LOl KAYZ, well not on the cards that's for sure, but maybe a faint glimmer somewhere along the 5 years or so that I have left before my eggs dry up
TINKS, I think I'll start getting a few bits next month (bearing in mind I have 4 to buy for). Trousers, shorts and nightware seem to be the things that sell out fastest (plus swimming cossies) so may start off there. Now I'm back online I'll start selling on e-bay again so that I can justify my purchases!

Diege · 22/01/2010 13:07

Hi COSMO! You poor thing Have been there (though not a&e, sounds scary)and know how frustrating and worrying it can be. Rest assured that by the time school comes around they are like super heroes and are rarely ill, so I'm told .

Rugbylovingmum · 22/01/2010 13:12

Hi all,

well DD is definitely getting into a bad habit at night - she wakes up at 3.30 for a feed then just won't go back to sleep until 5. She just lies whinging and builds up to a cry so I soothe her and she is quiet for 5-10min then starts again. It's maddening! She isn't hungry, doesn't need changed and it's not a sore cry, just grumpy. It's like she can't get back to sleep even though she has managed fine for the past 3 months. She is now starting to take ages to settle after earlier feeds too - argh! She feeds between 2-4 times a night and we are getting less sleep than when she was a newborn. She has always been a great sleeper so I feel it's somehow my fault she is getting worse but I don't know what I've done . Annoyingly she has already had 2 great 2 hour naps since we got up at 6 - she sleeps better during the day than at night but if I try to cut down on her daytime sleeps she gets really grumpy and is even worse at night. I just don't know what to do.

Sorry - moan over, off to read through the thread.

Cosmogirl · 22/01/2010 13:30

Thanks Diege. Yeah I have heard that from lots of people too - keep clinging onto that! It is really hard work nursing a poorly baby isn't it? Managed to have a shower today but she has been pretty much attached to me for the last 3 days.

Number 5? You are a superwoman to be considering that! We struggle daily with one ;-)

Rugby - sorry for sleep issues. Nothing quite so draining as sleep deprivation. We struggled with hourly wakings etc when DD was around 6 months and it was breaking me so we stumbled upon co-sleeping and have not turned back. I know it is not for everyone but it works great for us - we all sleep on two double mattresses on the floor. Plan is to transition DD to her own room when she is ready. I did not want to go down the CC or sleep training route.

Hi Kayz/Tink.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/01/2010 13:31

Rugby- i'll join you on the 'mummies napping sofa'... DD2 is teething and for the last 2 weeks has been waking me anywhere between 2.30am and 6am for a feed, leaving me awake for ages afterwards and often not getting any more sleep... this morning was 5.15 she woke me... i didn't get any more sleep after that despite her nodding off while feeding!! Little bugger!!

Cosmo- sorry for poorlies- not nice is it- it's always worse when they first start- i think DS was off half his first term of nursery because of illness!!

Diege- No 5!!!! And i will have to wait until DH is in a better job (ie more money), in a bigger house and other Dc's are older before a no 4 here... DH is still adamant he doesn't want any more... however i managed to talk him round to having no 3... sure i can do it again!! thouhg, maybe this time he'll remember my bribe tactics as he forgot with Dd2!!

Diege · 22/01/2010 13:46

That's a PITA about the sleeping RUGBY, esp as you've got used to a baby that sleeps well. I suppose on paper the experts would say cut down naps in the day, even if baby not happy (ie, time them and wake up after a certain time) but I know that doesn't work for everyone. Ds has also been difficult to settle in the evenings - drops off ok but then screams from 9 till 11ish. I suspect he's ready to drop his late afternoon one so will try that. Other than letting her cry it out a bit and keeping an eye on daytime naps, not sure what to suggest really.

CANT, I'm sure you will persuade dh too. Men are weak and can usually be bent this way or that. No more babies for me I'd say, but if I start to feel broody again it's nice to know that dh is keen too.

COSMO, agree nursing sicklies is a killer. It's one thing on which I really 'could do better' as a mum. I get really stressed out with illness, esp if it involves vomiting!

