twinkle and Fidelma Congratulations to you both, lovely names again. Cant wait to hear all about it.

humphreyscorner my birthday is 8th of oct too! Dps is the 9th! I think we'll take the boys to school and nursery and have a duvet day with films and takeout on one day and go for lunch together on the other day.

I went for my antenatal today and waited for over an hour to be told I should have had my bloods done at 30 weeks to check for anti bodies and iron levels. Also one midwife took my blood pressure and urine sample test and then I went for my appointment with another mw 30 mins later only to be told she had forgotten to write it down. All had to be done again.
mw asked if Im normally this huge in pregnancy! Cheek, Im measuring 38 weeks and Im 36weeks, thats not bad really. She also asked why didnt I ask the mw what my blood pressure was as its my body and in this country we never ask these questions blah blah blah.

Anyways now Im very sore.

Sugarkane · 30/09/2009 20:48

Congratulations fidelma

Good luck HC

Still same crampy pains here, right foot the size of a football had it checked today an seems to just be water. I convinced myself Id have a Sept baby looks like I was wrong. went for a walk today, just incase it will get things started but in reality it really wasnt that far as I just cant walk anywhere anymore, Oh well I live in hope.

Oh an if my mum tells me once more that second babies are always early I may hurt her.

Think we are still waiting on a few of the inductions to give us some news, lets hope they are not having too hard a time of it.

Sugarkane · 30/09/2009 20:49

Really sorry twinklegreen I missed your congratulations of my post.

Make sure you get some rest when you can.

CalypsoFlame · 30/09/2009 21:40

Crikey - I get the feeling I've missed out a lot, congratulations must be due to many, will catch up on this week's posts tomorrow

Annalise Francoise was born Monday 28th at home, 1.33am weighing 3.3kg (7.3lbs)

Was a pretty hard, painful labour (22 hours with 4 paracetamol and 30mins of Entonox ) and contractions started coming really intensly lasting over 1min with 2-3mins in between from the very start so I was pretty knackered by the end!

It was a bit unnerving at the end of the delivery, as the baby's heart rate started to slow right down and she got distressed so one of the midwives said that I HAD to get the baby out in the next 2 pushes, 1 push and her head poked out a bit, but I was shaking quite violently from fatigue so the midwives decided that I wasn't going to manage, called an ambulance as back up and got the big scary scissors out and ended up with an episiotomy and 2nd degree tear anyway. But Anna was fine, her APGAR score was 8 at 1min and 10 at 5mins so pretty ace. Unfortunately the midwives decided that as there had been meconium in the waters, which only broke right at the end, that I should transfer to hospital for obs, so spent 2 nights on the post-natal ward, which was a real bummer. So much for my calm, candle-lit hypno-water birth!!

But we are both well and at home now, and whilst at the time I was really disappointed with myself about how badly I coped with the pain (LOTS of screaming and yelling!) despite all the hypnobirthing and yoga practice, I'm actually quite pleased that I didn't cave in and go to hospital and saw it through to the end. It was by far the hardest thing I've ever done but she's really lovely and all in one piece so live and learn

Good luck to all those labouring and look forward to catching up and seeing who share's Annalise's birthday!

Big Kiss XX

Sugarkane · 30/09/2009 22:18

Well done CalypsoFlame and congratulations

HappyTangerine · 30/09/2009 23:30

CalypsoFlame-congratulations! Have been wondering about you and had a feeling that you'd gone into labour. Sounds like you coped amazingly well with a tough birth-and you got your home birth! Well done. Lovely name x

HC all sounds promising, good luck!

We have just driven down the 50mph stretch of the coast road several times in an effort to get the baby on the move. V v v bumpy road and hospital midwife's recommendation so we shall see if it helps. Bless her, my 8 yr old neice is convinced the baby is going to come tomorrow, she can't wait to tell her friends at school she has a cousin.

hackneybird · 30/09/2009 23:43

Many, many congratulations to fidelma on the birth of Connor and to Calypso on the arrival of Annalise.

This is all SO exciting, I can't believe how much I am enjoying hearing about all the wee ones that are finally joining us.

