Well found out this morning that I am pg!! 3 weeks and 4 days so pretty early days yet though!

Been trying for a fair while but first month using OPKs so would highly recommend them.

Will introduce myself anyway - dh and I both 26 with a 17 month old ds. Am so excited to be pg again even though it was a bit of a rough ride last time around!

Frizbe · 19/07/2005 09:43

Madrush and Munz, Aikido is strenuous if you do the whole programme, which I'm currently not doing, just gentle exercise for me at the mo, as it were! more like tai chi at present!! (with lots of nice moves to tie people up in knots!!)

Sure there will be lots of middle and end of March people along soon, they're still finding out at the mo, how exciting!

Good luck with the scans ladies, I have my booking in appt tomorrow so will let you know how that goes then. Hardly feeling sick at all today, hurrah!

How's the boss munz?

desperatehousewife · 19/07/2005 10:31

oooops, shame on me, just driven to McD's and bought a breakfast.

oneofeach · 19/07/2005 10:42

Hi Everyone, I have been feeling nauseous but not very much today. I have had Wedding Cake for breakfast - I'm getting into the 'just eat whatever I feel like' mode which can't be good so I'm doing lots of swimming as well. I'm waiting for the midwife to ring me, I'll give her a couple more days and then chase her.

I definitely won't be finding out the sex. I have DS and DD anyway so I really don't mind what I have but for me, the whole birth thing is about the surprise you get at the end of it, I would feel a bit cheated if I already knew.

Hope everyone is feeling fine!

madrush · 19/07/2005 10:56

What about if you think you already know and then it turns out the baby's the opposite gender? That was quite a surprise for us last time!

oneofeach · 19/07/2005 14:43

Well Madrush, that is kind of what happened last time. The midwife who I saw routinely said something about it being a boy due to the heart rate. I was a bit peed off with her having said that although I knew it wasn't a reliable indicator. Anyway, a few months later DD popped out and I was just so shocked. We were dithering about a name for her. I was actually thrilled to think I would have two boys but somehow the shock of having a girl was even more lovely. I think it's a boy this time as I feel the same as I did when I had my DS first time round.

I think if you've absolutely got your heart set on either a boy or a girl then it probably makes sense to find out so that you kind of come to terms with whatever you're having.

RosiePosie · 19/07/2005 15:41

I found out both times before at the 20 week scan and will do again. I have one of each and it makes no difference what we have this time, but I'm very impatient and I just like to know!

The doppler arrived today and I had a little go at lunch time. Well, I've managed to find my pulse! I think it's probably too early to find the baby's, but I shall have another go later when dh is home and the kids are in bed.

Frizbe · 19/07/2005 18:20

I think we'll find out if we can, we have ss and dd, so it really doesn't matter, although ss wants a little bro, so who knows eh!

munz · 19/07/2005 19:52

boss- well today I didn't talk to him and when I did it was only if he spoke to me first and asked a direct question, otehr than that I got on with things he wasn't in all afternoon (went out into the garden at home instead) men I tell u MEN!!!

don't worry I don't think i'll be getting on the scales again - i'll enjoy the fact I haven't put anything on yet cos in about 4/5 weeks i'm sure it will all pile on!

dhw - u were on about pregnancy yoga - did u look into it at all? i'm thinking of doing light swimming again after the 12 week scan, if I go with a firend I know she'll keep me in check as otherwise i'm likely to go mad and do a stupid amount, althou i'm also thinking of an antinatal water class of some sort - not sure if they do those or not?

RP - did u hear the heart beat? i'd be intrested to know, would you get the same result from a stethescope? or would that just be our heart beat not baby's? (sp sory )

friz - good luck for tomorrow hon hope everything goes well, is it just the first midwife apt?

OOE - that's how i'm feeling I wouldn't really mind a girl (as long as this beanie's born healthy I don't really mind that much) but i'd absolutly love a boy really would but DH as I say wants the girls, I fear if we didn't find out and it's a girl I wouldn't want to reject it or something daft if that makes sence or for DH to be the same with the boy - besdie's he's be a tight git saying he want's to buy one wardrobe ful in either blue or pink, not one in white and creams then one in pink or blues (i'm sure we'll have both thou! )

mad - it's proabably a bit early yet for the mid to end of march girls, (i'm sure we will aquire a few more from the TTC threads thou b4 long) - hopefully.

was just thinking as well, if we could add Lexyb as an honery member of this thread as her beanie sadly didn't make it with us.

Rom's back tomorrow so hopefulyl she'll feel confident to come on over to us here. Hope everyone's having a nice evening.

anchovies · 19/07/2005 20:12

Hi everyone

Have been missing for a while as am still being very sick. Feeling dreadful most of the time, particularly at night time which is my usual mumsnet time!

