Morning all, had 9 hours of unbroken sleep last night - no visits from DD -- and feel like a new woman!!

Southern -I like that bag, wish I'd seen it sooner as been looking for something that doesn't hang down too far, most bags will bash DS on back of his head when in the back of Phil & Teds!

Lissy - how about a massage or have a pedicure without them putting polish (or enjoy it until they take it off for section - never had one myself so don't know for definate that the do!) With my first pregnancy I had some photos done by www.tinabolton.co.uk/tbp/tina_bolton.htm that were great, couldn't afford it with the others mind! Maybe there's someone in your area?

Ninjacat · 15/10/2009 08:14

Tanlin have you concidered hypnosis to turn baby? It's supposed to have quite a high success rate. I've added a link because they offer a 15min free phone consultation. Don't worry if it's not your thing, just a suggestion www.hypnobirthing4u.co.uk/turning-breech-babies.htm

Hello all!

Not much to report here - everyone seems to be ill (not in this house now - DH better today) but there's a lot of sickness and squits going around - the worst kind of bug in my opinion. Yuckity yuck yuck.

Well another week is going by: 36 week appointment for me today and then Hippos in Water later. I'm just glad it is half term soon - a break from all the chaos.

Laugs · 15/10/2009 08:53

Tamlin fingers crossed that the ECV works and that you don't have any more contractions before then. I'll be thinking of you at 1 o'clock.

Ninja Amazing to think they can turn babies by hypnosis. I wonder how that works.

Raggie I bet you and the other bumps will just naturally gravitate towards each other (hopefully not speeding up too much as your body masses get closer...)

I did think it was useful to have a proper changing bag rather than just my handbag, as you can just leave everything in there and don't have to think about it each time you go out. I just got the Boots one though and thought it was fine, if not the loveliest thing in the world. I think it's like anything - with the more expensive ones you can see where the money has been spent and they are better quality, but they essentially do exactly the same job. It's just a matter of taste/ money really. If you're the sort of person who spends a lot on your handbag, then I think you'd find it a good investment; if, like me most of your bags come from Primark, you'll probably find other ways to spend your money.

skorpion · 15/10/2009 09:00

Good morning all! What, no Wednesday baby?

Hello from SnotCity! Still feel yucky, head all heavy and voice like I have an 80-a-day habit. Well, at least IT'S MY LAST DAY AT THE OFFICE!!!

I won't be able to relax straight away, though. Got a wedding tomorrow, a post-wedding pig roast on Saturday, work at home on Monday, taking mum to Stansted on Tuesday, work meeting on Wednesday. Honest, this kid is not getting much of a look in at all!

tamlin I hope it works today and the procedure is not too uncomfortable.

lemontop great to hear from you and that the little lad is doing so well. Messages like yours just make me think I want mine to be here now. And then I look at the tip that is currently my house and think, maybe not.

I'm not eating properly, haven't put on any weight for about two weeks. I think I must force myself to cram in some veg. Hopefully LO is still growing and it's just my stores - and quite considerable they are - that are getting depleted.

Anyway, enough of this me me me stuff, I better go do some work and see if I can get off earlier today. Still must go shopping for a shawl for tomorrow. Hope you have a good day, xx

Laugs · 15/10/2009 09:01

southernbelle hope you do have a better day and that your DD's constipation clears up.

Lissy hope you find a nice way to treat yourself. I agree a haircut sounds good and will make sure you look lovely even if you don't feel it. By the way, would your DP work in a shop? I was in town yesterday and LOADS of shops were looking for temporary staff for the Christmas period. I know he'd be better with a permanent job in the long run but this might tide you over while he's looking.

I went to bed early last night for my 'me time' and fell asleep promptly at about 9pm! I'm finding it so hard to sleep comfortably though. The baby feels like it is wedged under my rib cage...?

maman2tom · 15/10/2009 09:29

Hi sorry couldn't provide the wednesday baby and i'm now totally fed up to the back teeth of sitting around waiting for this baby thats going to be born any minute (oh yeah right i'm taking bets on december now!)

Just wanted to say good luck Tamlin I had an ECV with my first and it was really not painful just a bit uncomfortable - what with doc shoving my bump one way and baby pushing the other!! Mine didn't work but was worth a try and notas scary as i thought it would be. Plus you'll have tons of monitoring + scans to check babys Ok so try to relax.

