Lightening- I'm loving this table with these chairs.... very nice- but would never go in this house just yet!!

We're doing the living room, then making a 3rd bedroom, then extending the back of the dining room and making one massive big open plan kitchen/diner/living space... then once we've dont that we may change the current living room into a playroom/formal dining room- just depends on how much extra space we can add!! will be very costly though- and take a good few years to full complete, but will be worth it to have the house we want!!

Diege · 23/09/2009 09:55

Morning! That does sound a really crappy night CANT I don't know what to suggest really, esp if she is really hungry as opposed to just wakeful (other than feeding her which you're doing anyway!)
LIGHTENING - LOL at all the shopping chat! I too will need to look at furniture for the new house, but am thinking IKEA really, with maybe a few bits from places like ASPACE On the subject of home courses, as a lecturer the only place I'd consider would be the OU - there are lots of cowboys out there, but OU is fab and their degrees are actually better than many other universities. Not sure if you'd have to do an access course first to get A levels, or if you would get 'accreditation' for experience etc and do a foundation year before the degree proper. Give me a shout if you need some more info'!
MMM why not try a 0.5 high summer weight bag? Basically just a sheet, but then you could add blankets? Enjoy the class!
Hi KAYZ! I think I am in a routine too - waking 4am for the last 3 nights, which reminds me scarily of when I was pregnant. I am starting to get that horrible dready feeling - I know logically I cannot be (ok, a teeny chance) but I can't think of one positive about being pregnant just now. I need you all to do an af dance now!! (unless that spotting last sat WAS af???)
Right, better go and get J up!
Oh and TINK enjoy your class too! Off to town to do some shopping myself today

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/09/2009 10:12

Diege- sounds like your really in the predicament i was last week!! I'm doing the biggest AF dance for you ever!!

As for the waking i really dont know either- i mean she shouldn't be hungry enough to wake all them times, she's been known to go 5/6hrs straight without a feed- but i can leave her for a good 15mins and she just doesn't give in until she's fed- though sometimes even that doesn't work and i'm left faffing about for another half hour before yet another feed which will send her off. I can feel my eyes really heavy- and i dont want to just leave her to cry all night as then me, DH and DD wont get any sleep- and DH has to drive 45mins to work in a morning- he can't be doing that when he's drifting off because of no sleep at night!!

The other 2 were fab- went into their routines really well, she just doesn't seem to want to give in to me just yet!!

Diege · 23/09/2009 10:23

Yes please, biggest af dance you can muster up please! My rational side says it's nigh impossible that I could be pregnant, but as you know yourself, the mind does play tricks. One minute I'm sure I am (thinking my life is over - end of body, career, any semblance of order, money...) the next it's just my cycle being irregular and that bleed could even be linked to ovulation...Oh and that preg test I had was actually an ovulation test

On the Ruby front I suppose you could try the old controlled crying business if you think she's snacking out of habit, but as you say it's really tough going down that route with other little ones who make wake with it. Could it possibly be down to needing to wean?? Just thinking that (from what HV says) them waking again after going through a good stretch can indicate this? Or could you offer a bottle or beaker of cooled boiled water?

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/09/2009 10:37

She wont take a sippy cup yet... am trying to wean, but as she's still only like a 3mth old develpoment-wise she can't so much eat and swallow right, she'll have a spoonfull then the rest gets spat out with her toungue movements etc. I mean- imagine trying to wean J now- it'd be just like that- she's not physically ready for foods yet... I am trying the controlled crying- has worked for putting her down in her cot at night, but then she's waking in the night and after 15mins she's just not settling in the night- by which time DH is stirring and i feel bad so i'll feed her and if need be persist with going to her every 5mins to give dummy and blanket if she needs it, if not just check she's ok.... its a vicious circle!!

