Congratulations LMB!. Love the name. xx

sammysam · 26/09/2009 18:54

!! Congratulations LMB and Devils!!! Starting to feel a bit cheated as you were all due a while after me but I'm sure this baby will keep me in suspence and cause me trouble by trying to be as late as it can-better not cause me too much stress re the mw threatening no homebirth

Names are gorgeous btw!

I'm getting so excited now ......who will be next?!!

BellaCullen · 26/09/2009 19:05

CONGRATULATIONS Devilsadvocaat and LittleMissBliss lovely names and great you`re both home to enjoy your babies.

Nothing happening here been tidying and cleaning all day hoping it may start things but no of course not,at least flat`s tidy.

Flamesparrow great to see you back here feeling like you just want baby out and whining to anybody who`ll listen got 1 week to go or 3 if late.

Newbeemummy good for stopping work you can relax now and just wait for baby to arrive.

wibblydibs all the best for your induction am , wish they`d just induce me would stop the waiting game.

HappyTangerine · 26/09/2009 19:15

Congratulations LittleMissBliss, and welcome to the world Marley)

Welcome back and congrats again Devils, good to know you and Charlie are doing well.

Wibblydibs - I think you will be next

NewbeeMummy yay for you finishing work, now you can relax and anticipate!

Very little going on here, there's a an airshow in town and the baby has been going nuts every time a plane goes past so very active but no sign of him coming out. Have been doing lots of nesting/cleaning and am off for a long walk to the beach tomorrow. Mum and MIL v nervous about the beach walk, they think I'm going to go in to labour in the middle of nowhere like Maria in Corrie (tis the same beach minus the convenient shack they put there) but I'll do anything to get moving at the moment!.

theboob · 26/09/2009 21:03

congratulations LMB, beautiful name cant wait to read the birth stories

twinklegreen · 26/09/2009 21:05

Congratulations LMB and Devils.

Who will be next?? Me I hope! I'll be checking for more exciting news tomorrow

fidelma · 26/09/2009 22:04

congratulations Littlemissbliss Wibblybids we have pretended that it was DS birthday to suit us it worked a treat, enjoy.

Sadly everything calmed down here although loads of pink discharge (TMI) I think from the sweep.

However I am feeling very calm and in a good place. Sleep well.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 26/09/2009 22:14

Thought I best pop by and get myself on the list. Hope everyone is ok. I am having regular Braxton Hicks and can't walk far without backache / low down pains. Currently obsessing about changing bags but have loads to do at home too before the baby arrives (if I can get off sofa!).

Hope everyone is doing well.

Got the bed to myself tonight, DH and DD are camping in the tent in the garden tonight. Just hope I don't go into labour, I'd hate to have to wake her up to bring her back into the house.

Ohmani · 27/09/2009 03:52

Congratulations LMB! Another boy and another great name.

I went to my doctor's appointment yesterday and she assessed my scars from previous episiotimy and 3rd degree tear and strongly advised me to have a c-section.... so am booked in for 29/09/2009. If anyone is updating the list can they add me to it (we're having a boy!)

Cried all the way home as I'm both excited and scared. Never had a c-section before - had fairly easy natural births with previous 2 DCs.

So, bit of a sleepless night for me!

Good luck to all

Ohmani

littlepea72 · 27/09/2009 06:20

LMB...well done!! Good to see you & baby are well and at home again xxx

Ive not been able to sleep much, in so much uncomfortable pain. Not contractions (i think), but just pressure pain the whole night. Im going to take some paracetamol & hope it goes away soon.

Ohmani...dont worry about the c-section, its over before you know it, and it sounds like its the more safe option for you & baby.

princessmel · 27/09/2009 10:18

CONGRATULATIONS LMB!!!!!

Another boy woohoo!!!!

Well whatever I thought was starting has stopped !
My friend seems to think its thrush too as she gets 'tea' coloured dishcharge with that aswell. Oh bums!
Had periody type feelings yesterday and managed a big sleep in the day. That's rare for me.

Dh and I went to a party last night and I felt SO FRUMPY. Even though people said I looked lovely, blah blah, I don't feel it!!
My friends looked so vampy and modern and I felt whale like in my flip flops!

Hope everyone's ok

KleineMaus · 27/09/2009 11:10

Hurray for LMB! I wonder how HC is getting on... Today is my due date and there ain't nothing happening, not even the slightest hint of a contraction. Boo! We've tried the curry and even sex (sorry for tmi). Do I have to go out and buy some castor oil now - bleugh!

