Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

tabbycat congratulations! well done and welcome to Esme! Grr for the retained placenta again. I had this last time and I am more nervous about that than the birth itself . But, what will be will be and before i know it, baby pavlov will be here and i will put it behind me!

So, yes, I am still here. I was alas not labouring away, but did manage to get a nice haircut. Nice, but not actually what i asked for . I had a sense of my waters being imminentantly about to break the entire time! The person washing my hair asked if i wanted the massage chair on while i had my hair washed, and I politely declined, thinking it might cause contractions to start! As it was, the head massage made baby kick like mad! I did not do thorntons as I had enough of sitting by that time.

katster It is so hard to say if they are the real thing or not. Last night I had that exact same thing, for about 2 hours, period pain, tightenings, backache, weighing down on back, back ache lower down, and flew around the place making sure it was all in order, called friend to put her on stand-by and then it all stopped . BUT, with DD, it was also like that, and it continued to get gradually more painful and was actually labour. So it could well be, as it does start like this for lots of people. I will keep me fingers crossed for you but at you jumping the queue!

I am hoping the absence of Hobnob is because she is busy cuddling her baby!

shoesies i like the idea of forfeiting their future pocket money for lateness. That would pay for my hair cut!

tigger32 · 24/11/2009 15:06

oh Kaster sounds like this could be it for you I was in denial too when I was in early labour this time as everyone kept saying how 3rd babies mess about so much, but Henry arrived quite quickly so fingers crossed for you.

shoesies loving your pocket money ides

Laugs thanks for asking, Henry woke every 2 hours last night but did go straight back to sleep after each feed, so not too bad.

hobnob57 · 24/11/2009 15:09

Well Helllooooooo!

Sorry I've been away for a while, but little Isla has been keeping me busy . I haven't read any posts since Sunday, but I hope that you are all well and would like to reassure you that no pregnancy can last forever - not even mine!!

I can't even remember what I last posted, but ended up in hospital for monitoring after my waters broke in the bath on Sunday evening. I was in a foul mood because they only called me in because of my dates and had muttered on the phone about induction, which I failed to see the point of since surely most labours involve waters breaking at some point? Anyway, thankfully it never came to that.

I got put on the monitor and discovered that DD2 was in distress and got whisked through to labour ward at speed with intent for assessment for c-section. To cut a long story short (I'll post fully on the other thread), it turns out I was 8cm dilated (they couldn't understand it since my contractions hadn't been more frequent than 10-20mins apart before waters breaking, and 5-6 mins after that) and by the time I had been given a spinal and was in theatre I was fully dilated so DD2 was born with ventouse to turn her and forceps to yank her out (she was still very high at station '0') at 10 to midnight. 10 mins off being a saggitarius like the rest of us! Does that mean potential conflict in the family? The obsteatrician was a parent from school - a bit odd but kind of reassuring that they would probably take extra care .

We got home yesterday afternoon and have been trying to keep track of texts and phone calls since - oh, and sleep too. So this is me catching up online whilst both DDs are having naps. Isla seems to be feeding well from what I can tell, and the MW was happy to leave seeing her 'till Friday when she'll get weighed and heel pricked, etc.

I'm feeling SO much better than I did after DD's birth - even stitches and episiotomy don't compare to a c-section scar, so my full sympathies lie with those who have that to contend with this time around. Even the birth itself was calm and enjoyable (?!) once the spinal was in. I was so off my face with gas and air with DD1 that I don't remember a lot of it.

SO, I got my VBAC of sorts and am loving having a snuggly baby to look after. DD1 isn't that sure, but will come round eventually I think. Will go and catch up and then post the full details if all is still quiet....

It's worth the wait, you'll see

shoesies · 24/11/2009 15:21

Congratulations tabbycat!

Pavlov I think late fees are the only way to go, although I just got told off by DP for thinking of our baby as "like a library book thats late back"

And katster I do hope this is it for you! My friend said a hot shower with the water directed right on her lower back was really soothing in the early stages and helped a lot with the pain. Keep us posted if you can!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 24/11/2009 15:22

Oh hobnob FINALLY!!! Welcome baby Isla, another lovely name! Fantastic news. Phew for missing the c-section, good for you.

I am feeling a bit {tmi sorry } bulging down below...do you think that means my waters might break? Been feeling like it since last night, but now, it feels an awful lot like something might go 'pop' down there . and DH has taken DD to a friends house on the Moors. On one hand I am thinking he should come back, on the other, he might be just because I think my waters might break.

Oh, and a feeling of de javu too...

shoesies · 24/11/2009 15:22

Oooh and congratulations hobnob

tigger32 · 24/11/2009 15:35

Congratulations hobnob and welcome to baby Isla, well done on vbac.

Pav I felt alot like that for a few days before I went into labour, it may just be the baby really pushing down on your cervix, still its another step closer

katster37 · 24/11/2009 15:37

Hobnob FANTASTIC!!! I have been wondering how you were over the past few days. Gorgeous name too.

