mama2b.... think of the stokke as an investment with excellent resale value?

thegrumpallo · 19/12/2009 19:33

crumpette am so tired; most days I feel that standing up for more than five or so mins is a super power ; standing up AND talking - WOW; how do people do it?!?

ctofn sorry to hear all gone so wrong again. unfortunately i have had the same kind of swelling for many many weeks now; some days worse than others. Think SPD partly responsible. Also this my 3rd pg (yours too??). It's really uncomfortable and even painful. I did have a really bad bout of thrush early on in 2nd trim; that swelling was a walk in park compared to this.

the only thing that really makes some difference is to stay off my feet, and even lie down as much as poss. very frustrating since much to do . in last week or so i think babe has dropped a bit so now have an added 'burning' sensation whenever i get up.

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 19/12/2009 19:43

cant My labia are so distorted I look like some has taken a baseball bat to mine, but no itching etc. I just think its down to the extra weight. I think that, because when I stand or sit its really swollen but when I lie down it goes back to normal, but when stood it really looks hideous, I was going to mention it at mw but when I was examined by reg on Monday she didn't say anything so???
I think some of mine is due to veins but the rest can't be because when I've look with a mirror I can't see any just really swollen bits.

Glad to here the lo are improving all the time, and getting to go home, don't worry marg Thomas will be at home with you soon, get some sleep while you can.

crumpette yay to no work, after what they've put you through you deserve a medal and a rest.

Hope everyone else is having a good saturday, I'm being entertained by my dds (6&7yrs) recreating the strictly come dancing, I swear there will be an eye poked before to long.

quirkychick · 19/12/2009 20:50

ali that is great news. Enjoy your lovely baby for Christmas.

missmb keep strong, your lo is in the best place.

I am also very tired. Some days are awful and just moving off the sofa is a hassle, although felt better today. Yesterday I had 2 1hr naps, and went to bed early. The trouble is I always have in the back of my mind that it could be PE as I felt awful at the end with dd.

crumpette my hospital bag is only sort of packed, I have a list of stuff that I haven't yet put in. Hoping bump will stay put until planned section date then all will be well. Last time, nothing went to plan and was sent as an emergency on 39wk mw visit to hospital and had c-s the next day.

Mama2b5 · 19/12/2009 21:30

hi all

I have noticed a change in my ermmmm body fluid(discharge) when i go to the toilet its slimey looking yuck, i cant remember this before is this odd or quite normal!
Im also feeling really spotty where was this glow they spoke about cos i never got it!
WANTED- Pregnancy glow!!!!!

I have been home alone kids at party with MIL and DH is off filming so have been just chilling and tidying a bit! house is really quiet but nice.

is anyone dressing up for christmas?

bethoo · 19/12/2009 22:11

CTOFN i thought i was the only one with swollen bits! it is not thrush, there is an increased blood flow there that i salso why it is a plummy colour (well mine is) i had not realised how big my bits were til a quick feel then look in mirror (not seen it is rl for months) and i was horrified, no way will i be letting anyone look down there for a while!

lilacpink · 19/12/2009 22:33

It's amazing how often I come on here and feel reassured - I have swollen labia too. Not sore, but just not normal!

I've had BHs most days since week 30, and also had crippling back pains on and off today. Could be a sign, but then again the gripping (some made me cry) period pains I had on the 14th-17th Dec didn't lead to anything. So I don't feel negative about pains that don't lead to anything, I'm preparing myself to have lots of signs and then go over my date!

Anyone else keep feeling like things are really starting to then think it could be weeks?

thegrumpallo · 20/12/2009 00:22

just had to change dd2's (2yrs) nappy ... DNV poor thing. doesn't bode well for the week

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/12/2009 07:02

TheGrumpalo - poor DD - and poor you... hope it clears quickly and doesn't go through the family .

Lilacpink - er, definitely yay to the stop/start thing. Keep a check on your BHs and pains though - might, just might be a UTI like I have/had...

Mistletoe - thank you SOOOO much for the advice re tea tree oil! Having spent all of yesterday in very odd positions on reclining chair to ease discomfort, with ice packs constantly attached , I used some v v cold water with pure tea tree oil on cotton wool last night to "bathe" followed by more oodles of canesten cream and to my delight this morning, whilst everything not back to normal, it is sooooo much better.

To everyone else - very happy to reassure you all through my pain !

