Well found out this morning that I am pg!! 3 weeks and 4 days so pretty early days yet though!

Been trying for a fair while but first month using OPKs so would highly recommend them.

Will introduce myself anyway - dh and I both 26 with a 17 month old ds. Am so excited to be pg again even though it was a bit of a rough ride last time around!

OP posts:

Cadmum · 17/07/2005 21:36

Oneofeach: I know just what you mean about being glad about being sick! I will likely hold off on telling my children as well but as all of my miscarriages have been later (18, 13.5 snd 16.5 weeks) I will break down before they think that I actually have a terminal illness...
With my last pregnancy, I wanted to wait until after the first scan but my DH called me into DS1's bedroom one night where I found DS in tears convinced that I must be really ill because I was constantly racing for the loo and always tired. (Turns out I was expecting twins so that would explain it all really.) My children are slightly older though and they have seen me pregnant 3 other times in the last 4 years so they know what to look for...

Cadmum · 17/07/2005 21:38

Hello Frizbe! Posts crossed there...

I am feeling rather sick but still kind-of crampy and generally worried about not having a 'sticky bean'. Silly, I know but I honestly can't help it...

How are you feeling today?

madrush · 18/07/2005 09:22

Good morning, sorry to hear that many others of you are worry about mc too. Love the sticky bean idea Cadmum - does anybody sell pg glue?

My only real symptom at the mo is sore boobs, so everytime I haven't felt an ache for a while I panic. Crazy isn't it?

Have a good day in the heat everyone. Had to stand up on the train this morning and felt quite faint - but I think that's just me being pathetic in the heat.

desperatehousewife · 18/07/2005 10:06

morning everyone. Cadmum, that is a nightmare about your past mc's. I'm so sorry, it must make pregnancy really scary for you....i feel a right old wimp now worrying for no reason....

Being pregnant is such a bizarre thing isn't it. Otherwise rational, grown up, intelligent women experiencing a slight abberation in their behaviour! I for one have gone totally neurotic and have been feeling all sorts of ridiculous twinges, pains, tiredness and general loon type behaviour!

I keep convincing myself that I must be more preg than I really am, because my clothes are so tight (despite not eating as much as I normally do over the last month)

Got raging hunger though now. Just like last time, it's carbs I want. No, NEED!

I have got to be so careful about what I eat this time round - I'm already a couple of stone over weight and I had pre-eclampsia last time, so need to watch my blood pressure. No stuffing my face full of chocolate and bad things and telling everyone..."it's the baby...it's what it wants!"

madrush · 18/07/2005 11:18

Desperatehousewife, My trousers are tight already and I'm only 4 weeks. But then, maybe they already were tight, but I just don't mind admitting it now. They say it shows quicker with subsequent pgs than the first and I never really toned up again in the tummy region after dd.

desperatehousewife · 18/07/2005 11:33

good point - i never really got rid of the excess weight i put on with DS (who is now 3... !)

Also, to be fair, even before I had him my tummy was never excactly washboard. Humph!

RosiePosie · 18/07/2005 11:34

Hi madrush and welcome, I will add you and anyone else I've missed to the stats shortly.

Cadmum, sending lots of "sticky bean" vibes your way.

I am 8 weeks tommorrow and almost busting out of the size 14's I had just managed to squeeze back into after the birth of my 20 month old dd. I hate the inbetweeny stage. . .too fat for my normal clothes, too small for maternity. The nausea has got worse in the last couple of days, I could barely drag myself from the sofa yesterday, of course now DH is back at work today I have no choice! Oh, and I just bought a doppler from eBay. I've never used one before, but as this is definately my last pregnancy, I am pleasing myself and making the most of it. A bit early, I expect, but I'll keep you posted.

desperatehousewife · 18/07/2005 12:15

oooh rosieposie -do you mind me asking how much you paid for it? I'm thinking what a good idea it is to calm the nerves for the next 8 months!

madrush · 18/07/2005 12:58

That in-betweeny stage is horrible, just feeling uncomfortable and scruffy whatever you wear (not that I'm usually smart anyway ).

