Thanks fastasleep. I think the heartrate did go to 185 according to DH who was watching the numbers with interest while I was lying there all strapped up, but then it went back down and stayed at 170ish. Just seems so high!!

Going with my mum on Monday for the scan, as DH is trying to save his holidays for when the baby is here, and would therefore have to have the day off sick and be unpaid. It's only a quick scan then to the trace department for them to check and say it's okay, and my mum is off work (gets back from Cyprus today) so she'll enjoy it. Will have to make sure she doesn't sneakily ask for the sex!

mawbroon - yes on the dreams. My DH had a dream about the birth, says he knows the date, the weight, the sex and everything! Wont tell me though. He is suggesting I finish a lot earlier at work that I have said I would do, so think he's expecting an early baby! I hope the baby isn't early. DH, his bro and sis were all 3 weeks early, I was also about 20 days early, but that puts me in the midsts of a load of other peoples birthdays! Especially DH's nephew, I will honestly keep my legs well and firmly shut that day! I share my birthday with my mum, DH's shares his with my nephew, and we want our baby's to be unique!

I did dream that I had a C section and wasn't convinced the baby was ours, and DH & my mum had gone and named the baby a name I didn't like!

fastasleep · 24/07/2005 14:24

Happy birthday JESS!!!!!! Hooray for jelly!

I have the maddest dreams right now, they all get muddled up together.. I'm sure I've had some anxiety dreams about the birth, but they're all befuddled!

I bet your scan will be fine Elf it's annoying when DH's have to save all their time off though isn't it, mine's the same... can't wait to hear about you seeing your gorgeous little boo!

Hope everyone else is ok

Piggiesmum · 24/07/2005 20:09

Hope the scan goes okay on Monday Elf.

Happy birthday to Jess

I'm getting the crazy dreams too but they're about all sorts of things not just the birth. They're not particularly unpleasant just a bid vivid and mad!.

Does anyone else seem to expand in spurts. I seem to stay pretty much the same size for a couple of weeks, and then have lots of aches and rapidly expand for the next couple (enough for other people to notice too!!) before staying the same again for another two and so on.

fastasleep · 24/07/2005 21:15

I felt myself expand about 4 inches after dinner don't know if that counts as a growth spurt piggie lol.. then again I ate 6 tacos stuffed to the gills, the remainder of the chillie afterwards, a muller rice, half a pack of jaffa cakes...

fastasleep · 24/07/2005 21:16

Argh too late for typing... I had the most unpleasant dreams last night about some kind of weird serial killer (who looked like Robin Williams!!) woke up feeling really diturbed

Piggiesmum · 24/07/2005 21:50

lol fastasleep, thats sounds like my kind of tea. Can't stop eating at the moment. I have to pack myself a small suitcase worth of food to take to work to see me through the day.

nervousmum2be · 24/07/2005 21:58

Piggiesmum - LOL! i do that too. Everyone at work laughs at me and calls it my nosebag.

Got some absolute bargains on maternity wear in the Next sale at Lakeside today - a skirt, a pair of black trousers, and a pretty floaty cotton top all with change from £30!

Stuck at work on a night shift now - grr to being a nurse:-( Roll on maternity leave in 3 weeks time!

Moomin · 24/07/2005 21:59

hi all. have had a VERRRRY stressful few days, db has been very ill abroad and I truely thought he would die at one point. thankfully he seems to be over the worst but it's been emotionally exhausting.
We have our 'freebie' scan tomorrow that dh's sonographer friend is doing in her lunch-hour, so maybe by next time i post we'll know the flavour. off for a bath now to try to relax...

nervousmum2be · 25/07/2005 02:27

Just sitting here at work, trying to keep myself awake, thinking about writing a birth plan. As you all know, i'll probably end up having a C/S due to my previous back problems, so any tips as to what i should include in my plan? All info gratefully received, as obviously i'm new to this malarkey. Thanks x (ps. i can't believe i'll be putting this plan into action in 8-9 weeks time!!! Getting v nervous now!)

BigBumpBonnie · 25/07/2005 09:31

Hi everyone, hope Jess had a great 1st birthday
so sorry you're going through this horrible time Moomin
I'm ok, just having real trouble sleeping . It's only come on the past couple of days, restless leg, terrible heartburn and the baby kicking so hard I nearly fell out of bed last night!! when I finally did manage to drop off I heard cries of 'dummy dummy' from my dds room so had to go and sort her out. If it's not one it's the other and I'm sure it's just a taster of what's to come

This baby really does kick hard though. This is my third pregnancy, the first one with ds I could hardly feel any movements and had to complete kick charts, with dd she moved a bit more but still nothing as active as this little one. Does anyone think you can maybe feel it more in subsequent pregnancies?? (either that or I'm about to give birth to the liveliet baby ever!)

Good luck with your scan Moomin, I've got a midwife apt on Thursday so am looking forward to that if only to hear the heartbeat. think I've got some more blood tests coming up as well. This time I'm going to remember to empty my wee pot in the toilet before I leave the doctors so I don't end up carrying it around with me for days on end

jolovett · 25/07/2005 09:37

Don't mention how close it's coming now - so scary. I think I've decided to skip the giving birth part. JJ can just stay in there. I just can't wait to get that part over with actually. - keep telling myself to block out the pain - it will all be over with soon!

SIL is due in the next couple of weeks and she's having a few niggly pains like last time so don't think it will be long. I can get used to holding a newborn again then in time for mine.

Chose a cot yesterday in Babies R Us and DH bought lush clothes from mothercare including a little blue dressing gown - so cute! Think he's getting really excited now. My excitment has been uncontrollable since the start so it's nice for DH to finally catch up with me.

