I'm glad you said that about the baking as I was psyching myself up to bake some Tweenie cakes - a really stupid thing to do when ds is tired out. It has ended in tears so many times - he always wants to decorate them while they're still in the oven. Those people on CBeebies don't have ratty toddlers to deal with when they're showing us all these lovely activities!!! So instead have put him to bed & we will then go for a little walk!

fastasleep · 05/07/2005 18:46

Aww I went to bed for a nap and left Theo in his room to play... I hid my head under two pillows and the duvet.. when I went back in to get him he was underneath his cot whimpering to his teddy

I was only half an hour... but still!

Moomin · 05/07/2005 20:06

bugger! forgot to ask my gp what the heartbeat was again today. Is it written on my notes anywhere? I'm so thick - he even asked me if we knew the sex as he was listening to the heartbeat - wonder if he was dropping hints?

btw, dd spilt milk on my pg notes in their plastic envelope about 2 weeks ago and I only dug them out again today. Milk has turned to rancid yoghurt/cheese-type concoction and even though I've swapped the plastic wallet, the notes still stink to high heaven. My gp said he nearly gagged when he got them out today! Good job the morning sickness has gone now - bleuch!

fastasleep · 05/07/2005 20:10

I thought it was just me who did things like that Moomin! I left a banana in the bottom of the bag on mine lol... yum.

It should be written in your notes, in the pink section if it's like mine... just have a good flip through till you find lots of scribbly writing..

Moomin · 05/07/2005 21:11

so if I can be bothered to go downstairs, face the mingingness of the smell and look.... what am I looking for? what's the (going!) rate for a boy's / girl's heartbeat?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 05/07/2005 21:12

looking for a 3 digit number between approx 120-160.... jess was always 150's this one is usually 130's

Moomin · 05/07/2005 21:14

is a boy's higher or lower than a girl's? higher i guess if it's more like a train than a horse?! I don't even know what the 'average' is to measure whether it's high or low.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 05/07/2005 21:25

i dont know because i dont know what im having, but jess's was always high, and this one is low - so praying its a boy!

Moomin · 05/07/2005 21:57

[holds breath while consulting notes] All it says for fetal heartbeat is YES. So it's got one but we don't know how fast or slow it's going! Oh well. Personally I think the sound today was more solid, like the clip clop rather than racing, but I think that might just be wishful thinking...

Piggiesmum · 05/07/2005 22:07

Well this one's a boy and the heartbeat today was 140. Dunno i that helps anyone. I think it was more of a clip clop sound but to be honest didn't take that much notice, just too busy enjoying hearing it

Elf1981 · 06/07/2005 09:07

Girls heart beats are faster, from what I was told. DH's step sister didn't know sex of baby, but midwife told her that based on heart beat rate, it was a girl as quite high. Not sure if the theory is true though she did have a girl!
My notes about heart beat never say rate, just whether it was heard, so I think it's true that nobody wants me to find out the sex of the baby until they're born!!
Very tired this morning and had the most unhealthy breakfast - Bacon and Egg McMuffin. At work now, half asleep, feeling all kooky for some reason. Midwife tomorrow, see how things are. Cant help but be panicking that there is a problem that I don't know about yet.

fastasleep · 06/07/2005 09:25

My god I just woke up.. Theo's nappy's going to explode and he's been galavanting around our room destroying it for hours!! Oh dear I'm so zonked.. wah

fastasleep · 06/07/2005 09:26

Elf I feel kooky too, I bet you're fine think of it as having a tape worm type parasite - you're going to feel pretty yucky!

jolovett · 06/07/2005 09:34

Went out for anniversary last night - sure i had a bh when we were walking home, bump went really hard and I had a very painful tighning feeling across my bump! My chest went quite tight and couldn't take a deep breath. Is this a bh or should it be something to worry about?

Apart from that had v romantic meal in our fav restaurant and had a lovely evening reminising our wedding day.

Had an email this morning telling me its the final week of the second trimester for me - very scary - I have to finish my house!!!!!

Hope you all well. Oh by the way had a bargain on a baby monitor on ebay - the BT Digital Plus one, brand new or £60 instead of the £80-£100 the shops are charging. Heard it's a good one - anyone got one or know if they're any good?