Woke at about 5, tossed and turned for a bit and then decided to get up, check MN (definite saddo) and make a start on getting the Sunday lunch ready as have friends around later. Once that's done, will go up and have shower and more "bathing" - was distinctly lazy and smelly yesterday - then will attempt to make gingerbread house and mince pies with DD! Ironing is somewhere on the agenda as well as putting a few more loads of washing on...

9 more days to go til baby and need to keep the chores sorted!!

Ha - let's see just how many of those jobs I get done!!

mistletoekisses · 20/12/2009 08:24

Ali - am so happy to hear from you. Glad you are back home now. DS was only 5lbs 1oz and I managed to fatten him up quite well. I wasnt allowed to let him go longer than 3 hours between feeds, but did that and it worked really well. to you both.

CTFN - am so glad the tea tree oil worked. That stuff is a godsend, works for all sorts of ailments, I always have a bottle in my medicine cupboard. Keep applying it for a few days after the symptoms get better just be safe, since it is totally natural, there is no harm. Try and relax a little today also, dont do too much. Whenever I get to a well rested stage (today), I end up cooking/ ironing/ cleaning and being back at square one the next day.

Mama2b - nappy addict is right on your pushchair thread. I forgot that when the chair is forward facing, it doesnt recline. But then DS faced me for yonks and it wasnt a problem, I hardly ever had it in forward facing mode. Hope you and DH make a decision soon. Re. the resale value; i looked into selling mine a few months ago to get a double instead (couldnt be parted from it in the end) and you can easily recoup 50% of its value...HTH with a decision.
Also re the discharge, increased discharge towards the end is normal (so long as it isnt bloody or smelly or causes discomfort, in which case it should be checked out)

Crumpette - sleeping sounds good.
Have been avoiding daytime naps as have found am sleeping much better at night without them.

Grumpallo - Hope your DD is better soon. There is tons doing the rounds at the moment.

Re the aches down below. I have to say that that is one symptom I am not getting. It sounds sooo uncomfortable, so you ladies have my sympathies. Fingers and toes I dont find out first hand how it is!

I have been drawn into a thread on AIBU re. a debate that has gone down the SAHM/ WOHM route. I always avoid them, but one post drew me in and I had to post. Grrr, note to self, stay away from AIBU!

crumpette · 20/12/2009 09:45

mistletoe...stay away from AIBU!....

CTFN So glad to hear tea tree oil has helped a bit

grumpallo (fab name btw) hope DD2 feels better soon.. metanium may stop her getting sore? hope you don't catch it!

so, today ladies, I have eaten a whole bar of lindt (dark) chocolate for breakfast

[oink]

waddles off to do something constructive..... (find more chocolate...)

Fraochsmum · 20/12/2009 10:56

Oooohh we finally have some snow here! I can't remember it ever snowing so early in our part of the world, Christmas Eve one year though, but is normally well into the new yer.
Lovely to hear about Jacob Ali!
I have had swollen bits for some time now which hasn't given me any problems, but is now getting a bit uncomfy when sleeping on my side. Last night I used an extra pillow for the first time between my knees/thighs, but woke up and thought my waters had gone - I was just really hot though I was also really restless yesterday evening and couldn't sit still - DH is patiently waiting for my nesting phase to kick in, but I don't think even mother nature could overtake my lack of want to clean...He did give me a lovely back and neck massage though
I'm the same mama2b, it was quite noticable earlier on but then went away, but now I'm using pant liners all the time. Mw says it's good though so not concerned.
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday all x

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 20/12/2009 11:53

Happy snowy sunday all.

lilac I was convince this baby would come early, bu then I can see me into January and past my due date, so who knows.

crumpette chocolate sounds like a perfectly reasonable breakfast for a pg lady.

cant glad you felling a bit better.

fraoch your dh sounds lovely.

mistle I always look at AIBU but not dared to post, bit of a coward really

Hope everyone else is ok

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 20/12/2009 11:57

mistletoe does tea tree oil work for bruising/swollen face/lips etc. MY ds 16 was beaten up on thursday night has got up yesterday two black eyes, swollen nose and lips, looks dreadful, or do you think that arnica that everyone was saying for bruising would help more. Any advice welcome.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/12/2009 12:13

SixMincePies - I'd try both tea tree oil and arnica cream tbh. Poor DS. Hope he gets better soon x

OP posts:
Fraochsmum · 20/12/2009 12:29

Oh what a shame sixmincepies, that must be horrible to deal with - hope he gets better soon x
yes my DH is really lovely and does about 90% of the housework - I love cooking and he loves cleaning - win-win!!!

somewhathorrified · 20/12/2009 12:33

Sixmincepies witch hazel is great for bruising externally, really speeds up healing time, also reduces swelling. Tea tree is more of an antiseptic, disinfectant. Arnica is similar to witch Hazel, just way more expensive.

