Elf1981 · 21/07/2005 07:26

Ooooh, here's hoping for a better day than yesterday. I couldn't even think straight yesterday and I'm sure my boss thinks I'm stupid as she set me a task yesterday and I couldn't even think what I needed to do. Thing is, it's such a simple task!!

Got slightly upset tummy this morning, hope it calms down before I set off to work.

Starting the nursery on Fri / Sat so very excited.

Has anybody signed onto the SMA website? Looked at the pregnancy calender and was a bit faint when saw how little time there was left!! 28 + 1 today!

Jockey · 21/07/2005 09:29

In that case I daren't look at it Elf!!! With the weather suddenly feeling cooler it's beginning to dawn on me how little time we have left.

Hope your tummy upset clears up ASAP. Must admit, I'm still gagging in the morning even at this late stage... but I see I'm not the only one.

jolovett · 21/07/2005 09:56

Thanks for gushing over my ds guys - I think he's the most gorgeous little thing in the world!

Off to do some shopping today with my nan and mam, but they're taking ages to get ready so goodness knows what time we'll leave! Going to look at the sale in Eddershaws for baby stuff.

hester · 21/07/2005 11:50

But Susi, I am the oldest first-time mum in the world

Woke up early this morning, lying half on my front, half squashed into dp's back. Baby was kicking and fighting like a maniac - struggling for her life, poor little squashed thing! At least I know she has survival instincts!

Moomin · 21/07/2005 12:12

I know this is going to sound soooooo ungrateful and grumpy but I actually shouted at the bump last night - 'oh my GOD, this BLOODY baby!!' as I'd been trying to get to sleep for 2 hours and it had not stopped kicking me for all this time (not to mention all yesterday afternoon as well). On top of this I'm starting to get the Most Annoying Thing In The Whole World (TM) - restless leg syndrome, which has also robbed me of my precious sleep recently.
I can't remember dd being this kicky and fidgety. Do you think it's just the fact that I have NO muscle tone at all any more and can feel every movement, or we've got a livewire on our hands?! Is there a pattern to how lively your baby is in utero compared with when they're born?

Joseyjo · 21/07/2005 15:28

Moomin - i will add my vote to "The Most Annoying Thing In The World". restless leg is KILLING ME!!!!! i can't sit or lie or stand in any position that makes it less irritating and it makes me want to SCREAM!!!

....and calm.....

i can also relate to feeling guilty about wanting the baby to lie still for five minutes. especially when you are full or feeling a bit sick for no reason and you get kicked just in the wrong place. i want baby to be active, but some down time would be nice!

also, my dh went on and on and on last night about how long there is left to go until bubba appears. this does NOT help! i am already feeling like a beached whale and the knowledge that i have got at least 9 weeks left and that i am only going to get bigger is making me a bit miserable. poor hips.

anyway i will stop whining now. my plan for the rest of the afternoon involves "love actually" and my sofa...

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 21/07/2005 15:31

just back from antenatal assessment unit - felt like poo the last 2 days and now im aneamic. why cant any of my pregnancies be straightfoward?!

nervousmum2be · 21/07/2005 17:46

Hi, any of you ladies that are having caesareans like myself may be interested to know that M&S are selling their multi-packs of knickers reduced, at £6 for a pack of 5, 2 packs for a tenner, including the big tummy-button reaching ones recommended post-op to avoid the scar. Needless to say, i've stocked up - at that price, it doesn't matter if they only get worn once then chucked away! Also got a proper bra fitting done, and was horrified to discover i've gone up 3 sizes since my last fitting! No wonder my old bra was feeling a bit tight

fastasleep · 21/07/2005 19:59

I'm sure I'm aneamic...yay more iron pills, I've also started puking again in the mornings and I get indigestion every 5 minutes! Argh!

Moomin my little man made me want to scream 'THAT BLOODY BABY!!' too... he never ever stopped, he kept me awake until 4am sometimes! He is a complete livewire, even now...(sorry! Lol)

I'm cream crackered, done too much this week for me! Oooooh my pelvis!

morningpaper · 21/07/2005 20:21

30 weeks this week and my nesting instict must be kicking in - went to Sainsbury's today and bought a loda of newborn nappies/baby wipes/sudocrem/nappy bags AND a load of Christmas presents for people?!?!!

I think I've done all my shopping now.

shama · 22/07/2005 06:05

Thanks for the info on how the kick feels like.
I am able to experience the kicks everyday. I am in my 27th week. Once DH wanted to feel it and so kept his hand and he got a big kick. DH was so shocked, surprised and happy at the same time. poor thing.

Stretch marks have started appearing all over the tummy. Can we do anything about it now? Or do we have to wait until after delivery?

I also wanted to know how much weight one has to gain during pg to beget a normal weighing baby.

Moomin · 22/07/2005 08:13

Hi shama - glad you're enjoying those kicks! According to the bbc health website, the average weight gain is around 22 - 28lb (10 - 13kg) but I bet if you did a quick survey, mant more women will have gained much more than this, many much less and all still had healthy babies.

As far as strtech marks go, blame your mother! Stretch marks are largely hereditary and occur much deeper than the external layer of skin, so if you're destined to get them, there aren't many creams that could help you avoid them. They will fade when you've had your baby though abd eventually will look like little silvery marks on your tummy. You won't be able to do anything about them now I'm afraid but you could try massaging cocoa butter or other nice moisturiser into them to make the skin softer.

nervousmum2be · 22/07/2005 09:04

29 weeks today

Morning Paper - glad it's not just me! I too have pretty much finished my baby shopping now, so i can just look forward to enjoying my maternity leave when it starts in 3.5 weeks.

Feeling grotty this morning - it's raining outside, and i'm full of cold. Can't even have my trusty Lemsips! Back to Harry Potter and my sofa for the day then, whilst DP fits the new cooker. Have a good day all xx

Nbg · 22/07/2005 09:10

Just wanted to peek my nose in and say hi and congratulations to you all.

My dd was born in Oct 2003 and just reading your last post NM2B got me remembering. Looking forward to Mat leave and laz days with the last Harry Potter book.

I am very daft!
Congrats again everyone
