Here we go -

Hpoefully in this one we'll all get to feel those kicks and turns if we haven't already, some of us will go for our 20 week scans, and we might get to look preg instead of looking like we've eaten too many cream cakes!

No more scares in this one though please!

hi everyone,
Thank you for all your support and good wishes I have had police and scenes of crimes officers here all day in between going to see drs!! had to laugh though when officer taking photos of my lower back/bum asked if he could have one of my face so he would remember who the other photo's were of!!!!!!!! charming!!!.
At least i managed to get out of bed today.DH is been really supportive and the dr signed me off work for at least 2 weeks, so going to take it easy and rest. On a happier note the baby is kicking like mad and must be breech at the moment (like DD was) as i feel like a little foot might appear out of my bits if it kicks much harder!!!(Anyone who has had a breech baby will know this feeling)
Once again thanks
love Twinkle

Hi Twinkle,

Happy to hear you sounding so well after your ordeal. Told my dp last night and he got SO cross. Said if he had a moment alone with them, he'd hit them as hard as possible - and he's a anti-violent person in general!

Diege, not heard from you in ages, you're just like me - torturing yourself with the net! I was exactly the same last week after they told me about my thin uterus! I was convinced it would spontaneously rupture! Just wondering, have you got 2 daughters Diege? Or one of each? Have you left it as a surprise this time??

Nova - I think it's only natural to feel vunerable sometimes lovey. I certainly do - especially in town. Didn't like taking the children in when they were babies either, kept thinking someone would dive on the pram or knock the buggy over. I think it's just an over protectiveness over bump/baby, which we can blame on hormones!

Love to everyone x x x

Oh Enthusia, there's a thread in the childbirth section called 'waterbirth v non-waterbirth' which you'll find interesting x x

Twinkle - So sorry! but i'm soooo happy that you and bubs are well I hope that you're getting plenty of rest and TLC and are not attempting to return to work until you're fully rested and ready. If there's anything I can do...sending you massive {hugs} xx

Hoping that everyone is well. Have had a 'sick' day..it's called going to work. I have been sick since return home at 4.30pm
Hired a doppler and it's great. We sat listening to baby's heartbeat for a while - was v.reassuring

Rodeo - I just watched the repeat of desperate midwives, I don't know what to say or think

Love to all x

Mornin'

Hamster - i've ordered all the furniture for the nursery but it takes up to 8 weeks to come so it'll be a while before that goes up. The nursery is currently a guest room (in which we have a friend staying at the mo) so the double bed is going to stay in there, we're just going to move it to one side. Due to the computer being fixed yesterday (no mn!) I managed to finish tiling the nursery bathroom floor, and over the next couple of weeks i'm going to make the soft furnishings (v. cute fabric from john lewis). When thats done all we need to do is give it a fresh coat of paint and we have a nursery. So thats a long way of saying we've started it, but it won't be finished for another 8 weeks.

I've seen somewhere (i think babys room on discovery H&H) that it's better to move a childs room before the new baby arrives so he doesn't feel 'pushed out'. I think i watch too many baby programmes - trying to get out more!

Have a good day y'all

BEKsmum · 01/07/2005 11:39

Morning girls,

Hi ya HK, how are you doing sweetheart, we're missing you too, what have you been up to?

Things with me are fine, Ben can't make up his mind whether he wants to be angel or devil child at the moment which is amusing but also quite tiring!!! Bump is growing well and kicking like crazy especially when Ben gets into trouble, seems to be giving him moral support, which is all I'm short of!!!

Rodeo how was the soft play centre, did the kids enjoy it?

Sharon hope the scan goes well today.

Is anyone else having trouble sleeping? I can fall asleep standing up at the moment but as soon as I go to bed I get completely uncomfortable (have tried all the pillows etc)and I'm having to sleep virtually sitting up right already. I was the same with Ben but not this early on and it's driving me nuts.

Looked through two whole baby names books yesterday and eventually found 13 girls names & 8 boys names that dh & I could just about agree on, now it's just down to choosing a favourite - we'll be back to the drawing board before we know it when we can't get a combination we like!!!

Better go and sort Ben out some lunch before he goes to pre-school, speak to you all later.

BEKsmum · 01/07/2005 11:44

Sorry just realised I've put myself back a week I'm 20+5 - brains of baby mush these days, think it's 'cos I'm going to be another year older next week and everything is falling apart!!!

Nova well done you for being so organised, baby has it's own bathroom? Lucky you [envy} This being our 2nd, the baby is getting the box room which really is the short straw

ChaCha · 01/07/2005 16:10

Afternoon
Is Busy still with us?