SusiS · 06/07/2005 10:42

I don't want to crow but I have been feeling pretty good. I remember this from last time. I have been all sort of loved up and chilled out but completely scatty at the same time. It is a lot less embarassing now I am not working.

I love baking with my ds, we like to decorate rich tea biscuits while the cakes are in the oven and then I throw them away while he is not looking. He loves doing the icing but I don't like him eating it. We eat the cakes plain.

mawbroon · 06/07/2005 13:35

Afternoon all.

Sitting here in the office in the middle of Edinburgh unable to concentrate as I am really worried about getting home. (30 min train journey). There are police helicopters overhead and I heard sirens earlier on because of all the crap surrounding the G8 summit. I have to try to negociate whatever riots are going on outside to get to the train station. Our Live8 concert is tonight and I think that there is going to be trouble before then. Half the roads in Central Scotland are closed because of all these bloody idiots protesting. They were lying on the motorway this morning. Run them over I say....
I'm all for people having their say, but when they behave like morons I get very annoyed.

Rant over - nothing to report on bump front, just having a moan.

Trice: We also do lots of cooking but I let dd eat sugar from the bag. She is getting a bit chubby... must be stricter...

Made two batches of scones today mmmmm! Have eaten most of them myself.

Went to midwife today and had routine bloods taken while dd held me hand and gave me kisses. Then when I nearly passed out the midwife had a huge row with the receptionists because they have a new policy of not giving people glasses of water!!! FFS!!!! So the midwife stomped in, grabbed a glass, filled it and handed it to me. Such excitement!

fastasleep · 06/07/2005 17:08

Aww mawbroon! Edinburgh and being pregnant today just don't mix do they...hope you're getting home ok!

Happy anniversary Jo! Hopefully I'll get to go out for dinner next weekend ! It may end up being pizza hut or something but still

Triceratops I'm glad you're feeling great I go through stages of extreme exhaustion and then scatty hyperactivity

I can see elbows and feet and hands poking out now too, it's brill telling people about it, especially non-mums..they go all pale!

Hope the rest of you guys are doing well

morningpaper · 06/07/2005 17:10

Ooh yes I've been feeling a few joints sticking out too! I think they are wrists or elbows. Makes me a bit squeamish!

Good luck Mawbroon! xxx

Joseyjo · 06/07/2005 17:52

i think i am officially over the blooming bit as well... i have started being really tired again and had to have a nap today! supposed to be 20 minutes but ended up being an hour - i was working from home and my boss rang me and woke me up! there was no way i could disguise the fact that i was all croaky from being asleep. fortunately he thought it was funny...
i am supposed to be going to aqua-aerobics tonight but my pg buddy is not going so i am tempted to wuss out. according to my pg calendar i am not in the 3rd trimester until next week (28) so surely i should get to enjoy the blooming bit for a bit longer?!!!!! oh well, serious weight gain and back ache here we come... don't get me wrong, i still love being pregnant but i was soooo enjoying not being tired.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 06/07/2005 17:55

Hark at you lot "blooming phase" - i didnt have it!!!! Stil lwaiting!!!

Joseyjo · 06/07/2005 18:23

sorry j&bmummy - didn't mean to sound like i was gloating!!! i was soooooo tired in my last pg so i have had really enjoyed being a bit more active and human feeling this time round. still, it was never going to last!

Elf1981 · 06/07/2005 18:25

Must admit, my blooming phase didn't last long. Blink and missed it I think. Every day this week have taken an hours nap in the afternoon. Something to do with the not sleeping so good at night!!

Ref making people go slightly pale at stories on pregnancy - I work in a very small office, only four of us. Of the three women, one is already a mum, and me and the other girl are both pregnant. The fourth person is male and we've all enjoyed "enlightening" him to pregnancy!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 06/07/2005 18:29

didnt bloom with jess either - was really ill through my pg last time, so quite lucky i guess that i have felt NORMAL, just wish i had bloomed!!!

Off to town tomorrow with Jess to get some 1st birthday bits for her.... my "baby" is nearly 1!!!!