Cosmogirl · 22/01/2010 13:54

Urgh vomiting is horrible. DD has a good trick of coughing so hard she is sick and it always seem to end up going down my top....nice :-)

Can't - teething is not fun either is it? Poor you..We only have one and a half teeth through so a long long way to go!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/01/2010 13:57

DD still hasn't got a single one thru cosmo- but i can see and feel them right under her gums...I so need some sleep so hopefully she'll go back off tomorrow morning ok and the other 2 will have a lie in then i can get another hour orso

Diege · 22/01/2010 14:02

COSMO, yes!!! Vomiting down top so that is rests on top of 'cleavage' (I say that with irony]) is very familiar. And I'm so slatternly that I just wipe it away with a baby wipe
CANT, sorry missed that about teething. Hopefully you can get a lie-in as you say tomorrow.
Right better wake ds so that he can have his bottle before school run. I am so glad that the snow has gone and we don't have to leave an hour for walking time!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/01/2010 14:07

Diege- there's no point changing it as you know if you do they'll vomit on the clean one too!! thats my excuse anyway....

I know what you mean in snow front- it took us bloody ages with having to get over main roads etc in the snow and then the ice... DD1 could barely walk in it!!

tinksbabyis1 · 22/01/2010 15:30

cosmo - hope u all get better soon

diege - i hope april is early enough to buy bits i could start buying next month as was going to put money aside for bits from next month

dont want to buy too early and get bored with bits!!

hi cant and rugby

bracken is just about to get her top two teeth

tinksbabyis1 · 22/01/2010 16:32

know what i want to buy from boden may buy in a week while bits still in stock

want to get 1 pair of shorts
2 pairs of capris pants
4 tshirts
short pjs
2 gypsy dresses

Cosmogirl · 22/01/2010 16:44

Thanks tink. Hope bracken had a lovely first bday. Think it will be a few months until dd gets top two teeth can't see the outline yet. It makes them look so grown up when they get their teeth I think.

Rugbylovingmum · 22/01/2010 18:20

Hi all,

sorry to moan and run earlier but DP came home to work and pinched the internet cable. Thanks for the sympathy - it's not even the lack of sleep that's the worst part it's the not knowing whats wrong. I like to work out what the problem is, carefully plan how to deal with it and then put it into action (total nerd!). That just doesn't work with babies does it but my brain's not getting that yet . Even worse is when she is crying I can't seem to comfort her - if I pick her up she just screams louder and flails around kicking and throwing her head about like she used to when she had wind but nothing comes up - all I can do is pat her until she calms down which makes me feel useless .

Cosmo - poor you, it sounds like it has been very stressful. A trip to hospital is always a bit scary. I hope she feels better and a bit less clingy soon.

Cant - a mummies napping sofa sounds fantastic, I'll def have a spot please. Sorry DD is teething, you feel so sorry for them don't you.

Tink and Diege - lol at you planning your April shopping now!

maxxymoosmummy · 22/01/2010 18:30

hi everyone, been busy on here today had t just read through and catch up
COSMO - hope all the illnesses leave you soon, its awful i agree caring for a poorly baby.
think i may have to look on this boden site people, need summer clothes for DS
RUGBY - sorry to hear about the sleeping, hope it all goes better soon, and hope she starts settling sooner, theres nothing worse then lack of sleep,
DC5 DIEGE sounds like fun haha
busy weekend ahead so may not get chance to come on till sunday night / monday morning.
CANT - hope DD2 sleeps well for you in the morning as sunday is an early start for you i guess
hi to anybody ive missed

maxxymoosmummy · 22/01/2010 18:32

oh forgot to say been out for lunch today with a couple of friends i used to go to college with before leaving to have DS, was really fun and different as all my 'other friends' dont wnat anything to do with me now with DS. glad to have a couple still that want me and DS in their lives :D and he loves them too. also saw DSs dad in town, and he was going to ignore DS and not cum over to see him, until my friend shouted him n told him to come see his son. i got really annoyed and angry so couldnt even speak to him. i was fuming.

Diege · 22/01/2010 19:21

MMM, that's odd about ds's dad, or is he always like that? Have a great weekend anyway, and enjoy the party!

maxxymoosmummy · 22/01/2010 19:25

ye hes always like that, doesnt so much bother unless it suits him. just trying to find a house i like, joined a website (homeswapper) so hoping someone wants to swap a 2 bed house or bungalow for my flat

essenceofSES · 22/01/2010 20:59

Wow! Nice busy day on here!

