Hi everyone. Had yet another scan this morning (this must be the 9th!). Confirmed talipes, but everything else looking good. She has grown a lot and is now estimated 960g. they again offered me an amnio, now or at 32 weeks - they said that the survival rates for babies born at 32 weeks is the same as full term, which I found amazing.

Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good. Legs looking a bit dodgy - varicose veins on the way, i reckon. But for my age I think I'm having a really healthy pregnancy.

Piggiesmum · 14/07/2005 09:21

Glad to hear things are loking good Hester.

Old wives tales - I've not had any amusing ones. We are in the middle of decorating/wallpapering and doing lots of reaching uphigh. Was told by someone at work "Make sure you don't reach up too high, the cord could get wrapped round the babies neck" Had me worried for days until i found out it wasan old wives tales. Didn't appreciate that one at all

As for movements, I don't know what he was up to yesterday but he never stopped. Dh was over the moon cos he got to feel loads of kicks all at once. I think he's having a rest now though (baby not dh )

Elf1981 · 14/07/2005 09:36

nervousmum2be - I'm exactly the same. Go ages without movement, then when I'm really wound up and going to phone midwife, get the crap kicked out of me. Just trying to see how far they can push mummy I think!!

Wives tales - not had many thank God. Just the usual "ohh, you're carrying X so you must be having a Y". Mind you, think that people must know not to start with the wives tales with me, they're still winding me up with the "mind the step" "dont carry too much" "are you sure you dont want to sit on the sofa?" sentences which really annoy me, its like they expect me to go from totally independent to back to being a little kid. Mind you, did shopping at Asda the other day and totally knackered myself out, and I think I've pulled a tummy muscle, so maybe DH was right!

Ref leaking boobs - didn't think mine were too bad until got down to business with DH and he pointed it out afterwards. Oh the shame!

fastasleep · 14/07/2005 09:48

I'm actually worried because this time my boobs haven't been leaking, and they leaked for England last time.. I had just finished breastfeeding the month before I got pregnant though, so they could be just used to have milk in. Leaking generally means good things!

Hester glad scan went all right, you sound to be doing great.. I feel about 75 and I'm the baby!

JM I hope you don't get any more scares!

jolovett · 14/07/2005 11:53

Glad everything is ok with you guys having a scary time.

My nan also told me about the stretching thing strangling the baby - told her was a load of rubbish as the midwife at aquanatel makes us do it all the time. She then tried to make out that the midwife didn't know what she was doing. Oh well - I give up!

Hope it cools down tomorrow for the journey up to Birmingham. We're travelling from South Wales so gonna be a while stuck in this heat in a car. I will try and post some pics and video of the scan asap. Just got visions of them turning round and telling me its a girl after all this time thinking it was a boy - don't think JJ will be too pleased at all - perhaps thats what all the kickings about!!!

Well, probably won't post again now till after the scan so wish me good luck!

Joseyjo · 14/07/2005 12:17

good luck jovolett!! i can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.

i have my next scan tomorrow and am about average on the nervous scale. i keep managing to convince myself that baby has stopped growing, but everyone else thinks that i am getting bigger and i am still putting on weight at about 1lb a week, so it is probably be ok. can't wait to be reassured though - assuming all is well.
trying not to hope for any 3d pictures - that way if the sonographer is in a good mood then we will get a nice surprise.

typing one handed while i stuff my face so best go concentrate!

fastasleep · 14/07/2005 12:32

Good luck with the scans...can't wait to see the pics!

mawbroon · 14/07/2005 13:32

No leaky boobs yet.
Weight gain 11lbs
Had the most energy yesterday that I have had for a long time.
Bump kicking like mad - he's even kicking for DH now and will kick back when prodded. That's bump, not DH!
Can still bend down from standing to tie my shoelaces!!

Hope you are all well.

MB

fastasleep · 14/07/2005 13:35

Ooh if we're boasting I got up of my bum on some grass wihtout using my hands! Lol didn't think I could still do that... Sits here eating a whole pack of ginger biscuits

Moomin · 14/07/2005 15:11

just ate two cornettos...
Am at work at the moment, carrying huge fan with me wherever I go and aiming it at my cleavage, ankles, back and all the other places that are vile and sweaty.
My MIL told me that one about the cord round the baby's neck last time I was pg. When I poo-pooed it she looked at me with pity as I clearly had NO idea what I was talking about...
Dh bumped into his sonographer friend at the hospital this week (he's a nurse) and told her about the baby having its legs crossed for the 20 wk scan. She's said she'll do us another one at 28 wks if we like. Yes please! Better not tell spidermama on that scan thread.

fastasleep · 14/07/2005 21:12

I'm totally biased about that scan thread... don't know how people can say they're scare mongering, Theo wouldn't have survived being full term!

