Siochfradha · 18/12/2009 15:58

Ooh will you add me in at some stage CantThinkofFunnyName? First baby - don't know what it is.

Fraochsmum - I couldn't think of funny name either and panicked hence irish name I really used to want! Appreciate its a total pain to write. Pronounced "Sheofra". I think some ppl spell it Siofra. Its pretty, no? Couldn't inflict on girl of my own though.

VivClicquot · 18/12/2009 16:10

Hello lovely ladies x

I don't know if you remember me but I was originally a member of the Jan 2010 club until my now DH and I sadly lost our baby in July.

Have been thinking about you all a lot this week and wondering how you've been getting on, as today would have been my last day in the office before going on maternity leave. So I just thought I'd pop in, say hi and wish you all the very best of luck for the coming weeks. Hope you all have fabulous Christmases and a truly joyous new year. Enjoy every moment.

Lots of love and kisses to all, Viv xx

Fibilou · 18/12/2009 16:26

Viv, xxxxxxx

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/12/2009 16:34

Siochfrada - with the list, just copy and paste previous one into new message box, putting the appropriate date for your EDD (ie 1-31) plus your name, location etc....

Viv - that's really lovely of you. Hope you and DH bearing up ok.

OP posts:
quirkychick · 18/12/2009 17:44

Siochfrada welcome!

VivClicquot that's very kind and thoughtful of you.

I had my last hospital appointment today before the pre-op booking. The consultant was very pleased that everything is all ok so far - apparently I have a good tummy to feel . (Was slightly fun getting there in the snow, though luckily wasn't as heavy as forecast). My consultant has put it in writing that I must continue with heparin injections until 6wks post partum which is good as warfarin (the other option) means daily blood tests at the hospital which I recall are a pain with a newborn.

Feeling absolutely shattered now. BIL and SIL coming this weekend, though staying with MIL. My parents are coming on Tues. Really is the last run to Christmas. I have some tidying up/sorting still to do! Baby now 4/5th palpable rather than free had better not come out yet...

Fraochsmum · 18/12/2009 18:24

It really is lovely Siochfradha, never heard that before. Fraoch (pronounced fruach) is my big yellow labradors name and means 'heather'.
Viv, that is very thoughtful of you at a time which must be extremely difficult x

starshaker · 18/12/2009 18:41

Hi not sure if anybody rememebers me but thought id pop on and say good luck with you impending arrivals. Im pregnant again and due aug so fingers crossed.

Anyway GOOD LUCK x

quicky message before I dash out (well a slow waddle but you get my drift!)
Big, huge congrats to WMDO on birth of baby Olivia. Its our no 1 name if we have a girl so I have to say you have made a great choice there !
Good to hear from you missMB - hope things settle down for Thomas soon and you have him home
londonlottie - respect to you on the feeding front. You will get great support over on the BF thread but I have heard people say that Silverette nipple shields supposed to be a lifesaver.
Thanks for your kind messages - things better here and even better now I have finished work. My colleagues spoilt me rotten today which was lovely.
On the peeing front I seem to feel the need to pee every time I stand up as the baby feels like it has squashed my bladder to the size of an egg cup. No tena ladies needed at present but I am sure its only a matter of time. Oh the glamour, the glamour

devotion · 18/12/2009 22:17

Siochfradha - welcome

sazlocks - that feeling of finishing work is lovely and now you can reeeeeeeelax!

I have a serious nesting feeling going on, got out all my stored cot, moses and pram sheets and blankets and washed them along with baby clothes, bibs, bf tops, nursing bra's, sleep bra's etc... feels good!

Went through the girls baby clothes and suddenly thought I will never use all those pretty dresses again if I have a boy. Although I would LOVE a boy, I just love all my little girls clothes. I really think now I am having a boy - so excited! Dh would love a son and it would be lovely to even us out otherwise he said he does not know how he will cope with four girls around him

Waddling around and get pains if I walk too much... just hoping I can hold this baby in for another three weeks - please baby!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, looking forward to hearing birth stories from the new mummies.

maygirl · 18/12/2009 23:33

Not had time to post for ages. Congratulations to the new mummys

Good luck for next August starshaker

I've not seen the midwife for over 6 weeks, but make up for it next week with midwife at GP Monday, hospital visit with senior midwife and hopefully a look at the birth pool, and finalising VBAC birthplan, then consultant Thurs. Bump will be well and truly assessed! I have to demonstrate I can climb in and out of the pool!
Still got a really busy week at work to get through. I feel really guilty, but with work, xmas and DS1 I feel I'm not giving the bump the attention and rest it deserves. DS1's bump was v pampered!

Rant alert! Not feeling v happy with my hospital at the moment. I'd got my head round going back in, after not so great time with DS1, but couple of weeks ago bump was much less active than usual. After much deliberation I rang the unit, thinking they would insist I come in for monitoring, instead got a rude midwife, who said to call back in 3 hrs after counting every movement. Called back 4 hrs later and got another dismissive midwife, asked if I was a first time mum- as if that matters, and suggested I go home, have a cold drink and lie down until my baby moved normally again, and if worried go to GP for doppler . GP would have only been open for another hour. So now worried that despite having a lovely birthplan prepared by the senior midwife, to address my anxieties, I'll be dealing with uncaring staff when it comes to going in

Health visitor came for a home visit this week, so now have a shiny new red book ready for the bump's arrival. Not much else is ready! I'm hoping baby doesn't arrive early, as I've booked a night at our wedding hotel for DHs xmas gift for 9th Jan, will be the first time we'll have left DS for a night and gone away on our own & it will be a long time before we can do it again!!!
I hope DH doesn't expect a repeat of the wedding night though, LOL

Have lovely weekends xx

Hi all-

MM- Thomas will be fine and is gettingthe best care.hopefully home for new years!
Welcome Siochfradha.
Vivclicquot- That is so thoughtful for you to pop into this thread which must be very hard, I pray that the healing continues and that all you desire will be yours in 2010x
to all that know when they are having baby it must be so col to plan down to last detail!
my bro(23) and sis(24) bdays parents alway did them seperate never 2in 1! funny that my bro bday is the 24th Jan - which could be the same day as my baby am convinced he is coming early 3rd baby and pelvis cant take strain!

snow is still down, so im not braving going out at all, although due to go cinema later on, if i can really be bothered! acid reflux spoils my eves and i have to stop eating hours before bed or i feel like im going to throw up!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 19/12/2009 12:10

Ladies - I feel very very sorry for myself today and quite tearful. Feel like my body is being tortured.

