Well done mr GS!!

Good going on 1st day Boden.

Lightening- Take the house!!!

STT- implantation?

Diege- clutching at straws must have worked as have had some more spotting- i think AF is on her way!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally getting more spotting this evening, felt a bit sick this morning but had toast and felt fine, been fine all day since. I'm wondering if maybe i did have a bit of something like a bug which was making me ill, and delayed my AF too.... VEEEEEERY bad timing as i've been crapping myself most of the week... was due on around this time last week-ish!! at least DH has got an app for the snip tommorow, thats one good thing to come out of this- no having to worry about it in the future!! And no worry about which double pram i'd like!! haha!!- that being one of my biggest worries about another one and all haha!!

anyway ladies, very tired so off to bed now just wanted to pop in and share my very good news, just keep everything crossed that she comes more by tomorrow!!

Kayzr · 17/09/2009 19:56

Get a phil and teds Cant!!! Lol!!!

Yay for Mr Gruff!! Brill news.

Starshinetiger · 17/09/2009 20:58

Yay for DH Gruff - was only thinking of you this pm and wondering how he got on. Flying post, as really need to do a couple of jobs before I have to see to DD when she wakes up go to bed.

Lightning - echo STT and Diege - take the house. They said what I thought when I read your message.

Ses - yay for DS' weight. DD didn't weigh that until 23 weeks! DD still not sleeping - last night was hell. Have joined a support thread. Am boring myself talking about it [yawn emoticon]

Diege · 17/09/2009 21:03

Phew CANT thank goodness for that! Scares like that really confirm what you think about a possible pregnancy I think - I don;t sense that you'll be even the teeniest bit disappointed that you're not somehow
GRUFF, excellent news about the job Whatr are you doing to celebrate?
Hi STAR! Sleep problems are soul destroying - despite J sleeping well, I HAVE been there with the dds at various points and was referred to a sleep clinic with dd1 so do feel your pain. Feel free to off-load here as well as on your other thread xxx I remember feeling physically ill as it got darker and the night time hell loomed!
Right, want to watch that money prog on BBC2 Night all!

GruffaloSoldier · 17/09/2009 22:59

Thanks everyone,

I am waiting for him to come home (worked 2pm-10.30pm today) but have bought some champagne to celebrate but probably not til Saturday or even Sunday as he is working late shifts the next couple of nights.

I for got to say that GC started 'commando style' crawling a few days ago - very funny to see him on the move properly now.

Star - I really hope that the nights improve for you soon. If GC has one upset night I fall to pieces, so you are doing amazingly well!

Boden - glad dd enjoyed school.

Ses - sorry for DH but does sound like he was just nervous about the responsibilty. Im sure the more you go out the better he will be ;) Have a fab time in York!

And everyone else going of course!

CANT - great news about AF. We must be cycle buddies still as my AF started today too. I have to admit I was a little disappointed

Lightening - Take the house. It will be fine I'm sure.

Diege - glad your PO(O) visit was nice and quick. I hate it when it when it takes ages...PMSL!!Ahem! Hope you are enjoying the money prog.

Right hello to anyone I've missed. I'm off to do some housework now before DH gets home.G'night!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 18/09/2009 08:12

Congrats to your DH GS, and to GC for commando crawling. DS did that too, didn't take long to get up on his knees and start hurtling round the place though!

Can't - pleased for you, was really worried that it might not turn out the way you wanted...such a relief all round.

Boden - DD sounds like she had a lovely day! You OK?

SST - sleep boards are quite good on here, providing a huge variety of different techniques, just goes to show how different they all are doesn't it. I'm hoping this one will be an easy sleeper like DS was, but something tells me that's not going to be the case

Well, had my scan and consultant appt. yesterday - scan was lovely, got a great picture of LO's face, and she showed us the hands and feet slowly enough for me to actually focus on them which makes a nice change. Growth is all steady, just a smidging above the 50th, which is the same as DS was apparently. Head is down - at least it was yesterday, its been wiggling and wiggling all night, hope its not up to mischief!

Anyhoo, then I went to see my consultant, who is really lovely, she did a quick feel of my tum, and said she thought the head was still quite high but would do an internal to see what my cervix is doing. She said it was 'slightly shortened, but thick and closed' - so no sweep for me.

