My first thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
princessmel · 24/09/2009 16:44

I remember LisaLisa's thread

Oh don't say that HC!! I was getting all excited!!

Still when I think about it. Oh dear.

devilsadvocaat · 24/09/2009 16:45

oh PM i feel embarrassed for you! don't worry, other women understand these things at least it wasn't a fella who told you!

mw at hosp said it's fine to get in the bath as they will induce anyway after a set amount of time.

went for a walk to the park, still no ctx...

plimple · 24/09/2009 17:00

Hee hee PM, good job she told you. Sounds like she was quite discrete.
Busy making cards and cake for DPs birthday tomorrow which I do NOT want new baby to share.
DA - I hope ctx come soon.

CalypsoFlame · 24/09/2009 17:06

princessmel Heh, whoops. Sounds like the kind of thing I'm prone to do

I'm sorry to hear other labours are stalling too. Mine seems to have vanished into the ether. After all that action last night, can't believe there's nothing now!

Building up some strong quads bouncing on the ball though...

Sugarkane · 24/09/2009 17:07

princessmel I to am 4/5 engaged with my second and the MW said it was a good sign as subsequent babies do not engage until birth, damn these MW building our hopes up.

Devils I have also been previously advised that no baths allowed at hospital once waters have broken because although they clean the baths they may not be perfect, but bathing at home is fine due to own germs etc.

Good Luck to everyone who's waters have gone. Im still period crampy but no further show today so maybe yesterdays bleed was a fluke.

theboob · 24/09/2009 17:14

checking in again......LMB sounds like you could soon be on your way, so now we need to think of a name for post natal thread

COME ON BABIES !!!!!!!

LittleMissBliss · 24/09/2009 17:31

Oooh I hope so took a walk with ds to the post office on his push along trike and that seems to have to got things moving a little more!
Now just about to make myself a big mug of raspberry leaf tea, even though i now really dislike the stuff! Lots of honey me thinks.

DA&HC- Are both your hospitals policies to induce after 24 hours of waters going? Do you both not have to take your temp evey 4 hours with a tempaDOT stick and write it down? My hospital seems to be giving me different advice from you both and are happy to leave you longer to wait for labour, when will you know your induction times, or is it a more of a wait and see?

Hello newbees!

boob very much looking forward to crossing over to the otherside!

devilsadvocaat · 24/09/2009 17:33

feeling spaced out and tired. keep thinking i might be sick.

waiting for dh to finish cleaning the car (male nesting?!) then i can go and lie down for a bit.

HumphreysCorner · 24/09/2009 17:48

LMB-our hospital must be different as they don't like to leave you more than 24 hours and this was confirmed by MW last night. Certainly no temp taking or such like.

Mossop · 24/09/2009 18:06

Ooh, things have got exciting all off a sudden!

I'm worn out this evening. Moving house tomorrow and some ladies have been packing everything for us today. I feel like I've done it all, but I haven't packed a thing (other than what we need tonight!).

Saw consultant yesterday and was told I have gestational diabetes, so need to watch what I eat to try and get my blood glucose back to normal. I was hoping for a home birth, so fingers crossed they'll be ok.

Good luck to all of you with with broken waters and signs of early labour. I'll be really busy over the next few days, so won't be able to check in very often - looking forward to lots of baby news when I log on!

twinklegreen · 24/09/2009 18:07

I can't believe that so many babies have decided to come simultaneously! Good luck everyone .

Well there's definately something in the water because I've also had a show today (which happened the day before both my previous births) and am feeling distinctly crampy tonight. Trying not to get too excited as it wasn't a full show, there wasn't enough gunk for it to have all gone. Just quite pleased that things seem to be going in the right direction

HappyTangerine · 24/09/2009 18:52

LMB-ooh, good luck!

princessmel pmsl at your embarrasing moment, thats exactly thew type of thing that normally happens to me (along with rummaging through my bag for a pen for our parish priest to write with and handing him a Tampax tampon ) At least it was another woman that told you!

Neon welcome

Good luck to everyone whose waters have broken/had shows, hopefully not long now

No sign of anything happening here and I've decided to be a bit more chilled out about it. Yes the ankles are bloody uncomfortable and being breathless plays hell with my sleep and asthma but it won't be for much longer. GP has said I def have fluey illness rather than cold as it has knocked me for six so badly so fluey thing it is and as much rest as possible prescribed. AM getting a little cabin fever but in the meantime, the nesting continues...

KleineMaus · 24/09/2009 19:21

Am very excited and just a little of all those going into labour. I was so sure I'd be early with this one too. Anyway, I can't go quite yet as I've just discovered that the Thomas the tank engine carry case I bought for DS as a present from the baby is the wrong one - it's for metal trains not wooden ones, so I have to get my hands on the right one first. Having said that, my mum is going to take DS tomorrow night and I think DH and I will go for a curry .

