Hi Girls - so here we all are and so far so good (fingers and toes crossed and wheelbarrow loads of baby dust abounding)

Thought I would start a new thread (new name too) as babies being found out about now will just about be into March so we are no longer the absolute newbies which feels good!

So maybe we should collate all our due dates(any one had a dates scan yet??)

Keep it up!

JuA from what I remember last time, we took ss then aged 5 with us, but I had to go in on my own initially, then when all was ok, dh and ss were allowed to come in, although this was the 20 week scan, as we didn't get a 12 week one then, but 2 and a bit years on we do!!!

flamesparrow · 22/07/2005 08:47

I'm not taking DD (2), but then I have care....

I know if she was there then she'd be trying to jump on my lap!

TicTac · 22/07/2005 12:29

bloomin' eck it's quiet on here today

Tabs · 22/07/2005 13:48

It is indeed TicTac!

I had a midwife appointment this morning, but was fairly non-eventful after only having the one at the hospital 3 days ago! She did find Chip's heartbeat - at least she was happy she had, and could hear him moving around!

She gave me the number to try and book my antenatal classes. I want to get in early as they do them Monday nights or Thursday nights, but DH will be in Dublin every Monday night until Christmas, so want to make sure we get in for Thursdays, as he usually comes back home that day.

Next m/w appointment 5 weeks away now.

TicTac · 22/07/2005 15:05

Hi Tabs, so it sounds like once you have had your first Mw appointment they just keep coming! So how soon do we start ante natal classes then?

Tabs · 22/07/2005 15:29

Yep - think they're roughly every 4 weeks from now on in. Don't think the ante-natal classes start for months yet - think most people have them at about 30 weeks, but don't know if they'll be shifted around a bit to avoid Christmas. Will let you know once I find out the dates for mine.

Anyone planning on going for NCT classes too? I've heard that they're very worthwhile and get booked v early, but e-mailed them 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back yet!

TicTac · 22/07/2005 15:31

I was thining abou tthe NCT classes. I have not emailed anyone yet though. I was waiting until I have had my scan before I do anything baby orientated....am I being naieve?

Tabs · 22/07/2005 15:55

No - I'm sure most people wouldn't get in touch this early, but after my first scan I felt a bit more confident, so thought I'd just tentatively approach them!

Other than that, I've just started this week to think about prams, and that's it. Don't intend to buy anything just yet, but there's so much stuff to consider that I thought I'd try and get a head start. If anyone has thoughts on prams then I started a thread in products asking about them the other day, so do pop over and chip in - thanks!

ixel · 22/07/2005 17:33

My friend told me today that I was 'starting to look bigger'. I suppose I should be pleased, but I'm only 11 weeks (tummy muscles knackered after last time!), and I still keep thinking 'what if its not true?'. I dont believe anything till the scan. And I haven't had any symptoms for days!
Off to my friends this weekend, to try and make time fly before my scan on Tuesday. Its the first time I've stayed somewhre with ds (other than relatives), so am very apprehensive of a child unfriendly house.
BTW, if someone does an update (which wont be me as I'm crap at cutting and pasting!), my missing details are : living in North London, aged 31, ds is going to be 27 months when the new one comes, dh will be 42 much to his horror!

JuA · 22/07/2005 18:05

I would definetley reccomend NCT classes - I can't really say much about how well they prepared me for the birth - I had an elective section but only had 3 days notice with dd, but I made some great friends and see 2 other mums once a week with our children and we have the odd night out too.
I had my midwife appointment this afternoon - and it was quite interesting - not much has changed!! but she was able to change my consultant back to the one that I know. I have to see the consultant at 24 weeks to talk about how I will give birth - I am planning a VBAC at the moment. I was told they would want to monitor me continuously once I got to 4cm dilated but I hope if I can get some info I will be able to argue against this.

Lulu68 · 22/07/2005 18:51

Hi All

Haven't posted since my intro - feeling superstitious until I have the scan (weds evening) but just had to reply to JuA re VBAC, if you join the groups.yahoo.com/group/ukvbachbac/ group they can give you/guide you to all the info you need - (it was great to be able to present dh with facts, really got him on my side). I had a VBA2C last year and next year I intend to have a HBA2C! I found a consultant who agreed to my not being constantly monitored, although it did mean quite alot of action on our part including changing hospitals at about 35 weeks! well worth it. Good Luck and I hope to read all about your successful VBAC next Feb

Ixel - have you seen this thread ? There's a meet up in Barnet on 4th August. I'm going, and would be great if you could make it too. What about you Popmum - not far for you either?