I'm also rapidly remembering the unfairness of being supertired at the start when no one knows and you don't get offered seats on transport etc. Mind you a heavily pregnant woman didn't get offered seat on my train this morning either - I was too far away to say anything and everyone was just oblivious.

RP - sure you'll get anything done at all in next 8 months, what with mumsnet and doppler vying for your attention?!

munz · 18/07/2005 13:18

morning girls, hope everyone's oK. OMG i'm so Pd off at my boss - he's just torn a shred off me and basically said stop dictating to me how to run the compnay - WTF - he doens't have a bloody clue how it runs and all i'm ment to be the management accountant so pardon me if I quiree every payment and every bank charge we have etc.. then he goes off onto one about how we're gonnacrack europe this year - WTF yeah right c u there then it ain't gonna happen. I tell u so now i'm sat here at home in tears cryuing about ti all all cos of bloody PG hormones and i've had enough already. so after he tore a shred off me (in front of the new girl and our computer contractor I might add) I told him I was PG to which his responce was well I thought as much no congrats no nothing what a Wer.

Frizbe · 18/07/2005 14:56

Oh Munz {{{Big Hugs}}} honey, bosses can be such arses at times....do I imaging his finances aren't as good as he'd like, and because you were the person reminding him, he got a tad ancy....it really doesn't help being pregnant though, as your hormones are all over the place and you will cry at anything, trust me, I'm a blubbing expert! (my old boss from when I was pregnant with dd, spent a day apologising for making me blub, as he managed to set me off, with just an off the cuff remark, which I took totally the wrong way, normally I'd have given it back... and when I go I can't stop )
Hope you feel better soon hun x

Hi Cadmum, sorry I buggered off sharpish last night, so didn't see your post after mine! glad beanie is sticking around, as they say so far, so good {{Hugs}} pity the healthcare seems a little knak'd over your way tho?

Madrush, Desperatehousewife and Rosiep, I agree with all of you re the clothes, thank goodness its been good weather, and I can squish myself into skirts with nice elasticky waistbands! still have the size 16 jeans, from when I was slimming down after dd though, so looks like I'll be back in those sooner rather than later! roll on proper bumps eh!

Well started off feeling sick here today, but a bacon sarnie at lunch before aikido fixed that...phew re the aikido, twas more like taichi today (cause the Sensi being nice and doing boring things so I don't feel too left out) but boy do my arms and legs ache now!

desperatehousewife · 18/07/2005 15:10

have any of you done pregnancy yoga before? Saw midwife today and she suggested it.
Good even though I'll prob go for a c-section? (isn't a lot of yoga about how to breathe during labour?!)

Booked in for my nuchal scan for end of August.

Feel relieved i'm in the system!

Won't have access to internet for a couple of days - boo hoo. Will miss you all, take lots of care, hang in there all the tiny baby blobs.

Speak soon
DHWx

RosiePosie · 18/07/2005 15:21

DHW, the doppler was about £75 including postage. You can hire them for about £25 a month I think, but I'm sure I shall want it for more than 3 months, so decided to buy. I shall sell it on once I've finished with it. 'twas a bargain anyway as they sell elsewhere for £130.

Frizbe · 18/07/2005 15:22

Yoga no, but I did do aquanatal classes and will again, great for breathing and general relaxing!

madrush · 18/07/2005 19:38

Rosieposie, my missing info is that I'm 31 and had one prev m/c Feb this year. Well done on stats monitor job!

Munz, your boss sounds a complete nightmare - I don't know what I'd do if anyone at work, especially my boss, treated me like that. You must feel really awful about going in tomorrow. Don't take it too hard, clearly a personality (and management) defect on his part! Maybe the rest of the job makes up for it?

