I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

NichyNoo · 15/12/2009 09:41

tiany - yes to the discharge! The thing is that I can feel it coming out (eeuww) and get paranoid it is blood so keep running to the toilet to check

Boobs are still sore...am also losing weight as have gone off food and not drinking alcohol. I am a size 10 so don't really want to lose too much.

Ah well...one more day down. That means I'm one more day closer to my scan on 19th Jan and am now 6+3

vix206 · 15/12/2009 10:03

Hello to all the new ladies!

I am also a first-timer, and I'm not getting many symptoms. My boobs are still heavy, sore and often itchy... I feel hungrier than usual and faint when hungry, y sleep pattern is screwed - I wake up at around 4 every morning and can't get back to sleep so I am exhausted...but aside from that I am fairly symptom free.

I am looking forward to mid January when I can go to see a midwife. One thing I am confused about though is how you get your free dental treatment. I have a check-up just after xmas (and before I see the midwife) and as I'm preggers I shouldn't have to pay for it. Will they just take my word for it? When I rang the docs they wouldn't see me, said there was no need for me to see a doctor and that I had to wait until i was at least 8 weeks and then see a midwife??

Also isheisnthe, my period is a 27/28 day cycle and my last one started 15th November and so I am 4 weeks, EDD 22nd August. I think the NHS website must be confused!

vix206 · 15/12/2009 10:04

ps just read my post - when I said 'faint when hungry' I meant I FEEL faint when hungry! I'm not actually fainting

vix206 · 15/12/2009 10:44

eurgh, I just got my very first episode of sickness. God it comes over you so quickly doesn't it?? One minute I was fine, next minute I thought I was going to have to sprint to the ladies toilet! Came over me like a wave. Hope that it doesn't happen too much today I'm mega-busy at work!

bouncingblueberries · 15/12/2009 10:54

tiany and nichynoo - me too! Yesterday it was almost like ewcm! What's that all about?? It's turning me into an obsessive knicker checker.

Not much sickness over the weekend, so got a bit paranoid, but then yesterday was pretty rough on the nausea front. Today is shaping up to be much the same, but I'm not complaining.

Still totally knackered but today is my last day at work before we head home to Scotland for Christmas - hurrah!

Just got to get through today ad my work christmas party tomorrow night, then I can relax.

7 + 1 today, slowly, slowly day-by-day, getting closer to double figures.

Welcome to all the new ladies!

Vino good luck for tomorrow - let us know how you get on!

bigmuther65 · 15/12/2009 11:31

VinocollapsoI love to go swimming, but it really makes my boobs hurt if water is slightly cold. Also agree with you about the marmite all ways feel better after i have had my marmite on toast in morning funny thing is though hated it before i became pregnant.
Welcome to all the new comers
Going to try and get my bum in gear and take the dogs for a good walk today, feel so exhausted not helped by having to get up for wee every 2 hrs in night.Don,t have to go back to work now till Jan6th so looking forward to a bit more rest.

driedapricots · 15/12/2009 11:50

hi, i'm new on here. Am 6 + 2 (i think..lost track already) It is going very slowly, these first 12 weeks are such an anxious time.
I am feeling v sick and dizzy already too. I have a DD (almost 2) who wakes very early every day and am struggling with the early symptons which typically seem much worse this time round.
Is anyone else 2nd timer with DH who doesn't seem quite as excited as first time?!!
Re the dentist - i think it depends if they know you, mine just took my word for it last time - some will want the MATB1 form you get..which is annoying as you dont get that until about 20 weeks i seem to recall (also need it to prove for upgrade for a first class seat on trains!) Maybe just postphone for a while if its just a check-up..?
Also anyone else on here a 2nd timer wanting a c-sect? My first labour ended in emergency c-sect and i want a planned one this time, what are the chances i'll be allowed?!
thanks ladies

Aussieng · 15/12/2009 12:48

Hi everyone. Haven't made it on here for a few days because I just been feeling so ill and the sickness and exhaustion has just been getting me down. I've even had to take time off work. The thought of feeling this was for another 4 weeks has been really sapping all of the joy out of being pg and I don't think I'm ever going to want to have sex again. Then I logged on and caught up and am just so sorry for PDR, Muser and Scotch who have left us and now I just feel selfish as well as sickly and exhausted and old

Hello to the newcomers - sorry (to everyone) to be so miserable - I think it is harder trying to keep the whole thing a secret in RL - so any funny stories gratefully received atm

Crazycatlady · 15/12/2009 13:05

Hi apricots I'm a second timer too with a DD who is an early bird. So tiresome. She's only 11 months and (until this week) has been wanting to start her day by 6am at the latest for the last few months. We've just dropped her morning nap and now she's sleeping in reliably past 6.30 and some mornings until 7.30 . Not counting my chickens yet though, and just wanted to say I know how horrid it is having to get up and look after an older child in the early hours of the day when you're feeling exhausted and nauseous, bleurgh...

