Morning,

Gruff, I am so sorry to hear about your Mum. I hope the chemo works. I will think of her for you. Hope GC gets better soon.

STT, Hope labour starts for you soon.

Lightning, hope the packing goes well. We have boxes of tat that haven't been unpacked. I keep mentioning it to DH but he always has some reason why we can't sort it out. I am going to hire a skip and chuck it all.

I had a lovely indian takeaway last night but spent most of the night feeling sick. I think it was a mix of eating too much and drinking too much wine.

Hope everyone is ok.

Morning all, a very quiet night for me, the quietest I've had for weeks in fact. I slept really well, waking up for wees, but went back to sleep easily after, although I did wake at 5 and have been up since then, which is NOT like me at all!

Am planning on snuggling up in bed again in a bit, now that DS and DH have left.

DS sounds quite poorly this morning but seems bright enough, so we've dosed him up with cough medicine, a couple of puffs of his inhaler to keep his airways nice and open (he's not asthmatic but seems to really benefit from it when he has colds) and a small dose of calpol, just to keep him comfy. Hopefully he'll be alright at nursery today. If he hadn't been so chipper, I'd have kept him home but he seems so happy to be going.

41+1 today - and beginning to feel like a) I'm imagining the pregnancy and b) Maybe a CS isn't such a bad option after all

Morning

Gruff, I am so sorry for your mum That must be awful for all of you. The feeling of helplessness is overwelming. I'm not a religious person at all, but will deffo keep her and your family in my thoughts, along with hope and good wishes. Also hoping GC has turned the corner as you say, poor little mite

Also hoping that IDOB has just been too busy snuggling to be worried about letting us know any news, does she not realise that she is stopping me from getting my arse into gear and getting on with the packing? That goes for you too STT! (Think that's the longest text I've ever striked through! Bet at least one of the words isn't crossed out!)

Diege, I have also left most of the housework, am still hoovering the living/playroom, and washing kitchen sides down, more for hygene, but everything else has gone out of the window. Though I am being very good and have set time aside in 'The Moving Schedule', so that once it's all empty and DH takes the kids out somewhere, I will polish, hoover, wipe down, scrub, sweep, mop, everything and get it clean for them to move into. Will never forget when we moved in here, he'd left the boiler not working - no hot water, house was filthy, and I do mean filthy filthy, bits of toe nails left all over the bathroom floor, dead flies on the bottom of the fitted wardrobes, the kitchen was thick with grease and dirt, and the cooker LOL It worked, except where it'd not been cleaned for god knows how long, all the rotten food on the bottom of it, had actually rotted away the bottom of the oven, I was cleaning it (with hot water from the electric shower!), hand went through bottom of oven, so I yelled at sent DH to get to shops to buy a new oven. We moved in on the Friday morning, by Sunday night, we'd bought a new oven and hob, had British Gas cowboys out to the boiler, and had decided on the new kitchen we were going to have to unexpectedly buy! Could never leave these buyers to move into anything like that!

Ses and SST, I have no advice I'm afraid re. the sleeping, despite having been on both ends of the spectrum (1 who just would not sleep, and 1 that slept for England!) but, it sound's like both of you are making good progress

Kay, we ended up with a kebab last night, I got in from driving at 8.15, kids went straight to bed, Mikey had a bottle, all of us are full of colds, there was no way we were going to start cooking at 10 o'clock! Only thing is, we usually only ever brave the kebabs when we've had a drink, and then they seem very tasty, when stone cold sober... well, they're not very nice to put it mildly!

Am about to go and order DS1's new uniforms from JL, it is all getting a bit too close and real now. Can't believe we're moving next week, away from everything, new house, new area, new schools, new people,

idob - hopefully you have some news

have been 2 jolly babes it was good
have dreaded dentist @ 4pm

dd1 badly grazed knee @ school yesterday. when she got home was moaning it was hurting saw blood on outside of tites. would nt let me or my mum take tites off!!! was crying for an hour about it. was then sick before bed. she is so tired as well bless her.
told teacher today about knee.
we are meant to be going up to hul to see dhs family in half term as soon as she breakes up. it is a 6 hour drive!!
should we still go?!
worried as :- dd1 is knackered, over excited already, moody, not doing as she is told and generally not herself? any thoughts ladies ?!