I have the WORST heartburn ever!!!! Have tried rennies but they do not work. I have NEVER had heartburn before and took a while to diagnose it!
Any suggestions? Feel like my whole left side of chest is squashed..

Enthusia - I've 9 working days left at school. I've done ALL my marking now and have returned books (really pleased with myself) just exams to mark and reports to write now...

This heartburn is killing me

rodeo1 · 01/07/2005 16:30

Hi all!

Ooh Chacha, heartburn? never had it myself - my dad gets it though! Try Gaviscon instead - think that is better. Have you thought of any names yet BTW?

Beks, 13 girls names and 8 boys?? Wow that is good going!!! Are you going to share?

Sharon, probably won't hear from you til Monday but hope everything is well after your scan

HK, we really miss you too!

Well, I've got work later so have put Lilo and Stitch on so I can have a bit of peace and quiet, have got to do a quick tidy too as dp is having a boys night in. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Beks,Rodeo- Not been up to much here. First af since mc has nearly finished so hopefully (if like the rest) should get pg within a few weeks Hoorraahh!!!
Twinkle- How are you feeling now?

BEKsmum · 01/07/2005 17:54

Chacha, try Gaviscon liquid - personally can't stand the stuff but my s-i-l drank it from the bottle while pregnant and swears by it! or milk apparently, but as I can't stomach that either I can't vouch for that one!

HK glad you've got your af if you know what I mean, not that I'd normally wish that on any woman, & glad to hear that your still at "it" like newly weds, I'll keep all the bits crossed for you that you're not Have fun over the weekend doing other things too of course!

Don't work too hard tonight Rodeo - is it a busy pub or more of a locals one? The one I worked in was a locals pub so was a real doss most of the time which explains how I had time to ensnare my very lovely dh!

I'll stick my name choices on the members list and you can all let me know what you think, I told ds and he picked Samuel & Eleanor, I think the later was because he has a gorgeous friend with the same name who he saw yesterday.

Right better go as dh & ds want to play a racing game on here now, have a great weekend all Beks

tessasmum · 01/07/2005 19:41

ChaCha - sorry you have got heartburn. I had it badly last time and its come back much earlier this time. I tried the Rennies approach last time but not sure they worked very well and I hated the taste by the end. I was a bit nervous of trying Gaviscon first time round as I was trying to be good and take as little 'medication' as possible. This time I have a big bottle though haven't resorted to it yet.
There are a few things that help a bit - not snacking lightly ie just a bite or two (eat the lot!!), not leaving too long before eating, sitting up straight as much as possible especially when eating and last night we were shown a yoga position that got rid of my heartburn straight away though it came back but then I did polish off a bar of chocolate in the car on the way home! I'll try and explain it but let me know if you need further instructions!:

Kneel on floor against a wall with knees touching the wall. Rest your forehead on the wall and put your palms by the side of your head on the wall. Push back with you chest and shoulders so that you are pushing your shoulder blades together. Hold it for a few seconds, or longer if its comfy, then relax and do it again. Hope it makes sense and hope it helps.

Hmmmm, nursery, now that's an interesting thought!

Bit of a confession here. We didn't do a nursery as such for DD, she was just evicted into the spare room in the middle of the night at about 6 weeks old when DH had had enough of her keeping him awake - sniffing, shuffling, grunting, etc!! Tiny babies do not sleep quietly, be warned! We have slowly made the room hers though it still has a load of DH's books and a wardrobe full of our stuff in it!
When the new one turns up it will be in with us for a while until evicted, then possibly in the spare room for a while although that's the office and DH now works from home, then in with DD. Will really need to move our stuff out by then or DD will be climbing over the cot to get to and from her bed!! Think we are secretly hoping that the house will grow a new room overnight

ChaCha · 01/07/2005 23:40

Thanks for suggestions. DH brought me a bottle of gaviscon home, doesn't seem to be helping much. I am trying the exercise Tessasmum, thank you for that. I can't believe it's quite so painful, i was laughing at a friend who was complaining of it not so long ago at 24wks..payback time or what?!
Have just had news that 2 of my cousins are both expecting, my colleague and a friend!!!! Is it babyboom season?

KristinaM · 02/07/2005 21:14

OOh Beksmum I like lots of names on your list. Which is probably a first for me on mumsnet as I like quite traditional names and most mumsnetters are....ahem..... very cool and trendy

Much better than Gaviscon is Mucogel, which you get on prescription from your Gp or midwife. You get a big bottle so it lasts for longer, its free and it is much easier to swallow than gaviscon as its like toothpaste flavoured milk

KristinaM · 02/07/2005 21:21

Sorry just realised i have popped up out of no where after weeks of silence......Sorry I ve just been lurking as we had a family bereavement so have been a bit preooccupied.

