Hester - I don't have kicks that wake me up or hurt, my placenta is at the front so I get a bit more cushioning. You could look at it that your bubba is very nice to mummy and doesn't want to hurt her too much

Am having one of those days today. Feeling a bit tired and miserable, couldn't decide what I wanted for lunch and have just managed to spill my drink all over me. There's no hope left for me I'm afraid.

Hope you're all doing well!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 19/07/2005 12:48

am i the only one who seems to think there's a hell of a lot of girls on this thread..... come on you little suprises - be boys to bump up the numbers!

BigBumpBonnie · 19/07/2005 13:20

Hester, don't worry about the kicks not being very strong. When I was pg with dd1 she was a really gentle kicker. This one's a little monster. I'd be convinced it was a boy if I hadn't been told otherwise.

You're right there do seem to be lots of girls due on this thread, but you never know.......

I've been trying to eat healthily although am finding it hard. I've just had an apple, some grapes and cherries for my lunch when all I really wanted was a cheese sandwich and a huge packet of crisps! Find I can't manage big meals though as feel sort of full up before I start.

Hearburn's getting quite bad now but it does help if I sleep propped up. JM you have my sympathys about moving. I can't imagine doing anything as strenuous as packing up a house at the moment. Let's hope the hot weather doesn't come back until you're moved!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 19/07/2005 13:22

looks liek we will have the army removals do it all for us anyway.... they did when we moved here! they come in, pack your house up, and unpack it at the other end - bliss!

We are only moving to the other estate because we are entitled to a 3 bed house!

nervousmum2be · 19/07/2005 13:23

Just had my first anti D injection this morning, stung like mad! I get another one to look forward to at 34 weeks...joy!

Anyone else having 'themed' nursery issues? Mine is so full of winnie the pooh stuff (right down to the cot bed, courtesy of MIL), my son will get a complex and probably hate it when he's older! Until that time, Mummy (ie me!) can indulge her favourite disney character upon her unborn child

mawbroon · 19/07/2005 13:24

Hester - I get plenty kicks, but they never hurt or wake me up either. Saying that, I am a very talented sleeper and don't even wake to go for a pee in the night yet. Boy am I in for a shock when baby arrives!!

I have a midwife appointment this afternoon, but expect that it will just be urine, blood pressure, fundal height, heartbeat etc.
DH has just had his paternity leave ok'd at work and it just occurred to me that he has never had to prove to them that he really is going to be a Dad. Wonder if they ever actually check??

Hope you are all well

Elf1981 · 19/07/2005 13:37

Mawbroon - how long is your DH having off work? My DH is taking the standard 2 weeks (I think thats what it is?) and then 2 weeks holiday. Bless him.

Nervousmum2be- we're just in process of decorating our spare room for Boo. We've got a few pieces from the M&P Zeddy and Rhubarb collection, not too much. Got the height chart, the pj case, the musical toy & cot mobile. My mum is itching to buy the boarder and bedding and everything else!

V excited as am picking the paint up for the room on Saturday and then laying the new wooden floor and ordering the cot bed, wardrobe and dresser with changing unit. It's a set from Argos costing £370 but I think thats really reasonable. Esp as FIL is putting some money towards the cot!

Then a week on Sat am going with my mum & DH to buy the pram!

Got just over 12 weeks til due date and am a little nervous!!

BigBumpBonnie · 19/07/2005 14:37

nervousmum2be, I'm rhesus neg as well but have not been offered any anti d injections yet. I am 29 weeks this week. My last pregnancy was with dd who is also rhesus neg so maybe I don't need them. I think i'll ask at my midwife apt next thursday.

I decorated dd1 nursery in winnie the pooh stuff. She had a winnie the pooh musical mobile, musical lullaby light show and a play mat with tigger that played winnie the pooh. I was so sick of hearing the winnie the pooh tune (and I think dd was too!! Thing is I have got everything back out for this baby so will have to live through it all again!

jolovett · 19/07/2005 14:57

Hey guys.

I can't begin to describe to you how amazing the 4d scan was. My little boy is sooooo gorgeous!

He kept yawning all the time - so cute - and we even had a smile out of him.

He is definately a boy - so panic over about getting it wrong.

You can see all our stunning pics of him here:
www.jklproductions.co.uk/jj - may take a while to load as I just stuck all the images on one page.

We've got to stop watching the DVD - we'll be wearing it out if we carry on.

I would recommend it to anyone - it's well worth the money.

Let me know what you think - hope you're all well.

triceratops · 19/07/2005 15:07

Hester, hope you are coping OK. Extra cuddles and chocolate needed today.

We have just started summer holidays and I am finding it difficult having ds around all the time. It has only been two days . We have our own business which is really taking off at the moment so I can't afford any maternity leave (dh is not taking any time off either).

We are thinking of getting a mothers help for the first six months. Dh wanted to get a maternity nurse but I'm not letting anyone else look after my new baby. I would rather they did the housework while I look after my new little girl and work from home. I am being besieged by agencies offering expensive and overqualified people. I would rather get someone slightly more clueless than me so that they are not looking over my shoulder the whole time.

triceratops · 19/07/2005 15:09

Ooooo he is so cute . You must be really proud Jo. He looks truly scrumptious.

mishmash2 · 19/07/2005 15:47

Jolovett - I've just checked out your baby - absolutely gorgeous! How exciting and I so wish I could have one done. We don't want to find out the sex so I have a feeling if we did that it would be rather obvious.... just have to wait another 11 weeks and then see it in the flesh!