Report
Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/10/2009 12:53

Tink, sounds like DD might be coming down with something - to be honest, a long drive is probably just what she needs to give her some extra sleep. Have you got anything like a portable DVD player she can watch films on, distraction without being 'strenous'? We have one for DS and its a lifesaver! I'd just make sure you pack a bottle of calpol in case she does get poorly (and maybe a carrier bag and an old towel in case she does more vomiting!).

Its quite common for kids to get poorly around half term time, as they're just so shattered from being at school - a good break is probably just what the doctor ordered!

If you ever have dried blood on tights, wet the area with luke warm water, so that you don't rip scabs off - poor DD.

Have slept all morning and woken to find that my friend, who's not due till next week, is currently in hospital, in labour Its her first FFS, she's supposed to be late! Its all quite exciting though.

Have forgotten what else I read now , may have to go and scoff another pork pie and read through again...

I wonder how IDOB is. I don't really want to text her in case she is in labour or if she isn't then she might be pissed off with people texting.

You could just send one that says 'thinking of you' and wondering if you've had that babe yet as STT thinks she's jinxed until your birth announcement is made

For Sale:

1 2.7yo boy. Goes by the name of Freddie.

Good points: Sleeps all night, eats well, in process of potty training, cute and has gorgeous hair.

Bad Point: says "why?" 1000000000000000 times a day.

I honestly could scream. If I here why once more I might lock myself in the bathroom. I know it is how they learn but god it's annoying.

LOL

DS has always asked 'what doing?' but is now graduating to 'why', he's a bit older than freddie, but not much.

I explain as much as I can, but some of the questions can't be answered, I swear! I just try to distract him with cbeebies toys etc as I can only assume his brain isn't being engaged enough, so has gone into hyperdrive!

Sympathies, but ing too!

His most recent thing is asking where things come from. Like the paper, so I say co-op, so he says which one, so I say the pickering one and then he says which Pickering. It will go on and on until I give up.

OP posts:
Report
Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/10/2009 13:54

Have you tried turning the questioning back on him e.g.

Which co-op do you think it could be?
How many pickering co-ops do you think there are?
Where would you buy the paper from?

Or, answer the question then run straight into a change of topic e.g.

From the co-op at Pickering. Now what are we going to make with the play-dough / watch on telly / which jigsaw shall we do / etc

Or, you enter into a 'silly' round of answers...

DS will say, "what doing mummy" (when I'm say, driving the car), I'll respond:

Flying a plane
he says 'no' and giggles
Painting a picture
Riding a horse
Picking some flowers
Sailing a boat
Catching flies
Watching a film
Stroking the dog
etc etc - He loved that game at your DS' age. Its great for their vocab and imagination too.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/10/2009 13:55

Sorry, pressed post too soon

The point of the second game, is that it kind of 'answers' their need for verbal interaction, rather than moving their attention to something they can't interact with - hence great for vocab and imagination.

packing? What's that then? Oh, you mean what I should have been doing since Monday but haven't had chance to yet because of MN and shopping?

I do have a very real excuse though, have yukky cold, and all the boys have one, and DH. Suppose it's better for us to have them this week than next though! Wouldn't fancy moving house with horrible colds all over the place!

Having said that, DS1's party is the day after tomorrow, not sure what's worse, moving house, or kid's parties...

CONGRATS IDOB
Welcome Caitlin!!
Gorgeous name and great weight

Gruff - hope your following STT advice and feel better soon. How about a chocolate brownie (or ten?!)

STT - won't be long!

Tink - I'd go if I were you.

Went to the baby cinema today and saw new animation "Up". V cute and clever. O was watching intently for a large chunk and let out a really large giggle at one point that then made the rest of the people in the cinema laugh

Star - thanks for your encouragement re sleep. He managed ok last night (with usual feeds & wakings) til 3.30am but then wouldn't settle back in cot so brought him into bed from 4.30am.
