Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

Hi ALL, hope is every is feeling ok, well as ok as you can be during these anxious few weeks before the 12-14 week mark.

i had such a horrible day yesterday with such a severe headache, i was crying with the pain trying everything i could instead of taking a tablet. In the end i had to take 1 just so i could make dinner for my 2 ds's.
Then after a early night i felt so much better this morning up until after breakfast then i felt like dying with the nausea. So ive been nibbling all morning and sipping water trying everything to keep those yukkie feelings at bay.
Luckily DH is off today until sunday so i have someone to give me sympathy. But I've a busy afternoon with afterschool appointments and a stop at MIL to pick up something for my DS, so im hoping i manage to get through the afternoon without giving the game away to MIL. I feel like giving up though and telling her so that i can just lie facedown on her table at every visit for the next 6 weeks

MrsDmamee · 04/11/2009 13:25

*hope everyone is feeling ok

cheekymonkeyno3 · 04/11/2009 13:43

hello all, just wondering how everyone is.

i'm about 7 weeks now and still bleeding (have been for 3 weeks) so sick with worry as well as ms. at my scan last week we saw the heartbeat and they said they have no idea why i'm bleeding so fingers crossed. constantly knicker checking tho and panicking. boobs are agony, ms is a nightmare and so so zzz so hopefully they are all good signs things will be ok- also no pain

has anyone else had any unexplained bleeding?

gizmo · 04/11/2009 14:54

Barack, I have my fingers crossed for you. And you Cadmum.

Funnily enough Inever...I came back from Barcelona about 3 weeks ago (although on a business trip so mostly what I saw was the inside of gigantic convention centre). It's a beautiful city and I'm very jealous: wonder if I can persuade DH that he wants a long weekend there?

Meanwhile I've had a week of lows and highs. Most of my pregnancy symptoms abated on Monday and I paniced by Tuesday morning and rang the local EPU, who sweetly made an appointment for me this morning.

And there is a nice little 7 week old baby, heart chugging away with gusto. I cried. Of course.

And, of course, have now spent the rest of the day feeling like utter shite as 48 hours of delayed pregnancy symptoms all land at once. Don't think work is getting the best out of me this afternoon, TBH.

theperfectbaguette · 04/11/2009 15:17

Hi all,

Haven't posted for a while as I've been horribly busy with work. Still no ms (thankfully?) and was feeling weirdly breathless last week, like I had to keep gulping for air.

Woke up this morning, went to the loo and discovered I was bleeding, slightly which threw me into a spin. Also my boobs dont feel so tender...ahhhhhh. Bleedings stopped now but I called the midwife who booked in for a scan at the EPU for 9am tommorrow morning. God I hope it shows a heartbeat.

Keep your fingers crossed for me

LittleRobbo · 04/11/2009 15:42

madamfreckle do you know its funny you should say that because i had palps with ds2 also, and i did get my thyroid checked,it showed that it was underactive, but not by enough for gp to warrant putting me on thyroxine, perhaps they will test me again? I definately dont panic as much as i used to with the palps (when i suffered from anxiety) but it does bring back the horrible sense of doom,i hope they pass soon.

perfectbaguette fingers crossed and good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good hormonally balanced day today

Celery · 04/11/2009 16:15

Woofie, definately consider a homebirth again.

I had a 3 day first labour in hospital. My next two were both 8 hours long, and both homebirths. I imagine this one will be too.

gizmo · 04/11/2009 16:44

Just to add to what Celery said, Woofie, your first birth sounds rather like mine (although I never intended to actually give birth at home, tbh, just to hang on until the last possible moment). So I had 36 hour labour with epidural, manual rupture of membranes, drugs to strengthen contractions etc.

But my second was 6 hours, start to finish, at home and totally relaxed. So quick, in fact, that I ended up without any pain relief because I was convinced I would need to 'save' the gas and air for when contractions really started to kick in .

Also, it's a bit of cliche, but if you at least start from the idea you're going to have a home birth, it's much easier to transfer to a hospital birth than to go the other way around.

Saucepanman · 05/11/2009 11:00

Oh GOD- why do I feel so shit?! I cannot eat enough to stop me feeling sick, and every day stretches ahead with me trying to fancy something to eat every hour, it's like Groundhog day.

That's all

LittleCM · 05/11/2009 11:05

Hello All,
It's exciting to see there're other mums who are due about the same time as me (24June). It's hard to keep the excitement to myself, apart from those close. This is my first! I heard you're not suppose to say anything after 12 wks. Well! excitement with confusion really! I get mixed messages about what I like n don't like to eat. I find myself eating lots in the morning and couldn't really face any evening meals!

Saucepanman · 05/11/2009 11:16

Oh and I have to go to he supermarket in a minute, barf at smells!

herewegrow · 05/11/2009 11:17

Saucepanman sorry to hear how sick you're feeling.

How is everyone else?

My DD is slowly getting better (yay!) I do feel so sorry for her when I'm pulling her about giving her medicine, eye drops and trying to get her to take the inhaler but by this time next week all her symptoms should have gone and all her meds will be finished.

Think I am mending too, not feeling quite as sorry for myself which has got to be a good sign although by 7pm last night it was all a bit much and I was close to tears (hormones me thinks!!). So we ended up with sarnies for dinner as I couldn't deal with making dinner.

DD is having a nap so might treat myself to a little lie down too

gizmo · 05/11/2009 11:20

Oh dear, SPM, are there any smells you could tolerate? Any essential oils in the house? I find herby 'sharp' things like rosemary or lemon can be quite good for blocking barftastic scents like fish.

Hell, LittleCM, hope we're not all putting you off!

