are I will have a long nightmare labour now that I have said I want a 20 minute one, TBH everyone says short labours oh lucky you and in one way you are lucky but you don't get a break it's utterly constant, one contraction is dying away while the next one starts to build up so it feels like one big contraction, also you kind of go into shock.

Have been looking at 7 seaters today as well they all look SO big.

Pram wise probably a P&T Sport or Vibe will get that about March I think.

and well apart from that if it is another girl there's not much else we will need. Well apart from a bigger house that is.

wibblela · 15/12/2009 21:26

Hi myfirstbump and zarha - welcome. Sorry about the sickness, it's not nice at all. I found ginger nuts or rich teas worked for me, but as you have already tried those, not sure what to suggest. My sis (also pg) told me that the sickness was hunger...

I am looking forward to my scan, as was previously suggested I am going to think of it as another pressie as it's not till 5 Jan 2010

Luckily we are being given all the big stuff we will need for when Wibblet arrives, and my Mum sent me a pic of all the baby clothes she has sorted and they covered her 7ft wide bed! I don't think baby will need clothes for a year!

Good thing we are pg over winter - easier to cover up Although the summer's in England are never that hot!

schipo · 15/12/2009 21:38

ml - it's great to see you're celebrating reaching week 20.

nice to hear from myfirstbump and zarha - sorry i can't help with the sickness cures. I could have convinced myself I was having either flavour before I found out it was a boy.

I am getting a bit impressed by the size of my bump. I've a definite 'in' naval - but it's beginning to look a bit stretched already. Every day it seems all a bit more real .

I'm happily postponing buying everything until we move. I have started doing research though but still don't know what sort of pram to get. I have to rely a lot on public transport so have been thinking I might just as well get one of those lightweight Maclaren Techno ones that you can apparently put a new baby in. I do prefer the bigger wheels you get some of the Icandy's and bugaboos etc, and like the idea of being able to face baby towards you as well as away, but not sure they'd fit on a london bus well. Does anyone know?

In the meantime I'm so grateful the over-the-bump jeans arrived before this very cold weather did!

brightredballoon · 15/12/2009 22:55

Hi everyone

Schipo my bump is getting a lot bigger too, I was concerned I was quite neat but not concerned anymore!!
I don't have any experience of lightweight buggy that faces you or if the Icandys bugaboos etc fit on buses. My friend has a bugaboo and I think its quite narrow so that might be ok.

Sweetkitty I have a P&T sport at the moment although I dont use it, I was thinking about getting the vibe but so undecided, I need to really look into them.

Littleonemum I am booked in for my first Celvapan jab tomorrow. I am really, really nervous. I thought I had it right in my mind that I wanted that one instead of pandemrix but now I am worrying as not many people have taken the celvapan one.

Nothing new to report here, enjoying the run up to Christmas, done a lot of shopping and even more consuming of mince pies!

HeffaMerryChristmas · 16/12/2009 07:42

Myfirstbump - welcome to the thread I felt that my first DC was a DD and I was right but I guess there was a 50/50 chance I would be! Not sure about this one, I think another DD but I'm not as sure as I was last time.

Re nausea: a friend of mine recommended the Muti Morning Sickness Stick (it's on Amazon). It's one of those aromatherapy sticks. She had very bad MS and said it was the only thing that helped. I haven't tried it so can't vouch for it, but if you're desperate you may want to try it.

Schipo - I have a Bugaboo Gecko and it's brilliant but it'd be awful on public transport. It is easy to fold down but it takes two hands and folds into two bits so you'd struggle to put it down on a bus or tube. I hardly ever put it down because we have room in the house for it to stay up and I walk everywhere so it's ideal for me. It does feel quite compact so it's not a huge monster so it would probably fit OK. I think the Cameleon is very similar, not sure about the Bee.

I really can't decide whether to trade it in for a P&T double or whether to try and get by with LO in sling and DD in the pushchair and then DD walking (with buggy board) and LO in the pushchair.

BRB - good luck for your jab today, I'm sure it will be fine.