Aikido sounds very strenuous Frizbe - not something you took up because pg I assume? I did preg yoga last time around because I'm normally allergic to exercise and thought it was fantastic, even if you're having c-section dhw it's about gently building strength for during pg AND afterwards (making us support weight on hands when 8 months gone to strengthen arms for all the babe carrying to come!). I'd really recommend it. As with all yoga classes (and most other exercise come to think of it) the experience largely depends on whether the teacher is any good, so for pg yoga recommendations are best. Expect I won't do it this time, just because with working and dd (oh and dh of course, he still gets a little bit of attention occasionally) I just don't think I can fit it in.

Going to the GP on Wed and apparently I can do a 7 week appt at epu unit at local hospital for a scan. Thought that was about 5 or 6 weeks, so don't know how I'm going to last to 7.

toothyboy · 18/07/2005 21:16

Hi everyone - it's nice to see we all seem to be in the same boat with our nausea and snug fitting clothes!! I wore a pair of trousers today that I had worn (comfortably) last Monday and they were cutting into my tummy all day!!

Question for you all: who's going to find out the sex of their baby before it's born, and do you have secret (or not so secret) yearnings for a boy or girl? I'm not going to find out this time cos now I've got my little boy I really don't mind!

munz · 19/07/2005 08:46

mornin all, sorry about yesterday's outburst - bloody hormones (grumble, bar humbug!) anyhow,

friz - u're still doing ur aikedo? - v brave of u! lol@bacon sarnie cure!

RP - i'd love to get one as well, where did u get it from? althou I think next door has one so I might pinch hers, how early can u use it and heat the heart beat?

MR - can u just walk into the EPU or do u need an apt? b4 i've had an apt after seeing A&E my dr is reluctant to let me have an early scan as i'm not 'high risk' (even thou had a m/c last cycle at 5 weeks??) lost on me really is!

TB - yes we'll be finding out the sex, mainly cos I really really want boys and DH really really want's girls, so someone will be upset. althou the family thinks we're having twin's so we'll see.

bit of sickiness still but not much clothes all still fit boobs no where nr as sore hormones still there thou weighted again last night and the same thing, no extra weight exactly the same? - have u guys put much on yet?

desperatehousewife · 19/07/2005 08:48

Morning girls. Didn't think i'd be around, but got a sneaky go on the pc!

Toothyboy good question! Yes will definatley find out (did with DS) and would secretly love a girl.

Saw the midwife for the first time yesterday but she wouldn't book me in as she said it was too early (i'm in week 7) she told me to come back when I'm in week 10 .

But she told me my due date would be around March 11th!

Booked for nuchal scan which i'm relieved about.

how is everyone? Is everyone just sledge hammer tired at times during the day?

DHWx

munz · 19/07/2005 08:52

yay DHW we're on the same day!

madrush · 19/07/2005 09:15

Toothyboy, we tried to find out last time and they said couldn't be sure (crossed legs at scan) but thought a boy and dd arrived. I'm sure we'll have another go this time but won't expect it to be true! I always wanted a boy and a girl but now that we have dd I can just see her playing so nicely with a little sis in my head that either would be really wonderful - just want to get that far this time.

Munz - don't apologise, hope your day goes better today. I just have to take form from dr and then make my own appt with them at around 7 weeks. I deliberately rang them before seeing GP in case I have to put up a fight to get it (some rumour that you only get it after 3m/cs). Going tomorrow to GP so will let you know how I get on. If you have an EPU in area, give them a call and ask what their procedure is, maybe then you can educate the dr. Don't be about lack of weight gain so far, bears no relation to anything about how the pg is doing, plenty of time for weight gain later. Personally I think getting on the scales while pg is a bad idea - either makes you anxious if too little gained or miserable if too much!

DHW - did the midwife turn you away nicely or rudely? I can remember first time round feeling like no one really told me what I was meant to do when, but 10 weeks sounds about normal for booking in.

madrush · 19/07/2005 09:16

and how come everyone is due early March, where are all the middlies and ends? If it stays like this, in 34 or so weeks time I could be talking to myself on here while you're all feeding new borns!

desperatehousewife · 19/07/2005 09:24

madrush, i'm sure a lot of people will go over their due date - don't fear!

midwife was very nice to me when she told me to come back in 3 weeks!