I still have 2 weeks to go with no symptoms at all, (apart from feeling nauseous, does that mean anything?), but I am happy to enjoy being on mat leave for a while and chilling out at home.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you HC, hope that this is finally it for you. Flame and Smallone, I hope you aren't kept waiting for too much longer either.

xx

twinklegreen · 01/10/2009 01:55

good luck HC

Congratulations calypsoflame

Well think I've finally got a few minutes spare to share my birth story!

Just thought it's worth mentioning for all of you who are fed up and are thinking it will never happen. I went to the midwife on Tuesday lunchtime, baby was not engaged, couldn't have a sweep, she was in a terrible position (back to back)no signs of anything happening at all... yet a few hours later I was in labour! So don't give up hope

So anyway, about 10pm I started to feel a bit funny, no cx just felt a bit uncomfortable with a bit of lower back ache, couldn't get comfortable in bed so got up. Was having the odd twinge here and there so started timing them on the internet contraction master. They were all over the place, not coming in any sort of pattern but something about them felt 'real'.

At about 1.30am they started to form a regular pattern starting at 8mins apart then going to 7 mins, it felt like it was taking forever, was undecided whether to disturb my mum. After chatting to smallone decided to go downstairs and make a cup of tea, the walking around must have helped them along a bit as they started to come a bit faster so I rang my mum to come round and babysit and woke up dh to tell him this was it and put my TENS machine on.This was about 3am, mum arrived just before 4am. Rang the labour ward as cx were about 4mins apart, they asked me if I was coping with the pain, said i was so they said to take paracetamol and ring back in an hour. Got off the phone and had a massive contraction which I knew from previous labours was things stepping up a gear so decided to trust my instincts, ignore them and go straight in.

Got to hospital at 4.40, it was very busy, nearly didn't have a room for me. fortunately one had just finished being mopped down Quite calmly filled in all the paperwork in between contractions. When the midwife did an internal she was looking a bit puzzled as she couldn't find my cervix, said that it might be because I was fully dilated but I didn't seem to be in enough pain for that she went to get someone for a second opinion, with next cx knew I needed to push so got dh to call the midwife back. It was fantastic, she just let me get on with it, stood at the bottom of the bed occasionally telling me that everything was going well and the baby was coming nicely (in my other two labours I've spent the whole pushing time having orders barked at me!)She just let me do what felt natural, I managed to pant the head out so didn't tear, Amelie arrived at 5.40am exactly an hour after I got to the hospital, so made the right call to go in when I did.

They had delivered 12 babies in the labour ward since midnight, one lady had to deliver in the coffee room as there were no beds!! So was lucky to get a room.

Came straight home. I feel great, just a bit achy, it was a relitavely easy birth, although I may not have agreed with that when I was pushing her out .

Good luck everyone, hope things go smoothly for you all too

littlepea72 · 01/10/2009 06:11

Well done to all the new babies & the mothers!! Everyone is moving fast fast fast! And good luck to those who are getting there real soon.

Twinkle i swear you have had the best labour yet! Oh to be that lucky!

For all those new mothers, how are things going? Are you tired etc, or is it going great??? xxx

I go in on the 4th, so i hope to stay ok untill then, i have pains etc, but nothing to bad. My son has just been asked to stay off school for a couple of weeks (what timing!) as they need to get special help in for him. He is very hyper-active & needs one-to-one teaching. Its getting very tiring having a 5 year old 24/7 doing the wall of death around the house. But there are 8 different people flying in from the UK on the 13th Oct for a meeting, to look him over, and to get the help he needs. Its only taken me a couple of years to get him this help . So i hope we are there at last. On the bright side.....no more school run this week!

HappyTangerine · 01/10/2009 07:18

Twinkle thanks for that, you've given me hope! What a great birth story.

littlepea glad you are finally getting some help for your DS, it sounds like it's been quite a battle. Get as much rest as you can.

Got 3 hrs broken sleep last night after my bumpy ride down the coast road. Couldn't sleep in the bedroom as we gave the room another coat of paint last night (perfectionist me kept finding patches so had a strop and redid the whole lot ). Had a very vivid dream that I was on here reading smallone's birth story and was very envious so Smallone, hope this is a good sign!