  1. As you know, I have a urinary tract infection and am on antibiotics after the UTI causing lots of contractions past week - in and out of hospital etc;
  2. SPD has for some reason decided to re-cripple me in the past few days;
  3. I now appear to have thrush.

TMI ALERT. I say "appear to have" because basically I don't have the horrid itching inside but my labia are sooooooo swollen, literally hanging between my legs and my private area is purple! I cannot put my legs together because of the swollen labia, I am having trouble sitting down because of the swollen labia.... and add to that the fact that having legs apart is pure and utter agony with the SPD.

DH went to the chemist this morning to buy emergency supply of pessaries and canesten cream. Am now hoping it clears bloody quick.

I only have one week 3 days to go until c/s but I just can't believe the extra stuff this pg is throwing at me. Thank god I will be sterilised at the time of the op - I cannot go through this ever again...

Sorry for my rant

OP posts:
maygirl · 19/12/2009 12:27

ctoafn
Sit tight, the week before xmas is always the 'fastest' week of the year, and you'll have your baby soon.

I hope the canesten gets to work quickly.

mistletoekisses · 19/12/2009 12:37

CTFN - when I had thrush at the beginning of this pregnancy, not even the doctor prescribed cream helped clear it. But, diluted tea tree oil applied to the area three times a day did! Please try that if the creams dont help (btw - they do say to avoid the pessaries when preggers, but at this stage am sure it doesnt matter)

to you, I really hope you begin to feel better soon. I had a few very achey days thurs/ fri and last night I took a lovely bath. Totally helped the aches go away, relaxed me and I had the best nights sleep in an age. You can add some tea tree to the water and that will help the thrush also.

Catching up on others posts

Sioch - welcome!

Crumpette - no more work! yay! get your feet up with lots of pampering over Christmas. And get your hospital bag packed!

MMB - to you and baby Thomas. He sounds as though he is getting brilliant care and will be home with you soon, even if not for Christmas! Please keep us updated with his progress.

Ali - no news from you. Hope that both you and little Jacob are doing ok.

Viv - of course we remember you! Thank you for your lovely post and hope that you and your DH are doing ok.

Star - thank you also for your post and congrats on your pregnancy!

Saz - how are things with your DH?

Devotion - it does feel great to get all those things done. I only have a few jobs left before the bub arrives. May get my arse into gear tomorrow.

Maygirl - keep that baby in until the 9th! DH bday is on 3rd Jan, but did his birthday treat (dinner and show in town) early Dec. I knew there was no way I would be making it out early Jan. Am in total hibernation mode!

Mama2b - get the Stokke, you know you want to!

Hello to everyone else, sorry if I have missed anyone off.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 19/12/2009 12:50

Just applied an ice pack to try and reduce the swelling - OMG - I just don't know what pain/discomfort is worse of all the ailments I seem to have! Trouble is I don't even know if it is thrush because i don't have the discharge or the itching inside - it's all external. I just hope it is so that the creams and pessary helps!

OP posts:
CantThinkofFunnyName · 19/12/2009 13:05

MrsJammi - what else could it be, if not thrush? I've seen some other very old threads on here about swollen nether regions and reasons seem to be either thrush, bulging veins or just general pg stuff!

This is both sides of labia so don't think its varicose vein etc - just feels and looks like my insides are about to fall out (TMI)...

OP posts:
quirkychick · 19/12/2009 14:02

CTFN if it is thrush I asked the chemist and they said I could use pessaries but not the applicator no problem. Also, last pg (4yrs ago) doctor told me I could use pessaries and applicator but needed to be careful. So I wouldn't worry. You are more susceptible to thrush when pg.

londonlottie what gorgeous girls, aahhhh... I hope you are getting good bf advice, it can be harder after c-s and also with 2! LaLeche, NCT, Breastfeeding Network all good. As of course is MN! I found it very hard with dd but had lots of good advice and support. You are doing fantastically well with twins.

alibobins · 19/12/2009 17:20

Finally home from hospital with my lovely baby.
Was a quick birth in the end started contracting at 6.40 had baby at 8.04 labour was a bit traumatic but i'll save that for the postnatal thread.
Jacob came to the ward with me but by Sat morning he was struggling to breath and was very cold with low blood sugars they whisked him off to NNU he stayed in high dependancy for 5 nights then moved to low and then home.
Turned out he had a nasty infection and was very poorly possibly caught off me as I developed a temp in labour.
All is well now just got to fatten him up as he now weighs 5lb 7oz.
Off to read thread and catch up

CantThinkofFunnyName · 19/12/2009 17:29

Ali - such fantastic news that you are home with Jacob. So pleased for you.

crumpette · 19/12/2009 18:37

CTFN poor you from the way you have described it, could be a uterine prolapse?? Don't want to worry you it probably isn't but as you're not sure what it is I'd really urge you to [eugh, sorry, you will hate me!] go to hospital and get checked?