I want a fan!

And ooh armed police just raided the house across the street... I live such an interesting life!

Hope you're all doing well and that JM is RESTING!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 14/07/2005 21:13

I am resting..... get off my back woman!!! Had a BAD day today, but getting better the more i sit and chill out!

morningpaper · 14/07/2005 21:14

I had a nassive bowl of ice-cream for tea.

fastasleep · 14/07/2005 21:15

Good for you MP, JM take note - ice cream! I hope you have a better day tomorrow xxx

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 14/07/2005 22:09

ICE CREAM...... missing that...... hmmm...... must get some tomorrow!

hester · 14/07/2005 22:13

I've spent the whole day eating Marks & Spencer sour cherry fruit gums

Have been punished by a loooong (90 minutes) tube journey home - absolutely boiling down there - and now have very swollen feet. Feel like a camel

But otherwise, yes I feel great fastasleep. This is my glory hour - pregnancy seems to really suit me and I feel healthy and attractive. I referred to my age today and a colleague at work said, "I never thought you were anywhere near that old; mind you, maybe that's because you don't have children..." Have vision of myself in a year's time, like a deflated balloon, with my age suddenly catching up with me, like Ursula Andress at the end of 'She' [realises that none of you young 'uns will even know what I'm walking about]. I'd better get over my contempt for pregnancy pervs - soon they might be my only fans

Elf1981 · 15/07/2005 09:54

Had a bad night last night, proper cry baby. Got myself all worked up over nothing and spent 20 minutes sobbing to my poor DH about how stupid I have become becuase I cant even remember to buy butter. Or electric. Or post a letter.
Had to write a list with a zillion things on it that I have to do today. Honestly, I am amazed sometimes that I remember my name!
DH thinks I'm trying to do too much (probably true as I'm sure I've pulled a stomach muscle and it hurts like hell - must phone midwife). So today I'm going to my mum's and chilling out. All this house sitting & cat feeding has been getting to me, at least my sisters are home on Sunday so I dont have to do it from then on. Then mum and dad are back next Sunday so will have to see what pressie they've brought me!!

triceratops · 15/07/2005 10:59

People have started dropping off cute pink sleepysuits already, this girl is going to have a bigger wardrobe than me and she hasn't even been born yet .

triceratops · 15/07/2005 11:00

I hope everyone manages to chill out and feel good this weekend. Send those bumps some happy hormones.

mawbroon · 15/07/2005 13:17

Oh Elf. Hope you are feeling better.

I had a terrible crying for no reason episode on Sunday night just shortly after DH and I went to bed. He was not very supportive and asked how the f**k he was supposed to get any sleep with me lying there snivelling, and I'd had all day to cry and why did I choose to do it when it was time to go to sleep. CHOOSE - FFS.

He apologised the next day and things are back to normal.

It's crap isn't it - but it will all be worth it

fastasleep · 15/07/2005 13:53

I know how you guys are feeling on the crying for no reason and generally going mad front lol; I got to the end of my tether - Theo's going to his Grandparent's from 5 pm today until middayish Sunday! My god, heaven...

I find being pregnant the only time I feel really pretty, DH prefers me too, something about getting a strong feeling to 'look after me' (aww!)...Hester I bet you look gorgeous! I'm glad I'm not there to annoy you by touching your tum

Everybody you have to relax, drink cold drinks and eat sweet food this weekend that's an order!

alterego · 15/07/2005 13:58

Just checking in as have been without PC for a while. 27 weeks today.

Ds2's last day of term today and one of the mums said "good luck with the baby" - so had to tell her it's not due until October . Another friend has just had her baby - 1 hour labour and although perhaps not so much of the as would worry about getting midwife and dh (in that order) in place.

Have put down for a homebirth.

Very puffy ankles, a bit of dizziness and general washed out feeling, but otherwise fine. Can't wait for it all to be over though - really find being pg quite a chore. 3 months to go .....

fastasleep · 15/07/2005 14:01

Yay for joining the homebirthing club...I wonder how many of us will actually get to do it!

I had a one hour labour (bet I won't this time)

alterego · 15/07/2005 14:05

My ds2 was 2 3/4 hours from when I first woke up to delivery. And only decided this was definitely d-day 1 hour after waking up. Which is mainly why I want hb as the worst part of the last delivery was the car journey to hospital and trying to sort out ds1.

fastasleep · 15/07/2005 14:07

Lol yeah my GP midwife thinks it's pointless trying to get me to hospital... hopefully it'll be more relaxed at home
