sorry that you are aneaemic jm. My SIL who gets anaeimice at the drop of a hat recommends dried apricots, at least six a day as the easiest way to get iron in.

Restless legs sound awful. I don't have any syndromes as such but I am nearly always awake at 4am at the moment for no reason at all. I think it is a cruel joke as in a few months I will not be able to get any sleep again for ages.

I have just spent £130 at blooming marvellous. I bought a pink ballerina cardigan (not for me I hasten to add) and cute shoes

hester · 22/07/2005 11:14

Hi Nbg and thanks for popping in

Well, I'm STILL feeling very tired and nauseous and am beginning to wonder if this is still bug or whether it has segued seamlessly into third trimester morning sickness. Just feeling rough. Was very pleased that I decided to stay home yesterday, though; all I needed was another day stuck in London with bombs going off around me.

Staying at home has given me ample opportunity to watch daytime TV, read celebrity magazines and get my blood pressure up about the nonsense they talk about pregnancy. Like Britney: what's all this stuff about her looking so huge she must be carrying twins? Isn't she due October? Silly woman on GMTV (childless, so far as I know) saying she looks 8 months pregnant. Well, she doesn't to me! To me she looks perfectly normal, if not rather trim..

Then interview with Suzanne Shaw in magazine, talking about how she 'piled on' two stone when pregnant. Isn't two stone perfectly normal? Should the media be talking about this as 'piling on' and offering special diets (in this case, wheat-free) for it?

Then yesterday, the TV coverage of Angelina Jolie's new baby (what a cutie!). Reporter said she fed her a bottle of milk as skilfully 'as if she were her own'. Well excuse me, but she IS her own, as surely through adoption as through birth! And what is so amazing about Angelina Jolie knowing how to give a bottle of milk? She has already got one child, after all, so presumably she's done a few..

Oh dear, I need to get back to work, don't I?

hester · 22/07/2005 11:16

triceratops, presumably the ballerina top and shoes weren't ALL you got for $130?

BigBumpBonnie · 22/07/2005 11:26

gosh hester, you are so spot on. That's exactly what I thought about Britney. I've been comparing her to me and if anything she's smaller!! I couldn't figure out why everyone was speculating on twins either. Is it not the done thing to put on weight when pregnant anymore?? How on earth are you supposed to grow a healthy baby without any weight gain??

Anyway, I'm off to rejoice in my weight gain and have another danish pastry

jolovett · 22/07/2005 11:52

Just came back from ante natel at the hospital - went in at 9.30 and now getting home! Waited ages - don't you hate it when you start thinking you've been forgotten! Loads of people came in after me and went in before me!

Everything is fine again - had some more bloods taken. All the midwifes were fussing over my 3d pics - it's great being able to show JJ off already. Getting me into practice for when the baby albums start!

Feeling a bit knackered now - think I'll go and have a kip.

Take it easy guys - I think we definately have good reasons to know, lugging our big bumps around and all!

mawbroon · 22/07/2005 12:19

Agree with you entirely Hester re the daytime (and other time!) tv. Not just regarding the crap they talk about pregnancy, but the crap they talk and show about life in general. So much so that I am actually thinking about ditching the tv for good and anyway, I have read that under twos should watch zero TV.

It dawned on me the other day that there are so many programmes on now which are showing you how to do stuff that essentially are basic life skills but people have forgotten how to do them - or have never been shown. For example - "You are what you eat" (basic food and nutition), "Bank of Mum and Dad" (basic understanding of finances), "How clean is your house" (basic cleaning skills). I could cook, clean and manage my tuppence ha'penny pocket money long before I left home at 17 and will try my damndest to make sure that my kid(s) learn the same from me.

Am I weird in this day and age of takeaways, credit cards and paying someone else to do your cleaning (I'd be standing over them making sure that they were doing it right!!)???? Or is it just that my diet/finances/housekeeping skills would make for really crap tv?

Rant over for now....

hester · 22/07/2005 12:19

BBB - just had a packet of crisps and two chocolate coconut bites myself

BigBumpBonnie · 22/07/2005 12:26

Ok you lot, I need help!!!!

I've got a christening to go to in a few weeks and trying to sort out something to wear. Bought a really nice dress from ebay which has just turned up. Tried it on and everything was looking promising until I looked in the full length mirror. It's a tiny bit see through and quite clingy (sounds awful but it's not really). Would be fine but my belly button is now the size of a coaster and sticks out. This is clearly visible, also very visible panty line. Not a great look at the best of times but even worse when heavily preggars. Thing is I do like the dress and would like to wear it. I've searched on the internet for some sort of maternity petticoat (like granny used to wear) but can't find anything remotely like it. All I can find is big support knickers which will show.

Anyone got any ideas or will I have to buy another dress???

Donbean · 22/07/2005 12:49

Ok Bonnie here is my advice:

  1. sit down and eat 3 bickies, 2 medium sized cakes and ava a nice cuppa 2)Send dd into the kitchen for more bickies 3)when she comes out with the wrong bickies...blacken her other eye 4)When she "gets the ump" send her to her room for the afternoon
  2. while you brouse catalogs and Ebay leisurely......

