I was reading some stuff on the web about optimal fetal positioning and it said that for second and subsequent babies, they don't get into 'position' until the last couple of weeks, so there's plenty of time!

Elf1981 · 26/07/2005 13:46

The kicks I do feel are reallllly low, like Boo's feet are about to pop out any moment!

Scan showed extended breech (think that's where feet are point down rather than bum). Will have to see what midwife says as I think I read somewhere too that first babies get into position earlier (about 32 weeks) than second onwards babies.

Never heard of Group G Nervousmum2be! Sorry. Only ever heard of Group B. Done a quick search on Yahoo but only seemed to find it with reference to kittens! Mind you, when I was exposed to parvo virus, most of the searches I did was for dogs!

Found a little info. I'm terrible with links but here I go...

nervousmum2be · 26/07/2005 18:55

Thanks Elf - that's helped put my mind at rest a bit more, especially as i'm known chronic eczema that seems the likeliest cause. At least it shouldn't cause any harm to Baba

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 26/07/2005 18:59

Thanks girlies..... pleased to know im not odd.... was starting to think babe was gonna be breach...... nice to know theres a while yet before it becomes serious!

mawbroon · 26/07/2005 21:37

Re the breech position. I am quite convinced that mine is going to be lying wrong (no evidence whatsoever, just a feeling). He seems to lie across my bump with his back to the bottom. I can sometimes distinctly feel his head and bum at either side when I prod my bump. All I can say is that he had better move that ass in the next 13 weeks!!

I seem to have ballooned in the last week and a lot of everyday things now involve a lot of puffing and panting. DH doesn't seem to have made the connection between the enormous expanse of my belly and the huffing and puffing and keeps asking what all the puffing and panting is about......... men!!

hester · 26/07/2005 21:48

jessicaandbumpsmummy, I feel most of my kicks/punches at the bottom of my belly. This was true when the baby was breech and still is now she's head-down. Can't explain why, but maybe it's not a definitive sign of breech?

Beginning to feel stretching pains round the bottom of my bump. Time for a belly bra, do you think; or at least some more supportive knickers?

fastasleep · 27/07/2005 11:06

Yikes I missed loads... hope Moomin's DH is doing ok!

I'm feeling really really faint..and I'm having a hormonal 'insect in the front room' saga... I want to go to bed!! I hope you're all ok, must find iron pills..

I get kicks all over! She keeps flipping in the night..

BigBumpBonnie · 27/07/2005 13:02

Hi all. I feel kicks all over bump as well, really hard kicks!! I also get loads under my ribs. No idea what position the baby is at the moment but will find out more at midwife appointment tomorrow.
Had a bit of a bad day yesterday, dh had an operation two weeks ago to remove some metal work from his leg and it's got infected. Sat all afternoon in A&E only for him to be admitted for some intravenous antibiotics so hopefully that'll sort him out. He'll be in there for a few days though which is horrible! I recently passed my driving test and am thankful for that as at least it makes getting up to see him a bit easier. Visiting starts at 2pm so am killing time on here until I can go.

Glad eveyone else seems ago and glad your db sounds slightly better, Moomin.

I feel like we are in the home stretch now so not long to go. Oh, on a lighter note, got my outfit from Funmums.com this morning. Half price and it's great. Definatley worth a look at the moment!!

fastasleep · 27/07/2005 13:46

This is like the sick husband's thread! I hope mine doesn't get anything... I'm feeling totally weird today...maybe I should look for info on ante natal insanity!

fastasleep · 27/07/2005 13:46

Hope everyone's husband is feeling better/ok by the way!

jolovett · 27/07/2005 16:57

Found loads of maternity clothes in the Next sale - brill as none of mine were fitting me anymore.

Has anyone else reached the can't wait to get the babs out now stage yet? I'm 29+5 and getting fed up now. Still got 7 more weddings to film before my maternity leave starts - hope I survive!

Starting parentcraft classes tomorrow night at local hospital. Should be good - if I can stay awake - they're 7-9 which is my prime napping time!

Sitting here looking out the window at rain, typical - I begged my mother to set her pool up cos of the hot weather and it's rained ever since! Maternity bikini ain't having much use as the aquanatel classes I was going to have been cancelled until Sept - gutted. I was really enjoying them.

Ah well - time to cook food again - anyone else can't stop eating? I feel so greedy lately!

morningpaper · 27/07/2005 17:27

Saw midwife today - 30+5 - said I had thrush and she said to be careful when you have intercourse and I said

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA NOT BLOODY LIKELY

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 27/07/2005 17:29

with you there mp... been riddled this time around with thrush, and yes, sex makes it ten times worse! Hence DH only getting it roughly every 6 weeks!

Fed up now.... want bubs out now and ive still got 12 weeks to go!

Jess teething so nightmare days at the moment while DH at work..... roll on 19th August when im rid of her for 10 days!

Elf1981 · 27/07/2005 20:27

29 weeks today. 11 weeks to go.

This isn't just sick husband thread, it's turning to sick relative thread!! Moomin's DB, Bigbumpbonnie's DH and now my gran. My gran was rushed to hospital today and has had a temporary pace maker fitted, will have to see how things go over next few days. Bless her. Mum says I'm not allowed to visit in case I get MRSA or a nasty bug! Dont know too much about my gran so just trying not to dwell on it until I hear more tomorrow afternoon/ evening

Midwife appointment today - things okay in general, but did say that she found traces of blood in my urine
That's what the little stick thing said anyway, but only teeny tiny traces. She thinks I may have an infection coming and if it starts burning / hurting when peeing, must call in. Anybody else had this?!! Thought they only tested for sugar and protein?