DH clearly hasn't been listening to anything because when we walked out he said "crikey, for a minute there I thought she was talking about sweeping you today, ha ha ha" - i replied "errr, she was, that's always been the plan, if I was ready for it" - cue silence from DH. He's in charge of a really big project with a deadline of 30th September and its going to be ruddy tight as it is, its got huge financial implications if its not met and there's no one else in the business with the technical expertise to complete it if anything happens to DH.

Now, from a business perspective, I think that's bloody poor - what if he gets ill (or worse)? From a personal perspective, he'd rather baby waited till 1st Oct at earliest!

Anyway - consultant described baby's head as being 'up in the gods' which wasn't what I wanted to hear! So the plan now is this:

MW appt next week, I can have an internal and get her to sweep if we're both happy

Cons appt week after, internal and sweep if possible

But then we skip to 41+9 and if I haven't gone into labour by then, it will be a chat about an elective c-section.

I can't actually imagine going that far overdue without losing the plot entirely having been pretty much on time with DS, so think I should at least get a trial of labour and then its more likely to end as an emergency c-sec rather than an elective, IYSWIM.

Had a much better nights sleep last night, around DS' 3 wakings with his terrible cough, and my trips to the loo anyway.

Have bought a bed! As we finished at the hospital at about 4, we whizzed round to a couple of discount furniture warehouse style places and managed to pick up a basic metal framed, 3' bed, including mattress and delivery (today!) for £95! Job done. Just in time too really, my aunt is coming over to visit, arriving on Monday, to help me get everything in order - kind of the stuff my mum would be helping me do if she lived closer. My aunt doesn't work though, so its easier for her, and we've not seen much of each other of late - its a real shame as we'd always been very close. Guess this is as good a time as any to get some of that back. She's also pretty darn good at cooking, cleaning and interior design / decorating / upholstering etc!

I've rambled again, sorry! Need to try and get a bit more sleep today - I'll be on DS duty over the weekend so want to be as 'prepared' physically as possible.

Oh - forgot to mention, when I had my BP taken yesterday at the hospital, it was back to 'normal', so the couple of days bed rest I've had so far have really helped. Clearly I was doing too much, funny how the body knows how to slow us down isn't it.

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 18/09/2009 08:46

Glad everything is looking OK STT.

Spose I'd best get him off to school, will be back, I think, t'is Friday, have friends coming over from lunchtime tonight for drinks and take away (oh we know how to live...! )

xxx

Diege · 18/09/2009 08:53

Morning! Wow quite a packed day yesterday for you STT! Glad you enjoyed then scan, and seems like they are taking good care of you. Out of interest, why would they offer an elective c-section rather than inducing? Just curious if it's to do with head being high (if it still is then) because that's what I had and ended up with the emergency section. Fingers crossed things will happen long before then. Agree with it being v.bad business planning from dh's work - rather a high risk strategy!
GRUFF, do I detect a move towards ttc for you? Come on, you can be open with us...
Finally getting to Jo Jiongles class today, first with J then dd3 15 mins later. Am hoping that J will settle in his pram for dd3's class, but aren't holding out much hope. As those of you in York will see, take him out of his cot and dark bedroom and the routine goes to pot! I warn you (and the staff of pizz express that he doesn't so much as cry as screech )

Diege · 18/09/2009 08:54

Morning Nat! Sounds like good living to me . So are you going for the house???

Sparklytwinkletoes · 18/09/2009 09:23

Diege, funny you should ask, coz I'm a bit confused by it all too.

When I had DS, I went into labour spontaneously; contractions for about four nights, then waters broke, then contractions, hospital, g&a, pethidine, emergency cs. His head never engaged onto my cervix, so my contractions never did anything, his heartrate was suffering so got him out quick.

This time, because they don't know why DS' head never engaged, they are letting me VBAC to see if I get it right this time .

No artificial induction with hormones etc for me because the contractions I was experiencing were really excruciating and I was only a couple of cm's - they have cited three possible reasons 1) baby too big (unlikely) 2) ineffective contractions caused by stress 3) placenta may have started to seperate too early, causing fetal heart drop and painful, ineffective contractions.

Because his head never engaged, I was at constant risk of cord prolapse too.

So, the plan is to try not to leave baby in there too long so it doesn't get too big but not to use drugs to induce as that can accelerate things very quickly and they already know that I suffered very badly with the pain last time.

