I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

sayanything - very jealous!

My DH used to work at Cottars in the Mara (very close to Serengeti)

Zanzibar is great too - where are you staying [goes off to persuade DH into booking yet another holiday!]

You will have such an amazing time!!!!!!!

liahgenispreggerswithnumber6 · 11/12/2009 19:21

kaylo great news about your little one.

Thanks for all good wishes ladies, so excited, number 6 is absolutely no different to number 1 in terms of excitement.

Hoping everyone is well.

bouncingblueberries · 11/12/2009 20:17

Thanks Kaylo sickness kicked in again late afternoon - had to resort to sipping flat ginger beer to keep it under control.

Feel much better now though. Stuffed myself with pizza with ds at Pizza Express!

PDR hope it went well at the drs and you get a scan either tonight or tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you. I had lots of bleeding episodes with ds and all worked out fine.

Have a lovely evening everyone and a restful weekend

tiany · 11/12/2009 21:56

have a great weekend everyone

PDR, fingers are crossed for you!

KayloHalo · 11/12/2009 21:57

Hey girls

feeling so yukky! heartburn has plagued me since 5 o'clock and I feel like I've drank ten thousand pints of milk. And I've learned that smokers really make me feel sicky, especially when they've just been outside for a sneaky one. I'm not a smoker myself so I guess thats why it affects me so much.

PDR how did it go at the docs? will be thinking of you tomorrow for your scan. xx

everyone have a lovely non-sicky weekend [if you can...]

xxxxxxx

bigmuther65 · 11/12/2009 22:03

another day of sickness can,t seem to stomach anything other than bananas and strawberry milkshake.Managed to get weekend off work feel so tired. Is anyone else being sick a lot,not as bad as yesterday as was sick about 8 times so far today only 4 worried that my little bean won,t be getting enough nutrients.

vix206 · 11/12/2009 22:06

I am really confused! AF would have been due today or tomorrow and my boobs have been less sore the last couple of days so paranoia drove me to take a clearblue digi test.

I expected that it would show I was around 2 weeks pregnant, but it says I am 5 or more weeks pregnant )conception 3 or more weeks ago)!

I know they are only 92% accurate with their timescales but I would have thought they would show lower rather than higher IYKWIM. Has anyone else had any experience of this?

My last period started 15 Nov and was different to any I've ever had before in that it was very heavy indeed, and began with 2 days of light spotting, but it lasted the normal amount of days and wasn't painful. I've had no bleeding since and a normal cycle.

Maybe I will go to the docs next week after all, see if they can shed any light on it!

liahgenispreggerswithnumber6 · 11/12/2009 22:50

vix twins? Perhaps lost an early one?

I remember the digital conception thingy is supposed to be less accurate the more preggers you are. Don't know how true that is.

kaylo I am so not looking forward to heartburn again, I suffer so badly. Still Dh and I said today we are really going to enjoy this pg as it'll def be our last. Am really really gonna try not to moan but I don't actually do pregnancy that well, so we'll see.

mutha sorry you're feeling rough, am kind of looking forward to that in a reassurring mad kind of way. (but for only a week or so not the ususl 5/6 mths)

vix206 · 11/12/2009 22:56

Hmm I don't know, I was silly and tested earlier than when I got my BFP and it was always negative. So the more I think about it the more I think it is either wrong or I have a lot of HCG for whatever reason. Will try and get to see the doc next week! Night all x

BunnyBaby · 11/12/2009 23:03

Hello, went to Doctors this morning and got the awful one, who told me last time I was ancient at 31!!! And rattled on about Down's etc, and not smoking and drinking... As if I was a complete numpty.

Same smug attitude, and ridiculous comments about how "high risk" I am. Bobbins! I had a 3 days labour as DS was posterior, which led to me being induced. I was so knackered after 48 hours with no sleep that I had an epidural. And when he was born they said it was a 2nd degree tear with a graze further back and put a stitch in to be safe. However it was reported as 3rd degree (nonsense, I'd have known had that been the case). There was meconium when he was born, because he pooed on my leg as he slid out.

So I'll see when I get referral, I want midwifes with me, not an obstretician!

Anyone else on #2+ with a similar experience?

