had more of a hows last night, was a bit bloody (red blood). am assuming this is ok? can't remember what happened with ds.

woke a lot in the night, around 3 i had terrible back pains, like period pains. had to get up and take paracetemol nd read for a bit. it seemed to work and i went bck to sleep around 5 i think.

back still sore this morning, don't know if i can handle another few wekks of feeling like this!

am also starving hungry atm. had bowl of cereal before bed, toast in the night and really hungry when i woke this morning. just had more cereal and my stomach is rumbling again

hope everyone is ok this morning x

devilsadvocaat · 22/09/2009 08:00

that should say;

had more of a show last night...

rubyslippers · 22/09/2009 08:30

woo hoo devils - something is happening that is for sure

back to consultant this afternoon and then waiting

not a twinge - a bit of backache, the odd BH

DS was born at 38 weeks so i have prepared myself for this one being the same, but possibly not!

NewbeeMummy · 22/09/2009 08:58

DA fingers and everything crossed for you that you'll be joining the boob soon.

I think red blood is a good thing, but I'm no expert.

After hearing about several of my local pg buddies delivering not only early but quickly, resulting in home births, I am making the OH read all the stuff I have on home delivery just in case.

BTW - is it true that your speed of delivery and how early you are can be passed down from your mum? (slightly worried if this is the case as I was two weeks early, and took only an hour from waters breaking to birth)

HB hoping your feeling ok, sounds like you've got cat like reflexes

Just a quick question has anyone else found themselves being really ill? I'm really battling to hold down any meals at the moment and I'm having to resort to small portions of fruit, I'm slightly concerned as I've actually lost weight in the last week, and I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen....

saraheb · 22/09/2009 09:03

Things seem to be moving now for some, with shows etc. Luckily nothing for me yet - really need a few more weeks for house to be more ready.

I had a bit of a thought about SPD this morning while I was struggling to get out of bed. I know it is basically the ligaments in the pelvis (think this is right - correct me if I am wrong) being so relaxed that the pelvic bone move further apart than is comfortable (understatement here) or 'normal'. Hmm wonder if body is preparing for what it thinks is a 'big baby'. I wondered about testing the theory - how many of you with SPD have been told you are having a big baby or your fundal length measures over your weeks?

Littlepea I solve the problem by going to be waxed every 5 weeks and have done for a while. This Thurs will be my last appointment until (prob just before Xmas). I have the whole lot done - underarm, legs, bikini, upperlip (ever since my DH commented on it many years ago - although now never notices, lol) and eyebrows. Must admit that I am not looking forward to it this time as I will not be able to turn over quite so easily as I have in the past. The lady who waxes me has waxed many pregnant ladies and knows how to get you in a position which is comfortable and in which she can wax you.

I also went to the dental hygienist yesterday so hopefully my teeth will sparkle when I have pictures taken of me with the baby. I'm also going to the optition today as they have been reminding me for ages to have my eyes retested and I realised I didn't really want to have to go after the baby is born.

These are all things that were on my to do list. Now all that is left to organise is the new radiators, electrics, roofers, carpets and carpet cleaning, lighting.... for the attic and babies room which are affected by the building work. Arghh, just when I thought I was beginning to have time to relax I realise how much is left to do. Ah well it will all work out in the end.

Newbeemummy I have lost weight at time during my pregnancy and have been fairly stable in weight - gaining a pound then losing a pound the week after. I was concerned as I have only put on 9lb in this pregnancy but was told not to worry by the midwife. She told me the baby is like a parasite and will get its goodness from you. However, if you are feeling too drained, shaky, tired (more than just pregnancy tired) then you need to eat more. About 10 days ago when I had my urine tested it showed ketones and I was told I was not eating enough. But I was suffering badly from heartburn and was only eating small portions at a time. My midwife suggested tiny portions of bland carbohydrates at 2 hourly intervals through the day. I only managed this after getting some chewable rennie but when my urine was tested last week I was fine again (still taking the rennie and it is helping me to eat again).

Have you had your urine tested? Is it ok? How much weight have you lost? If its only a little and your urine is ok then I would not worry - just mention it at your next appt.

Mossop · 22/09/2009 09:19

Ooh, can't be long til our next birth now, I wonder who it will be - DA?!

I'm really hoping I've still got a while to wait. We're moving house on Friday, so once we're in I can start getting baby things ready as I'm really not ready yet!

HT and Princessmel and anyone else who is feeling ill - I hope you feel better soon.

NewbeeMummy · 22/09/2009 09:46

Thanks Saraheb, have gained nearly 3 stone although the midwife and doctors aren't too concerned about it as I was very underweight when I fell pregnant.

I've not lost more than a few pounds, and my last urine test was fine.

But I've got an appointment on Monday so will mention it then as well.

saraheb · 22/09/2009 10:15

No problem newbeemummy.

I was told the average weight gain during pregnancy is about 2 stone - I was worried about my lack of weight gain. I was overweight before getting pregnant but have not dieted during pregnancy.

The way I look at it is that as long as you eat reasonably healthy and don't 'eat for 2' then don't worry about the weight gain or not. Everybodies bodies are different.

