Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Good luck DA - hopefully little one will be safely here soon. My EDD seems like ages away - everyone keeps asking "are you getting fed up yet" - but I'm not. Despite the heartburn and the pain now when walking, I love being pregnant and baby can stay there as long as she likes (I imagine I'll feel differently in a few weeks!)

Had mw appointment last week with different mw. She says that beacuse my blood pressure is high I won't be able to have baby in midwife unit. I don't think bp is particularly high, and I have no other risk factors. Have to go back on Thursday - hopefull will get regular mw nad can ask her about it.

Oooh, how exciting littlepea!

HumphreysCorner · 22/09/2009 15:58

devils-will be later today or tomorrow.

littlepea-wow, a definite date, how exciting.

hackney-when I had my contractions every 8-10 mins on Sunday night I was in a panic as it is so lonely at 3am. But yes, I did realise it wasn't quite the real thing that time.

Keep thinking I am leaking water as things feel damp but must be imagining it.

Laters!

Hi all feeling really awful today light headed, tired, heartburn and very short of breath. Even just sitting here typing struggling to breath normally.

Booked an appointment with dr as the surgery is at the end of my road, so much easier to get to than going to the hospital with ds. Dr. was crap. All i wnated him to do was check my urine and bp as i have very swollen feet and fat fingers so with the other symptoms just wanted to rule out pre eclampsia as i wont see the mw again until Tuesday. Had to ask him the results (which he didn't actually tell me or put in my notes, just said they were on the higher end of normal) I think from what i saw (he took it four times) it was 143 or 48 over something. He said it was quite a bit higher than it's been through my pregnancy after looking at my notes and to get it checked in the morning, by the MW I think he thought i was basically wasting his time.

Called one of my midwives who is coming over tomorrow morning.

Feeling sorry for myself and just want to go to bed. Just need dp to get home.

DA- how exciting keep us posted!
littlepea- how exciting the 5th is my due date, who knows if he's on time then our LO may share a birthday!

sammysam · 22/09/2009 17:18

Wow DA and littlepea-not long to go now!

I have another reason not to have the baby too soon-a friend has just split up with her fiancee-she is in a state so i'm going round tomorrow night......

Nearly all is ticked off my list now-though I keep seeing more i'd like to add to it. I have been going so craxy with the nesting that my mum is worried i'm overdoing it so is coming down to help me tomorrow! So hopefully by the end of tomorrow the list should be complete-except for the wedding stuff!

Can't believe my due date is now in days not weeks-and only 5 at that how the hell did that happen?????!!!!

Caterer is coming round in a min so better go....

Good luck DA if it hapens tonight

devilsadvocaat · 22/09/2009 17:29

oi you lot calm down!
cramps have eased off now although still losing plug and blood. expecting to be about 5 pounds lighter (tmi) lol! although there is no way i'm going anywhere near scales now.

however, just incase i do go into labour have dusted, done all washing and ironing, cleaned litchen cupboards, skirting boards, changed bedding, hoovered and tidied up the garden

this baby needs to wait for the carpet to be fitted as all the tacks are exposed going up the stairs which isn't very safe for ds (or me!). also didn't realise dh's school need a matb1 form for paternity leave. my gp is trying to sort out one for tomorrow. d'oh.

feel really tired, thanks for all your well wishes.

hooray lilpea you can start the countdown now

HappyTangerine · 22/09/2009 17:31

Just popping on to wish devils all the best-v exciting, it looks like you're going to be next!

LittleMissBliss sorry to hear you are feeling so rough, glad mw is coming to see you.

princessmel congrats on getting a date, you can get all organised and excited now!

hackneybird have had so many "is this it" pains and moments in the middle of the night that I'm not sure I'll believe the real thing when it happens now. I just walk around for a bit and if it goes, get into a huff and try and get comfy again.

newbee-hope you're ok after your scare

Sorry to anyone I've missed and to everyone feeling rough, hope we all feel better soon. Still full of cold/flu/ whatever it is here and slept through most of yesterday until bad cramping and BH woke me up last night. I've not moved much from sofa, I feel to weak. Noah(our new pet name for the ark building neighbour ) has given the woodwork a rest today but as I speak, he is outside electronically locking and unlocking his car (complete with beep beeps each time). He has been doing this for the past 15 minutes-methinks he has too much time on his hands.

