I'm so happy for you DA and extremely I've still got 4 weeks to go and it feels like forever.

inahurrymummy · 24/09/2009 13:53

Thanks for all the advice re. geting things going! Will start working my way through them and see what happens.

Fidelma... can totally sympathise having DH who is not at best. Mine has man flu and is having kittens that mw won't let him near labour ward. The suggestion that sex might hurry labour along seems to cheer him up

theboob · 24/09/2009 13:56

oh how exciting !!!!!!!!!
LMB , HC and DA good luck , I will be checking for progress x x x

devilsadvocaat · 24/09/2009 14:07

hello!
just eaten loads of cake in the name of storing up energy

will a bath slow down any progress?

NewbeeMummy · 24/09/2009 14:20

Hi DA I heard baths weren't great if your waters had broken, but I'm far from an expert.

sammysam · 24/09/2009 14:26

Can't take my eyes of this thread for a min......how exciting!!! Good luck everyone
There are going to be some little ones very very soon!!!
Just had my first cup of RLT as we're seeing the florist tonight then after that there is nothing too important....only 3 days til my due date better get something moving as I don't want toget to the point of not being able to have my home birth.....

How exciting!!!!!

Good luck!!!!!

HappyTangerine · 24/09/2009 14:52

LMB and HC not long now, good luck!

devilsadvocaat · 24/09/2009 14:53

hi newbee, i thought that too but the mw at the hosp said it is ok as the bacteria etc in your bathroom is yours iykwim.

can't stand the smell of the amniotic fluid.
it smells a bit like semen

LittleMissBliss · 24/09/2009 15:08

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all positive vibes and messages!

Can't believe the race is on! We are stuck in limbo at the moment though!

Went in last night, drove myself in the end as wasn't contracting, i decided to leave ds and dp sleeping. Really didn't want to disturb ds for a second night.

Well waters went with a gush as i left the house, still leaking now at home.

they monitored the baby and he's fine so asked to be discharged at 7 a.m so i could take over care of ds so that dp could go to work. Very mild contractions like strong period pains every 10 minutes or so. Too low down to be real contractions but can feel my waters leaking when they happen.

Have given the house a once over and cleared the washing basket. MIL is coming to take Ds this evening and will take my ironing too! .

Have an induction date of Sunday 27th at 8.am if i haven't delivered by then but hoping i will deliver tonight or early tomorrow a.m if these contractions actually pick up into something productive. My bump looks tiny now and they predict that this baby will be between 7lb-7lb 7oz. Ds was 7lb 1oz.

Spookly similar pregnancies. No sickness with both. Diagnosed as being anaemic at 20 weeks with both! waters went at 38+4 with ds and waters have gone at 38+3 with this pregnancy both have gone with delayed contractions. If i have to wait until Sunday to deliver they will both have been 8 days early!!!

O MY GOD..... i'm having a baby.... it's just sinking in very exciting thinking by Monday or sooner there will be four of us at home!

DA- baths aren't really advised showers if possible. But if you really want a bath have one without any bubble baths and don't wash your hair to prevent the risk of infection.

I'm off for a walk in the minute all though feel very self conscious with a massive pad on!

Then i have to take my temperature again at 4pm, every four hours now until i deliver, just to check for raised temp as an idication of infection. Make sure i can feel 10 movement in 12 hours and check to see if the waters are still clear.

Wishing HC and DA the best of luck, i wonder if our LO will share their birthday?!

Keep us all posted!

rubyslippers · 24/09/2009 15:12

LMB - i don't think you will last until Sunday

so excited for you - LOL @ emptying washing basket

really hope all goes well for you

my waters never went with DS - they were popped during labour and i never even had a gush ... how do you know when they have gone (ie if you don't have a big pop?)

smallone · 24/09/2009 15:12

Hi DA I've heard that baths can slow things down if you're less than 6cm, and could well have been true for me, but it depends whether you need to rest for a bit. I would say leave it til you really need respite from the pain and then have a go.

fidelma · 24/09/2009 15:15

So exciting babies on the way

Still loads of BH but nothing eles. I have been late with the other 3 so don't know why I am getting my hopes up

Off to take the children to ballet and swimming it is a mad mad night at ours on a Thursday.I will float around in the pool also.