And know exactly what you mean on the AF/PG front- i was like that- especially as i'd been sick too- DH even wonders if i may have been PG for a day or 2 but it didn't stick- hence the late AF (which i'm never
late by more than a day), and also i'm having such a different AF too- still heavy now when i came on last thursday night/friday, and have been loosing fairly big clot/jelly like bits too (sorry if TMI).... But i really honestly thoguht i was PG- and felt like i could feel our plans for our future crashing down around us!! I mean i'd even considered cots, clothing etc- thats how certain i was that i was PG!!

tinksbiggirlhasstartedschool · 23/09/2009 10:58

tink does an af dance for one hour that should do the trick

cant - poor u with night times

class was really good bracken waved for goodbye song and shook her maraca to the music

Diege · 23/09/2009 11:24

Bracken sounds very cute TINKS! Thanks for the dance
CANT, I was the same with eyeing up P&Ts this morning with this horrible feeling of dread...I'm trying to rationalise the whole thing - I mean the chances of getting pregnant using withdrawal method (and I mean withdrawing several minutes before the explusion) must be really, really slim surely? So what else could that bleed be?? Any ideas??

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 23/09/2009 12:05

Sugar, just lost huge post grrrrrrr!

Basically said:

Diege, do a test, if that bleed was implantation then it would give you a true answer by now. And I will stick to the OU then, may well need to pick your brains at some point!

Glask, sorry I've no real advice for Ruby's sleep, but is it worth speaking to your HV/cons about the weaning? Or spoon feeding water? We also used the little pippet thing out of a bottle of infacol (clean obviously!) to get some water into Mikey, bit less of a hassle than a spoon! Oh and that red chair, it is what DS1 wants in his room at his desk, didn't know if it was a bit girly, but it would go really well with the furniture I he wants!

Tink, LOL have picture of Bracken waving and shaking maracas, while you are doing some sort of belly AF dance around the room

Grrrr, MN playing up?

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 23/09/2009 13:27

Diege.... come out, come out, where ever you are!!

Need those brains of yours please

Diege · 23/09/2009 14:06

I am here Just back from town - agree that H&M is very much feast or famine. Fanmine day today... Assuming bleed was not af, I would be due on roughly this weekend, so if no luck will do a test Monday. If it's neg then will put it down to one of those things! (and NEVER do the dipping thing again as contraception ),

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/09/2009 14:20

Well- tried DD2 with some more food this lunchtime- she took a little more than normal- maybe she likes cauliflower cheese??.... i'm trying a new thing where i'm going to keep her awake as long as possible in the afternoons and see if she sleeps better for it. We plan to get her an activity centre/station thingy for xmas so by then she can sit in that and play while i MN do housework. That should start keeping her awake more.

have actually lost my train of thought between here and FB i haven't a clue what i was gonna say- actually started writting this message at about 1.30pm!!

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 23/09/2009 15:29

You can't wait till Monday! LOL Isn't it funny when we are TTC'ing everyone tests as early as poss (and usually a bit earlier than that!) but when we're not, you put it off and put it off!

OK, so you are probably long gone again by now, but what is a diploma? I know it is obviously a certificate, but what does it actually mean? I know it's not along the lines of a master's degree, but if you had a diploma in something, is that enough to get a good footing in that type of work?

Have been looking for interior design courses, OU don't seem to offer them, but have found one that certainly looks the part, 12 weeks min, 12 months max course, £500, ends in a diploma. Is that good enough to then go and start a (small) business from? From the modules it describes you do obviously the design aspect of it, but there is also a module detailing suppliers and how to go about setting up the business and running it. Is it a pipe dream? T'would be my ultimate job!

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 23/09/2009 15:31

Meant I have found a course with another college type uni place thing that only does interior design courses, not with the OU.