Good luck everyone. Keep us posted!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 24/09/2009 19:34

OMG - I can't believe how much you've all posted, can't update fully, it will take forever, so have had a quick skim and it seems we've got some babies on the way very soon

DH is working loads at the moment, trying to get a big project finished before the 30th so no sex / curries etc until then!

I didn't think we'd be ready anyway, but have been super super busy the last few days and have now ticked nearly everything off my list!

Sadly, most of the jobs left to do are for DH (getting stuff down from the attic etc) so they'll have to wait until this project finishes anyway - he was working till gone 3 this morning after having been in work since 8 yesterday, and hasn't come back home yet . I'm just trying to be supportive so that when I really need him, he's in the best shape possible to help me!

Fortunately, DS has turned a little corner and has been much easier the past few days, which is a relief.

Had MW appt today (38+2) and she said baby is still very high, so no point in even doing an internal. So, torn between spending the week trying to get baby to descend (DS never engaged, even though my waters broke, so I was at risk of cord prolapse and birth went from planned home to hospital to emergency c-section) to avoid what happened last time, and staving off till much nearer the due date...

Anyway, DS' bedtime is approaching so will have to scoot - will try to do a better job of keeping up over the next few days!

Oh, and welcome all newbies - I spotted a few names that we haven't seen for a while / before - the more the merrier! Can't wait to hear all the birth stories - nothing like a good birth story to make you all sentimental!

wibblydibs · 24/09/2009 20:55

Hello everyone - not been on for a while but have been keeping up with everything, and very exciting it is too!

I've seen my consultant today and have been booked in for an induction on Monday morning - am flipping terrified as have never been induced before...could really do with some positive induction stories if anyone has any? I'll be 39 weeks so it's not like it's that early - it's DD1's 4th birthday on Tuesday so I feel a bit bad for her as I won't be around

Anyway, good luck to everyone - lots of labour type vibes to those who want them!

HumphreysCorner · 24/09/2009 21:03

wibbly-I was induced with DD2 and it was quick, 4 hours from start to finish and was home 6 hours later. You'll be fine.

HC

lixanismapolium · 24/09/2009 21:22

wibbly - I was induced with DD. Day before due date and it was absolutely fine - not very quick though, took about 28 hours from beginning to birth, so you may have 2 children with same birthday!!!! Definitely no scary stories to tell though so don't worry

fidelma · 24/09/2009 21:42

wibbly my induction with DS1 at 41 weeks was fine.Gel at 8 am big 10lb baby by 10pm. No other intervention.Home by lunch time the next day.I am seeing the consultant tomorrow and hopping for an induction date soon. Why are you being induced and why at 39 weeks ?

wibblydibs · 24/09/2009 21:44

Thanks very much HC and Lix that makes me feel loads better

wibblydibs · 24/09/2009 21:51

Sorry, x-post fidelma - I'm being induced because I've got v bad spd/pelvic girdle issues and can barely walk now

I was booked in for induction with DD2 for the same reason and she arrived the day before I was to be induced - so maybe this one will make an appearance over the weekend!

devilsadvocaat · 24/09/2009 22:04

wibs i was induced with ds

1 pessary, baby 8 hours later, only had peth and gas and air.

you'll be fine

hackneybird · 24/09/2009 22:54

princessmel pmsl at your story - sounds like the mum who told you did it in exactly the right way.

Welcome neon. My own dates say I'm due 11th, although scan dates say 15th.

Thinking of all who are in early stages of labour, really looking forward to hearing your stories!

smallone · 24/09/2009 23:59

Can't sleep. My irritating upstairs neighbour is on the phone, he has the loudest voice and could talk the hind leg off a donkey. For some strange reason he has a habit of making phonecalls from the bedroom which is above ours that last until gone midnight. God knows who he's talking to and why they can't do it at a more reasonable hour. Grrr! Keep telling myself that we'll get our own back soon with a newborn! Ha! At least I won't have to feel guilty about any noise.

I hope some of these babies get a move on in the night! I'll look out for updates in the morning.

littlepea72 · 25/09/2009 05:54

The thread is getting so exciting now, it seems to of started happening all at once, its great! Hope everyone is ok, has anyone ended up going to the hospital last night???

Seen the MW yesterday which did me the world of good. The doctor at the hospital had really freaked me out, talking about how big the baby was etc. He said that the baby would be born with a school uniform on, and wouldnt tell me what size she was, as it would scare me too much. But that i needed the c-section for it to be safe, and that this would have to be my last baby. I talked it over with my MW & she put me at ease.

My MIL wont be able to get over until a couple days after the birth, so we are going to have to take our DS with us. As im getting a general for the c-section, my DH wont be in for the birth, so it should be ok.....i hope!

Princessmel....god that story really made me laugh...sorry! Thank god she told you!

Smallone....i wonder if he is on the phone to some adult chatline! Could be why its in the bedroom & at night??? LOL....A newborn should put stop to that....

Hi to anyone who is new, or anyone who hasnt been on for a while, life has just gone into fast forward LOL....

devilsadvocaat · 25/09/2009 08:05