Have had a my first major strop at the hospital, was told I was getting a scan at 8 weeks by my consultant but when I've rang to find out where my appointment is they told me they've got nothing until the middle of August. Was not happy and hormones got the better of me! Having said that it did the trick as am going next week now!

Hope everyones feeling ok. Can't face it now but will read through the thread soon to catch up with everyone!

munz · 19/07/2005 20:21

anchovies - sorry to hear you've been feeling sick hon. hopefully it won't last too long. good luck with your scan next week.

got sent this joke which I thoughtu all might a read of.

Jack goes to the doctor and says "Doc I'm having trouble getting my penis erect, can you help me?"

After a complete examination the doctor tells Jack, "Well the problem with you is that the muscles around the base of your penis are damaged. There's really nothing I can do for you except if you're willing to try an experimental treatment."

Jack asks sadly, "What is this treatment?" "Well," the doctor explains, "what we would do is take the muscles from the trunk of a baby elephant and implant them in your penis."

Jack thinks about it silently then says, "Well the thought of going through life without ever having sex again is too much, lets go for it."

A few weeks after the operation Jack was given the green light to use his improved equipment. He planned a romantic evening for his girl friend and took her to one of the nicest restaurants in the
city. In the middle of dinner he felt a stirring between his legs that continued to the point of being uncomfortable.

To release the pressure Jack unzipped his fly. His penis immediately sprung from his pants, went to the top of the table, grabbed a dinner roll and then returned to his pants.

His girl friend was stunned at first but then said with a sly smile, "That was incredible! Can you do that again?"

Jack replied, "Well, I guess so, but I'm not sure I can fit another dinner roll up my ass!"

majormoo · 19/07/2005 21:39

! sorry I am rubbish with jokes so haven't got a good one to add.

I still don't look in the least bit preggers which I am finding very annoying. Last time people constantly told me I had a really small bump (including my GP) so was paranoid about it the whole way through. Feeling absolutely horrendously tired though.

We won't find out the sex. Didn't last time and loved finding out at the last moment. I'd quite like another girl, though DH would like a boy, but we will be happy either way.

Hope the sickness gets better soon for those of you feeling dreadful

desperatehousewife · 20/07/2005 09:53

good morning everyone. Hope it's a reasonably sunny nice day for you all. I had my first baby in July, so I'm just so glad not to be 9 months pregnant now...phewie!

All the sales are on at the moment and am considering buying some maternity clothes cheaper. Am I mad? Am I tempting fate? Everything I own is too tight...

madrush · 20/07/2005 12:25

Hello all, can't say about the maternity clothes for you dhw, but I'm too paranoid this time around to do any forward planning yet.

Just had a very reassuring appt with my lovely GP. I was expecting a fight for form to go to EPU for a scan at 7 weeks and instead he said, but I can scan you here whenever you like. Did one this morning, after warning that probably too early to see anything and sure enough it's too early to see anything! But isn't that just fantastic? I hope that's a sign that the whole NHS is treating pg women better and not just luck in my area.

I've now got to hold out to 6 or 7 weeks when better chance to see heart beat, knowing that I could get a scan fix just around the corner if I want to.... how am I going to resist? And how many scans do you think I can ask for per week before they get sick of me?

Hope everyone's feeling good, no sickness for me yet, but I'm definitely following the regular eating rule to try to avoid it.

madrush · 20/07/2005 12:26

DHW - have you got a primark or something near you? Maybe you could buy some cheap summer stuff a size or two too big and then you won't feel like you've bought maternity but it'll do the job for a little while?

Frizbe · 20/07/2005 18:04

Good idea re the clothes madrush, and Munz, what a joke

Well I don't feel too sick today which is nice as I had my Booking in Appt at the midwives apparently I'm 8+3, so that makes me due on 27th Feb! I still reckon begining of March, as dd was 5 days late!
She took 4 lots of blood, which seems a lot more than last time, but loads of stuff to check for apparently....and I got loads of bumph to read, lots more of that than last time too, also contained in the bumph were, 1 x sample of marmite, 1 x sample of ovaltine, 1 x sample of skin cream and 1 x sample of comfort conditioner! what a bizarre mix eh!
Next go back to midwife at 16 weeks, and have dating scan booked for mid august at 12 weeks.....oh and according to the surgery scales I weigh more than I thought I did! although MW assured me they weigh heavy...argh!

Cadmum · 20/07/2005 18:38

Frizbe: Glad your appt went well! Even happier that you will be sticking it out with us March chicks eventhough we are not worthy!