MMM - hope you and DS have a great wkend. Enjoy the zoo and the party

Diege - I was pleased when O crept up the centiles at yesterday's weigh in to 19lb11 but 24lb!!! He sounds like a lovely chunky aquishy boy
I was also wondering whether J and O still looked alike!
As for you going for no5 - yay!!!
Re: job, boss changed mind about agreeing to 3 days and said I had to do at least 4 days. I was really disappointed but have decided to give it a go. I'll be doing all day Mon, Tuesday morning, all day Thurs & Fri and Saturday morning. First day back in is Thurs 25th Feb although I have a meeting to go to on 18th as well.

Boden - I've still never bought anything from there! Must take a look!

Rugby - I think the worst thing is when they go backwards in their sleeping. At least you know she can do it. Repeat the mantra...this is a phase and this too shall pass...

Cosmo - sounds like a rough time. Let's hope she's had her fair share for 2010 now.

tink - sounds like you've got your shopping sorted

Hello Kayz, Ginger, Gruff and anyone else lurking

maxxymoosmummy · 22/01/2010 21:25

sure we will have a good weekend im excited to go the zoo as not been for years, and never took ds. but its first of many visits as getting a membership

essenceofSES · 22/01/2010 21:27

aquishy??!
I meant squishy!

Diege · 22/01/2010 21:31

Hi SES! Work will be fine you know; that's not a bad balance of days, though the sat morning a bit of a pain. 4 days works for me, though in keeping J off nursery on the Thurs when I work from home, it does mean that I have to catch up at the weekend (so this week I get to miss out on the visit to MIL . Did you sort out the nursery place (sorry if I missed this)? I must post a recent piccy of J so we can compare too. HV did question me on what he's having meal times as he's moved from 91st to 97th percentile, but agreed that while he does seem to enjoy his food, he's not having more than he should (milk at 7am then cereal and fruit; main dinner and pud at 11.30 with water, milk mid-afternoon, savoury course at 5pm, then bottle at 6, followed by pudding; does that sound ok?) Now in 12-18 mths stuff too which is a novelty for me as dds were all at least 6 months 'behind' (5th centiles). And less of the no. 5 JUST a glimmer in dh's eye
MMM that house swop site sound a great idea - fingers crossed you'll get some interest. Would it be in the same area you were looking?
Well SW is down the pan for today. Dh's friend bought us some quality street last night so of course I stood no chance, and now dh has gone out on take-away duty . I must try and regain the will power I once had .
Thank-goodness for the weekend, and here's to a good sleep tonight for everyone!

maxxymoosmummy · 22/01/2010 21:44

ye im hoping to be in the same area or closer to CANT but dont want to move too far away from family. so just hoping for a good swap

essenceofSES · 22/01/2010 21:46

Sounds fairly similar to O's meal times.
He has milk at 7.30am; breakfast (toast, pear and a bit of yoghurt) at 8.30am; lunch (eg: pasta & mushroom in tomato sauce, fish fingers or sausage, chips and babycorn or something similar followed by banana) at 12.30; milk at 2pm followed by 90min nap (on a good day!) and then tea of cheese sandwich or rice cakes and dips with satsuma for pudding at 5pm.

O is just moving into 9-12mo stuff.

Got nursery sorted. Much better than the first one I saw. It's a converted old primary school and feels spacious and they have cots for all the babies in a separate room to the "day room". He's got his first settling in session next wednesday.

There's quite a few recent photos of O on my FB page if you want to take a look.

Diege · 23/01/2010 08:44

Morning! That's reassuring about O's mealtimes SES. I was sort of following GF's plan for food, but throwing in an extra 'supper' course after the last bottle. Nursery sounds great - having the cots in another room is such a good idea. J has to make to with one in the baby room which isn't ideal, and he rarely manages more than 40 mins at lunchtime when he 'should' have 2.5 hours Will have a look at fb piccies.
J slept ok last night (tbh it's the other 3 that often wake, well dds 2 and 3). I must try and go to bed earlier as I feel shattered even though I slept from 11 to 6, with just one wake-up at about 2.
Hope everyone has a good weekend - weather very gloomy here. No plans as such other than trying to get the washing pile cleared and getting a few things onto ebay!