DH has just invited his parents over for lunch without asking me first, so now I have to think about what I'm going to cook for them. I hate it when he does this. I was hoping he'd take DS off somewhere so that I could clean the house - I'm in serious nesting mode, which I'm hoping is a good sign. I'm now trying to second-guess the baby as to why it doesn't want to come out yet. Is the house not tidy enough yet (probably), does it not like the names we've chosen for it (possibly, nobody else has been wildly enthusiastic at least not in RL, not that it's put us off ). I don't want to have to take DS to playgroup tomorrow and have all the other mums making 'still here?' comments. Especially as I told them on Friday I wouldn't be here on Monday . Sometimes the baby feels so low down that I'm practically scared to go to the loo, but then it moves again. It's just too happy in there, isn't it...

Anyway, good luck to everyone. It's great to hear all the birth reports coming in.

hackneybird · 27/09/2009 11:58

princessmel I feel like that too. I turned down a muhc coveted ticket to a work related awards do this week as I couldn't face trying to cram my massively swollen feet into nice shoes.

I'm 37+3 today, so am quite content to hold on for a little while longer - I onlt ibnly ust finished work so I need some time to just be me. And finish sorting out the flat of course.

Although I am in a lot of discomfort, I want some sofa time!

HumphreysCorner · 27/09/2009 12:09

I am still here ladies and right fed up and hormonal. Things keep starting and stopping too but not due until Tuesday. Never reached a due date before so will cry if I do and will sympathise with everyone that has ever been overdue. Busying myself, when I can move about that is with washing the cot bedding even though I shouldn't need it for months as he will be in a swinging crib in our room. Have got the little bath down to wash out too. On my last AN thread I was the 2nd to give birth but it looks like I will be last at this rate!

KleineMaus-that is so unreasonable of your DH and the sort of thing my DH would do but not at the present time. He did it earlier when I had bad sickness and then in June/July time when I had a party every weekend for 3 weeks (2 for DD1 and 1 for DD2) so I did let rip. Hope something happens for you today.

That's all for now, going to make a choc pudding-making the most of the stodge before the diet starts. Oh, and I like watching the Formula 1 which is on now. However, not half as much as I like watching James Jordan on Strictly Come Dancing at the moment. Poor DH is considering changing his hair to be like him.

Love to all and look forward to more announcements.

LittleMissBliss · 27/09/2009 16:06

Congratulations DA! Lovely name! The grandparents nick name for ds1 is Charlie, although his name is Jacob!

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE LOVELY MESSAGES!

HC That's definitely a really good sign. The evening (before my waters broke) i went on a carb binge, same reasoning, i was going to enjoy eating what i wanted whilst i could, good thing i got it in then before it was too late!

My Birth Story-

Well....

As you all know my waters went on the Wednesday night at approx 11.45. Then nothing much on the Thursday besides cramping. The cramping became a little worse Thursday p.m but not real contractions. I began getting mild contraction Thursday p.m 10 minutes apart but by 10.30pm they had slowed to 20 mins apart so went to bed. Woke up at 5/6ish i think ended up on mumsnet and using the contraction counter for an hour contractions were slowing from 8 minutes apart to 10,12,13 etc. So went back to sleep woke up at 7.30 when dp was going to work and decided to tidy and put my face on!
By 10a.m when dp called on his break from work ctx were 5 minutes apart but getting bloody painful asked him to come home. Left for the Hospital at 10.30 arrived at just gone 11. Was offered gas and air as i explained i wasn't coping with the contractions too well, as much as the mw tried to convince me i was . The gas and air was making my breathing erratic so had to give up on that idea! laboured for a while on the bed on my knees with my bump resting against some pillows and my head flopped over the back of the bed. Mw examined me at 11.30 to assess what pain relief i would be able to have. I was already 6cm dilated so she was reluctant to give me pethidine as she was convinced it wouldn't be too much longer and i didn't want an epidural. She went to ask her supervisor who agreed that i could have a reduced dose to take the edge off of the contractions.
After the pethidine i was allot more relaxed i wont lie it still bloody hurt like hell, but i was sedated and could doze off between the pain. My contraction stayed a steady 5 minutes apart through out really so god know what i would have happened if i'd stayed at home to see if the came any closer! The pethidine was great wish i'd had it in my last labour! Made me have some disturbing dreams but nothing that awful just remembered thinking this is weird at the time. I was given an anti sickness with the pethidine so didn't feel nauseous at all.
Had been labouring for 2 hours after the pethidine had been administered and was feeling a strong bearing down sensation with each contraction. But as they were still only 5 minutes apart the midwife was reluctant for me to push. 30 minutes later and i kept on going on about the feeling in my bum with every contraction so the mw realised that they weren't getting much closer together and to push if i wanted to. After the first push she called in the 2nd midwife, 2 contractions later and 3 big pushes ds was born rather quickly into the world even with me panting my ass off!. Johny Cash and that ring of fire oooooow! Ds2 was born with the cord round his neck and arm but was fine and breathing well.