Hope you're all well.

triceratops · 25/07/2005 09:56

My tummy button has just turned inside out . I am going to have a party to celebrate.

tew · 25/07/2005 10:59

Nearly fained twice on Friday night at dinner for no obvious reason. Haven't felt like that before, either with this pregnancy or my first dd, any ideas what it could be? Really felt very strange.

nervousmum2be · 25/07/2005 14:01

Tew - it could be anaemia. I'd mention it to your M/W next time you see her, as it's worth getting checked out.

Moomin - so sorry to hear about your DB. I hope he's doing ok now.

Feel absolutely huge today (sure i had a growth spurt in the night ), and still have a grotty cold, complete with a rather sexy (or so DP says!) husky voice care of a nasty sore trhroat. I thought it was supposed to be summer time, not cold and flu weather! At least i've finished my stint of night shifts (for now)

nervousmum2be · 25/07/2005 14:04

sorry that should have said 'throat'!

Hope your freebie scan went ok Moomin? Am v - no more scans now till Baba decides to make an appearance. Keep thinking about having a 4D one, but DP said we can't justify the expense. Oh well, not too long to wait now.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 25/07/2005 14:05

Tew.... i was like this last week and ended up at the assesment unit and hey presto im aneamic. Get some Spatone from the chemist and geti t down your neck - great stuff but unfortunately not allowed on prescription. Docs and mw's here wont supply iron tablets because they dont work quick enough, where as Spatone will work within a week. Im feeling so much better already, even after a hectic day yesterday!

tew · 25/07/2005 15:01

Thx for advice, have a growth scan tomorrow, and am seeing the consultant on Wed so will mention it to him then.

Moomin · 25/07/2005 19:03

Lots of news tonight - firstly, db is doing well and his gf said he'd been able to sit in a chair today, which is real progress for him . I spoke to him too and while he's still very uncomfortable, he's not in dreadful unmanageable pain anymore so things are looking up. Hurrah!

Scan - little tike had its legs crossed again today but dh's friend was not to be deterred! She made me go and have a wee so the baby wouldn't be so squashed next to space-hopper-sized bladder, then told me to drink some cold water to wake the baby up. You could almost see the baby's indignance at being rudely awoken! The sonographer wasn't still 100% sure but said at least she couldnt see any recogniseable dangly bits. Then the baby had a wee!!! We aftually saw the wee coming out and the sonographer said that it made her mind up for her (at least 80% anyway) because of the wee's direction and flow!! Looks like another dd!! Dh is chuffed to bits as has always wanted a house full of girls adoring him and I'm just glad we don't have to chuck all our lovely dd clothes out now.

Other thing is though that the placenta still hasn't moved and in the sonographer's opinion is unlikely to as it's posterior, but I'm still going back at 32wks for another scan. Can't believe I'd be so unlucky to have placenta praevia TWICE! I just hope it doesn't lead to the palarva I had last time: admittance to hospital at 34 weeks and section at 37.5 wks. I can't be doing with that, esp now dd needs looking after. Yikes. STill, all the other news is good, so we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.

Elf1981 · 25/07/2005 19:33

Evening all.

Had follow up scan today.

Measured Boo's head, leg, tummy and the measured the amount of fluid in the womb. Then I was sent to wait for what seemed like forever while the assessment unit looked over the scan and the trace results.

Boo's measurments are fine - growing nicely since last scan. Normal amount of fluid. Placenta anterior but not low so a good think. Baby is just a bit on the quiet side!

Still couldnt see if boy or girl (though was determind not to ask anyway), as Boo had legs crossed.

Oh, and at the moment, extended breech position.

Got midwife on Wed (proper skivey week for me at work!) so will get all my blood results and see how that goes. Hopefully not anemic (been very dizzy and faint over past couple of days, esp when been lying down for some time). Does anybody know what average iron levels are? Midwife told me mine last time and said they were over average so good, but not sure what the average level is anyway!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 25/07/2005 19:37

hi elf.... not sure what average iron levels are but i know that if they are over about 15 you;re ok, mine are 9!

Piggiesmum · 25/07/2005 22:29

So sorry to hear your having such a stressful time moomin. Hope your db continues to get better quickly.

Glad to hear all the scans went well today.

Moomin · 26/07/2005 08:42

thanks piggiesmum
Db making good progress: had a little walk today, his gf told me.
Potentially have a nice relaxing day ahead. Dd has gone to childminder's and dh has left strict instructions that the most I do is reach for the remote control and shuffle occasionally into the kitchen for sustinance. Fine by me!
Am trying not to worry about this placenta stuff. As long as I have no bleeding I should be able to get away with not being admitted too soon. Fingers crossed x
Hope everyone else is ok.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 26/07/2005 10:10

Quick question girlies..... where are you feeling your kicks at the moment?!

Im 27+4 and most of my kicks are really low down in my pelvis.... breach baby? Will it turn? I know this is second time around for me, but Jess as always up the top!!!

triceratops · 26/07/2005 10:36

Glad to hear your brother is feeling better Moomin. Fingers crossed that you will manage to stay at home as long as possible and that your placenta shifts up a bit.

If you want your baby to go head down JM you are supposed to do lots of floor cleaning on your hands and knees . I bet you spend ages on your hands and knees anyway with that cute daughter of yours. It is still early days yet though.

I remember spending hours on hands and knees with ds when I was really big as it was the only really comfortable position. I shall have to get knee pads this time around.

nervousmum2be · 26/07/2005 11:29

Just got back from my antenatal appt, Baba is now in breech position. Still, my mw isn't worried yet as i'm only 29+4 weeks.

On a negative note, it turns out that i was told wrongly that i am group B strep positive, and that i'm actually group G strep positive instead! My MW knows nothing about it, and i cannot find any info - any ideas / previuos experience of group G? More importantly, should i be worried?