I didn't have a CS last time, had an awful forceps delivery though so my birth plan this time is to give natural delivery a go and if my labour doesn't progress well then to go straight for a CS, no fart arsing about with epidurals, ventouse, episiotomy, forceps etc...

I think that since you had a CS last time you should be fine to request one this time. Depends on your hospital's policy but I'm pretty sure a lot of consultants prefer previous CS ladies to have another CS. I could have that completely wrong though!

Sorry everyone who's feeling rotten. It's so hard trying to function normally when feeling so sick. The things that helped me last time, and I think are staving off the awful sickness this time, are eating something small and non-fatty/sugary every 2-3 hours to keep blood sugar stable (crackers with marmite, grapes, toast, yogurt, a small jacket potato etc), staying hydrated (sipping water all day rather than gulping down a big glass as and when I remember), and getting more rest (even just 5 minutes shut eye in a meeting room).

Am quite tired today though. What is it with the waking up at 4am and not being able to get back to sleep?!

ElusiveMoose · 15/12/2009 13:43

Quick question - has anyone been for a swine flu jab yet? I know there's lots of other threads about it on here, but just wondered about you lot. When I went to the doctor I mentioned it, and he immediately said 'yes, you should definitely have it, just make an appointment as soon as is convenient for you'. But he hadn't mentioned it until I did . Definitely not having it until January, because I don't want to risk having flu symptoms at Christmas, but haven't decided whether to have it at all yet - or to give it to DS, who's 2 years 3 months.

ElusiveMoose · 15/12/2009 13:44

Oh, and on the dentist question - I don't remember needing my MATB1, but I definitely did have a form - think it was a specific form to exempt me from dental and prescription charges. You'd probably need a doctor to sign it, though. I guess they might make an earlier appointment for you if you explained the reason??

Bewler · 15/12/2009 13:50

Oh no, I am so so sorry for PDR, Muser and Scotch . I wish I had something helpful to say but I just hope the people you love are taking care of you right now.

Hello newbies, I don't get to post very often but its nice to see similarly symptomless-knicker-checkers in the midst . I am 6 weeks today and my only symptom is very full, sore boobs. I had to fly to Spain and back yesterday for a meeting which was tiring but otherwise I feel fine. Have I escaped the morning-honk or is it too early?

Managed to get through a party on Friday drinking Cobra zero which was so disgusting I nearly outted myself just so I could drink water in peace . Got my work christmas do on Friday which will be harder.

Sorry to be impersonal, I am reading everyone's posts and following your progress interestedly, especially those of you with DCs already. I got given smug-married-Emma's diary by the doctor and accidentally read the birth bit. It make me want to curl into a ball, suck my thumb and find a happy place

bouncingblueberries · 15/12/2009 13:53

Elusive I had my swine flu jab when I was 5+4 - was already booked in to have it done before I fell pregnant, so just kept the appointment. Felt ok that evening but the next day was a struggle and was in bed by 7pm that night. The exhaustion was unbelievable and I ended up with the chills and ached all over. Not nice, but short-lived.

ElusiveMoose · 15/12/2009 13:57

Oh Bewler, you think reading about it is bad ?? Sorry, that's really mean to the first-timers. I'm not going to pretend it's a barrel of laughs (though some crazy people love it), but it doesn't last that long, you enter the zone and you get through it.

Oh, and Cobra Zero is FOUL. Try Becks alcohol free. Much nicer.

Bewler · 15/12/2009 13:57

bouncing - My doctor told me he wouldn't give me the swine flu jab till I was past 12 weeks. Lots of confusing info out there it seems . Hope I don't get it before then!

Bewler · 15/12/2009 14:00

Elusive - seriously, I read something nasty about what happens to your perineum (or chin rest as my disgusting friend calls it) and had to hide the book after that and think about storks bring babies in little fwuffy blankets la la la la la!
Gonna give the Becks a try

bouncingblueberries · 15/12/2009 15:49

Bewler here's the official guidance - if you scroll down the page it talks about the vaccine for pregnant women

Bewler · 15/12/2009 16:18

Thanks BBB

Dibbydab · 15/12/2009 16:31

Ladies, I would thoroughly recommend the Mumsnet Guide to Pregnancy as a great (funny) read which covers the major issues we're all worried about - lets face it, who here hasn't thought "can't they just take it out while I'm asleep and wake me up when it's over".