I only suffered a little grazing and a 1st degree tear that didn't need stitching. It was where i tore before with ds. But in that labour it felt like i was being cut so i definitely felt it.

The most surreal thing as soon as ds was born i was really alert and awake the pethidine just seemed to completely wear off and it was like a wash of calm. There is nothing like the euphoria of pushing your baby out and those god damn awful contractions stopping and seeing a little gorgeous person on your tummy!. I had the injection in my leg to deliver my placenta but it was being a little stuborn so had to cough and push it out. Both my attempts were rather pathetic, cue laughing from everyone! lol but i just didn't have the energy at all!

I only had a little grazing and and a small 1st degree tear where i had torn during ds1's birth. No stitches need which is lovely.
We stayed in over night because we both needed to be monitored for 24 hours for risk of infection because of the gap between waters going and delivery. But i would have asked to stay in if not as just wanted some time to chill out and relax with ds.

Felt really great after the birth and Marley was alert and had his first feed 20 minutes after birth and is feeding well. He struggled initially as he had lots of mucus in his system which hadn't been pushed out properly, as he was pushed out quite quickly. That has all cleared now and he has been guzzling and my milk has come in today. It was whilst i was walking through town to get some extra bras as my boobs are much bigger and some vest tops. I popped into work to show everyone the new arrival. But i realised i was really sweating and hot which i remember from last time when my milk came in. I must have stunk oh well.

In short 4 hours of established labour including 11 minutes of pushing, no stitches.

Just to add i agreed to a student dr. watching in and it was her first stadard birth with no complications and she said it really made her want to be a midwife after! She also held ds when he was a few hours old and she looked so chuffed it was lovely!

Boob and Da are you getting really bad after birth pains when feeding? mine are awful still like mild contractions. Much worse than with my first birth. I also felt really achy last night in my back like it was still supporting a bump. That has gone today though. Hope you and your babies are both doing well.

Sorry this is so long it has taken me ages to type as people keep coming over.

OOh i wonder who will be next!

Will catch up when everyone goes home and ds1 is in bed as have probably x-posted allot as have been typing this on and off for three hours!.

saraheb · 27/09/2009 16:57

How lovely to hear from you LMB. Congratulations once again.

Glad to hear your labour went so well. I am amazed you managed to go into town so soon after.

Hope you manage to get rests in between visitors. Take care.

theboob · 27/09/2009 17:15

lovely birth story LMB
had the after pains for a few days but they then stopped, they used to knock me sick , my boobs have now gone smaller as my milk has settled in so what a waste of money on bigger bra's !
congratulations again and is anyone else nearly ready to go?

HumphreysCorner · 27/09/2009 17:35

LMB-what a lovely birth story. I love having pethedine but what you said about the MW not wanting to give pain relief as soon as you want some rings a bell. When I was induced with DD2 she said they will decide when I need it so ended up crying with pain and apologising for being a wuss. When she looked and saw I was 6cm she gave in and I got my pethedine. I was warned about afterpains with subsequent babies but never got any with DD2, don't think I'll escape this time as my backache is chronic now. Infact, having a sherry now to calm me so will toast the 3 babies we have on this thread. Cheers! You shouldn't be trotting round town already.

Laters!

Devilsadvocaat & LittleMissBliss - congratulations - have been so kn**kered this week i havent felt like doing anything after work apart from eat and sleep (and not getting much of that either). Glad I'm not the only one getting emotional - was beginning to wonder what was wrong with me crying at the slightest thing - still, just under 3 weeks of work left and boy, am i counting everysingle day.

good luck to those due this week and hope everyone elses aches and pains are managable

Are cramps normal at this stage? had some last night and they were really quite painful - like period pains!

HappyTangerine · 27/09/2009 19:07

LittleMissBliss thanks for the great birth story. I think I'm still in denial that it's going to hurt -those afterpains sound pretty grim. I had pethadine after a burst appendix and I trhink its wondeful although I also had the spacey dreams.

Ohmani-How exciting to get a date, you'll have your boy here on Tuesday! Wishing you lots of luck.

Kleine Hope your DH saw sense and took you all to the pub

Calypso I remember the trouble you has with asthma back in August, good to hear it's under control now. You're right, it is me that's hypnobirthing and it's been a real struggle these past 2 weeks.Breathing seems to have cleared up now, am sure that its to do with all the spicy foods I'm eating. Was able to listen to hypnobirthing cd again yesterday and today and actually do some deep breathing which felt great.