Diege · 23/09/2009 15:47

Ok, let's talk diplomas - they vary vastly in status and usefulness, from the expcetionally good to the 'take the money off you and leave you with a worthless qualification type'. In terms of qualification status, they are usually a foot-in to a degree course, and are what you get if you complete a year of a degree course in many cases. There are also stand alone ones that sound like the sort you're looking at - can be very good, but I'd check that the course you mention leads to a recognised qualification. If you are simply doing one just to get some background and knowledge before starting up your own business, that's great (more than many would do I'd imagine), but if you want to go on and get a job with an interior design company, it might be worth chatting with someone about what qualifications they require. Most diplomas work on putting together a portfolio that, in your case, would display some practical aptitude for the area, as well as essay type assignments. I think it's great that youy're thinking about it, and agree that if you're going down the self-emplyed route diploma would be better than 3 year degree. If you give me a bit more info on the place you're thinking about i can ask around

essenceofSES · 23/09/2009 15:57

Hello!!

Lightning - course sounds exciting

Diege - I've put a photo of O and J on FB wagon page. Hope that's ok?
Shall I join in the AF dance too?!

Can't - sounds like a rotten night. Hope things improve.

Tink - love that image of Bracken

MMM - I agree with Diege about trying a 0.5 tog sleeping bag with just a long sleeved vest if he's that warm.

I'm trying to be more strict with O and his sleeping today. We went to post natal group this morning and he fell asleep there for an hour in his car seat which is good as a couple of weeks ago, the only place he'd sleep for any decent length of time during the day was on me
This afternoon he fed at 1.30pm and seemed half asleep so I took him upstairs to his cot. He stayed there quite happily looking at his mobile and rolling over. After 15 mins he started grizzling so I went up and reassured him and left him again. After another 5 mins his grizzling was crying so I brought him downstairs and he had a good kick around on his rug. Another feed at 3.15pm and he soon fell fast asleep on me. After 5 mins I decided to transfer him upstairs to his cot where he promptly woke up crying. I picked him up and gave him a cuddle, put him back down and he started crying again! He's now under his playmat quite happily rolling and kicking around!
Sorry to go on but it's quite cathartic typing it allout. I think I'm going to persist and hope in a few days he gets the idea...

Diege · 23/09/2009 16:15

Hi SES! Yes, the more dancing the better . TBH, the more I think about it, the more likely it is that I'm not pregnant, but when you're lying awake at 4am everything seems more vivid and scary! On the sleep front, I think I might have persisted when O started crying after 5 mins, if you were sure he was tired. Just depends if you're after structured naps, or are happier going with the flow! I don;lt think I could manage without J's structured naps (he's up there now). Will go and have a look on fb

essenceofSES · 23/09/2009 16:18

Thanks Diege. I'll up my level of toughness (with myself I think rather than O!) tomorrow

Diege · 23/09/2009 16:26

Yes, might be worth a try Oh and picture is lovely - they really do look as if they could be brothers!

Kayzr · 23/09/2009 16:26

Hi,

Can I join the worried I am pg club? AF isn't due until Saturday but I am getting strange stretching feelings in my pelvis that I got with DS1 and DS2. EEEKKKK!! But I am on the pill so it is pretty impossible!!

Hope you are all ok.

Kayzr · 23/09/2009 16:27

Ohhhhhh!!! IDOB hasn't posted today!!! Could it be??

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/09/2009 16:38

ooooh.... though i just expect she's making the most of the peace!!

The DC's are driving me insane today (yes DS has only been home for an hour)- have put DD2 in her boucy chair and am sat on here with my ipod on full volume- the room looks so peaceful like this- although i'm sure a fight will break out soon- be it between DS & DD1 or between DS and the dog- DS seems intent on trying to wind him up!! It's all gonna end in tears from someone!!

Kayzr · 23/09/2009 16:41

Yeah she is not in labour.

idreamofbeanie · 23/09/2009 16:41

Sorry Kay, not even a twinge here. The baby is definitely quite comfortable where she is. I have to confess I had a mini paddy this morning when I got an e-mail to say that the only lady from my NCT class who was due after me had her baby on Sunday . DP didn't know whether to sympathise or laugh! It's just that my pelvis is so sore now I can't sleep, can't sit comfortably and can't walk far so I'm bored out of my mind. Oh well, I have friends coming over with my godson tomorrow and another couple coming for dinner on Friday then it's the weekend and DP is off so at least I'll have company.

God I really need a slap, what a moody mare!