Celery · 05/11/2009 11:40

Saucepanman, I feel your pain. Sleep is the only thing that helps, although I'm waking up in the night feeling nauseous too. I wake in the morning filled with dread that I have to get through another day feeling like this. I keep driving five miles into town specifically to buy an M&S ham cheese and pickle sandwich because it's the ONLY thing that will make me feel better, if only for half an hour. I despair that I have atleast another 5 weeks of feeling like this. I remember why I said no more babies after no. three ( this was an accident, and right now not a happy one ). I want to punch my friend who has had 4 babies with no symptoms who said to me the other day "maybe it's all in your mind?"

This is the worst feeling, I would rather give birth 10 times over.

Celery · 05/11/2009 11:44

Apologies, littlecm. Welcome to the thread, I hope you are feeling well .

Lots of people don't tell anyone before 12 weeks but really I guess it's up to you. I'm telling everyone.

ELM · 05/11/2009 12:14

Hi all,
secrets out for me - work have have to move me closer to loo so I don't break my neck getting there when being sick
Gave up and went to the doctor for the sickness. He gave me a prescription which I have so far manageed not too take.
Especially after DH said he'd rather I didn't.... 'I'm sorry - but you're not the one with your head down the loo 12 times a day and not able to keep even water down same to your friend celery!
DS1 keeps asking 'mummy are you sick?' Bless him.

So Celery/Saucepanman - you have my sympathy!
theperfectbaguette how has your scan gone this morning? Fingers crossed for you.
cheekymonkeyno3 hope you're ok.

Have my 1st scan next Wed. Really worried about it - far more worried than I was with DS1.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

fillybuster · 05/11/2009 12:54

ELM/Saucepan - sorry you're both feeling so sick...I'm getting huge waves of nausea but haven't actually been sick yet. Having said that, I'm only 8+2 and I don't think it kicked in much ahead of this with dd, so there's still time!

I'm exhausted, and keeling by 7.30 when I put the kids to bed, but then not being able to sleep properly at night at all....most nights I'm awake and feeling sick from 3-5 at the moment, and my sciatica has kicked in really painfully which is soooo not helping My friend suggested I mention it at my booking in appt in 2 weeks as apparently my hospital have a really good physio who can help...so I am going to try very very hard not to forget!

Got my scan date, it will be 12+3...but that's not until dec 3rd, which feels like a very long time away right now.

BOTV & Cadmum - hope you're both doing ok?

Gizmo and Cheekymonkey - so glad the scans were positive

Woofie - I hate to buck the trend, but my first birth was a marathon (sorry LittleCM and other first timers!!) complicated 28 hours....I kept telling myself that 2nd dcs were faster....I suppose it was, fractionally, at 26 hours but no less complicated. Although I managed to avoid the induction second time (and yes, we can all discuss induction avoidance tactics in about 6.5 months from now!! ). So I guess it depends...both of my dcs were back-to-back, hence the painful and slow process and I've resigned myself to the 3rd one being exactly the same, but I certainly wish you better luck with yours

theperfectbaguette · 05/11/2009 14:58

Hi all,

Thankfully the scan went well today, despite another little bleed this morning. Baby's measuring at 7 weeks 3 days, and could see the heart beating away.

They said no obvious reason for the bleeding and not to worry unless it gets heavier and I have cramping, which was all reassuring. So I trotted off clutching my little scan.

Had my booking in meeting with the midwife too this afternoon, she seemed really nice. All in all a thumbs up. So I treated myself to a bit of carrot cake and coffee and then fianlly told my parents this arvo that I'm up the duff. They're vvvvvv excited.

Sorry to hear others are feeling so sick. ELM sod what your husband says take the medication!

greensnail · 05/11/2009 15:22

Hi all

Great news on your scan theperfectbaguette and glad you're feeling reassured. I had lots of bleeding in the early weeks when pg with DD and she turned out just fine! Things seem to be more straightforward this time round which of course is good, but i must admit i'm missing the extra scans!

grr at MrELM and celery's friend, i do wish people could keep their mouth's shut if they have nothing useful to say.

I just can't stop telling people that I'm pregnant at the moment, which is fine but DH is really funny about telling anyone before 12 weeks so I'm having to tell everyone to keep it quiet from him!

Also, really excited as DSIL gave birth this morning to a little boy. Sounds like she had a much easier time than with their first one which is great news. Can't wait to see some photos now

BarackObamasTransitVan · 05/11/2009 16:23

Oh thank goodness, theperfectbaguette. Do all antenatal threads start off with so much drama in the first weeks?
I'm OK but still not about to put my name back on the register, as it were. I've been bleeding a fair bit the last couple of days so I'm still not hopeful, despite last Monday's scan. TBH I think I was rushed in and out (scratch that - I know I was rushed in and out) which wasn't their fault as such as they were insanely busy, but even so, I'm just not convinced.
I think I'm going to stop by at the EPU again early next week. This is nuts!

madamefreckle · 05/11/2009 21:55

Oh the 12 weeks of hell! Will they never end? I've just had 2 days of bleeding and doc has said that frankly if i'm going to mc there's nothing i or anyone else can do and there's not much point sending me for a scan. Hum.

Still, i've had no cramps so still staying as positive as poss. Last night, for the first time in weeks, i didn't wake up and have to eat half a barely-ripe banana to ward off middle-of-the-night nausea. Naturally, i'm now worried that this is a bad sign also.

Hope you're ok cheekymonkey and anyone else in the same situation.

beonit · 05/11/2009 22:03

I haven't been around much, largely because I wasn't that confident about this pregnancy. Turns out I was right - I had a scan today - should have been 9 weeks but measured just over 7, no heartbeat. Gutted. Anyway, am removing myself from the list and wishing you all the very very best.