My appt with GP was amazing! He fell just short of saint today, in my books. He agreed that an early scan for maternal reassurance was not an unsusual request and promptly filled out a requisition so now I just have to book the appt. (never had to do it myself before...)

I have lost 4 lbs since my appt 12 days ago (PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT FEEL ENVIOUS... I was severely reprimanded and told to eat more frequent little meals as I am a pale shade of green all day long with the nausea...) I happen to envy those of you that can put on weight in the first trimester as it is not a skill I have mastered...

We have never found out the gender of our babies before birth only because they never offer the information in Canada (too many selective terminations apparently ) I will say that I just knew in my heart what they would be and they all have been thus far. I would love to have a girl so that my dd can have a sister. It was quite a shock for her to find that we nearly had twin boys last year because then dd would have had 4 brothers! (Not that she would really care; she is a baby fanatic and adored her baby brother to the point where I had to pry him from her arms to feed him now and then!

expressmummy · 20/07/2005 20:53

hi there everyone
got my app today for my scan 10th aug so i'll be 9+4 by then so hopefully i will get a good picture
three weeks today i cant wait maybe i will stop being so worried but i doubt it
boobs still hurting not as much though and terrible sicky feeling for about four hours in the morning but not actually sick

hope your all feeling well x x x x

Frizbe · 20/07/2005 22:17

Cadmum, what are you like! of course I shall be sticking it out with you guys, we've been together all the way!!

Really glad your appointment went well, see they do care, ahhhhhhh

RosiePosie · 21/07/2005 11:57

I know lots of you are feeling rough too, but can you indulge me and just let me have a little moan. . .

uuurrrrrghhhh! I'm so fed up with having to eat constantly to stop the nausea, but not enjoying eating at all. It's so boring and time consuming and I hate it! I truly think this is the worst part of pregnancy and birth . I could just cry in dispair at how terrible I'm feeling and how I've got weeks and weeks of it to go still. yuk yuk yuk.

Thanks for letting me do that, dh is totally fed up with my whinging!

desperatehousewife · 21/07/2005 12:35

poor you rosieposie. that's grim.

I'm such a loon that I have just done another test to make sure I am preg...suddenly occured to me that the doctor or midwife just took my word for it that I was preg - no test at all. And it would be just my luck if it was my loon like brain playing tricks on my supressing my AF!

With some relief I discovered I am pregnant - I really am (7 whole weeks worth)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mojomummy · 21/07/2005 20:37

Can I join ?

munz · 21/07/2005 21:53

course u can mojo! (he he)

will catch up properly tomorrow girls,

DHW - glad it's not justme then also tested toda (mainly cos my symptoms have really subsided) glad to report threre's still a most definate BFP (the line didn't even get to the end of the test b4 the pos was showing! - YAY!!) i'm also 7 weeks! - YAY!!!

Cadmum · 22/07/2005 02:53

Welcome mojomummy! We would be offended if you didn't join...

RosiePosie: I am sorry that you are feeling so grim... Unfortunately I can relate. The thought of food makes me feel ill but not eating makes me feel ravenous and even more ill. Not much fun at all...

Hope you are feeling a little better today.

munz · 22/07/2005 07:40

dhw - I was thinking of just buying a few bits the next size up, lthou everything's fitting as normal for the minute so i'm not too fussed.

madrush - glad to hear ur dr is v forthcoming and helpful. hope everything goes OK at the scan.

friz - glad ur apt went well as well honney. not long till your scan now.

cadmum - little and often for you then hon, got to keep the weight on you so u just have something

RP - ((hugs))) oh honney, same goes for you thou little and often they recon.

well today the sickness is back with a vengance, last night after swimming I decided to have a chicken kebab - garlic sauce chips the works bit of salad glass of coke - and u know what I had one bit of the chicken and nearly threw it all back up - waste of £5 that was! lol, and at lunch time I really fancied sausage and chips from the chippy and the same thing again 2 mouth fulls and had to chuck it away. shame as well cos my head was sayin - eat it eat it, but tummy was like u dare and it's coming out again! lol. oh well. still waiting to hear from the m/w might ring her next week if she's not rung me as then i'm off on holiday for a week and I really wanted to chat to her b4 I went away. (will be 8 weeks by then anyways)

munz · 22/07/2005 07:45

ooh fria - trying ur idea today about the ginger ale - or at least I sent DH out for that he came back with ginger beer bless him couldn't find the ginger ale (yes in tescos!) will it have the same effect? he got me the diet one as well I think he's tellin me something! he he actually i've cut back on all suger and caffeen so suspect that is.

does anyone know as we have diabeets in our family (both types) on mum's side, does that mean i'm at a greater risk from gestational (sp) diabetes?