HumphreysCorner · 22/09/2009 10:37

devils-everytime I had a show it was one big mucousy/bloody bogey like blob. You could just ring the maternity ward and ask, I would if I saw any extra blood but I do think the show can happen over several days. Not long for you now.

No more bad twinges here only BH and a touch of backache. Perhaps he is not going to be early as I'm 39 weeks today. Have a hair cut tomorrow and need to make that so I look respectable on those photos.

Soooo, who will be next to join theboob on the other side? Hope those with colds feel better soon, I am still congested over a week later.

Big wave!

39 weeks!!!!!!

sammysam · 22/09/2009 10:39

I just can't keep up !

I'm sorry to all those with scares/worries/colds

I'm a bit coldy too-but nothing too bad-touch wood.

Saw mw yesterday-baby is engaged-she siad it is quite unusual for a 2nd. But has also twisted round the wrong way-bugger! I can't deal with being on hands and knees-have no energy and I get cramp! But really should make the effort-I had such bad pains in my back and legs with dd-really would be good to avoid that......
She told me she thought i'd have had the baby over the weekend-nice of her to tell me can't have it til fri at the earliest-am too busy!!! Have caterer and florist to see plus all the cleaning etc to do

My body is feeling very ready to give birth-the pressure on my pelvic floor is huge and still getting pains etc!

KKKKaty · 22/09/2009 11:15

Hi all

Haven't posted in a while as nothing much to report really. Just generally nesting and trying to get as much organised as possible. Have developed a lovely case of carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand which is a bit of a pain (literally and figuratively) - I'm having enough trouble sleeping as it is without a throbbing hand to contend with. I'm assured it'll go away after the baby comes as it's to do with fluid build up.

Congrats to theboob and I'm looking forward to the next birth announcements!

Just adding myself to the list...

How exciting devilsadvocaat looks like you might be next.Never had as show with either before.

Had really strong pains yesterday morning thought that was it but they stopped after 2 hours. They were bloody painful though brought tears to my eyes and if labour is like that will need all the drugs I can get even though had natural births with ds and dd.Am seeing GP today so lets see if his head is engaged.
10 days to go didnt think Ill still be waiting.Had a curry and fresh pineapple yesterday and nothing so given up now hell come when he wants nothing works anyway. Got nothing left to do but wait am so bored.DD starting nursery tomorrow, she cant wait.

Hopefully there be another baby soon lets see who it`ll be.xx

Sugarkane · 22/09/2009 12:53

saraheb I had SPD with DD and measurements were always normal and she was 7lb11, with this preg I was measured at 44 weeks when only 36 weeks and again I have SPD, so for me there is no relation.

Sorry for all the colds the last ferw days, maybe its a sign to get extra relaxing time in before the birth.

Im thinking about starting my list of things to do before baby comes, but scared at the amount that I have left to finish. Have given DP a lie in this morning on the orders that he does the bathroom floor when he wakes up, so that should be one more thing off the unwritten list.

Like most on here ive been having BH lots of discharge and am on constant tissue and knicker checking sessions in the toilet. No show yet but getting alot of period and back pains so maybe things are moving along. Did try to temp DP last night but he was having none of it as he says he is not ready for the baby yet.

I have a scan tomorrow morning to check the baby weight due to my big measurements so will fill you in on what they think my 44 week measuring baby will weigh, please please keep your fingers crossed for me that its not toooooo big.

saraheb · 22/09/2009 13:01

sugarkane definatley thinking of you for tomorrow. Hadn't realised before but we are due on the same day. Wonder who will be first... [hmmm]

devilsadvocaat · 22/09/2009 13:36

have had cramping all day and feel very tired.
want dh to come home soon to take care of ds.
ds being very sweet though and pretending to give me medicine

princessmel · 22/09/2009 14:08

DA it is happening!!!!!

I am

lol

I am having a huge bh at the moment. Been tight for 20 minutes so far.....!!!

Good luck SK, I bet baby will be average size and you'll be surprised!!!

princessmel · 22/09/2009 14:16

Still tight! I'm finding it hard to breath....!

NewbeeMummy · 22/09/2009 14:31

DA - I fear your carpet may need to wait....
Extremely jealous here too....

PM - have you tried a nice bath and giving your belly a gentle rub? I tend to find that helps with BH

princessmel · 22/09/2009 14:34

LOl to nice bath! I have a 4 yr old here, and have to do school run in half an hour, then off to soft play.....

Still can't breathe properly.....

hackneybird · 22/09/2009 14:35

OMG DA that really does seem like labour - from what I have read and been told Wow, very excited for you.

Thanks all for the kind words about my fall, wrist is feeling much better now and taking more care.

I have a general question - I have read a few posts from a few of you, where you mention getting cx like pains, often in the night, which then ease off and go away after you have taken paracetamol and rested. How do you stay so calm about it? If that happpened to me I'd get all excited and think 'ooh, I'm in labour, this is it, it's happening!'.

Is it that you are able to distinguish between those and the 'real thing'?

BellaCullen · 22/09/2009 14:49

hackneybird not staying calm at all when getting cx like pains thinking thats it,was so p*** off when they stopped yesterday and was in such a foul mood all day and didnt want to see or speak to anyone.Am more calm today and just accepted that it will happen sometime.

DA so of you seems to be really happening now good luck and keep us posted.x