TicTac · 24/07/2005 13:08

hi all, just got back from a hen weekend...thought there would be loads of catching up to do but there doesn't sem to have been many postings!?!?! Are we all ok?

X

flamesparrow · 24/07/2005 16:31

Hiya!!

I was in London yesterday to see Joseph (great btw), and am aching all over today!!!

Just been to book the honeymoon... we leave for Cyprus next Sunday for 7 days!!

YeahBut · 24/07/2005 18:05

Oooo, FS, that sounds great. Hopefully, you'll be feeling really good by then.

Frizbe · 24/07/2005 20:14

Oh wow FS, I really hope you have a great time and aren't feeling sicky and icky at all {{{Hugs}}}

TicTac · 24/07/2005 20:33

FS that is great! Where abouts are you going? We have a house over there so if I can tell you any good places..I will.

ixel · 24/07/2005 21:05

Hi Tabs. I'd seen the thread, but dh is on a middle shift that day, so wont be able to get home in time to do the ds handover and me get out of the house! Otherwise I might actually have gone. I dont really do evening outings as dh is at work 90% of the times they are arranged!!
I'm also a bit scared of committing to a fun night out before the all important 12 wk scan, incase its bad news and I then want to back out, and put Kayleigh to trouble rearranging numbers!
Just survived my first night away at a friends with ds in tow; the most unchildproof house in the world, and only with childless people who dont appreciate the necessity of entertaining and exhausting toddlers so they sleep and stay out of trouble! It was good though. But was the only one not drinking! And ds was very suprised to look out of his travel cot this morning to find my friend on the other side of the bed instead of his Daddy!!

Tabs · 24/07/2005 22:21

No worries Ixel. I'm sure that WHEN (don't do if's!!) you get good news at your scan, Kayleigh will happily add you in if you change your mind and can sort out a babysitter to stand in for DH.

Otherwise it'll have to be next time!

BarefootMama · 25/07/2005 09:34

Welcome back Lulu68 !

Good luck for your scan if you dont post before wednesday.

Mine is Thursday - already done bloods - quite nervous.

Thinking of you!

womba1 · 25/07/2005 14:56

Hi All, isn't this cooler weather lovely?? I'm actually managing to walk about without little droplets of sweat running down my spine!! It's sheer heaven and never again will i complain about feeling cold!!
I'm still not experiencing any symptoms and i seem to have regained all my energy but i'm sure thats more to do with the cooler temps than anything else! My appetite had completely disappeared so i'm forcing myself to eat, as when i don't, thats when i feel a bit queasy. I've even gone off pickled onion monster munch which my dh is delighted about... he hates them and found kissing me a real struggle!! I always managed to talk him round though!!

I reach the big 12 weeks on Friday and then i have my first scan next Monday. I feel really apprehensive, more so this time round and i'm not going to relax until i see a little heart beating on that monitor. My dh is being his usual optimistic self but i'd half like him to understand how nervous i am and not just tell me it's all going to be ok.. does that make sense or are these just a pregnant ladies ramblings?!?!?!
Hope everyone is doing well... take care!

BarefootMama · 25/07/2005 15:04

Its no fun this food fad is it!

Last night i ate 1/4 jar of - wait for it pickled red cabbage - now you HAVE to be pg for that. I then had terrible indigestion.

Twelve weeks today for me and sicker than ever!

womba1 · 25/07/2005 15:28

Good God!!! I don't even think pregnancy could make me eat pickled cabbage... i'm heaving at the mere thought!
Bless him... my dh has just called from work and asked if theres anything in particular i'd like bought in... can i think of anything... can i heck?!?!?!
I thought i may have fancied some curly fries... but now the thought of them dripping in oil has completely turned my stomach over.
When pregnant with my ds, i fancied everything... my dh would even joke that i'd take the pattern off the dinner plate!

Tabs · 25/07/2005 15:29

I like flapjacks and bounties at the moment. Had to resist buying bounties when we went shopping at the weekend, as I knew they wouldn't last 5 mins, and I'm still supposed to be dieting!

womba1 · 25/07/2005 15:31

Tabs!!! You may have just hit the nail on the head... Bounties!!! Hmmmmmmmmmm.... all that sticky coconut in dark chocolate!!!
You star.... virual snogs coming your way!!
Just off to call dh....