I'm more upset as it was like she was trying to remind me of everything that was negative, rather than focusing on the positive.

Horrible, horrible doctor, the Health Visitors have had a lot of complaints about her too.

Grrr

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 12/12/2009 09:08

I am a bit jealous of you all that can get DR's appointments. Mine won't let me be seen til i am 8-10 weeks and i can't bypass them and go straight to the midwives either. It will be a bad time to be seen too as it will need to be the beginning of January. Will try to book an app on monday i think.

Christmas party this evening. Really not looking forward to it, i want to stay in watching X factor slumped on the sofa in my pyjamas

PDR · 12/12/2009 10:00

Sorry - fell asleep on the sofa last night

Saw lovely doctor who tried his best to organise a scan last night but as usual they were too busy.

So just getting ready to go out for private scan now with DH. Bleeding still - very lightly - has not increased - has not decreased either.

Felt awful last night and slept from 7pm right through till 8.30am! Feel ok now though.

I'll let you know what happens!

Nikalah · 12/12/2009 10:07

Best of luck PDR - will be thinking of you today x

Boobs - I've been wearing a bra day and night and they have really calmed down - definitely gone up a size so need to buy some new bras - ouch!

Sickness has been really bad this week - I can only compare it to when I had the Norovirus. Although I manage to stop myself from actually being sick (I hate it) the nausea is so strong. I found some SEA BANDS from when I went on a boat last Christmas - they have really worked a treat.

Have a wonderful Christmassy weekend x

Dibbydab · 12/12/2009 10:51

Morning ladies,

My first bout of morning sickness hit me with a vengeance yesterday, so my day off for Christmas shopping ended up with me under a blanket, lying on the sofa all day try to eat dry bread and fruit juice. I am 6 +6 so probably pretty lucky to have got this far along without any throwing up.

Went to get boobs measured last week - they've gone from a 34 DD to 34F. I'm afraid I couldn't bring myself to get those maternity bras, they just gave me so support at all and reminded me of those crop tops I wore when I was 11, so I've ended up with underwired - I could probably fit my head in one of the cups .

Def need to get our tree up this weekend, if I can summon the energy - might just have to direct DH in where to hang the lights/tinsel/baubles, from the sofa

Best of luck with your scan PDR

Wishing you all a great weekend, whatever you're up to.

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 12/12/2009 11:25

PDR good luck today, fingers crossed for you

My hormones seem to have hit me in one go. Just had to stop myself crying my eyes out in the middle of town when the salvation army started playing christmas carols

Crazycatlady · 12/12/2009 12:11

Thinking of you today PDR.

BunnyBaby your doctor doesn't sound great I must say. I'm also on baby 2 after a very traumatic first delivery where just about everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I'm yet to see my GP or midwife but am a bit apprehensive about it. However, when I had the follow up with the consultant about my 3rd degree tear (they did internal scans etc to see how I'd healed), I asked specifically if I would need to be under consultant care for next pregnancy and he said no, so perhaps it's not necessary?

Nikalah I wore sea bands for most of my first trimester last time. I think they helped. The nausea was still there but even if it was just psychological they helped me get through a day at work. Oh yes, and those old fashioned travel sweets in a tin. Can't stand the sight of them now, bleurgh, so who knows what I'll do when the nausea really hits this time. Kind of hoping it won't but can't remember exactly when it kicked in badly last time, think around 7 weeks, so that'll be just before Christmas then .

I seem to not be feeling sick and my boobs aren't as achy. But I'm wondering how much of last week's boob ache was more down to stopping breastfeeding DD... Am generally feeling not too bad at the moment, and making the most of it!

Is anyone feeling really fat already? I had to really squeeze into my jeans this morning and I'm only about 5 and a half weeks

tiany · 12/12/2009 12:23

girls are any of you runners?

I have read that you need to keep your heart rate below 140. Went for a run this morning but ended up walking most of the way as my heart rate is much higher. not sure what to do

Crazycatlady · 12/12/2009 13:17

Yes I'm a runner. I stopped running almost straight away last PG as I just didn't seem to have the stamina (in fact that's what made me think I was PG last time!). And my heart rate always teeters around 160 when I run so thought I'd better stop.