Iron levels down to 13 but she is happy with that. Will be tested again at 32/33 weeks so see if they stay relatively high.

As for sex - still doing once or twice a week though having fun finding positions that dont hurt the bump! Though it is dwindling to once a week as I'm getting really tired again, even struggle to stay awake at work.

morningpaper · 27/07/2005 20:37

Well I'm jealous that you're having ANY sex at all!

DH looks like he's found Jo Brand in the bed every time he climbs in ...

BigBumpBonnie · 27/07/2005 20:56

sex??? what's that??? Oh I remember, that's how I got like this in the first place!

Just got back from seeing dh and I'm a little bit concerned about the MRSA thing as well. i don't like touching anything in there and change my clothes and have a good wash when I get home (probably being really stupid!) DH is in his own room as he's got an infection and that was the first thing we said "it's not MRSA is it??" He's been assured it's not and we're hoping they'll let him go either tomorrow or the next day.

Anyway, I know it sounds mean but I'm off to enjoy having the sofa and the remote control to myself for the evening. I'm going to really slob out as there's no-one here to see.

Have a good night everyone and Elf, I do hope your Gran is ok

fastasleep · 28/07/2005 11:33

Aww hope your gran's ok Elf... I couldn't visit my cousin (in law? Lol) when he was in hospital poor little mite because his immune system's compromised, Theo couldn't visit either... weird rules.

I don't have thrush, but I have constant itching down there, like a horrible heat rash, all the skin peels off and it goes raw and then hurts and then it heals a bit and then I wake up absent mindedly scratching at it and then it hurts... no one seems to know/care what it is but I've had it for moooonths... it's scuppering the sex life and swimming entirely!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 28/07/2005 11:34

Anyone else just NOT sleeping at night? Couldnt get comfortable AT ALL last night, did manage to finally drop off tho.

Made up for it this morning when jess had her nap..... an hour on the sofa.... most comfortable place i know at the moment!

fastasleep · 28/07/2005 11:39

We keep having an hour on the sofa in the morning too lol... I've been tossing and turning loads too, seem to be zonked all day to the point of collapse and then as soon as I get in bed I can't sleep and I sit there winding DH up babbling..

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 28/07/2005 12:05

FA - so much like me!!! DH got ratty last night coz i was laying there demanding he came up with a girls name we could stick to! Its been changed so many times that i just want one now!!! BOys name is all sorted, but ive put the pressure on now..... actualyl said "I want a name tomorrow morning... OK!" - hence, i ddint get a name thrown at me this morning!!!

triceratops · 28/07/2005 13:37

I'm sorry to hear about everyones relatives. I think you are more empathic/sypathetic when you are pg because of all the hormones. That is why I can't watch the news - I burst into tears at the sight of those starving children.

I can add myself to the list of the mums to be who can't sleep/feel constantly drowsy, its really annoying because I know once the baby arrives I won't sleep properly for months. And I've got thrush, and I have revolting varicose veins everywhere. I really didn't know that it was possible but you learn new things every day. Getting loads of sex though [smug emoticon] probably because dh knows he won't be getting any for six months after this.

Lexie100 · 28/07/2005 15:35

been really bad at keeping up with thread recently, sorry. Have had a house full of visitors and have moved. I'm completely exhausted. Have had the worst heart burn, nose bleeds, cramps in the night and my kicks are low too (29 weeks). GP said not to worry about baby position yet. Yep kicks really hurt and just walking sometimes is painful. Bump also seems to have doubled in the past two week.

Did manage to go and buy some cot blankets and bits yesterday so feel slightly more in control Still not got cot or pushchair

morningpaper · 28/07/2005 16:17

I woke up at 2.30 am with the most HORRENDOUS braxton-hicks which lasted about 3 minutes, following by me shaking uncontrollably for about 15 minutes and then some diahorrea - bloody hell. Felt like I was about to give birth there and then! DH is away so I was by myself.

Anyway went to see midwife today and she thinks it is a gastric virus - nothing to worry about and baby is fine.

Couldn't believe the pain of the contraction though and I SWEAR if I'd been near any drugs I had been stabbing myself with the epidural needle before you could say 'Birthing pool anyone?' I think you forget that contractions are just pure agony and (personally) I would do anything for the pain to stop.

Argh - 27 hours with dd1 and now I can't handle ONE contraction! I'm DOOMED!!!

Elf1981 · 29/07/2005 07:21

I haven't had any BH yet which I think is a good thing, at least I'm going in with a rosy "it cant be that bad otherwise people would only have one" view of labour!!
Do have terrible pains when I walk though Also now thinking that I have a water infection due to midwife comments at last appointment and bad stabbing pain in my side

My gran has had a heart attack, still in CCU at hospital and poorly, so it's a case of seeing how things go. Will keep you posted.

hope you're all well,

Elf xxxx

fastasleep · 29/07/2005 08:57

I was accosted by one of those 'touch your bumpers' the other day... ... Sophia gave an almighty kick when she took her hand away (2 seconds too late there Soph!) and it knocked the breath out of me, blimey... Sophia likes touchy feely bump ladies less than me!

Also, on the bus, my pants fell down.... I had DS in one arm, bag tucked under the same arm, folded pram in the other, walking off the bus then WOOOSH pants greeted my knees and the bus driver greeted my bottom!! ('So that's how you got pregnant in the first place is it love?')

(Hope that cheered some of you poor not doing very well ones up for a second!)

I'm also going insane, I have to learn to knit, right now...

Hope everybody and their relatives hang on in there xxxx