Treats · 22/09/2009 17:31

devilsadvocaat - everything crossed for you. Get lots of rest and try to stay calm. I know I couldn't if I was you though......

littlepea - how exciting to have an actual date! Make the most of the next two weeks.

Still seems a long long way away for me, although I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow. Got a breastpump in Boots for half price yesterday, so now have everything I need. Just hanging around waiting now. Had a bit of heartburn today, but not doing too badly.

hi to CalypsoFlame - really enjoyed our lunch date earlier and look forward to catching up again when our LOs can join us!!

rubyslippers · 22/09/2009 17:32

am really chuffed Mossop

sammysam - exciting for you as well!

Now, i am worried having ready LMB's post

my BP today was 137/88 which is higher than my regular BP readings which have all been lower

also trace protein in urine and some swelling but minor

MWs won't be available now ... hmmmm

HappyTangerine · 22/09/2009 17:34

sorry, sorry message for princessmel was meant for littlepea, I can barely construct a sentence today.

kowaikiwi · 22/09/2009 17:49

Hi all, haven't been on for a while and have just caught up on the new thread. I probably don't need to mention how you are all such a comfort because we're all going through similar things. You really don't feel like going into it all when friends/family ask how you're feeling - great to vent to a computer, and then get a response!
So excited for devilsadvocaat and jealous at the same time. I'm 37+3 (the days are so important at this stage!), due on the 10th Oct, but I'm already planning to start doing all of those things you should try probably at the end of next week to encourage baby.
We don't know what sex it is, therefore names have been a bit of a struggle - I think we may have decided on a boy's name, but have a few options for girls - oh the pressure!
I'm not sleeping due to hip pain either, I hate the thought of bedtime and moved down onto the couch this morning in order to get an hour. I'm just thankful it goes away when I stand up and walk around a bit.
I have one more antenatal class on Friday, a short trip to mothercare on Thurs to spend vouchers from work then I'm ready as I'll ever be...bring it on (please?)

Oh, for anyone who is struggling cooking anything but wants to be prepared, I've just discovered this website/shop - looks absolutely brilliant and I've been told it all tastes good too! www.cookfood.net

Good luck to you all.

KleineMaus · 22/09/2009 18:54

Very excited for Devils and a little jealous. I feel like I'm late already as DS was a week early and I've passed that point now. DH has made me promise not to go tonight as he has an important meeting tomorrow! I'm now seriously grumpy - poor DS who has been driving me crazy although he's just being his usual sweet if a little boisterous self. Just wait until the post-birth hormones hit! Poor DH - a colleague has just had a heart attack (poor man!) and this is going to seriously increase his workload and might threaten his paternity leave - boo!

I've started feeling nauseous, particularly in the evenings and I keep thinking it might be the start of something, but so far nothing...

idreamofbeanie · 22/09/2009 20:31

Hi all,

can I join all the folk feeling excited things seem to happening for a couple of us but very too. I'm now 39+2 and have no signs anything is happening here, not a single twinge to get excited about . The baby hadn't engaged at all when I saw the midwife last week so I have been bouncing on my ball and going for long walks since then - the only result I can be sure of is that my SPD and heartburn are 10 times worse and my pelvis now aches constantly. I'm trying to convince myself the bump has dropped bit but I might just be kidding myself. I know I'm not even overdue until Sunday but almost all of my NCT class have now had their babies and all but one were pre-39 weeks so I had convinced myself she would be here by now. I'm trying to relax and enjoy the rest but I'm just fed up of being uncomfortable, sore and hormonal and I'm feeling really sorry for myself.