Hi to everyone I've not spoken to before, i'm Kristina, i'm now 20 weeks pregnant with my third baby ( and my DH's 5th - I have 2 step children as well). We have a DD who's 5 and a DS of 13 months.

CADS · 03/07/2005 09:36

Hi everyone,

Just a quick hello from sunny South Africa. Only have 3 days left before heading back to UK. Have only scanned the messages i have missed but it sounds like everyone is doing well. Welcome to all the new ladies.

This holiday has been a bit of a mixed bag and has cost me an absolute fortune. DS spent 4 days in hosiptal after having a convulsion (so glad it didn't happen in the UK where I would have been on my own). Had a really big fright and don't think I will ever get over it. Went into a complete panic but luckily my mom was with me and she took over. It just come completely out if the blue and it all happen so quickly. Mom was great the minute she realised he wasn't breathing she rushed outside and jumped into someone's car and demanded they take her to the hopsital. We live about half a mile from the hopsital so she got there really quickly. By the time a got to the hosiptal, ds was breathing and his paed was there and had everything sorted. The paed is the most brilliant man on earth. He is what doctors should be like. We go and see him everytime we come over and I loved him from the moment I meant him and when I saw him with ds in casualty I knew immediately that everything would be ok. We a working on a plan to kidnap him and take him but to the UK. Poor ds after all that drama he still had his adenoids removed on friday because of his recurrent ear infections (he had 9 infections since Jan). Hopefully, we won't have anymore ear infections for a long time. Needless, to say all this medical care has been done privately and paid for by me. Won't be only any shopping sprees for a few months.

God I have gone on and on, haven't I.

Will catch up properly once I am back home.
Take care

Just a quick weekend catch up,

Children are at Karate with daddykins so I'm having a lazy morning,

CADS How frightening, so glad everythings well now though. How old is your ds? Poor little thing. It'll be nice to have you back in the week!

Kristina - Great to have you back too, sorry to hear about your family bereavment. My friend lost her dad on her birthday this year (2 weeks ago) after losing her mum on her birthday the year before Very sad.

Chacha - how's the heartburn?? Anything working?

Tessasmum - your dh must be a very light sleeper! My dp could sleep through anything. I used to nudge him everytime one of the babies woke up, just to let him know I was up - what a cow! It's rubbish breastfeeding in the middle of the night when your dh/dp is snoring his head off next to you!!

Beksmum I'm off to have a look at your names list in a mo, we haven't got a list yet, just keep saying at various moments 'What about .....?' to which the other one of us will reply 'Hmm.....'!! Really must get our fingers (and book) out! Oh the pub I work in is a local one - but it's always so busy at the weekend (it is good fun though - the girls I work with are great!), and completely deserted in the week!

Twinkle, thinking of you lovey

Well having a lazy day today. My Mum's cooking Sunday dinner for us 4 and my sis and her dp, then we're off to my Dad's this evening for a family BBQ! Lovely!

Have a great Sunday everyone. Hope everyone else is well

Ooh Beks They are nice, was toying with Imogen ourselves, love Immy as a nickname Like Scarlett too, Joe was nearly a Scarlett!
Out of the boys I love Jake but with Bella that would be 2 tweenies! Love Oscar too, very cute but also grown up, and Ben and Oscar sounds lovely together!!

BEKsmum · 03/07/2005 11:04

Morning girls,

Cads sweetheart what a fright, glad he's ok now though and you're right there is nothing like having your mum around you in an emergency, they just seem to know what to do don't they? Safe trip home and looking forward to catching up with you properly next week.

Kristina nice to have you back, sorry to hear of your loss, you know we're all here if you need us. Hadn't heard of Mucogel, but will store that piece of information away as i really suffered last time. Glad you liked the names too, now it's deciding on just two of each.

Twinkle, how are you doing? thinking of you.

Rodeo totally agree with the nudging the hubby when the kids wake up, I do it to mine and if I've got up more than twice in a night I make him get up the third time! Had forgotten about the night feeds and snoring hubbies - now that really is irritating!!!