Good advice all in all me thinks

shouldnt be here, DH has taken DDS (darling devil son) out for the morning, i should be cleaning....you lead me astray!

BigBumpBonnie · 22/07/2005 12:58

I definately shouldn't be on here. Sat dd in front of the tweenies with a biscuit (anything for a quite life!) while I'm searching for a fetching petticoat on the computer!

BAD Mummy

Elf1981 · 22/07/2005 13:42

Hi all. My Boo must not like Friday's - very limited movement today. Am going to see how it goes this afternoon then possibly phone the hospital and see what they say. Getting very stressed now.

Know what people mean about comments about famous pregnancies. I think Britney looks lovely! Doctors will say that large women can have very little weight gain during pregnancy, but at the end of the day, which celeb is that large to be advised to do so? Anna Friel has just had her baby and is betting that she'll be back to pre pregnancy size in less than 3 months. Very sad I think.

Oh my god, just typing this as I swear Boo has just done a roly poly!

BigBumpBonnie · 22/07/2005 15:14

Elf, glad you felt a nice big movement. I really hate it when the baby doesn't move for a while, it's natural to start getting anxious.

I've scrapped the dress I bought from ebay as have just been on a great website for maternity clothes called Funmums. This weekend everything's half price and for just over £30 I've got a really nice pair of trousers and tunic top for the christening instead. Think I'll put the other dress back on ebay!!

fastasleep · 22/07/2005 15:36

Just popping on, no time, Hester hope the sickness goes!! I got all my mat stuff from funmums

CPT · 22/07/2005 16:51

Hi All Once again long time since I've popped in! Naughty me. Hope you are all really well. I am 26.5wks now. Lady in M&S yesterday said oooh you'll never make it that far - you look immenent! Charming! was with best friend and we had a about how everyone thinks when you are preg they can all comment all the time on how good/bad/big/small etc you are!

Had a bad night last night - no sleep. Mind was racing about all manner of things, baby, london (I work there) baby not moving enough (now fully back to normal and kicking for england!!), home, family etc! Really did not want to come into London today but had to. Am here on Longday - DH is at Lords 4 ashes and so at least we will travel home together and maybe at 8-9pm things are calmer....Hope so.

Getting more ideas together for what to buy etc. Am I the only one who is being scaredy - pants and anxious about getting things too early?!! Think I'll get better after 30wks (keep extending goal posts!)

Well have a lovely weekend all and I WILL do some personals as soon as I can

Love CPTx

Jockey · 22/07/2005 20:01

Hester - totally agree with you about the Britney comments. She doesn't look huge at all from what I've seen. I always put on at least 2.5 stone even though I am small and have had three healthy babies. I thought this was all normal (but not in the world of celebrity, it seems). In fact I don't think I'm putting on the same weight as before and am slightly anxious about it!!! I will have fun catching up as soon as the nausea passes.

CPT - hope that you get home tonight ok.

Elf - here's to more huge movements.

Off to view the funmum web.

morningpaper · 22/07/2005 20:03

Ooooooooooooh I've just been reading some of the post-natal threads of those who have newborns. I'm starting to wonder what we've let ourselves in for. It's like reading the diary of people being tortured...

fastasleep · 22/07/2005 21:35

Lol MP! All I can say is - yes.

But they're soooooo cute!!

morningpaper · 22/07/2005 21:56

I think I must have repressed it all ... or the lack of sleep erased all my memory at the time...

fastasleep · 22/07/2005 22:32

But MP every little gurgle, burp, blink, movement... bowl movement even is utterly adorable until they've done it 300 hundred times ... you'll remember how fantastic it is the second you pop

morningpaper · 22/07/2005 22:41

actually I DO really like babies

It's just that I also like sleep...

Elf1981 · 23/07/2005 19:20

Oh it's quiet on here today!

Been to hospital this afternoon and been on their trace machine thingy. Not very plesant experience but Boo's heartbeat is fine etc, just not moving much. Moved a couple of times during the scan, by prompting of lots of cold water (now have awful tummy ache!). Got a follow up scan on Monday which I was told was general procedure for being on the trace. Will have to see how it goes.
Have popped to Tesco on the way home and have two big cream cakes which I am going to eat to treat Boo and cheer me up.

Elf1981 · 23/07/2005 19:20

Oh and at one point, Boo's heartbeat was going at a staggarding 170 beats! OH MY GAWD!!

fastasleep · 23/07/2005 19:48

Try not worry Elf, Theo's was up to 180 before they did anything to induce me, which was a little bit scary, but he was fine..

I bet you've just got a placid little thing in there... you'll be one of the lucky ones come October!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 24/07/2005 09:05

Morning girls!

Sorry ive not been about much - Jess's birthday today so not much rest here today!

Roll on lunchtime - Jelly!!!

mawbroon · 24/07/2005 12:10

Anyone else had anxiety dreams about the birth yet? I dreamt the other night that I woke up in hospital three days after my baby was born and having no recollection of the event . Things the nurses were telling me made no sense eg they told me that they had to do an emergency CS but there was no wound on my abdomen. They had named the baby for me (obviously not the name that DH and I have chosen) and wouldn't let my DH hold him.

It was HORRIBLE and hopefully not a sign of what's to come!! Any psychologists out there? Wonder what on earth it all means...