Sorry for the big whinge, just needed to offload somewhere people could hopefully sympathise and not just tell me to appreciate the peace as I won't have all this lovely free time when the baby arrives - probably right but still makes me .

sammysam · 22/09/2009 21:11

Hugs to everyone-for all the various reasons

Just a quick one-what are everyones dp/dh's doing re paternity leave? Are they taking 2 wks straight off or something different? I'm not sure how we'll cope on so little money for 2 wks -how do they expect people to be able tolive on that?!!!!

Had great meeting with the caterer tonight-much much cheaper than other quotes so think he's our man! One more thing off the list

Off to bed in a min....with my lovely heartburn!

saraheb · 22/09/2009 21:56

wow I don't check online for a few hours and suddenly its a very busy thread.

littlepea congratulations on your date

da sounds like you won't be too long

sammysam try not to do too much - take time to rest

I'm already getting fedup of people saying 'oh have you not had it yet'. I still have just over 2 weeks to go!

HappyTangerine · 22/09/2009 22:45

Idreamofbeanie I totally sympathise, I've had enough of waiting as well. A couple of ladies from my antenatal class have already had their babies - and I was the earliest due date there . Impatient, breathless and tired.. And I'm also getting the "Enjoy the peace/you won't know what tiredness is until you've had this baby etc etc." I've just about managed to stop snarling when I hear that one-most of the people that say it are aware that I was driving down to London at 2am and getting home at 10pm, 3x times a week for 2 whole years and was waaay beyond tired for most of that.

Are long walks supposed to help? I'll give it a go but my ankles seem to swell at the drop of a hat at the moment so can't go very far. Resurrected the exercise ball so will start bouncing on that and have hit the rasberry leaf tea/capsules.

sammysam meeting with caterer sounds v productive, did you get to do some tastings? I think you should-all in the name of research you understand . Glad it's not just my nausea/morning sickness and heartburn back although it feels a bit like a cruel joke at this late stage!

ruby good luck with the reflexology

KKKaty-re the carpal tunnel, try a wrist brace, your gp can prescribe one. I have to wear one intermittently (I used to do a lot of rock climbing and have broken both my wrists twice) and find them to be a big help at night. Its my right hand thats worse as well in this pg, I've had permanant pins and needles in my thumb for the last 5 weeks!

I think it was a thread on mumsnet I read where someone had a great comeback for the "Any news yet?" endless questions. Whoever it was got fed up and started saying "Yes, I can see the head" to anyone that asked. Think I might try that out on my mum tomorrow...

One last thing-a reminder to keep up with the pelvic floor exercises (because I keep forgetting) x

HappyTangerine · 22/09/2009 22:49

sammysam-forgot to say-DH taking 2 weeks off straight away I think, I'll need him there to fend off host the endless stream of visitors. He works for the civil service and they're pretty good about that sort of thing.

hackneybird · 22/09/2009 23:03

Sammysam - my DH is taking two weeks off straight. He gets one week full pay and the other at SMP rate, so is instead using a week of annual leave. I'd like him to take more but as you say, who can live on such a tiny sum?

We're pleased it's all so near Xmas, as he is taking two weeks off then.

idreamofbeanie · 22/09/2009 23:10

Hey HT, glad I'm not the only one sick of waiting. I think the walks are just to keep the baby/my pelvis moving so gravity might encourage the baby down. I'm meant to do anything that "keeps my pelvis open" which is basically not ever sitting comfortably as far as I can work out .

Sammysam - DP is also doing the 1 week paternity followed by 1 week holiday thing. Luckily he gets full pay for that 1 week of paternity leave. We are also lucky his boss has young kids and remembers the early days so he has told him to work from home as much as he likes for the first few weeks so I'm relieved he'll be around a lot. Glad you had a good meeting with caterer!

Littlepea - how exciting (and a little scary) to have a date .

rubyslippers · 23/09/2009 08:41

morning all

another uncomfortable night but nothing to report

DH is having 2 weeks of paternity leave mixed with holiday which means he will get a lot of time off - he is lucky with his employer tho'

had a corking headache last night and woke up with one this morning - probably due to only sleeping 4 - 5 hours per night for the past 5 months

off to reflexology soon, so fingers crossed

have good days everyone and C'MON BABIES!!