Well have spoken to nice midwife, I think this is it, eeek! Contractions now getting quite painful, and every 3- 4 minutes, having to concentrate through them now. DH on his way back, calling off at hopital for a tens machine (have been meaning to go myself ). Feeling very un-me as in quite calm.

No sign of waters though. Pav I think I have that bulgy feeling too

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 24/11/2009 15:39

Oh katster how exciting! I was surprisingly calm with DD. I thought I would go to the wall, but I stayed calm all the way through, i talked to her while she was making her way out, and I only swore once!

You sound like you are doing very well already, keep positive, it is amazing. Keep us posted

skorpion · 24/11/2009 15:40

Oh, congratulations tabbycat and wey-hey hobnob!!! So pleased for you! Both names are beautiful, too.

katster I'm keeping them crossed for you, keep that calm and serenity about. You'll be fine

shoesies I love the idea of late penalty fees, too right! I'm sure your DP wouldn't say that if it was him carrying the baby...

skorpion · 24/11/2009 15:45

pavlov I love the idea of talking to the baby as it's making its way out. Must remember that one and hopefully keep the language not too ripe

Goodness, there's going to be just a few of us kicking around here. I can't wait now to be on the other side. We've put the crib together and the bedding in it, plus two cuddlies waiting. I can just about start to imagine a baby in it

longwayaway · 24/11/2009 15:51

Congrats hobnob!! love the name Isla! Really great to hear that you managed to avoid a section. Isla could actually be a Sagittarius - this website will tell you if you enter the exact date/time/location of her birth.

And katster I am so glad that things are finally picking up for you! It gives me hope that I, too, may one day go into labor

Pav I think you're definitely next in the queue!

Go babies, go

claired21 · 24/11/2009 15:52

Congratulations tabbykat and hobnob!! So pleased to have another two babies here. I wonder what the final boy/girl count will be...

Best of luck to katster and pav - I really hope this is it for you both and we hear from you soon with your own announcements.

Nothing much to report here, (TMI Alert!!) thought I was having a show but it's clear gloopy stuff, not pink tinged, so now I'm not sure. If nothing else it shows that my body is getting ready, hopefully! Just bumped into my neighbour who asked when I'm due and I had a mental block, I was so taken aback. Very strange to think I'm still not used to people asking about my pregnancy when it's so close to being over!

I wonder if this thread will last long enough to close our antenatal thread... fingers crossed everyone!

katster37 · 24/11/2009 15:57

just had major panic that have not felt baby move all day, but he just did a big squirmy thing now, phew!!!

Back ache really unpleasant now. Am doing a weird exercise through each contraction that a MW taught me - stand up, then feet apart eventually lower yourself so that you are squatting by the end of the contraction, it gives you something to think about and really seems to help. apparently it opens your pelvis and is meant to be helpful - worth a try?!

skorpion · 24/11/2009 16:03

katster that's a great tip with the squatting. I think babies tend to go quiet just before the birth but anyway, you felt him now. Is DH back home yet?

Keep us updated as long as you manage, please. So exciting to have a real time labour chat. All the very best!!

longwayaway · 24/11/2009 16:05

Yes yes, keep it up katster! My yoga teacher also recommended a sort of hula-hoop action... but whatever helps is obviously what you should be doing. Go with it!

OP posts:
skorpion · 24/11/2009 16:08

Ooh, good one longway - rotating your hips while sitting on the ball as well. And blow raspberries - like a horse - that's supposed to loosen things up.
Goodness, I hope I remember those when my time comes

skorpion · 24/11/2009 16:11

Where's laugs? She could lead us in a group dance around our laptops

katster37 · 24/11/2009 16:15

DH still not back - problem with the trains at Blackfriars or something I think he has done a runner! am doing that hulahoop thing on the ball, feels really relaxing somehow!

parents driving down from yorkshire after their dinner, have warned them it could go on for days like this!

skorpion · 24/11/2009 16:19

I'm sure he'll make it back soon. You 'sound' like you're doing very well. Stay relaxed.

claired21 · 24/11/2009 16:22

katster I imagine your husband will be a bit frazzled when he gets home! I hope he manages to stay calm. Thanks for the tips on exercises to try during contractions, I hadn't heard of them before but will try to remember when the time comes!

Oh he is getting a London train! I bet he is at the station/on the train bricking it!

It could be like this for days. But...it might not be, you could be holding your baby in your arms by the end of the night

longwayaway · 24/11/2009 16:29

hehe, this is why I told DH I would not be texting/phoning him to tell him I'm in labor if he's out... I don't want him tearing home in a blind panic.

Thanks for the good wishes, secondcoming! glad to hear your overdue baby turned out so well

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 24/11/2009 16:30

Claire - that could still be the mucus plug. It often comes out in bits, and does not always have blood in it. You might find that later on there will be more.

thesecondcoming thank you for your support, and your DD took so long!!!