I had another scan last week due to the restricted blood flow that I have. Everything is normal and nothing to worry about. It was so lovely to see my bump again and it was moving all over the place. Got some good pics again. Apparently it will weigh 7.25 - 7.5 lbs which is nice to know - but doesn't explain why I've put on so much weight!!! Another scan at 36 weeks to keep me going!

I'm in two minds about maternity nurses too tricertops - haven't sorted anything out yet so most probably have missed the boat anyway!

My MIL bought the first babygrows this w'end - sooooo cute! Am getting v excited.

BigBumpBonnie · 19/07/2005 15:50

Jolovett, those pics are amazing!! He looks gorgeous and I can't believe how clear they are. It must be amazing for you to be able to look at him now whenever you like

SusiS · 19/07/2005 16:41

wow jolovett, the pics are soooo clear!!!!!!

i was thinking about decorating the nursery in a theme, but came off the idea. it'll be quite neutral with lots of accessoires (bright boarders, curtains, pictures, stickers, lampshade) hope it works out like i want it to

Just back from the midwife. Everything fine except showing some sugar in my urine. Had to confess that it was probably due to the 1/2lb bag of liquorice allsorts that I had scoffed 45 mins before. Midwife just laughed and said that it was ok as there was an explanation for it, but said "of course you won't be eating sweets right before coming to the clinic again, will you" We weren't allowed sweets as children, so imagine how I felt getting a row..... Enough to send me into therapy LOL.

Elf - DH is taking 2 weeks off in total but that will be made up of 1 week statutory paternity, 3 days paid paternity (his company are not bad that way) and a couple of days normal holiday. He has been saving up his holidays this year so he will be able to take other time off later in the year. He doesn't want to be home for too long as he knows that me and baby have to get ourselves into a routine.

Jolovett - cute pics!

fastasleep · 19/07/2005 18:12

Ohh wow @ the 4D scan!!! Wow! He's lovely!

Hope you're feeling ok Hester...

Got to go make tea anyway, just got back from Southport, feel like I want to cry, think it must be hormones!

hester · 19/07/2005 19:07

Thanks everyone for being so nice about this difficult day, and for the kicks advice. Really glad you're all there...

jolovett, I'm racing off right now but will be back later to view your little boy. How exciting! Can't wait to see him..

Elf1981 · 20/07/2005 07:34

Mawbroon - my DH has also been saving his holiday's for when the baby comes! I think he's planning to take a few days here and there while I'm on leave before the baby comes (if I manage to not pop before I've said I'm leaving that is!!) and then two weeks afterwards. Then split the rest of his hols over the next few weeks a day here and there. My mum thinks he should have little time off to ensure I don't "rely" on him too much in the day, but it's our first, I really want him to bond with our child (he works very long and exhausting hours) plus I don't know how knackered I'll be after the birth!!

Piggiesmum · 20/07/2005 08:45

Aww jo, your little fella is gorgeous

Jockey · 20/07/2005 09:08

He's beautiful Jolovett! My oldest two were completely fascinated with the pictures too as they've never seen anything like it. Fantastic.

Joseyjo · 20/07/2005 12:48

wicked pictures jovolett!!!
i am happy to report that they look different from mine. i was somewhat suspicious that all babies would look pretty much the same at this point, but if you compare them they look totaly different. both utterly gorgeous obviously.

am feeling very sad today. my bf has lost her baby. the hospital have said that it died at 8 weeks - which was two weeks ago. i think she has got to have a d&c today. it took them about 6 months to get pregnant and i know she is going to be so upset at having to wait and wait for the baby she so desperately wants. as i type this, bubba is kicking for england and making me feel desperately guilty. not that that helps my bf i suppose. anyway, sorry to be depressing. and virtual hugs would be gratefully received.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 20/07/2005 12:50

joseyjo - how strange, my bf also lost her baby yesterday, d&c tomorrow. Its horrible, she was 11 weeks. She has 2 kids already and going through a messy break up so is not suprising after all the stress she is under, but all the same

tew · 20/07/2005 13:44

JoseyJo and Jessicabumpsmummy, very sorry about your friends. JoseyJo, can you please add me to the stats, just haven't been on for a while?

Due 19th Oct, not sure what I'm having, I'm 32, and it's my second baby. First dd will be 13 1/2 months!

Had a bad week. I got mastitis very badly (not even feeding, but imagine it's good news as milk preparing for baby?) and then dd got chicken pox, so now feel knackered! Came back to work today for a rest, hence being on mumsnet!

hester · 20/07/2005 14:32

Oh jolovett, I've now visited your little boy and he really is lovely . What an amazing experience for you...

fastasleep · 20/07/2005 16:50

Aww no, don't feel too guilty...we can't do anything about being pregnant!

Mastitis!? Blimey woman you've got boobs milkier than mine! (Then again this time they're not milky at all and last time they were gushing everywhere lol, weird!)

Hope you're all ok, I'm feeling sort of floaty and blah this week, keep making an arse out of myself..lol