Laugs · 15/10/2009 09:39

maman Have you been having contractions or still waiting for all that to kick off?

Is it normal for it to be quite painful in the pelvis any time you've been in the same position for a while ie. when I get up in the middle of the night or I've been sitting working for a while? I don't remember this from last time. I don't think it can be SPD as I'm ok as long as I stay active and it doesn't sound as bad as others have described. Anything I can do?

My SIS got my one of those overpriced skiphop bags and I didn't think it was great as didn't fit that much in it! Once u have change of clothes, nappies etc etc u need a mini suitcase and with 2 surely i will need a large suitcase everytime i leave the house!

Finding life post work with demanding 2 and half year old very hard work...need to adjust to new non working life and seek out new playmates...

Laugs · 15/10/2009 10:12

Sounds like everything's getting into position Kyte! Are you still housebound that your DH has to get money out for you? You must be getting so fed up. I can't manage more than one day in the house without turning into a huge grump. Sounds like it'd be a good thing if you did go into labour now.

ErikaMaye · 15/10/2009 10:36

Right I will read through everything and reply in a bit, but am so annoyed / upset right now I simply have to rant. Apologies in advance.

I really do like DP's mum, I think she's fantastic, and we do get on quite well. But remember I said recently she's coming down on the 17th and 18th to see him? Well she's now coming down on the 24th as well, and - wait for it - apparently we're all going up there for Boxing Day.

None of this has been run past us, or especially me

I know she just wants to be involved, which is lovely - but for crying out loud!!! If they decided I can have a natural birth, he could only be just over 3 weeks old at Christmas. He could turn up any time in the next eight weeks, and these arrangements have just been made without any consideration to what we want. I'm really angry!!!

Plus the presumption that he'll be here on either the 17th/18th or even the 24th makes me feel like I'm under an incredable amount of pressure for something that I have no control over. UGH!!!!!

Trikken · 15/10/2009 10:48

Erika I would be peed too. My mil makes arrangements like this too, think she just forgets to ask us, cos shes always suprised when we dont know about it or seem confused when she 'reminds' us.

plus every year we get the darned christmas argument, both mils want us for christmas day and refuse to budge over it, but as we have been to mils twice in a row we are having christmas at ours this year, and my family will come over for dinner. although everyone knows this they will probably 'forget' closer to the time and I will have to upset the in-laws again by telling them this.

Gets you down when all you want is a nice relaxed christmas.

Laugs · 15/10/2009 11:04

erika you have my sympathy. Last time round my brother came up to stay for the week DD was due (he's a teacher and it was his half term). I felt guilty when nothing happened. I can distinctly remember us standing at the train station as he was about to leave and him saying "right, if your contractions start in the next 20 minutes I'll stay". BUT, he's my brother, who I love and am very close to. If it was my MIL it would be another matter entirely. That would probably send me into labour through stress (or I'd have to fake it to get out of the house )

Can't your DP say something along the lines of not wanting to waste her trip, so he could call her when you go into labour and she can come asap? I think that makes it sound like you're trying to get her really involved, but in fact you're likely to be in the hospital the first day or two (longer if you have a CS), so she'll only be allowed to see you during visiting hours and will probably have left by the time you go home.

Laugs · 15/10/2009 11:07

Also, I'm due the week after you and we've told everyone we're not travelling for Christmas this year. It's just too stressful, and we're likely to still be under midwife care at that point anyway.

southernbelle77 · 15/10/2009 11:16

Someone strap me to the sofa please! I've just been to the shops (and just remembered I forgot what I actually went there for goddamnit!) and now I'm in agony! DD has 3 birthday parties to go to in the next 3 weeks I just wanted to get all the presents and cards sorted now so it doesn't matter what happens with the baby. But most importantly I forgot her constipation medication ARRRRGGGHHHH!! So, now I'm going to have to go out again as I need to get it for tonight and I also need to get her inhaler prescription from the doctors as I stupidly (and god knows why) took if off the pharmacy collection at Tesco where I was earlier! I'm losing my mind!!

Did however buy a large supply of pineapple because I love it and I'm hoping it might send me in to labour - yeah right, no such luck, lol!

Erika sorry you've had probs with mil. I'm sure she is trying to be helpful etc, but more often than not these things come out wrong espectially when didn't think to ask you. If you think it's going to be too much for Christmas then just tell her.

