hester - maybe you've got a mini-mozart on your hands!

hester · 10/07/2005 11:20

Or a little thugette

Elf1981 · 10/07/2005 11:23

Cheers Moomin. I think their flight went about 9:00 ish so would have heard if they'd been delayed / missed it. Know what you mean about high alert at the mo - bomb scare last night in my city closed a couple of roads. Last week there was a bomb scare in the building next to ours, we weren't evacuated but police did do controlled explosion. Think if it happens again over the next week or so, we'll be evacuated rather than just being told to close the blinds "just in case"!

Hester - not pregnancy insanity, I'm sure my Boo does this. I find it reassuring. I pat my tummy and get a kick back in the same position! Til, like you said, they get bored!

fastasleep · 10/07/2005 11:30

Hester I refuse to go to the college of daughter torturing...argh! My hormones played up and every little weird thing they did (and they do a lot) got right on my nerves! The half hour long 'Are you sure you don't want an ice cream? Just because I said I didn't want one...are you sure you won't have one? I think you should have one, are you sure?' I was at the point of smacking one of them, and that was them being nice!...

Ooh Theo followed DH round my belly, he followed light too... if you have one of those little skinny torches (DH has one from when he was a medic) you should try shining a concentrated speck of light and see if she comes for a poke! Sophia's stubborn though and just kicks randomly

Aww Moomin, at least you're seeing an osteopath, I hope it helps! I don't know how any of you guys can survive work, I can barely stay awake to watch Theo!

I just got said Theo down for a nap anyway so I'm off to attempt cleaning while DH does the gardens (ooh get us!)

Hope you're all keeping cool and relaxing!

hester · 10/07/2005 11:38

fastasleep, I know my hormones are in overdrive because I felt myself get all hot and irritated at YOUR mother

Poor you; just keep cool and try to think serene thoughts!

So nice to hear of other babies playing tag. Dp swears that a lot of similar games go on in the night, when I'm asleep (I am SUCH a heavy sleeper; can't believe I just snore serenely though those first mother-baby bonding moments!)

fastasleep · 10/07/2005 12:55

Lol I've done things to DH in the night, he sleeps heavily too...evil cackle! I hope your DP isn't naughty like me!

I'm just waiting now for the inevitable phone call which will mainly entail 'DH wouldn't eat any of my quiche at the picnic or a sandwhich and he went to the shop to buy a drink instead of drinking the ones we brought, and nobody said anything about how good my food was - I'm mortally offended...' she always insists on forcing me to drink lucozade when I'm pregnant, it's really bizarre and I'm sure it's not so good for little Sophia! I could go on about how annoying they were all day!! (And she didn't even call me fat or a satanist (don't ask!) or a slut or anything for once lol)

hester · 10/07/2005 13:00

My mother once told me I was both too old and too immature to have a baby

lol @ compulsory Lucozade - can't you tell her it's forbidden by your mw in case it tips you into gestational diabetes?

A slut AND a satanist? You sound like a good mate to have at a party!

novadandypowder · 10/07/2005 13:34

Hester - according to practical parenting magazine this month (yes i am indeed tragic) you can train the baby to kick by placing your hand on bump and saying 'kick' 'kick'.

Agree that fastasleep sounds like perfect party guest

Jockey · 10/07/2005 13:38

Not read all the posts yet as having a hectic day (dd1's birthday) but please don't mention mothers. Mine's been here since 11am and showing no signs of moving on!!! She said, "Oh dear, did you give all your maternity clothes away?". I AM wearing maternity clothes. Do they really look that tight/tacky?

Hope all is well with everyone.

fastasleep · 10/07/2005 15:32

Awww Jockey you have my sympathy! I'm not as interesting as my mum makes out lol honest...

LOL @ foetus training!

I think I'll always be too immature to have kids in most people's opinions...

Piggiesmum · 10/07/2005 17:32

Glad to hear our Londoners are okay.

Fastasleep your mum sounds a bit of a nightmare. It's far too hot to be dealing with mothers this weekend.

I've been trying to do some gardening but it's just too hot so i'm collapsed inside watching my bump change shape all over the place.

I'll have to practice poking and totch shining later.

triceratops · 10/07/2005 19:02

I think I believed all that stuff about the foetus kicking on purpose last time until ds was born. He was completely unresponsive to anything but my boob for at least the first month and couldn't even wave his arm or leg on purpose let alone kick at a particular spot . Perhaps it is a magical skill which is lost at birth.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 10/07/2005 19:27

Tell me..... Do BH's hurt?! HAd about 4 in the last hour and my god it hurt!!!

Moomin · 10/07/2005 21:01

they don't hurt me as such, I just find them a bit weird and uncomfortable. they remind of the feeling you get when you wake up and know you're just about to have leg cramps and you manage to see them off by stretching or massaging your leg. not nice!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 10/07/2005 21:07

im ok now... all worn off - scared for a minute there tho!!!

fastasleep · 10/07/2005 22:51

Apparently the BH hurt lots in second pregnancies... I've had a few that have made me gasp and sit down but nothing actually painful... (I can't wait!) bet it was worrying!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 10/07/2005 22:52

Beanie is not allowed to pop yet!!!

Had a few since but not painful, so hoping it may have been a one (actually 5) off!

fastasleep · 10/07/2005 22:57

Don't worry JM! Lockets said hers hurt looooads... I'm sure you'll know if they turn into contractions (they won't!!) xxx

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 10/07/2005 22:57

thats ok then..... just worried because it honestly felt like the early contractions i had with jess, and they were enough for me to have an epidural!!!

mawbroon · 10/07/2005 23:04

No BH for me yet. How long have you guys been getting them? I am a wee bit behind you at 24+4.

Knackered today after doing my last ever gig last night with the ceilidh band that I play with. I didn't get to bed until 2am That's like four hours after my normal bedtime!!

Nothing much to report on the bump front. I still keep forgetting that I am pregnant, especially if I am wearing a baggy t shirt and my bump is not in my line of vision. I am going to the doc tomorrow to see if I can get something for my hayfever. I just can't do any weeding in the garden without having a sneezing/wheezing/coughing fit.

fastasleep · 11/07/2005 07:58

I'm with you on the sneezing Mawbroon! I've been getting BH since about 18 weeks (which is really weird) I didn't feel them at all with Theo! Sometimes I don't have one that I feel for weeks, they're very random...

Hope you're all doing ok... I just had a yell at Theo for waking me up at 6:30 and then headbutting me in the eye really hard when I tried to get him into our bed.... I feel bad now!

fastasleep · 11/07/2005 11:26

I feel ill it's too hot Theo keeps tricking me into going to bed and then wakes up 10 minutes later... beginning to feel really vomity with the heat too... Was thinking of going to the park, but now thinking we might just visit the back garden!

Paddysmum · 11/07/2005 11:45

Hi. With you on the heat fastasleep. I am in work (finish next Friday - YIPPEE! The only things getting me through are a massive fan trained on me, a mini fan and a can of magicool! I am 31 weeks on Wednesday and although I have been feeling a lot of movement from my lively baby since 16 weeks I am yet to see a foot or hand protrude from my bump! When have other mums found that they were generally able to idenrify body parts?!

Piggiesmum · 11/07/2005 11:46

i wouldn't have the energy to go any further than the back garden.

Has anyone got one of those gigantic paddling pool things. I could just do with one right now. I'd blow the lilo up and loatd around on top of it. Shame our tiny garden is too small to fit one it.

Piggiesmum · 11/07/2005 11:47

oops that "float" around