I've had a great weekend nesting and now I mentally feel ready for the baby and am very relaxed. We decorated the nursery with giant jungle animal stickers last night and had great fun. Finisnhed off the look with some jungle animal draw handles today-it looks like a nursery now. Did loads of washing and ironing to the point where there is barely anything left to wash. Today we've been decorating the bedroom and have been busy painting. I'll sleep downstairs tonight because of the fumes/asthma but a second coat tomorrow and we're sorted. Baby very active but shows no sign of movingso I'll carry on painting things and planting spring bulbs until he's ready to come out!

sammysam · 27/09/2009 19:21

Due day today!

Spent the most fantastic relaxed day on the beach with dd and dp-so actually glad baby#2 hadn't arrived yet-was so lovely to have such a great day just the 3 of us before #2 arrives!

Just niggly pains/mild contraction feelings-nothing major. I think something will happen this week though. Had curry, pineapple, rlt, sex, long walk, but tbh most of those were coincidences as i'm not too fussed when baby arrives (as long as I get the home birth )

Pumped up the birth pool today, dp had mad panic when he realised neither of the tap attachments fitted so rushed off to B&Q to get one that does! Lucky thing! His brither has just been round and they have moved one of the sofas out into the garage so we have the space to fit it. So I think we are ready.....although my cleaning has mainly been all undone so need to start again-though it won't be such a major job this time!

DP is not happy that it looks like he'll be going to work tomorrow

LMB-congratulations again-lovely birth story! Lets hope we all have nice births like that! I'm hoping for a nice short, tear free one

I hope everyone has had a great day-not long to go now ladies

LittleMissBliss · 27/09/2009 21:27

Sorry that read a little funny, I wasn't able to concentrate properly when typing. I was adamant that i would have three days with-out visitors this time but it hasn't worked. Can't really say no to people.

I have to say i am chuffed with my birth so much more positive than my first I would consider a third now where as the first thing i said after my last labour was that ds would be an only child and never again!

In my defense i only live a 10 minute car drive to my town centre and i don't have any stitches or bruising so felt fine to walk also labouring in the day/short labour was so much easier to get back into sync. My boobs were starting to pour out of my bra so definitely needed some more, only got some primark cheap t-shirt bras. So spent less than £10 i think. Will invest in some nicer bras when my milk settles down.
I would def recommend taking arnica whilst labouring and after. Has made a huge difference this time, I took it after last time but not during and feel better for it this time.

The midwife popped into today to check on us both, ds has dropped to 6lb 11oz but she isn't worried. She will be back in 5 days to re-weigh and check up on us, but said she still isn't worried if he hasn't gone back up to his birth weight by then which is re-assuring as some HPs panic when bf babies fail to gain within a week.

MHCB Strong period like pains is how i would describe the start up of both of my labours oooh how exciting, keep us updated!

HC cheers!

Boob How's Madison's sleep pattern is she awake at night and sleeping in the day? Marley hasn't worked out day and night yet. I think it took three days with ds1 but not sure how, or why he decided to change his pattern. I know it can take weeks for babies to get into a good night day routine. But think I'll struggle if i can't crack it this week and dp has to go back to work next week. If you have any tips they would be gratefully received, being a mum of 4 I'm sure you must know every trick in the book.

Also another question if anyone could help, with ds i co-slept from about 8 weeks onwards. He would settle in his moses basket. Marley just wont settle in his basket. so we are co sleeping but my sleep is so light as i'm so paranoid of smothering him as he's so small being so new. Does anyone use a side-cart and would they recommend one?

Right off to bed. Silly Really as i'm sure i will be up feeding every two hours soon. I'm feeding lying down but would love some shut eye for more than a 30 minutes at a time.

boob I think you need to start up a
postnatal thread for me to whinge on!

DA Hope you are doing well, looking forward to hearing your birth story, How is your ds coping with his new brother? Ds (22 months) loves his new brother, wants to hold and kiss him, strokes his face etc. but is a little cross with me, and acting up for us both. It is getting better as the days go on. He has had lots of presents from us and family and LOTS of attention so hopefully he'll settle soon.

KleineMaus · 27/09/2009 22:07

I'm feeling really sick and am hoping this is a good sign, but I have been feeling nauseous on and off for a few days. Also have just emptied DS's bath water from earlier and discovered poo in it! That'll teach me to put too many bubbles in. So glad I didn't wash his hair tonight! Yuk.

Feeling a bit depressed about stretch marks too. I didn't really have any last time and so nearly got away with it this time too. Serves me right for feeling a bit smug for avoiding it last time. Didn't have any a couple of weeks ago and suddenly all over my bump. Does anyone know if bio oil actually works?