Like some of you, I have the very swollen right ankle/foot-I wonder why it's mainly the right? Got it checked at appt yesterday and it seemed to just be fluid. I have an old injury there from a rock climbing accident so it's not great at the best of times but it's like a football at the moment-have split one of my favourite shoes. Can't walk very far though which is frustrating. Am going to bit the bullet and go into Liverpool for some retail therapy, hopefully the walking about will help and I'll be off to Lush which always cheers me up.]

Sending positive vibes to everyone today, especially those with appointments and for whom things have started x

rubyslippers · 01/10/2009 07:39

twinkle - great story! Really lovely ... well done

calypso - huge congratulations! i love the name ...

hope you are both enjoying your babymooons

HC - hope the reason you aren;t around is because you are in labour!

so, 1st October, lots of babies due for us all. am due Sunday so can only hope am one of those women whose baby actually arrives on their due date!

felt crampy last night and a couple of whopping contractions but nothing ...

love to everyone

xx

lixanismapolium · 01/10/2009 07:59

WOW! Congratulations everyone! It's certainly all happening now.

Had to go to hosp yesterday for baby to be monitored for a while as I can hardly feel her moving any more. They said she is still moving lots but must have moved somewhere that I can't feel it ... surely there's not many places she could have gone? ANyway, I have to be a bit more diligent with the kick chart and if I'm not getting 10 kicks per day I have to go in and be monitored every day.

So of all of you with beautiful little babies already. Really hoping to join the list soon!

Neon · 01/10/2009 08:33

Congratulations to all those with new arrivals! Such a lovely thread [wub]

My bubs is moving around a lot - I thought engaging last night but seems to have moved again this morning to my right side back where has been for ages. Not sure what's happening really but no twinges.
Had been reading and hearing so many scare stories about birth but the ones in this thread have given me so much hope! And spoke to my Mum yesterday also and she relieved the terror/state I had got myself into!

01 October - I can't believe it!

LittleMissBliss · 01/10/2009 08:35

Gosh!

Good luck HC! Hope you are holding your baby boy now!

twinklegreen that poor woman delivering in the coffee room. Sounds like a very busy maternity ward!

Finally got some more sleep last night ds feeding 2-3 hourly instead of 30 minutes- 2hourly! Think my milk has settled down allot which has helped.

Mw weighed Marley yesterday and he had put on allot of weight, she was very impessed. He was already past his birth weight by day 5, also his cord fell off yesterday. So now dp may change his nappy. He's fine changing ds1's but was freaked out by the cord stump said it made him stomach turn! What a wuss.

Hope all you new mums are enjoying sniffing your new babies and feeding is going well.

Cant remember who suggested freezing breast pads? But thank you they worked a treat, tried expressing some milk off in the bath when i was engorged which didn't really work. But patting a frozen pad around the breast really helped to soothe them. Luckily I only had one day and night of engorgement and fountain like leaking from the breats i wasn't feeding from.
jules888 · 01/10/2009 08:41

Congratulations Mrs Kitty , Fidelma, twinklegreen and calypsoflame on the biths of your lovely angels.

Not much happening here still hot in Greece, Mum & Dad here till 11th, friends arrive sunday and stay till the 18th so hopefully would have had the lo before then..

Due date 8th, most roads in Greece are bumpy (where we are any rate) and they definately have an effect but nothing serious yet.

Bump a lot lower now and not as active, but active enough.

Can't wait for the big day to come and inspired by the great birth stories. Good luck to everyone!

NewbeeMummy · 01/10/2009 09:20

Hello and welcome andrea

Congrats MrsKitty, CalypsoFlame, fidelma and TwinkleGreen - so happy to hear about your arrivals, and what a fantastic choice of names.

Hoping that not hearing from HC means she's got her little bundle of joy.

Sitting here @ 37+1 so very jealous, starting to wonder what to do with myself with the remaining 3 weeks. Normally keep myself so busy at work, that I have to restrain myself from checking my emails. Currently have a months worth of groceries spilling out of the pantry cupboard, have a freezer full of frozen pre cooked dinners. The house has been cleaned top to bottom (twice) - maybe I shouldn't have rushed to do all of this stuff...

Also just found out I can't use my mothercare vouchers I got from work online, so will have to make a trip into town but at least it gets me out of the house.

The 21st seems like forever away, so nice to see that there are others due late October.

BellaCullen · 01/10/2009 09:32