I am really glad that I checked in as it is now hard to keep up.

PUSH

Ps was up in the night eatting and drinking and watching Portland babies

smallone · 24/09/2009 15:17

Oh and I'm sure you'll be fine re infection or you wouldn't be able to have water births once your waters had gone would you? Esp considering you'd be induced if nothing's happening, not like you're going to be weeks iyswim. Much more risky to have lots of internals etc if you ask me.

OP posts:
NewbeeMummy · 24/09/2009 15:23

LOL @ DA's semen comment - does it really?

I'm glad you said that otherwise I may have woken up in the night and wondered what the heck the OH had been up to

devilsadvocaat · 24/09/2009 15:32

yay lmb

Neon · 24/09/2009 15:35

Hi there. Can I join in ? I am due 11 Oct and finished work last week. Can't believe I missed this thread!!

smallone · 24/09/2009 15:58

Hi Neon I'm due the 11th too. Any signs of labour with you? None here, I think I'm destined to go full term.

OP posts:
NewbeeMummy · 24/09/2009 15:58

Welcome Neon, do you know what you're having?

HumphreysCorner · 24/09/2009 16:01

Hi and welcome to the madhouse Neon. Feel free to share everything!

Lol devils-was saying to DH that I knew it was amniotic fluid because of the sweet smell and he said yes, I know as it smells of sex. You are going to be very early aren't you?

LMB-that is a long time before induction. They told me on the phone last night that they make an appointment for the next day if nothing has happened. Didn't know about the bath thing as every labour I have been told to soak in the bath to help ease contractions and this is when my waters have leaked.

Had a gush earlier but might have been wee.

Laters!

Neon · 24/09/2009 16:06

Helloooo Thanks for the welcome!

I don't know what I'm having.

No signs yet smallone - just the occassional pang. I was due the 11 Oct and didn't arrive until the 25th so we shall see! My tummy is hard and full of baby !!!

princessmel · 24/09/2009 16:18

Hello

I have just got back from the MW and am happy! The baby is 4/5 engaged which explains all the pressure down there and in my bum!!
Afaik 2nd or 3rd babies dont always engage so I'm taking this as a good sign

This good news just about, but only just, makes up for the totally awful moment I had earlier when collecting dd from nursery.

I was walking up the long path to the classroom and another mum (who I don't know) ran up behind me and put both her hands on my shoulders, looked me in the eye, and said 'you have something stuck to the back of your top'

I reached round and peeled off a used pantyliner. OMG the shame!!!
I was mortified. I thanked her and shuffled off quickly.
She said 'you wont be pregnant for long...lucky it didn't happen at the busy 3 o'clock schoo run'!!!

How are you with popped waters/cx/shows doing??

LittleMissBliss · 24/09/2009 16:33

Just plucking me eye brows. then will grrom down stairs then think I'm set!

HC- I think they are leaving me so long as i did go into natural labour with ds (in the same situation) with-in a few days although it failed to progress because of his positioning. I'm pretty glad really as i had a really miserable time with my last induction found it very intense. Would really like things to stay as natural as possible this time as long as it's safe.

I think the reasoning about the bath thing applies more when you a leaking but not contracting as labour isn't progressing so the baby is exposed to foreign elements for longer, days instead of hours. Where as if you are already in labour and contracting well then in theory it should all be over soon enough and baby will be out shortly.

Period pains are becoming more intense......!

HumphreysCorner · 24/09/2009 16:34

Oh princessmel-no wonder you are mortified. Never mind eh? My boy has been 4/5 engaged for weeks but still happily there and not in any rush.

LittleMissBliss · 24/09/2009 16:37

x-post!

princessmel Oh that's a little but sure you will see the funny side of it soon!

Reminds me of a funny thread by LisaLisa, involving dirty pants in her ds's lunch bag. May be worth searching think it's classics will def cheer you up! Yay for baby engaging!