Anyway what's wrong with having two tweenies I told my brother about Oscar and he said it was too pretentious, but I agree it does sound nice with Ben, we'll probably use it as the middle name. I like Imogen but my mum pulled a face when I told her, and said oh no, so that's probably out as is Scarlett as she said it sounds like a prostitutes name

Right I'm off to get ready as meeting mates & family at a family friendly pub this afternoon to celebrate my birthday, I'll be 31 on Tuesday so thought an afternoon drinking fizzy water & diet coke was a necessary while all my mates swig booze around me - a glutton for punishment or what! Have a great afternoon and I'll speak to you all tomorrow Beks 21 (weeks that is!)

novadandypowder · 03/07/2005 12:32

Well, the wedding rings are off thanks to heat, sweat, pg and eczema. My wedding finger is now a lovely mess of sore red itchy skin - boo. However, while the wedding ring was off we did the 'wedding ring test' over the bump at the insistance of the people we were visiting last night. According to that we're having a girl, and the guy doing our 20wk scan did make some quip about women drivers, which he swore wasn't related to the sex of the baby but he may have been trying to cover up his slip.

After weeks of discussion DH and I had decided on a girls name (boys name is a given as it's going to be after DH's dad) but i've since gone off it after reading the name threads. But I said to DH on friday 'what about ?' and he said 'yeah, i like ?' which i thought was good too. So there you have it first and middle name sorted in 30 seconds. He doesn't like me telling people what we've chosen, so you'll have to wait til november.

I got to bottle feed a baby for the first time yesterday while I was looking after a friends 4 month old. It was a very useful exercise and I can't wait to have my own baby here. Also got a big bag of clothes from her to get my collection up and running.

Feel like baby has been growing at a very fast rate, everyday bump seems bigger.

Morning all, good luck today Twinkle, enjoy your scan, are you going to find out whether it's a girl or a boy?

Had a really nice afternoon yesterday and thankfully it didn't rain, kids had a great time and I provided cake & party bags so they went home happy!

Better go as mum & dad are coming round today to help me empty out the spare room of all it's junk including the bed etc so that the room will at least look like it's going to be ready for the new arrival, although we still need to carpet it yet!

We recently had it painted yellow (before I knew I was pregnant) so lets hope I have a girl so I don't have to change anything! Last time the room was already painted mint green but I painted a disney mural on one whole wall for Ben, don't think I'll be doing that this time though as a certain 3 year old would be wanting to help

Speak to you all alter Beks 21+1

Diege · 04/07/2005 11:47

Hi everyone,
Hope scan goes well Twinkle . Miserable weather, but boss off ill so pretty good day! (for me!)
Rodeo: yes, the internet gets really obsessive doesn't it? When I find something reassuring, I still have to carry on looking until I have something tangible to pin my worries onto. I'm turning into a real nutcase! Had a terrible time with DD no.1 (15 scans, bad bloods, soft markers appearing on every scan, and dire warnings from consultant of very underweight baby (she was perfectly healthy, and weighed 7.6), so I think I'm still traumatised from that. Yes, I have two daughters (ages 4 at end of month, and 2.5). We are not finding out sex this time, to have a bit of a surprise! Would be more than happy with another girl, (boy would be great too), but getting a bit grouchy when total strangers grab hold of my hand and say things like 'Oh I do hope it's a boy for you this time!!'
Beksmum: my dds are called Scarlett and Jasmine, and we've always had really positive responses about the name Scarlett. lol re: prostitute's name! We make that joke too, as we have a ahem 'massage parlour' up the road called 'Scarlett's of Widnes!!' (Jasmine has the Thai restaurant across the road). Names this time (and apologies if you think these are dire - I do like unusual)are Liberty (Libby) for a girl, and Louie for a boy. DH not that keen on Liberty, but he never comes up with any alternatives, and nearly fainted when I suggested my own alternatives (Tabitha - too 'cat-like'), Tallulah (too Eastenders), and Matilda (old woman). Arghh!!
Nova - you are so super-organised with your nursery . Is it your first baby? (I'm holding on to that!). We need to move desperately to a bigger house, but I'm not sure if it's better moving when heavily pregnant and 2 toddlers in tow, or with newborn? The former I think, but not sure. Any opinions?
ChaCha - suffering with heartburn too. Only thing that works for me is Gaviscon extra (tablets), though really gritty with a surprising 'wholemeal' texture!
Better get back to marking now,
Diege (21 wks, 1 day).

SharonTW1 · 04/07/2005 13:43

Hello girlies, thanks for the well wishes for my scan , it was brill, could see little feet clear as day padding in the 'sac'. Pic not as good as 14 week one but was brill still. DH was really excited at this one asking lots of questions and his little face was alight. Baby was holding it's toes.
Not finding out sex want a surprise.
Bought my first maternity clothes at the weekend too, they're impressive aren't they ?
I expected them all to have big elastic panels etc but they're so discreet !
Take care everyone xxx