We are quite lucky with the christmas thing as my dad lives in Goa half the year so is not here for Christmas so we don't have the worry about which family we will see (my mum passed away 5 years ago). DH's family live just up the road and so we usually spend christmas day with them as it means not having to worry about having it here! We then see my sister and her other half on boxing day.

Trikken · 15/10/2009 11:21

I have bought a pineapple too, gonna wait to eat it til dh gets home, only cos im rubbish at cutting them up and he likes to think of himself as a Master Of Knife-Wielding!

scarlotti · 15/10/2009 11:28

Morning all

Finally caught up on all the posts!! Sorry to hear about all the illnesses going around, you have my complete sympathy after feeling so rotten last week.

Finally handed over my bits of work yesterday so feel like weight has been lifted now as no more work pressure on me. Slept quite well last night but still feeling a bit sleepy so presuming it's my brain de-stressing!

erika sorry to hear DP's Mum is still presuming things. Lovely to see you yesterday and apologies for being a bit tired!

We've told everyone we're not going anywhere at Xmas, same as when DS was born. With a 7 week old it's the last thing I'd want. Means though that it will probably just be us 5 which is much quieter then we're used to but the thought of travelling anywhere is a big no. We'll just have an open house option for anyone that wants to visit!

Baby's movements seem to have slowed down - is this normal for 37 weeks? can't remember from before so wondering now if I should get in touch with anyone to get checked?

wook · 15/10/2009 11:47

Scarlotti my baby's movements also really slowed down. I worried if they may be fewer than 10. Midwife said I had to ring delivery suite- they take this very seriously. Anyway, as soon as I got through and started speaking to midwife, baby went mad and started booting me left, right and centre!!
The midwife suggested jotting down movements over a period of time, e.g. twelve hours so I did and it was reassuring.
Apparently, they slow down before they come out- this is what I am hoping is the reason!

GTT tomorrow, and had to send urine off for test as to why I have 'raised neutrophils' today: (tip: don't ever google 'raised neutrophils' unless you want to scer yourselves silly!) Why all this stress just at the very end of the pg- so annoying!!

wook · 15/10/2009 11:49

scare, even!

Kyte cross posted with you.. hope it's true about the slowing down = labour soonish!

Trikken · 15/10/2009 11:51

mine seems to have slowed a little, but not concernably, so am hoping that it is a good sign.

sleeplessinthecity · 15/10/2009 11:53

All I will say erika is that say how you feel to your DP, calmly. Babies are no joke, however having said that a change in scenery may do you good. We had DD on 20th Dec and by New Years we were going stir crazy. We took up an invite to see friends and stay at theirs for the night..it was the best decision we made..It was a good thing for me as I was in a new place and saw new things..Those night time feeds were getting to me..but its totally up to you and see how it goes.

We're going to Belfast for Christmas..I'm not doing Christmas alone again..i love the festivities too much and DH's face lights up when he's at home.

as for nappy Bags.. I'm a primark girl too, but DH insists on buying me good sturdy bags..not expensive as he shops on ebay for them and reads up on good makes. He would never go down the designer route as I'm not bothered.. But you need a bag that will last and take spills, have a good changing mat, pockets for bottle etc.

skorpion I'm in your camp..not putting on weight..have actually lost some..Its odd as I eat lots.

longwayaway · 15/10/2009 12:07

Tamlin, fingers crossed the ECV works...

Laugs I get a lot of hip pain at night from being in the same position, it always goes away when I start moving around. I think those muscles must be tensing up while I sleep, because I hear loads of snap-crackle-pops coming from my pelvic region when I flip over at night.

Erika - as you say, you have no control over these things! I would just smile and nod and then, when the day comes, decide what's best for you and baby. Don't let them pressure you into anything. She's a mum, for crying out loud, she should understand!

We're not going anywhere for Christmas. My family will be coming out but they've rented an apartment down the street for two weeks so they will be fairly low-maintenance and hopefully (!) a big help.

Taking it easy as it's my 30th birthday today - DH got me exactly what I wanted without my saying anything! He's a keeper :D Plus I thought I hadn't been getting any birthday mail but it turns out he was just hiding things as they came in, so he presented me with a little pile of cards and presents this morning. And my officemate had flowers waiting for me on my desk when I got in. Really nice to get a big boost of warm-fuzzies in the midst of what's generally become one big third-tri moanfest.