This time I have stopped running again but it's very hilly round here so I've been doing long hill walks at a good pace instead interspersed with light jogs on the downhills. HR around 130.

It's overheating rather than heart rate which is the big thing to be avoided, but since it's hard to tell when you're running outside what your internal body temp is, HR is as good a guide as any.

No reason to stop running completely but if your HR is soaring I'd take it down to a light jog or walk/jog. Boring though!

tiany · 12/12/2009 13:46

tks Crazycatlady.. boring is right, thats how it felt this morning but I dont want to take any chances!

I'll try to jog/walk and see how it goes.

PDR · 12/12/2009 15:16

Ok I've had the scan.

Somewhat inconclusive.

As it's so early it was hard to see anything but she said that I was definately pregnant and there was a tiny "black hole" which could be the start of something...she couldn't detect a heartbeat but she said she wouldn't expect to

She wants to see me again in 3 weeks time.

She said if anything changes, more bleeding more pain, then I should go on Monday for the NHS scan, otherwise just wait and see.

She did say though that if I had lost the baby, I would see more blood and be in some discomfort so I guess that's positive (for now).

She measured the "black hole" and it was 4 weeks 4 days (measures from conception) so if you count back a couple of weeks to first day of last period then that matches my dates (6 weeks 6 days today).

Kind of thought I'd see more TBH but there you go!

KayloHalo · 12/12/2009 15:19

Alice the carol singing sally army gets me every year - pregnant or not

Dibby at your head size bra. I'm putting off getting measured for that precise reason lol.

PDR Please let us know howthe scan went - fingers crossed for you xx

Bunny Your doctor sounds like she needs a slap. Simple. She's awful - stick you mw's hun.

xxx

tiany · 12/12/2009 17:02

PDR stay positive, i think at this early stage we all just have to hope things will go well. Glad to hear it wasnt bad news.

Bunny - defo, your doc must lead a miserable life, dont let her bother you

Crazycatlady · 12/12/2009 17:22

Thanks for letting us know PDR. Frustrating it couldn't be more conclusive but at this early stage it is positive that the pregnancy could be detected on a scan.

I hope it's made you feel a bit better and I guess it's just taking each day as it comes, as hard as that is!

I have been thoroughly foul to DH this afternoon. He's just getting in the way and making mess (albeit unintentionally) and we haven't seemed to make much headway with the jobs we had to get done today, and I just KNOW he'll want to fall asleep in front of X Factor this evening and then today will be done. The house will still be a mess (all his work stuff, tools and paperwork I don't know what to do with), the decorations still won't be up and I'll still be cross .

Plus DD (11 months) seems to only want to eat Scotch Broth at the moment, nothing else will do and she's whinging like mad over a lovely roast chicken dinner which is very tiresome indeed.

[Whinge over] {smile]

vinocollapso · 12/12/2009 17:34

PDR - thinking of you, and keeping all digits crossed that it's just your bean implanting.

Bunny - your doctor sounds likes a right arse. I had a similar experience with mine a few weeks ago, and it was all I could do to sop myself leaning over the desk and slamming her head into the wall. Ah, hormones.

Dibby, you do make me laugh. My puppies have also exploded and I'm now up from an E to an F cup. And they seem to now be made of lead.

Sickness is now a constant, as is tiredness. How any of you gals manage with other children is beyond me - you have my utmost respect!

Crazy and Tiany - I cycle a lot and swim and I didn't know that about heart rate! Have to say I've lost my killer sporting side at the moment - my cycle is somewhat leisurely, and I'm not sea swimming because of the temperature, which I do know can be dodgy if too cold. Or I'd be mistaken for a whale...

Hey to everyone else today! xx

FloweryBoots · 12/12/2009 17:40

Typial preganacy does just what you don't want it to do to you and not the thngs that you wouldn't mind. I'm sure enormous knockers are a pain (especially when they hurt), but for ironing board chest over here, I wouldnt mind a bit of pregnancy enlargement. Do I get it though, no, o course not, not even a bit, in fact I thnk they might even have got smaller (though I'm not sure if that's possible for my tiny AAs!