Crazycatlady I read this bit "eating something small and non-fatty/sugary every 2-3 hours to keep blood sugar stable" just as I was finishing a family bag of Frazzles and reaching for a doughnut , I'm sticking by the line that the jam in the doughnut is part of my 5 a day fruit

I have been a bit miffed lately at DH's lack of real enthusiasm that we are having a baby, he was pretty laid back when I showed him the stick and it was nothing like in the films where the guy runs picks you up and swings you around, then goes out and buys a huge teddy bear (note to self - stop watching chick flicks, they are not real life), so we had a chat last night and he was really sweet and said that actually he was filled with a constant dread that something was going to go wrong and didn't want to show too much excitement, because he knew he would have to be strong enough for me if something happened, and that it would be easier if he kind of "detached" himself until we got past the 12 week scan. I said he needn't worry, because I'm worrying enough for the both of us! Men eh?

Hello Newbies

Missus84 · 15/12/2009 17:05

ElusiveMoose - I think I'm going to wait for my second trimester before getting the swine flu jab. I feel like I don't want to take anymore risks than necessary while the embryo is still forming and seems so fragile.

Crazycatlady · 15/12/2009 19:33

Tee hee Dibbydab, mmm frazzles...

My DH is a bit the same, when I ask him, he is very excited about it, but the rest of the time life carries on as if I'm not pregnant . I remember last time, his face at the 12 week scan was such a picture, he could barely hold back the tears. I think it becomes a bit more real for the dads when they can see an actual baby.

DH out tonight so I'm vegetating on the sofa waiting for Jamie's Christmas to come on.

Went to the GP today so am officially 'in the system', and am booked in with the lovely Valley midwives again. Hoping for a homebirth already...

Bewler, you make me laugh. to Emma's Diary, she is soooo smug isn't she? Mumsnet Guide to Pregnancy much better!

vinocollapso · 16/12/2009 06:04

Welcome, Apricots, nice to see you on the thread - we're growing so fast!

Missus, I'm undecided about the swine flu, and will wait as well until my second trimester. I'm not a big fan of drugs and jabs, so we'll see.

I freekin hate Emma's Diary - what a load of toss! I'm also finding quite a lot of the stuff on breastfeeding sexist and vaguely patronising. Yes, I want to BF, yes, it's amazing for the baby, but stop shoving the pressure of 'regaining my figure' down my throat!

Sorry, small rant there - 8 week scan this am a wee bit nervous...

Hope it's not too cold where you all are, and that those of us with sensitive nipples are keeping them warm!

xx

ElusiveMoose · 16/12/2009 08:13

Fingers crossed for you this morning, Vino .

isheisnthe · 16/12/2009 08:22

DH is so excited, this will be his first (my third - after a nightmare ex) - he is such a lovely man to my boys (who are 7 & 5) that I am sure he will make a great dad.

He keeps asking me if I am alright, and was out this morning defrosting my carr and making sure it was warm before I headed off to work.

I know its baby number 3 but it is so different from last time, when ex was not interested in the slightest - I do feel like one of those women in the films whos partner goes and buys the teddy! I came home from a works evening out last night (no, I dodnt drink and I usually would, am recently married so every one was making little "comments"!) and he was looking at prams and nursery stuff on the internet - asking me when we can start shopping for stuff!

DS1 & 2 school play today, DS1 finally has some lines - bet I am going to cry - very emotional at the moment!

Has anyone decided if they will find out what they are having at 20 week scan? I didnt know with either of the boys as they wouldn't tell you at the hospital but the policy has changed now so I am not so sure!

Right, sorry for the long message - as you were!

Crazycatlady · 16/12/2009 09:34

vino hope the scan goes well this morning

isheisnthe your DH sounds lovely! Honestly I don't know how parents hold back the tears watching their DCs in school plays. DD is far too young for all that, but I'm getting emotional at just the mere thought of it . Santa is visiting her nursery tomorrow, and I'm welling up at that...

Not sure if we'll find out the sex this time. We didn't with DD, but I just knew all along she was a girl. Don't have a feeling yet with this one. Would quite like another surprise but I think DH is quite keen to find out this time so we'll see.

Isn't the cold just awful on the nips?!!