But, what I'm really puzzled about, is the whole head engagement thing.

I've been told I never dilated because the head wasn't engaged / down on the cervix, but if that's the case, how come women having second or more are cited as not having their baby engage until labour begins. Because according to my consultant, labour doesn't begin till the head engaged - so which is it? Head engaging or contractions? I'm not sure i'm actually making any sense here.... I'll post anyway to see if you can interpret

As to how it all may relate to you Diege, if the head doesn't descend, birth just won't happen.

Have a fabulous story to tell you that my mum came out with last night...will leave that to a seperate post though or Lightning might be after me

idreamofbeanie · 18/09/2009 10:31

Hi, does anyone have any top tips for keeping cats out of my flower beds? I have a raised bed in the back yard and some horrid little cat keeps coming round and digging up the plants to crap in the soil . I'm really NOT a cat person anyway (I don't hate them or anything, just object to other peoples pets crapping in my garden) and this kind of thing drives me nuts. I know the owner can't do anything but is there anything that really works to discourage them - plants they don't like the smell of or putting gravel over the top or that kind of thing. What about spiky plants? I don't want to hurt the cat obviously, just try to make the flower bed a bit less inviting.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 18/09/2009 11:06

IDOB- i've heard you can buy lion poo to spread into your flowerbeds which stops them, or you can buy a little gadget thing (which might be more up your DP's street) that will keep em out of the garden.... DH sells them at maplin

cantmummyhaveabreak · 18/09/2009 11:10

duh.... i was going to bring good news- AF has arrived in full flow now- pardon the pun!! And went to DH's app for the snip, he phoned the referral number he was given and goes for the snip on 30th sept!!!!!

bodenaddict · 18/09/2009 11:15

Kayzr · 18/09/2009 16:19

Hope everyone is well.

I have a stonking headache so resting so I am ok tomorrow.

Just wanted to let you all know it is Talk Like A Pirate day tomorrow so we better practice our "Arrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhssssss"

Diege · 18/09/2009 17:09

I agree STT, it's very coonfusing about the shole engagement thing, esp as they say 2nd and subsequent babies don't engage until labour (or rather they're not too concerned if they don;t engage before). I have to say all 3 dds had engaged by 36 weeks with me, and they think it was ds's size/position that caused the non-engagement. I certaintly dilated to 10 cms very quickly, but then the head was still very high apparently while dilating, so not sure about the need for pressure on the cervix to dilate... I bet you're sick of all the guess work and just want to get on with it! If I had the choice, thinking about it, I may well choose an elective section over induction (thinking of the pain).
KAYZ, hope your headache goes soon, esp by tomorrow!
BODEN, your weekend spa plans sound lovely - enjoy the pampering!
CANT that's good about af - don;t have to bring my pregnancy test now, unless anyone out there wants one for the future (GRUFF??? )
Right, better go...am trying to work out how to sort out the bottles thing for tomorrow as the special formula J;s on needs them to be made up cold..room temp will have to do I think!

Diege · 18/09/2009 17:10

Ah Harrr then shipmate KAYZ, will get in practice

Kayzr · 18/09/2009 18:20

Shiver me timbers!!

Just worked out the sling for tomorrow. I'm slinging it on the bus and bringing a little buggy. The bus is usually busy on Saturdays so easier to take sling and carry buggy.

Diege · 18/09/2009 19:19

You've just reminded me to bring mine Kayz!! I will need the 'big' pram, but may be useful if I need to walk him up and down the train . But of course that's not going to happen and he's going to sleep through the whole journey!

Kayzr · 18/09/2009 23:06

I would like to apologise now if I am half dead tomorrow. DS2 will not go to sleep at all. DH is trying to get him to sleep. He just doesn't seem tired.

Shit I can hear DS1 stirring. See you tomorrow.

Hope everyone else has nice weekends.

Diege · 19/09/2009 08:13

Diege · 19/09/2009 20:03

Hello, I'm back! Thanks for a lovely day Yorkers! Really enjoyed myself, and was lovely to see everyone. I think all the babies did so well at lunch, and we should all be proud of ourselves . Can't wait to see the piccy of the baby line-up
Right, Simon x-factor calling... Hope you got back OK CANT and MMM, and that you are watching as I type!