Just had my mw appt...on a sunday, couldn't believe it! No UTI, just baby playing silly buggers mxed with me probabaly not drinking enough fluids. Bubs now 3-4/5ths engaged, whatever that means.

Sorry to hear about labia issues, have to say the only thing I noticed was that at about 5 months it was uncomfortable not wearing pants as they kinda hung down and got in the way...oh the dignity.

Just out of curiosity ho was it that was saying that sperm was better to be taken orally (iykwim) to start things off as you'd need to have straight sex about 15 times to get the same effect...just curious about the science behind it.

Anyway I'm off to pack hospital bag and birthing box or it'll never happen and at 37+1 it's probably best I get off my ass or I'll be in labour screaming, "where the hell did I put that?"

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 20/12/2009 12:36

Thanks cant do I put a few drops of the tea tree oil in warm water and then soak a flannel or something and just put it on his face then apply the cream.

Thanks fraoch we are lucky my dh is great to, loves to cook. He's ventured out to get some dessert for after the big sunday roast he makes every week. yay.

mistletoekisses · 20/12/2009 12:40

I keep posting on that AIBU thread. Must be the hormones as some of the statements on there are making me

Crumpette - love the breakfast!

sixmince - come on! get in there! I love a good AIBU thread!
And what on earth happened to your DS? Is he ok? Defo the arnica for bruising. Get the cream and apply (unless the skin is broken, is it?). Tea tree is more a natural antiseptic - have never used it if skin is cut, so not sure if it would help heal bruised skin.

Fraoch - want some of my nesting instinct? Have run out of things to do.

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 20/12/2009 12:50

Thanks everyone for your advice, He was out with friends, was drunk, went off on own and got jumped. someone phoned ambulance but when they turned up he was agressive because he was drunk and so got himself arrested and in police station all night. He has been referred youth offending team, and wiil get help with any issues, drink anger etc, so something positive has come out of it , hes just come in now from aunties, looks a lot better. Hes not bad or anything its just when hes out with a particulsr friend all common sense seems to go out the window.

Fraochsmum · 20/12/2009 14:08

What a worry for you if it's any consolation I see it in our town all the time. I guess we will all have to deal with the teenage angst when it comes...
Mistletoe - I really could do with some of your nesting abilities actually, I need to clear my office (3rd bedroom) to make way for the nursery, all furniture is assembled though Mind you today I've already cleaned the bathroom, done the weeks ironing, done & hung up a washing, made tattie & leek soup, walked the dogs #1, and am just about to make lasagne and apple crumble for my wee sis arriving tomorrow. All productive, but not baby-orientated!
Mmmmmm, loving the sound of your roast dinner six

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 20/12/2009 14:13

OMG you lot are far to organised for me, trust me my dhs roast is the best, better than any pub/resturant i've been to (but I am biased I suppose).

Thanks for all your concerns over ds.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/12/2009 14:17

Somewhat - I was the one who mentioned about orally taken sperm . It was nearly 7 years ago when I was pg with DD that I read it somewhere (on the internet no doubt written by a male Dr!). Anyway after months of absolute inactivity, I tried it with DH and a few hours later I went into labour. I was 9 days overdue. The science behind it was something about the chemicals being absorbed quicker via the gut than via the cervix ..

OP posts:
Mama2b5 · 20/12/2009 14:17

SixMPSTBS-
thats just awful about your son you said he is 16, my gosh!with everything your goin through you so dont need that i hope you and DH give him a big ermmm talking too, that kind of stress could make you go into early labour! and with thing in the world right now it could of been much worse, alcohol in any young person makes them feel they are untouchable and it gives them this superman complex! Im glad he is only nursing swollen eyes/lips /nose, you should take pictures so he can see what he really looked like the morning after the nite before!

sorry to go on, im just shocked my DD is 15 and i couldnt imagine how i would feel if that was her!

He is ok which is the main thing!

alibobins · 20/12/2009 15:58
